New thread

We really are getting through a thread a month lol!!

Chulita · 25/06/2010 21:00

pample the chair should come in plastic inside the box so it shouldn't smell once you get it set up. And even if it does, it's perfect weather to stick it outside and febreeze it a couple of dozen times. sorry though, that's so crap!

I'm knackered, didn't get a nap in at lunch cos was faffing so deffo going to tuck myself up soon!

Emster30 · 25/06/2010 21:19

Yay yay yay I've finished work! Hooray! Such a good feeling to be coming home on the tube for the last time. Actually DH came to meet me to help me carry all my goodies home - I got a bug baby gym and a cot mobile that were somewhat awkward, plus today I was clearing all the random boxes of teabags/shoes etc out of my desk drawers so I had a really heavy rucksack too.

cakeywakey · 25/06/2010 21:44

Am also feeling the 'I've finished work' love Emster! Can't wait until Monday morning when I don't have to face trying to look smart for work when I just feel fat and hot.

If I didn't have DD to take to nursery I'd be tempted to stay in my pjs all day on Monday to celebrate

CherryPie3 · 25/06/2010 22:00

Evening everyone - I've missed you all! Cae back from holiday on 19th June and found that dh's brother had borrowed our laptop and not returned it but I've finally got my laptop back now - hooray!!
Sorry I haven't been here for 2 weeks, I know I've missed so much and I'm trying to read back through the posts for updates - I already know about the obvious one

for Caz. I sobbed buckets when I heard on FB, I wish I had something helpful to say to her but I really don't.
Theres a lady called Wollyjo on the 'gentle' pregnancy thread that went through something and it's completely heartwrenching!! She now has a healthy few weeks old baby girl now - so that proves that it's possible to go through such devastation and come through it at the other end.

I have sent a donation to the Caz and Belle Collection - unfortunately only a small one tho as I'm finding it difficult financially at the moment - just wanted to send something for them. The rose and card idea sounds simply perfect, just desperately wish it wasn't necessary. (Chulita I forgot to say who the paypal pymt was from - twas me (obviously lol, k . d o o l e r @ y a h o o )

Welcome Newbies - I' trying to update the list but if you re-post please just to make sure I don't miss you off - that would be great

I have to say that I'm loving not working - I can actually get my washing done whilst the sun is out. It's brilliant

This isn't a personal post unfortunately but I have read all your posts - my baby brain doesn't absorb very much for very long these days.
Hope you're all well and healthy. I had my 35wk check with consultant on Tuesday and my blood pressure was 165/101 . Had to talk them out of admitting me to the ante-natal ward. They were worried cos I had protein in my urine and my ankles/feet and hands are swollen. They agreed (rather easily) to let me come back for bp monitoring today to see if it was still high - and now its 109/59 - so I'm the other end of the scale now. Also my bump has grown 2cms in 4 days!! I now measure 37! Gonna be a good size baby methinks (or maybe hopefully a couple of weeks early?)

Happy Maternity Leave to those who have finished work!! How great is it???

Love to all xxxxxxxx

p.s - I've tried to do a list update but in my frazzled state it may not have all newbies on - please feel free to tell me if I've missed you or got any details wrong.
Here goes....

Thanks for updating the list cherry, I forgot to mention that I'm aged 26.

I hope everyone manages to not melt in the heat this weekend -- we're headed down to visit my MIL in Bournemouth this weekend and I think I may just set up camp in the nice, cool Atlantic!

babyducky · 26/06/2010 08:01

Ive sent a small amount to the caz fund

catch up with you all later x

girlsyearapart · 26/06/2010 08:24

morning. welcome back cherry very nice what you put at the top of the new list.

sparkle I know what you mean about the 02 I went to see Prince there when I was very pg with dd1 and it did feel like I was going to fall on to the people below!

DH continuing to be annoying. We had lots of people over for the last England match and when I waddled across the room he asked me 'Why you walking like that? have you trodden on something?' umm no it's called being 8 months pregnant..

And also is planning on going up to London to watch the Germany game and wondering why I wasn't so keen on him doing that..

Thought things were happening (again) yesteday, Period type pains in lower back pretty much all day then some v uncomfortable contractions.

