LCR, if it's any comfort, my DH weighs between 8.5 and 9.5 stone, so I always weigh more than him. At the moment, of course, I positively dwarf him .

Alicetheinvisible · 11/06/2010 13:37

I weigh at least a stone more than DH atm too.

Chulita i have to sit differently now as the laptop no longer sits on my 'lap'

pamplem0usse · 11/06/2010 13:45

Chulita Alice I manage to have mine at a sort of tilt!!

Thanks for your sweet messages, feeling better now.... watching World Cup Opening Ceremony and doing some prep before a really sweet girl we know is coming over for A Level history help (incentivised with tea and chocolate cake!)...

CherryPie3 · 11/06/2010 13:52

WRT laptops - I have to have mine on the arm of the sofa now! It just aint happening on my knee, plus our sofa is quite deep and cos its scatter back you kinda lay down on it.
If you're interested (and why would you be really) it's this one

Glad you're feeling better Pample xx

NichyNoo · 11/06/2010 13:56

Glad I'm not the only one that is scared

We 'did' labour at the antenatal class last night which made me feel a bit sick with worry.

star I have put on 1 stone so far...luckily all on belly and boobs (so far)

Anyways - Cherry could you update my age to 30 please as today is my birthday! Might have to save the partying until after August but I'm sure one glass of bubbly won't hurt him

Got growth scan next Thursday...can't wait to see him again!!!

Chulita · 11/06/2010 13:59

Of course we're interested - mners are a right bunch of nosey parkers funny how it comes in 'chocolate or noir' as opposed to 'brown or black'

Chulita · 11/06/2010 13:59

nichy happy birthday!

pamplem0usse · 11/06/2010 14:23

Ooh happy birthday Nichy! And I'm sure a glass will be absolutely fine... I had bubbles on my birthday xx

CherryPie3 · 11/06/2010 15:06

oooh Happy Birthday Nichy Hope you're having a lovely day.

Chulita It's the brown one we have although we were v.v.close to getting 'noir' - what really really annoyed me was the picture shows matching curtains and they weren't available! Had to get these instead. They're ok, but they're not the same

Hi pregnant ladies!

Not posted in ages as have been camping for the last month while the house is gutted. Back home now, well kinda, in one room in the house and have the caravan in the garden. Another few weeks and the bedrooms will be ready for me to start sorting out for the baby, finally. Nothing like leaving things until the last minute!

On the subject of weight, I have put on 7 7lbs, think I lost lots when ill with MS, but am HUGE!

Happy Birthday Nichy lovely weather for it!

Will try and check in a bit more often from now on!

ElusiveMoose · 11/06/2010 16:20

Just heard we got our planning permission for the loft conversion - very excited!!

Happy birthday Nichy and hi to everyone else. Will post properly later. xx

marzipananimal · 11/06/2010 17:38

that's great elusive!

happy birthday nichy and happy mat leave cherry, how exciting!

On prams, I'm getting the loola up (fast forward) - not getting the carry cot though as the push chair bit can face you and lie flat

Bubbabear · 11/06/2010 18:27

Happy birthday Nichy ! Hope you've had a lovely day so far. Can't wait for my b/day wknd Cherry pls could u update me to 30 yrs old now too pls.

I don't usually bother with checking my weight & only bought some scales out of curiosity when I found out I was pregnant. I've put on about a stone and a half, first time I've been into double figures! Not too bothered tho as my mum told me she put on 2 stone in both her pregnancies so I thought that would be quite acceptable & looks like that might be my weight gain too at the mo! Plus my mum is a similar build to me (normally) so im hoping I'll take after her & get back to my regular weight as quickly as she did. Here's hoping anyway! Not just for vanity reasons but it's such a horrible thought to think of getting rid of so many of my favourite regular clothes

I did read somewhere also (no idea where now - baby brain) that if u are overweight b4 pregnancy then you should expect to gain 1 stone, normal weight pre-preg u should gain 2 stone & if u were underweight b4 then a 3 stone gain Prob complete rubbish but hey, everyones different!

So jealous of people on mat leave! 6 weeks & counting!!

