babyducky · 28/06/2010 09:25

morning,

Cherry- my DH done the same thing with the football!

Mrszac- my birth plan is on my list of jobs to do today while ds is at nursery!

Im not really sure what to write though, Im ashamed to say last time all it said was EPIDURAL

I know sort of what I want to write but not how to word it!

Also need to finish packing my bag too, its nearly done.

Welcome chickie

Alicetheinvisible · 28/06/2010 09:41

Morning

Busy weekend and 3 consecutive nights of completely rubbish sleep. I need to sleep!

34weeks today! Didn't think i would get this far a few weeks ago.

Went to friend's babyshower yesterday, was lovely. Her baby is due 4 days before ours is. So we are already planning a post birth picnic

Hopefully plumber will have finished the bathroom today. Getting in and out of the bath is proving to be a struggle now.

I didn't have a birth plan last time as i simply had no idea what to expect. Knew what i wanted, but had a very open mind. This time although i am going for a VBAC, i am still keeping very open about it iyswim? Hospital bag is pretty much packed, couple of extra bits to add, but have all the essentials in there. Need to wash baby clothes etc now, and put together babystuff for hospital, plus a staying in bag.

Hoping to get our dining room decorated this week, as we have a Victorian bookcase arriving in the next week or so that is huge, so really want to get room painted first!

bouncingblueberries · 28/06/2010 10:25

Oh lots of sleepy mamas today!

thank mrsZaC

well done on reaching 34 weeks alice - have a doughnut to celebrate

Almost finished decluttering the kitchen, but got side-tracked by the porch. See, that's my trouble, lack of focus

So, what should I do next: ironing, paint the hallway or paint the little bench in the porch that I've been meaning to paint for the last 4 years?

Actually, better finish tidying the kitchen first or it'll still be a tip when dh comes home from work! Ooops...

If I finish the kitchen I might treat myself to some new Cath Kidston oil cloth for the table...gosh, it's a wee bit lonely this staying at home lark - I'd forgotten that from last time round!

Chulita · 28/06/2010 10:41

blueberries can I have a doughnut too please?

DD thought it would be great fun to be up with the sun at just after 4am I didn't get up with her but I was awake for the first hour cos you can't sleep through 'yep, yep, yesss' over and over again, then she gave up and screamed so I got up, told her to go back to sleep and went back to bed with the door shut and the fan on I ignored her til about 6. I probably shouldn't have let her cry for that long but hey ho, she's not holding it against me today!

8 days til LO gets here (or that's what I'm telling DH, think positive )

Hope all you tired ladies have a chilled out day today - I'm counting the minutes til DD's naptime then I'm off for a sleep!

cherry I hope your swollen feet calm down a bit, it's so uncomfy isn't it!

kcoffin27 · 28/06/2010 10:57

morning all, think the heat is getting to all of us now. I am also having problems with sleep because of the heat, then when I do finally fall asleep, baby has a burst of energy and wakes me up. Last night I used the fan in the bedroom but it was too noisey so turned it off

Does anyone else find it uncomfortable in the lady garden area when baby moves its head?

Only 4 weeks and 2 days left and counting
since uni finished and i have nothing to do im finding it so boring in the day as it drags, both sons at school so have nothing to do.

CherryPie3 · 28/06/2010 11:32

It's another hot one isn't it?
I think I know why I was up for hours last night - I have a very upset tummy! No idea whats caused it - no dietary reason that I know of but hey ho. Hope it's just a bug and leaves me to sleep in peace for a while. I'm just about to go back to bed again as didn't manage to drop off earlier and the kids are at school now so just me here. I have so much to do but so little energy to do it - dh not going to be pleased!

Does anyone know of any ways to ease swollen feet? Mine are really sore and feel like there are bruises all over them. I've tried keeping them up and soaking them in cool water (which felt lovely but didn't help). Finding shoes that fit is a bit of a problem too at the minute.

Bluberries I just can't focus either!! Although it's MN and bed thats calling me today!!

Chulita 8 days?!? Hopefully! .

Alice Congrats on reaching 34wks!

