oh and cazzy phone tomorrow morning, first thing, set a reminder on your phone or something! I'm sure the midwife will be very pleased to see you after all this time.

bouncingblueberries · 09/06/2010 09:02

Morning!

Elusive don't worry - you didn't make me feel guilty at all - the cold hard facts of my bank balance did the job But then at yoga last night we were talking about how being a mum involves a lot of giving, and more giving, and more giving and when finally when you think you've nothing left to give, you have to give some more My every so wise yoga teacher reminded us that it's also important to give a little something back to ourselves, so for me, it's that bag!

pample I adore Orla Kiely! Think that will be my going back to work gift to myself - an Orla Kiely handbag

Caz how frightening for you! So glad you went to get checked out and Belle is still safe and sound. I prescribe lots and lots of rest and pampering for you young lady!

cazzy phone the midwife - NOW! [stern look]

Happy birthday for tomorrow bubba

Chulita · 09/06/2010 09:32

Hello everyone!

BH have settled down now, thanks to everyone who asked. We had to go back to hospital again yesterday because lo's heartbeat was very slow but it was fine once we got there. Because it's still ectopic they want to see us every week which is a pain because it's hard to find someone to look after DD and since I nearly fainted in the car DH won't let me drive!

I saw a changing bag I love but the website's out of stock. A lady at the toddler group had it and I had total bag envy, lol! Same lady really made me though, she was like 'I'd like a cs for the next one' (her's is about 10 wks) I asked her why and she said that she'd done the vaginal birth and now would quite like the idea of a cs I told her it took 10 months for me to be able to pick DD up without pain. What a tit! and here I am fighting every inch to try and have a breech vbac/turn the little thing inside me/not have cfm etc - I'm desperate to avoid a cs. Sorry, rant over!

caz I hope you manage to get some rest and relax!

cazzy ring the midwife!

cherrypie hope your last couple of days at work fly by

mrsZaC · 09/06/2010 12:31

oh chulita I think that lady would make me too! Some people are so flippant about things, and not to mention insensitive! She won't be so flippant about it when she is suffering!!

growingbump2 · 09/06/2010 15:41

Hi everyone

What a miserable day so much for me going to get some washing done on the baby front. Had consultant appt this morning at 9.30, was such a long wait finally got out at 12 had to hang around again as protein and high bp again, think I just love a drama! Couldn't work out baby's position at all either so no idea how its lying.

bubba happy birthday for tomorrow!
cherry at all your organising!
cazzy ring the midwife, surprised she hasn't rung you!

starshaker · 09/06/2010 18:09

Well ladies i need happy floaty vibes please. Had an appointment with the midwife today and i have protein in my urine and a stinking headache along with a couple other (possible) symptoms. Will get the results from the blood tests tomorrow. Have to say im a bit worried but im sure everything is normal.
Hows everybody else today?

Bubbabear · 09/06/2010 19:01

Thank u for the b/day wishes. Just got home to find a huge bouquet of flowers & a card on my doorstep from DP! Total surprise, as I said he's not exactly the most romantic type. Plus he 'doesn't do cards' so this is a first. (I won't see him til Friday & I'll be out til late evening tomorrow which is why he had them sent today). Can't stop grinning!

Anyways, real reason for posting was to ask about the protein in urine business. Is it potentially something to worry about? & if so, what does it mean?
I had a midwife appointment yesterday & she mentioned & recorded on my notes that there was a 'trace' of protein in my sample. That's all she said & happily breezed on with the rest of the appointment commenting that I had a neat little bump & bp, heatbeat etc was perfectly fine as usual, so I assumed everything was fine. Plus for the first time we seem to have evened out a bit & measure the correct number of cm for how many weeks we are (I'm normally about 3cm over). Hope everything is alright growingbump & star Cazzy get yourself to the midwife young lady! ?gives very strict teacher look complete with wagging finger?

Chulita · 09/06/2010 19:19

growingbump sorry you had a crap day. Don't worry about how it's lying just yet, we've still got time for them to do all sorts of acrobatics!

star ack to protein...hopefully it'll sort itself out [fingers crossed] Get some rest if you can and drink bucket loads of water!

bubba protein in your urine can be an early sign of pre-eclampsia. If your mw thought it was a large amount she'd have been worried. They will induce/perform cs for severe pre-eclampsia cos it can be dangerous.