Have a happy weekend everyone x

CazEM · 11/06/2010 19:15

Well my lovely S-FIL has arrived and is making a start on baby's room! (He wasn't going to do it until next weekend or the weekend after but after her attempt at early escape he's doing it sooner for us!!) He is a painter/decorater by trade and therefore he reckons he can have it finished by Monday! I'm lucky to have these useful people in my family! Very excited, seems even more real now her room is being done. Won't be long until I can do all the finishing touches and put tiny baby clothes away!

Exciting about your planning permission Elusive

Moan of the day is terrible back ache - in the mid-section. I just can't find a comfortable position!

SIL and family friend are arriving soon to enjoy pizza and do my bump casting!

Regarding weight gain I had put on 10lb when I weighed last week. Well I've actually put on more than that if you include all the regained weight after all the sickness (I lost about a stone with sickness in the beginning), but I'm only 10lb heavier than pre-preg weight so I'm sticking with that story for now! Haha! I'm trying not to be too bothered by weight gain. I'm heavier than my dad now though! A long way off DH though - he is a big manly type!

How is everyone spending their weekend? I intend to do lots more resting as activity isn't seeming to be agreeing with bump at all. Looks like we're in for hot weather again! Oh and on all the football malarky - gotta be honest I'm glad DH doesn't do football - hoping I can escape world cup fever!!

Chulita · 11/06/2010 20:34

cazem I've got the same back pain, I think it's from sitting up straight/leaning forward cos I don't want lo to end up OP.

I've just finished half my baby blanket, only 24 more granny squares to do and it'll be finished. Doesn't sound like much but it's hard to find time to do it! I reckon I could get away with half a blanket for the first week or so anyway unless LO's a porker

thedogwalker · 11/06/2010 21:07

Hi everyone

Nichy Happy Birthday

Cherry This is my first child, I am 37 years old and I feel every one of those years right now!!! I live in Germany but am originally from Halifax.

CazEM Get signed off, you can never ever be too careful when it comes to your health.

Pample I know exactly what you mean, only today as DH settled in front of TV to watch footie. I come home from work and he asks me to fetch and carry his beer!!!!

Biddy I've bought the iCandy Peach. Ended up buying the whole package, based it on the reviews from this site, so it better be good.

As I live in Germany, alot of the baby stuff I've bought I've had sent to my Mum's as the German stuff is a bit naff. Am coming back to the UK next week to collect everything, show my bump off to my family and then come back to Germany. Both my DH and i are serving in the forces, so all our MW needs are met by British MWs, but I am going to a German hospital, with German Doctors. They do a hell of a lot of scans over here. I go for my 7th scan at the end of the month. Birth options are different aswell. I can have a birthing pool, aromatherapy, acupuncture, soft music, and then straight to the epidural. They do not give G&A or pethadine, so its all or nothing. Plus you have to book the epidural in advance, if you don't pre-book it then you don't get it, ouch........

I've also signed up to do a one day course in natal hypnotherapy when I'm back next week. So I will let you all know if it is worth doing or not. I will try anything to make the birth easier and less painful, as I am nervous about the pain and length of time in labour.

Well hopefully you all know me a bit better now and I'm not so much of a stranger.

Take care everyone and I'll sign in again tomorrow.

mrsZaC · 11/06/2010 21:56

hey ladies, just a quick hello, trying in vain to tidy & clean the flat on my own for a surprise viewing tomorrow, good that we have a viewing but I just can't get the energy up to tidy & clean without any help!

Is anyone else struggling with rib pain/discomfort I think I'm finding it particularly difficult with being in the office all day @ the desk I feel like I have something really tight around my ribs!! I think my boobs have also grown excessively over the last week which isn't helping matters, the last bra was a 34G and it's definitely getting far too small can't afford to get ANOTHER one but I may have to for sanity!

on the weight front I've been told I'm pretty neat, and still got the same size 10 maternity clothes I bought at 10 weeks preggo, it's been a while since I jumped on the scales but I'm guessing I've gained at least 1.5 stone so far as I was 1 stone gain @ 20 wks. Probably even more now as I demolished a whole pizza tonight in my defence though I'm just trying to get the energy up to tidy & clean the flat.

a little lost with the posts for today and yesterday so I'm sorry if I've missed anything major.

hello to newbie!
congrats on your planning permission elusive happy maternity leave cherry but only 5 wks left for me so not too bad
pample shame on your man, I hope he makes it up to you, I just don't think they think sometimes!
happy birthday nichy

best be off and get down to my cleaning happy weekend ladies.

thecoffeelady · 12/06/2010 00:11

hello ladies,

sorry have not posted for a while but I keep being distracted by other threads, there is a particularly amusing thread about P&T pushchairs on the aibu, infact that is where I am spending a lot of time.