MrsZaC - Well done on completing your birthplan - don't think I'm bothering with one this time as both times before it wasn't even looked at. DH knows what I want/don't which is basically for them not to bother offering me an epidural because I'm scared shitless of them! Unless of course a c-section is necessary - which I'm hoping I'll be informed of beforehand!!

Anyhow - night night girls - I'm off for a nap

Alicetheinvisible · 28/06/2010 12:11

Even my flipflops were digging in by the end of yesterday Cherry so i know how you feel. Hope you feel better after your sleep.

Need to go to bed, but i have all the sheets on the line atm and loads of washing sat on the bed waiting to be put away Maybe a snooze on the sofa.....

USMum27 · 28/06/2010 12:15

I am absolutely melting! I normally love the heat, as DH keeps reminding me, but at the moment I feel as though I'm going to faint if I so much as walk into the other room.

cherry I can't believe it about your feet - can the consultant give you anything to help with the swelling?? Drink lots of fluids and stay in bed, that way you don't have to worry about shoes

I can't believe you all have lovely nurseries decorated and things put together - we only ordered our cot this weekend . On the other hand, we have to move to a bigger flat at the beginning of August so DH didn't want to buy anything until then. Luckily I've convinced him I'll go mental if I have to move 3 weeks before I'm due and we haven't bought anything!

Hope you all have a lovely day and manage to get some sleep tonight (I've completely given up!). I'm very of all these air-conditioned offices

bouncingblueberries · 28/06/2010 12:17

Of course you can chulita

Well, kitchen is now all clean, just the floor left to do but I'm not touching that until the dishwasher is delivered. Everything else spick and span though. Just hope I can sweet talk the delivery man into moving my washing machine - I'm sure a cup of tea and some home-made victoria sponge will do the trick

Right, better go tackle that ironing pile. Think I'll stand in front of the fan while I do it though!

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/06/2010 12:39

MrsZac - I filled in the basic birth plan in my maternity notes last week but I've literally just stuck in the basics! Now I've started getting real twinges and braxton hicks, even my natal hypnotherapy cd hasn't managed to convince me I'm going to be all that great at managing the pain without some drugs! But my plan basically says I'm going to give it a fair oul go, stick to the gas and air and use a birthing pool, but if it gets too sore and I start panicking then I want hooked up to the remifentanil stat! Anyone else using/used this btw??

Finally started raining in Belfast this morning! Woo hoo!! Feet swelling immediately so much better. Hope the heat isn't causing everyone too much grief today

Just back from a night away for our wedding anniversary and nursing chair just arrived from Kiddicare when we got back. Really should be doing some work this afternoon but sorely tempted to just have a nap and get caught up again tomorrow lol

pamplem0usse · 28/06/2010 13:56

Right I'm properly rubbish, so sorry.... will post rose details later! xxxxxx

p.s. do we have a running total on the Caz donation's yet? xxx

driedapricots · 28/06/2010 14:18

hi ladies
i just re-added myself to the list as think i dropped off when i went awol for a few months!

i'm due 8 aug but have apt with consultant tomorrow when i hope to get my c-sect date..then i'll know my baby's birthday - wierd!

I'm tired today too having been up since 5.15am with DD1 - tho not quite as bad as 4am chulita..but then i do not have the option of an afternoon nap today so will be a walking zombie by the time i have to leave work and do the nursery pick up/bath/bed thing... still only one more day of work to go hurrah!!

Hey Cherrypie - upset tummy can be an early sumpton of labour you know...take it easy ;)

Chulita · 28/06/2010 14:35

Just had a 2 hour nap - lush!

cherry the only thing I can add is try swimming if that's an option - seems to help swollen legs/feet.

Thanks blueberries my kitchen's in need of a tidy and I'll happily help you with the Vic sponge if you fancy cleaning it

DH texted to say that he's not being allowed the full 2 weeks paternity (not sure how much he's going to get) and that although we know we're moving in 2 months, we have no idea where we need to be moving to. How the frick does the army organise a war if they can't sort the basics out?! It's proper pissed me off...

Sorry for the self-centred post!