So sick of this now!

Alicetheinvisible · 26/06/2010 08:50

Morning

Quick question: Has anyone else had sharpish twinges (not really pains) and tingling feeling in what must be the cervix? Does this mean baby is starting to become engaged?

Sorry, must dash now, soft play party

girlsyearapart · 26/06/2010 08:54

yep alice have had sharp pains/twinges over very quickly but enough to take my breath away.Had loads last night.

Don't know what it means though sorry..

vix206 · 26/06/2010 09:17

I get the cervix twinges too, I just assumed it was the baby poking/nudging that area since I've had them on and off for a few weeks now.

LittleMissSnowShine · 26/06/2010 09:50

Yep...twinges!!! Not the comfiest feeling ever lol

neenz - know what you mean about maternity clothes! i didn't need them at all before about 25 weeks so i bought a couple of things and thought they'd see me through to the end, esp cos I normally wear a 10/12 and i bought the clothes in a 14. but the last few days i'm really noticing that nothing fits properly any more...and i still have 8 weeks to go!! agh!!

pample - sorry to hear about the delivery mix up. hope the febreze sorts that out for you. think our chair might be arriving today, quit excited about getting it, so it can join the cot in the list of things in the nursery that still need to be assembled lol

Bubbabear · 26/06/2010 10:14

Morning all, hope everyone has a nice weekend lined up. Am getting more & more jealous of all these maternity leave announcements!

It took me 7 hours to drive to drive about 200 miles yesterday after work. EVERY road had delays on except the M6 Toll!! Couldn't believe it. Managed to only stop once for a quick dinner/loo/stretch legs break! Some not very nice thoughts of being stuck on a motorway in standstill traffic halfway up the country, miles away from any friends / family & going into early labor kept creeping into my head lol Was so glad when I eventually got to DP at 11pm. He was very sweet, kept texting little messages to check I was okay & gave me a nice back rub & hot choc with marshmallows & sprinkles when I finally walked in the door. Then tucked me up in bed & I got breakfast in bed this morning! ( he doesn't usually do that sort of thing).
Fingers crossed the drive back tomorrow will be a lot smoother...want need to get more of the nursery decorated

Cherry could you update me to being 30 now pls? Think I mentioned it before but must have been when you'd just popped off on holiday. Hope you had a lovely time
DP asked if me & little bubba will be free(!) to go on holiday Oct/Nov time as he has masses of leave to take. So nice to be able to plan anything we want without work getting in the way. I've never been on holiday during term time before!! What a lovely feeling

Off to Llandudno for lunch by the coast in a bit, then cinema later & a swim tomorrow. Will catch up more later. Hope everyones smiley x

sparkle101 · 26/06/2010 16:02

Afternoon everyone - can see what everyone means about matnernity clothese -just been out to get some more maternity clothes as I realised all the maternity clothes I had bought were more for winter wear and it is far too hot to be in them!

bubba I know what you mean about the maternity announcements..... it seems an age away (finish on 30th July) and I've only been back off holiday for a day!

cherry so are they happy with your blood pressure now? Cannot believe it went to two complete extremes - amazing... wonder if there was a dodgy bit of equipment somewhere when you update the list again please can you put my location is as Kent. Many thanks.

Got very excited today as DH had agreed to the nursing chair. He told me he had been into the new Mama's and Papa's and seen a glider chair for £125 - compared to the chair in Smyths for £100 - queue an argument discussion where I told him for £25 more we would be getting the mama's and papa's one so we hurried up there for me to see it. Lovely chair - had an enjoyable few minutes in it. Checked the description to see if it was self assembly and noticed the price of the stool was £125 on it's own, the chair was £475. DH very so we made our excuses, got out of there as quick as poss and I'm now the proud owner of a £100 smyths chair!

Emster30 · 26/06/2010 16:38

Hi all, blimmin hot isn't it? We just bought a chest of drawers for the baby's room from Ikea so next week when I start my washing and sorting of baby stuff I now have something to put it all into!

vix206 · 26/06/2010 17:19

Jealous of maternity leave announcements? Me? Just a bit LOL

I'm not planning on taking any! Working til I drop more or less and then taking 2 weeks off and back as soon as I can to keep business afloat. At least I will be taking him with me. I mustn't complain but i do feel sad and a bit left out, it would be lovely to have more time to recover and spend 1 on 1 with the little one.