Bubba happy birthday for tomorrow. Star sending happy vibes your way for tomorrow. Chulita glad your BH have calmed down a bit and thank you for the discount codes.

at all the people who are fast approaching the start of their maternity leave, I still have what feels like ages left at work . Still on the bright side, the longer I spend at the work the more time I'll have with baby.

CazEM · 09/06/2010 20:54

Evening all!

I have read through posts but can't remember specifics (baby brain is really starting to become severe I've decided when I can't remember the details of what I've just read!) Anyway, happy anniversary and birthdays to those celebrating!

Cazzy - go and see MW! I'm surprised they haven't been chasing you down!

Star - hope your tests come back ok. and Bubba hope your protein trace is a one off too!

I've had a restful day - surprised by how tired I am considering I've done so little today. Slept for 4 hours this afternoon, and could easily go back to bed again already and sleep for the night! My aim today was to do paperwork and email it in to school but I managed one report. Hopefully do a few more tomorrow!

My friend took me to her breastfeeding support group for an hour this morning to meet people and know where to go before baby is born. Her baby turned one at the weekend so this was her last time at this particular group so as I was off and in light of weekends dramas she asked would I like to go with her to meet people and know who the support network are before baby is born. Was nice, now have a number of the support worker who can come to the house to help me when I'm finding it tough in the first few weeks while we establish breastfeeding. My friend also gave me a lovely gift too - a pregnancy cast kit to make a mould of my bump! So her and my SIL are going to come and spend Friday night with me and make my bump cast incase baby decides on another attempt at early escape in the next few weeks! It'll be a lovely girly night in!

Everything has remained settled today, plenty of movement which is so reassuring after weekend. Just unbelieveably tired! Suppose its a reaction to a stressful few days - I'll just keep taking advantage of having the time for extra sleep when I want it! DH has been lovely since we got home, very attentive and catering to my every whim! Nursery if now definately being painted at weekend and he is itching to build her furniture! Quite cute!! I'm just itching to wash clothes (babies!) and put them away! Haha!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

vix206 · 09/06/2010 21:35

Bubba I also had a trace of protein in the last sample I gave but the midwife didn't seem too concerned, rather flippant actually. Said really I should go back in a week for another sample but they were 'chocka-block' so would have to wait 2 weeks. I'm sure we'll both be fine.

I have terrible lower back ache almost constantly now and at night I only get 4 hrs sleep due to back, hip and leg pain. Not having much fun at all to be honest. Not posting much at the moment but make sure I read every day to keep up to date! Love and good luck to all of you who are having a hard time of it at the moment, try not to get too stressed and worried.

I am of anyone taking maternity leave because I know I'll only be able to take around 2 weeks totally off from work due to running our own business. Baby and I are going to have to go in (albeit at much reduced hours for the first few months) as soon as we can and get on with things, otherwise we'll have no business to go back to. I'm just hoping everything is uncomplicated and works out for me, I guess if I am too tired/weak/ill to go back then DH is just going to have to cope without me as best he can.

Anyway, I'm whingeing so that's my cue to sign off! Good night everyone x

weehector · 10/06/2010 01:35

Grrr. Still up (indigestion & restless legs) which is a PITA as I need to be sleeping as I've got a 6 hr roadtrip to London ahead of me in the morning. A girly weekend lies ahead so sure it'll be worth it.

Pample What a lady of impeccable taste you are I love my Pretty Ballerina's pumps - have been living in them all pregnancy as they are brill with jeans & leggings. A wipeable Orla Kiely bags sounds like a clever choice too. Don't you just love the fact that you can feel fabulous but never feel fat when it comes to bags & shoes? Wish me luck for tomorrow as I'm stopping off at Bicester on the way down tomorrow in the hope that they'll have a discounted Mulberry Mabel in smooth brown leather...my belated birthday pressie from DH. I'm justifying it on the grounds that I've not bought any clothes this year other than 1 x maternity jeans, 1 x maternity leggings & 2 maternity t-shirts.

