I'll add myself to the scared shitless list

Chulita · 10/06/2010 17:44

Mind you I have been doing a lot of listening to Natal Hypnotherapy and they are uber positive about how 'you can do it' so it might actually work!

Sal321 · 10/06/2010 17:58

I've realised that I am one of the non-posters and haven't given Cherry much info for the list so here goes...

I'm 31 and from Essex. We wimped out of finding out what the baby will be so are expecting a surprise. 20 week scan was fine and we are on a research study where you get extra scans so 28 week scan was good too. Baby looks like DH on the scans!

I'm currently lounging around at home having been signed off for my blood pressure rising and I am probably not going back to work now. All I need to do is decide whether to start my maternity leave early or get signed off some more (I love my GP).

I'm not scared shitless to give birth, but only because it still hasn't sunk in.

So far we have only got a few random bits and pieces from freecycle - cot, buggy that turns out to be the one that cuts toddlers fingers off, two copies of Annabel Karmel book (accidentally) and a T Shirt that my parents brought back from Spain. DSIL has promised loads of stuff as DN is now 9 months. I quite fancy a Loola Up travel system but my mum things that the carry cot looks too short to last to 6 months - any ideas?

starshaker · 10/06/2010 18:00

Just been looking at my notes and finally decided to stand on the scales to see what weight i have put on during this pregnancy. Im a bit worried as ive only put on 5lbs so far. Should i be worried or not?

neenz · 10/06/2010 18:53

Hi all, we were away camping last week which was FAB. I was so sad to come home - I just wanted to go away again so I have booked me and DH two nights in a spa/hotel for my birthday in July . Without the twins - woo hoo!

Bump is getting big now - I have to have a pillow under it now for support in bed. Still sleeping well on the whole though which is a change from last time. They say the bump is 2mths ahead with twins so at 7m I was like full-term (and felt it). Much easier this time.

I am finishing work at the end of July and going back in Sept 2011 so I feel very lucky to have so much time off. I had 16m off with the twins.

Vix at least you'll be able to take the baby with you. Is there any chance you could get a bed at work so you can power nap - you might find you are just so tired from sleep deprivation at times you'll need it. If you BF you can have a nap lying down while the baby feeds

Chulita · 10/06/2010 19:14

starshaker a friend of mine had twins and she only put on 5 lbs for the whole pregnancy. But that was after her babies had been born, could your scales be wrong? Surely if you've got two 3lb-ish babies in there plus fluid the weight should be a bit higher...

starshaker · 10/06/2010 19:20

Nope scales not wrong. First weight was scales the the doctors and second lot were my mates weight watchers scales. Cant see them being that different

kcoffin27 · 10/06/2010 19:21

Hi all, hope alls ok? cherrypie goodluck on your last day at work tomorrow can you please update the list to show im having a girl as you said from the other post im on, she is not breech now shes head down, and placenta has moved to lying on my left side. They have estimated her to weigh 4lb 8oz already. And still have 7 weeks so think she may be a big baby

Had my blood pressure checked yesterday and it has gone up again, keeps going like a yoyo. seeing the consultant on monday.

Has anyone else who has had a section been gettin really bad shooty pains in their scar? I have been for the last 2 days and its really painful

thedogwalker · 10/06/2010 20:11

Hi, I'm new to this thread.

My baby boy is due on the 15th of August. Due to my job I live in Germany, but I'm finishing work next wednesday to have 8 weeks off before the birth to relax etc and then plan on having 9 months off after the birth. Am currently looking into natal hypnotherapy as a birth option.

Cherrypie do you need any more info to update the list?

My blood pressure has been playing up but strangely mine has gone really low, so not got much energy, told by the Dr to rest, rest, rest. Yeah like life is that easy!!!!

cazzybabs · 10/06/2010 21:09

I am still here....AND I have fianlly booked a midwife appoitment - HORRAH for 2 weeks time as have trip and sports day on teh 2 days she works at my GP.
And more excitingly I have booked my summer holiday - right at the end of August. Going to Norfolk - never been before so am quite xcitied

pamplem0usse · 11/06/2010 09:36

Rant alert.... feel free to ignore!

So, we had a big glass desk (think large plate of glass and two trestles) in babies room that needed removing (it's going into storage at my in-laws farm). I asked DH about four times to arrange for someone to help him get it to our car, because we live up a 100m path and it's heavy.....