Blimming hot today too!!

Alicetheinvisible · 26/06/2010 17:51

Vix poor you, hope you have aircon in your office! On the plus side of working so much, is it gets you out and about much quicker. I have horses and was doing them the day before i went into labour, and despite an emcs, was back doing them within about 10days (saw them sooner though) So many mums have trouble leaving the house after having their babies, but if you have to leave the house then you do it with less fuss and worrying as you are not allowed that mental block iyswim?

bouncingblueberries · 26/06/2010 18:57

Oh vix really feel for you honey. You need to treat yourself to something extra special to make up for it I think

Have been really emotional the past couple of days. Ended up starting a huge row with dh last night over nothing Poor dh, I know I'm being a cow.

Also felt yesterday that something was about to happen - don't know why, just had a funny feeling that I could go into labour at any minute. Weird. Feeling now gone though, so hopefully I'll get a decent amount of sleep tonight without worrying if my waters are about to break!

I'm am hotter than a roasted hot thing just now. Think I'll dig out the fan and use it in the bedroom tonight. So hot!

Welcome back cherry we've missed ya!

Oh, I also get the cervix pains - really takes my breath away! Don't remember them from last time, but boy do they hurt!

thecoffeelady · 26/06/2010 21:03

vix I really feel your pain. I have been self employed for 11 years now and during my pregnancy with DD I worked everyday apart from christmas day, boxing day and new years eve. I even went to work when I was in labour!

This time round I have just stopped working Sundays. I am planning on cutting my hours down as soon as my MA kicks in so I can pay someone to cover some of my hours.

alice you are so right, if you HAVE to leave the house because of work, horses other children you do tend to just man up and get on with it, it doesn't stop me from feeling envious of those who have time at home with their babies.

Working 7 days a week has left me full of guilt, but the 4 days a week DD is not at nursery we take her in to our Coffee Bar, doing this has made her sociable, chatty and confident. It also means that we see her all the time.

We are off to the beach tomorrow with some friends, it is supposed to hit 30 degrees tomorrow so I will need a paddle and a Mr Whippy!

chickieno1 · 27/06/2010 13:13

Hi Everyone!

I know its late but wondering if I could join in. I ve been following for a bit but clueless about things like this. Heartbreaking about caz , what you guys are doing for her is really nice.

I'm (just turned)35 and due first baby on the 23rd August........ a surprise

Feeling a little down this weekend about all I have to do before lo arrives! Loads at work and have to move too!!!!!!

CherryPie3 · 27/06/2010 20:57

Hey girls - so England are out

GYA - hope your dh didn't bother travelling far for the match - what a shambles!! Hope things have settled down with you and baby hun xx

DH is a footie fanatic and he ended up turning the tv off before the end as the team were playing so shockingly bad!! I was very because he never does that!!

sparkle Nope they want me at the day unit for a blood pressure profile twice a week! I don't think it was a dodgy bp machine tho cos they checked it twice and it was sky high both times, then when I went back for the follow-up a few days later it was low 3 times - I'm just awkward I think
about your dh's M&P bargain - thats why we women do the searching and the partners just pay

USMum Hope you have a lovely time

Alice I have those twinges too, feels like baby is turning his/her head in my pelvis or something.

Bubba Have updated the list with your age hun. Your journey sounds horrendous! I have thoughts like that sometimes because dh is due to be working away in Northampton just a few days before I'm due - desperately hoping baby comes before that as he'll be a 3 hour drive away - I could give birth in 3 hours!!

Vix I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity for you to spend time with your lo even at work, please don't be sad

Blueberries Sorry the emotions are getting you lately, I've been really tearful at adverts and stuff - the John Lewis song (She's always a woman) gets me every time!! I wouldn't mind going into labour in about a week/fortnights time - not on the 3rd July tho - cos that ds's birthday

chickie You're on the list hun - welcome to the thread . Can't believe you're moving house - you crazy thing .