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/06/2010 14:54

Chulita - I got an hour's nap on the sofa. Bloody amazing, afternoon naps!! Rubbish about your DH tho - mine is a teacher and if baby comes at the very end of August when its due then DH won't be able to take more than a week off MAX because a whole bunch of new kids will be starting and the centre he works in is for really troubled young people so the start of term is v important. Def hoping baby comes early - both to put me out of my bloated pregnant misery lol and also because the idea of being home alone with a tiny baby immediately terrifies me!! Hope you get details sorted out with your DH later on...

driedapricots "upset tummy can be an early sumpton of labour you know" - did not know that!! going to be very paranoid watching out for that one now!! Good luck with your consultant appt tomorrow

Alicetheinvisible · 28/06/2010 15:15

Tummy upsets can be an early sign, or can cause labour to start. Luckily there are lots of other signs

Chulita that is rubbish. I think by law they have to be 'allowed' to take paternity, but i know that doesn't exactly mean they make it very easy.

DH saves up some holiday as we can't really afford for him to have only £100 odd for a week! It can be difficult for him to have time off at pretty much any time of year though, so he may work part time while on paternity.

Chulita · 28/06/2010 15:33

It wouldn't be as bad 'cept we had to move here in October so I don't really know that many people to help if I get stuck and we're miles from either set of parents - but that's the way of it, can't choose where you get posted

Chulita · 28/06/2010 15:42

pamplemousse I just messaged you on facebook

Alicetheinvisible · 28/06/2010 15:58

chulita is it you doing the organising wrt the rose etc? Can i send the card to you too? To be sent together?

Chulita · 28/06/2010 16:00

I'm hoping pample will do the rose thing, I don't know anything about it. Had a bit of trouble messaging her til now - might be better sending the card to her They should be sent together if possible though, you're right!

cakeywakey · 28/06/2010 16:06

Afternoon all, think I might be melting here!

Just wanted to sing the praises of Birkenstocks for anyone who's having swollen foot trouble. They're a bit clumpy but oh so comfy and you can easily adjust the size of the straps to fit the size of your feet on any given day. I could not live without mine at the minute, and know they'll be fab for trekking around with the pram in a few weeks' time as well.

(LittleMiss I just woke up from an afternoon snooze too - maternity leave rocks )

driedapricots · 28/06/2010 16:32

ladies with swollen extremities.. (!) do you find it gets worse towards the end of the day? i'm ballooning here.

mrsZaC · 28/06/2010 16:36

soo of your afternoon naps ladies!

I think someone was asking for the running total of the Caz fund, I hope nobody minds me posting this on here, the total is currently sitting at £141.46.

monday over! only 3 more to go - yippee!

neenz · 28/06/2010 16:38

Pample that really sucks about the nursing chair. Have you complained to the company and/or royal mail?

Cherry, I thought upset tummy = labour too! Hope its not that though.

I was seriously nesting yesterday - chucked out loads of my own clothes I don't wear anymore and sorted out all my baby clothes (8 boxes ) so feel a bit more organised. Put my hospital stuff together - a bag of little 5lb babygros from the DT in case I am early and a bag of normal size in case have to go in (hoping for homebirth). I am a lot more relaxed this time - I'm not even washing the baby clothes again. How dirty can they have got sat in a plastic box?

While I was doing that Dh was looking after the DTs, who were in the garden fighting over toys. They normally play really well together but sometimes you do have to referee. DH said 'I don't know how you cope with those two all week'. It's nice for him to think it is actually difficult (it isn't I would much rather be in my position than his!)

neenz · 28/06/2010 16:45

MrsZac, it's great you're doing all the hypnobirthing and birth preparation. You will reap the rewards. It's great to go into the birth with a good idea of how you want it to go, how you are going to deal with the pain and especially the visualisation techniques you'll have learned with hypnobirthing.

cazzybabs · 28/06/2010 19:09

Right i am seeing the consuatant on Weds so fingers crossed she'll do as the midwife tells her.. give me some drugs and bugger off... I feel all stressed about it again.

But ankles no longer swollen.

2 more weeks at work - nd then another 3 paid hopefully as its the summer holidays....