MrsZac Re using your HiP for hypnobirthing...you're Scottish aren't you?...I'm getting mine on the NHS, can you not see if you can get it free first if its not too late?...its available for everyone going to RAH in Paisley, I believe, but in Ayrshire & Arran (I'm going to Ayrshire Maternity at Crosshouse), a limited number of places are available on referral and my nice MW put me down for having a needle phobia (I don't like them but I don't lose much sleep over it tbh).

Growing Yes! I've dropped considerably this week and been getting shooting pains and that tickly but initally disturbing movement much lower down that feels exactly like he's waving in my fanjo! My unkind DH has uncharitably suggested that he's just making an early start on trying to clear a path through the undergrowth

Hope you all have a lovely weekend (any orders for Borough or Columbia Road markets?) and stay healthy while I'm away. Will check back in on Monday - hope nobody needs to go back on the worry list in the meantime.

pamplem0usse · 10/06/2010 07:57

weehector I shall keep my fingers crossed for the Mulberry.... and for a reduction of pregnancy related symptoms of course, but primarily the mulberry(!!)..... I'm rather hoping the Euro crashes so I can indulge a bit more in my Pretty Ballerinas habit!
Must run, off to Londinium and shopping at M&P with my SIL (crikey it looks like I just shop these days!)

bouncingblueberries · 10/06/2010 09:04

pample, weehector I'm shocked! Why have I never heard of Pretty Ballerinas before? You're both very naughty for not sharing earlier

Hope you get that Mulberry bay weehector - I filled my lovely new changing bag with nappies and wipes last night. It's so lush, all retail guilt is now long gone (lets see what happens when the credit card bill arrives!)

star hope everything is ok and the protein and headaches turn out to be nothing.

vix we'll a be wishing a ridiculously easy birth for you - it must be hard knowing you can't take proper maternity leave. But at least with it being your own business you can catch-up on paperwork at stupid o'clock if you ever feel the need!

Had a bit of a funny day yesterday. Braxton hicks all day with a few really painful ones that had me wondering whether I should go get checked out . All settled down now though and think it was just a combination of stress and too little sleep. Hopefully we can have an easy weekend.

Now, how many first size vests and baby gros does everyone have? I thought I had loads and although I'm ignoring all the blue stuff we have until we know if it's a boy or a girl, I think we only have about 10 vests (0-3 months), 1 newborn babygro and 10 0-3 months babygros. Hmmm. Was convinced we had loads and actually told mil not to buy any. Oops. Maybe I need to reassess the sack of blue clothes again! If it's a girl, she'll just have to live in blue for a wee while

Chulita · 10/06/2010 10:23

I bought a huge bundle on ebay in case we had a boy in my defence it was about 15 vests and 15 sleepsuits for 99p so it didn't cost me much. DD lived in sleepsuits for the first 3 months so we've got plenty of both colours now!
I'm wondering if it's too early to put DD down for her nap, I need one already!

ElusiveMoose · 10/06/2010 10:30

Blueberries, we've amassed so many boys' hand-me-downs that I now have 30 newborn vests, 30 newborn babygros, 30 0-3 vests and 30 0-3 babygros . The good/bad thing is that I don't have anything left to buy. But I think I'll use that JoJo voucher to indulge in a little pair of those soft trousers/leggings. Never really used them with DS, but they're so cute!

growingbump2 · 10/06/2010 11:17

Ohh am in full on nesting mode, long may it continue, hoover is broke though so having to concentrate on washing, trying to get to bottom of basket it has been a while. Finally got baby stuff from loft last night, car seat moses basket, bouncy chair loads of clothes so will spend the next couple of weeks washing and sorting them out and seeing what I need to buy, must try and get pjs and stuff for my hospital bag, am very unorganised.

Star hope your blood tests come back okay, have had mine done the past two weeks and just having to go back every week for urine dipstick and bp testing with stern warnings about headaches, foggy vision and rib pain all of which I've had just not too bad iykwim.

bubba protein can be an early warning of pre-eclampsia usually with high blood pressure but hospital are quite relaxed unless you have a lot of other symptoms.