Cherry - what is your bp ... Mine was on Fri 160/94.

I've got ever so slightly swollen ankles today...aghhhhh anyway I am ignoring them because its sun evening...fingers crossed they will be better tomorrow else I shall phone my midwife. I have stood up alot today plus it has been hot and having goggled it it says the main the thing to worry about it swollen hands and face...

CherryPie3 · 28/06/2010 04:56

Can't Sleep!! I've already been awake for 2 hours and I'm completely exhausted but just can't drop back off!

Cazzy It was 158/98 and 165/101. Now you mention swollen hands and face as well as feet (I don't even have feet anymore - I have flesh coloured balloons with cocktail sausages on the end ) that may explain my consultants worried look. My hands are really swollen and sore, sometimes they feel quite numb and pins and needly but it hurts to move them - I've been told thats carpal tunnel syndrome and theres nothing they can do. No idea if my face is swollen or not, I don't look in the mirror that often if I can help it

Right off back to bed to at least snuggle dh until he has to go to work. Heres hoping I get to sleep for a bit!

bouncingblueberries · 28/06/2010 08:37

Morning girls!

Well, I was really looking forward to waking up this morning and appreciating my first Monday without trekking into London. But, I had a rubbish sleep last night, so just felt grumpy instead! I think ds was too hot as was up about 4 times complaining of falling out of bed . Then the fan I rescued from the back of the cupboard yesterday gave me bad dreams! The noise seemed to lodge in my subconscious and I had lots of dreams about mechanical things chasing me. Weird.

On a positive note, I've just finished clearing out the space where my shiny new dishwasher is going to go . Finally got round to ordering it on Friday and can't wait to start using it. I'm sure it will transform my life Or rather dh's life since he seems to be the one doing all the housework at the moment

Another scorcher here today, so going to take it easy - fingers feel quite swollen, as do ankles but I have the paddling pool all to myself today as ds is in nursery

have a good one everyone!

mrsZaC · 28/06/2010 08:48

Monday - again! only 3 more left though, yipppee! (sorry vix) cherry hope you managed to get to sleep!

sparkle yey for joining the glider chair club! LOL at your DH and his 'bargain' - owh like cherry says, it's the girls that are best at sniffing out the bargains, that's certainly my job in our marriage!

vix like cherry says, chin up luv you'll still manage to spend time with your LO when your at work, at least your in the unique position to be able to take baby to work with you (if I'm right I think you mentioned that if not )

welcome to the thread chicky never to late to come on in, did you bring any cake?

nearly finished my antibiotics - yippee! they are giving me even worse heartburn than normal - grrrrr Toe seems to have cleared up so hopefully after this that will be the end of that!

Bought the last of baby's things last night online, although the lure of getting more is very tempting and i'm sure I'll have squeezed in another purchase before baby's arrival! I'm trying to wait to get some things playgym, bouncer, more clothes etc. so I can leave things for other people to buy us if they want to, so tempting to get them myself though! I seem to have already ended up (entirely my own fault) getting 4 hooded towels, justifying this as 3 of my friends are due around the same time as me and another 2 a month later so I think any surplus will make good gifts!

All chuffed as I finished writing my birth plan yesterday, all printed and sitting in my notes And I've made notes on which aromatherapy will help for each stage of labour, I think I'll be anal and write these on the birth plan for DH and mum. I didn't like writing the part about C Section, made me really sad as I'll have to be put under if I need a section and the thought of not knowing what was going on and being out of control was scary, but thinking positively that I won't need that and it's only a just incase part

So all that's left to do now is practice practice practice my hypnobirthing techniques and pack my hospital bag (which I'm totally avoiding thinking about).

ahh don't you feel better when things are down in text sometimes! best stop ranting on, hope your all not to toasty today, bless the aircon at work - lovit!

hugs and kisses to all xxx

mrsZaC · 28/06/2010 09:12

morning blueberries sorry to hear about your rubbish sleep, hope today is relaxing for you. Fab news on the dishwasher, you'll lovit! I most definetly couldn't live without one now we've had one for so long. have a nice travel free work free monday