He said he would, and then didn't and it needed moving by today because we're decorating babies room. Anyway so he pretty much insisted I help him carry it, despite me saying several times that what with (a) being nearly seven months pregnant and (b) my SPD being really bad wasn't a good idea.

I ended up in tears and he shouted at me for complaining.... he eventually apologised but I'm really annoyed he thought it was acceptable to ask in the first place and be quite aggressive when I told him I'd struggle. Boo.

He's gone to work now, which is probably for the best as I was only going to get more annoyed with him.

Alicetheinvisible · 11/06/2010 09:56

Morning

Hello dogwalker

Yay for MW appointment and holiday Cazzy Pample at your DH. TBH, i would really lay it on thick when he gets home later and make him feel very guilty. In the nicest possible way, men just have no idea how stressful/uncomfortable/draining pregnancy is. When i mentioned to DH how knackered i felt last night, he said "Tell me about it" WTF! I shall tell you about it....in the end he ran me a bath without being asked

Feeling really sick and shaky today. Have done too much this week. With the bathroom being done i have been out of the house all day everyday, which is a bit much for someone who is supposed to be resting as much as possible on the plus side, the cx have eased off now. I am still getting BH's but that is fine.

Anyway, sorry for the moan i hate moaning to people who are not pg iyswim, as even if they have been there before it is very hard to remember exactly what it feels like at the time.

pamplem0usse · 11/06/2010 10:07

Alice he's just text.... and when I didn't reply phoned... so he's obviously feeling bad, but to be honest, so he should!

Sorry you're not feeling great, hopefully time for a bit of a sit down today?

On a positive note, the most unlikely looking man offered me a seat on the tube yesterday; taught me a lesson on the don't-judge-a-book-by-its-cover front!

CazEM · 11/06/2010 10:28

Nichy - Yup totally terrified!

Welcome dogwalker - Lucky you 8 weeks pre-birth and then 9 months post! Is maternity provision a lot better in Germany then?!

Cherry hope your enjoying your last day in work!

Cazzy glad you booked a MW appointment!

Pample I'm quite at your DH! Maybe he is just having a bad day... Hope you enjoy decorating babies room! Our nursery is being started tonight as well.

Going to have another day of paperwork today. Don't know what to do about work for Monday.... I'm fine when I'm sat down but as soon as I do any walking or housework type stuff (e.g. loading washing machine, dishwasher) bump keeps tightening again, twinges and quite a strong downwards pressure. Don't know whether to try and see GP today and get signed off for next week too just to be on the safe side as job is quite busy, on feet all day, up and down off floor a lot with kids etc. Am I being neurotic and over cautious?? Might ring DH in a minute and see what he thinks. My mum wants me at home and my teacher friend from school has phoned and told me to stay off too! Haha!

Hope everyone is having a good day....

CherryPie3 · 11/06/2010 10:34

HAPPY WORLD CUP START DAY!!! DH was almost bouncing round the bedroom this morning!! He's like a child going to Disneyland or something, bless him!

What a happy day this is . Came into work this morning to a lovely card and a gift card for mothercare . Can't believe my last day is actually here!!

Sal and kcoffin - good to see you back!! Congratulations on your little girl kcoffin And what a lovely weight she is, it might settle down before she arrives though so don't panic (yet )

Welome to the thread dogwalker, congrats on your little man, I've added you to list below

cazzybabs Well Done you for booking your mw appointment . How exciting for your holiday!!!

pample It's so easy for other people to forget how difficult it is just being pregnant sometimes, and thats without SPD on top!! You have my sympathy hun, my dh is the same and expects me to carry heavy washing baskets up and down stairs all day long
Chin up honey, theres not long to go now then it will be easier for you to move around. Sod the men, they don't (in fact I think they can't) understand what it's like.

Star 5lbs . I wouldn't worry too much just now cos you;ve been ill haven't you? That could be affecting your weight as well. Plus you;re always out shopping , I bet that burns the calories away
I caved and weighed myself last night and I have put on 9lbs. I don't think it's too bad but I don't like seeing the scales go up at all!! I'm heavy enough when not pregnant!!

Hope you all have lovely happy Fridays.

Ooops - took me so long to type that post I managed to x-post with all of you

Pample You're absolutely right - he should feel bad!!

Alice Really glad your ctx have eased off hun, hope you feel better soon!! I know you mean about the "I know what you mean"'s from dh's. I told dh last night I was tired with an achy bump and needed to lay down - he says, "me too" . And when was the last time you had a baby bump Mr DH??