CherryPie3 · 10/06/2010 11:46

Hi everyone, back at work today, and I'm strangely happy about it. Can't believe tomorrow is my last day here!! Am definitely not sad about it but it does feel weird knowing I don;t need to feel guilty for not doing anything more than my housework!!
My actual maternity leave doesn't start until 14th July, I deliberately saved all my holidays up so I could leave even earlier .

Blueberries I too have never heard of pretty ballerinas. Assuming they're pumps/footwear? I desperately need to purchase new pumps but fear I will have to make do with £6 pumps from Primark (they're gold and super cute tho )

I have 6 first size vests, 6 first size sleepsuits and 4 unisex shprtie romper suits. Hopefully will be able to make do with those until I get home from hospital so I can trawl through next and order pretty boy/girl things

Vix that you won't get a long maternity leave but fingers crossed you have a lovely easy birth that you can be proud of and recover easily from

Growingbump at your nesting. Hoping mine will kick in when we come back from our holiday as theres gonna be a huge amount of washing to do!!
Am also wishing my nesting instinct onto dh so he can get on with all the flat-pack stuff we have lying around!!

Star/Bubba Hope the protein amounts to nothing and everythings fine

I've somehow lost a changing bag, it matches my lovely pramette and its missing . It has the matching pram apron in too, it better turn up or I'm going to strangle someone - it was being kept at mums house for safe keeping and she can't remember where it is . What do I do?

just read on another thread today that kcoffin has had a scan today and her baby isn't breech anymore and her placenta isn't low enough to be a concern anymore.

Just thought I'd update you all, she's posting on the 'gentle thread' on the pregnancy forum.

another list question.....should I take off the scan results now as we're well past 20wks now aren't we?

CazEM · 10/06/2010 15:54

Being off sick obviously makes me more productive! Made much better progress on my reports and individual plans today. I might actually finish them tomorrow a whole week early (due in next Friday!) if I keep this up!! I'm up my parents house while DH is in work today and they are fussing over me which is quite nice but I'm not a complete invalid either! Its like they don't want me to move at all! Haha!!

A very excited DH text me earlier saying he'd been out and bought me a lovely 'giving birth present' (said he was being prepared now!) and he is super thrilled with it and hopes I love it as much as he does! I wonder what it is!?! He can be so cute sometimes! I'm so impaitient for things like that, he'll have to hide it from me, cuz I won't be able to resist looking otherwise!

Cherry yay for your leave starting! Must be a lovely feeling to be able to relax. Only 5 working weeks left for me now when I return Monday after my lengthened half term break. Hopefully it will go quickly, especially as I now have extra appointments dotted in most weeks to break them up a bit!! Hope your changing bag turns up too btw.... I hate things going missing. I once sent a silk dress that DH had bought me one christmas to Mums to have buttons sewn on tighter and they somehow lost it! It turned up 2 years later at the back of a cupboard in a carrier bag!!! Dad had 'tidied' things away!!! I never wore the dress because in the meantime I'd gone up a dress size! Haha!

Not sure about the non-posters!? Are any of them just watchers? Although a list of actual regulars would be nice!

NichyNoo · 10/06/2010 16:32

Hello ladies - sorry not to have posted for a while. Things have been sooo busy!

Glad to hear everyone is well

We've amassed loads of baby clothes (pretty much all gifts) and other things (bouncer, baby bath etc. all bought by excited grandparents!) We've also started antenatal classes which makes it all seem very real

The only issue at the moment is the growing realisation that I will have to give birth...is it just me or is everyone else scared shitless?

CherryPie3 · 10/06/2010 17:01

Erm.... yes!! But I'm a lot more excited because I'm getting impatient as to what 'flavour' this baby is!

OP posts:
Chulita · 10/06/2010 17:02

Lol nichynoo, I'm really excited to give birth. I hated DD's experience but I'm just so incredibly excited to have this little one Roll on 6 weeks!

soontobefatnat · 10/06/2010 17:06

Nichy - yep. Scared shitless!!