I will catch up on here tomorrow and post more then!

Alicetheinvisible · 12/06/2010 09:24

Morning

Got lots to do today, so really should be geting on with it but.........

Anyway, we fitted our buggyboard to our buggy for a test drive yesterday. Takes a bit of getting used to! Need to get some buggy weights too as with DD leaning on the back it now feels too light at the front.

Also to add to our list is a new monitor. The one we used for DD got dug out the other day and is broken, but we only want another simple one.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

CazEM · 12/06/2010 10:44

Morning!

Well bump-casting was loads of messy fun! Haha! Even DH enjoyed himself with the helping!

Nursery is swiftly coming along! S-FIL has been here an hour and the ceiling is already done! and he's just started first coat of lovely pink!

neenz · 12/06/2010 13:46

Star, I don't think 5lbs is anything to worry about but check with your mw. It depends what your start weight was I suppose. If you were underweight to start with then 5lbs is probably not enough but if you were a more normal weight or overweight then it's probably fine. Are you having scans every 4wks now? They will show if anything is wrong. Have you seen your consultant about the birth? Are you hoping for vaginal delivery or are you not bothered?

I put on 3.5st with the twins and have put on 2st this time so far. By the time I'd finished BFing the twins though I was half a stone less than pre-preg weight

starshaker · 12/06/2010 15:24

neenz I was overweight to start with. Ive got another scan on thursday and seeing my midwife again on wed. Im hoping for a natural birth and im gonna try and talk them into letting me try without an epidural (standard procedure with twins at the hospital im going to). I really really dont want one. Im also hoping to breastfeed both and am thinking about going along to a bf suport group before the twins get here. The past few days have been really difficult, ive been so unbelievably tired all the time. Just finding it really hard to function normally. Pretty sure its to do with my iron lvls but before i had the blood tests done i wasnt feeling too tired which is weird. Im 29 weeks tomorrow so nearly at a stage i will be happy with if babies decide to come early (obviously i want them to stay in for as long as possible but I would worry less if i got to about 32 weeks)

growingbump2 · 12/06/2010 17:05

Hi everyone and welcome dogwalker Cherry well done on starting mat leave, it is the best thing ever mines does not start until 1st July but I had 7 weeks holiday to use before it and don't go back until 1st July 2011!

Pample will be so nice to have a nursery ready when all the hard work is out the way, we are going to start ours next week just needs a coat of paint so shouldn't be too hard am not much of a hoarder thankfully and recently moved so got all the junk chucked away then!

Am looking forward to a long lie tomorrow as DH is off, think I deserve it as have got DS potty trained obviously much harder work than DH has been doing all week going to have a chinese tonight and may go totally wild and have a half glass of wine, can't wait to have a good old night out, will have to wait until new year should have saved up enough expressed milk by then! Talking of milk is anyone else leaking yet, mines started today, the joys!

neenz · 12/06/2010 18:23

Star, I really feel for you with the tiredness. I remember it well. I struggled to sleep as I was so big and that doesn't help. In a way it would be good if it was iron levels - at least you can do something about that. I would say 5lbs is fine and actually a good thing if you were a little overweight to begin with.

I didn't have an epidural (it was standard procedure for twins at my hospital too). They told me they wanted me to have one but I said I wanted to try without and they said fine. If your consultant is insistent ask for another consultant! I had a natural birth altho had forceps with the first twin. It was a 10hr labour so not bad esp for first time. Emma Mahoney's 'Twins and how to survive them' has a very good section on natural birth including her birth plan which is a very helpful guide if you want to write one yourself!

Chulita · 12/06/2010 20:33

starshaker I think it's a brilliant idea if you can get along to a bf support group before they get here. I go to one here even though I stopped bfing DD a while ago and I love it, it's such a good group!