CazEm Sounds like you need to be checked out again, I don't think you should go to work on Monday if you're still getting the tightenings - tell little Belle she needs to start being a good girl and stay where she is for now

Ooooh Star forgot to mention in my last post - my cousin had twins 6yrs ago and she only pun on 8lbs in the whole pregnancy, she gave birth at 38wks - both babies over 5lbs

OP posts:
CazEM · 11/06/2010 11:16

Spoke to MW - she has advised a bit more resting so is arranging a note off Dr for next week for me!

marzipananimal · 11/06/2010 11:27

Hi all, it's actually almost sunny today, hurrah! grey drizzle puts me in a bad mood.

9lb isn't much cherry, I've put on 1 and 3/4 stone If I carry on at this rate i'll soon be heavier than my DH! I'm not too bothered though as I think I'm the type to lose it all again straight away (phew!)

pample poor you, I would've been very annoyed too. I think men just get tired of making allowances and being sympathetic for a whole 9 months (and then when the baby's born too). My dh is generally pretty good but every now and then gets fed up with me being so pathetic all the time

Alicetheinvisible · 11/06/2010 11:47

I have put on about 2stone so far, although it varies so much day to day, depending if i have eaten/drunk lots. It is all bump though, literally all my clothes still fit apart from my bump (which is pretty average sized) With DD i had a small bump and had only put on about 7lbs by this stage, but i balloned a bit from about 34wks and last weighed myself about 10days before i had her. I made the mistake of weighing myself a week after and was still the same weight as i was before having her and without the bump i actually looked fat and it took a good 10months before weight staryted to shift, despite being back riding the horses - i was not happy!

biddysmama · 11/06/2010 12:12

we are getting the alst of the baby stuff tomorrow, i am ridiculously excited lol, all we need is the car seat, moses basket and clothes...

has anyone had a change in movement and routine? i'm 30 weeks and for the last week he has slowed down alot, more rolls and pokes than big belly bouncing kicks, heard heardtbeat on weds so i know he's ok, still worrying tho!

also found out that my midwife is on holiday from the 14th august till 21st, i'm due on the 18th so now i'm worrying she wont be delivering him. both ds and dd were born at 41 weeks exactly so i kinda expect this one will as well but dd is only 14 months and i didnt really give myself enough time to recover so he might be early, estimated at 10lbish so a little early doesnt worry me too much lol (ds was 7lb 9oz, dd was 8lb 14oz, both drug free births, ds at hospital, dd at home both within 4 hours!)

wow i'm rambling today lol....

just cos i'm nosy and i like prams...whats everyone got/getting? i have a loola (kid art, if you wanna look it up lol) with carrycot and firstwheels twin city (double)

Chulita · 11/06/2010 12:13

I've put on loads but I know it'll go once the lo arrives. People say I'm carrying it well so it makes me feel a bit better

pample for you. DH is a bit the same, he hears me coming up the stairs and then asks if I'd mind popping down and getting his water bottle or something. I always say 'no, I've just come up, need a good 20 mins before I'm going back down again' I think marzipan is right though, sometimes they get fed up. DH is very good at me not picking things up though - he told me off this morning for picking up DD in her highchair to scoot her into the table...I have to do it when he's at work though!

I'm really fancying something to eat but have no idea what. Just had a cheese and ham sandwich but it didn't hit the spot...

LCRLCR · 11/06/2010 12:13

I've gained 2 stone and now weigh the same as DH! Also I've outgrown 2 pairs of maternity jeans out of pure vanity as I bought them in a size 8 which was pre-prego size but now my ass, hips and thighs have all gotten bigger, I really should have not have been so vain and gone up a couple of sizes - lesson learnt!

CherryPie3 · 11/06/2010 12:26

CazEm Glad you're still resting honey

Marzi I hate grey grim weather too - sun shining here, kind of!

Alice I reckon its gonna take me a good few months to lose any baby weight too!!

Dammit, I'm having a x-posts day!!

biddy welcome back, I have the M&P Pramette in famiglia, although it is currently without its apron and matching changing bag since my dear sweet mother 'misplaced' them .
Mu lo's movements have definitely slowed down too, lots more stretches and wriggles than kicks and punches.

chulita at your dh asking you to nip back downstairs for something he forgot!! My dh has stopped trying this . Cos I refused to accommodate his demands

xx

p.s less than 5 hours til my leave starts

I wish my 'laptop' had a belly groove, I can't sit with it on my knee properly anymore.

cherry yay for nearly finishing work! It's going to feel a lot more 'real' after this
