Alice your list has just reminded me of the trouble I am having finding nightshirts for the hospital. I want dark colours, pref jersey material and ideally strappy rather than t-shirt style although I am willing to compromise on the t-shirt style. Has anyone spotted anything? If anyone does can they let me know pleeeeease. All I can find are light coloured nighties or pyjamas even in the maternity ranges!

Welcome summery.

Just had an apple for breakfast and am soooo full up and uncomfortable . Looking forward to the the baby dropping now. I'm also completely exhausted despite having easily got 8 hours sleep for the last few nights. And now I have to go postpone my maternity leave by 2 weeks

Alicetheinvisible · 25/05/2010 11:04

Crib has just been delivered!!

Aussie i got some cropped pyjamas in Peacocks the other day and they had a bit of a selection of different types of nighties.

I think some of the 'old lady' shops might do them. BHS, M&S etc (disclaimer: i don't think these are old lady shops, just that they do stock old lady clothes )

I might get some mens t-shirts from Primark or somewhere for labour/birth as they are so cheap i will be happy to chuck them afterwards.

Aussieng · 25/05/2010 11:42

LOL Alice - I think they are old lady shops but then again I got a nice top in Peacocks last week and their maternity clothes are much nicer and more summery than New Look.

Pay day on Friday for both DH (hurrah!) and I so a shopping spree may be in order for the few last bits and pieces of maternity clothing which I need.

marzipananimal · 25/05/2010 13:13

hi everyone, I've been on holiday for 10 days - hence the lack of posts. Lovely time though in sunny Devon

Had my 28 week mw appt this morning, all fine. I've moved surgery so it was a new mw but she's lovely. I was worrying slightly cos I've put on about 1 stone 10lb and asked if i should be cutting down on chocolate etc but she said No you should eat it all!

Following on from some of the earlier ladygarden comments, is it frowned upon to be really hairy in hospital these days? I can't bear the thought of waxing, shaving down there irritates my skin so much and creams are a bit if a faff (although the best option provided i can see what i'm doing!)

mrsZaC · 25/05/2010 14:21

Had a lovely converstation with the midwife this morning, she said it was no problem at all to leave my HIP application form at the reception, so thanks for the suggestion I mentioned that baby wasn't up to much yesterday and she said he/she was probably lying in a funny place that I couldn't feel very well, makes sense really cuz after stretching out at yoga I got some real belters of kicks! so I must have shifted baby's position. She also said to try chilling out with a cuppa for a while and concentrate on baby, or sitting in a bath and tapping the side of the bath, that can often wake baby up :D

marzipan glad you had a good time on holiday I'm due to got to Tiree this weekend but it's supposed to be horrible - typical!! will be good to get away thought. As far as lady gardens go, mine goes wild if it isn't tamed, I've kept up with my brazilian every 5 weeks as I'm getting rather paranoid when i'm swimming as I can't really see down there anymore! I'm sure it's not frowned upon though in general.

weehector & CellyD chair comes highly recommended, out of the chairs in the shop I found it the most comfy for me and not toooo ugly looking, think they had 10ish left in stock when i was in.

Cazem of your extra scan, what a nice surprise

blueberries re: dehydtration, good to keep in mind Thankfully I'm pretty vidgulent with my hydration.. make sure I drink at least 1.5 litres before leaving work.

Where did the sun go?!

Alicetheinvisible · 25/05/2010 15:03

MrsZ good news that baby is back with a vengeance today

marzipan there was a thread a while back about hairy bits and childbirth, and i think the general consensus was that there would be more important things to worry about than stray hair (as long as it wasn't completely blocking the view ) Will see if i can find it......

Alicetheinvisible · 25/05/2010 15:20

Can't find it i'm afraid, but if you start a thread you will get a lot of replies!

Aussieng · 25/05/2010 17:01

Marzipan my understanding is that if you are not used to shaving or waxing etc you should not start to do so just before giving birth and I think shaving in particular is not recommended (when you're not used to it). I looked into this a while ago because I don't wax or shave and find that the creams are not much cop such that I could not face the faff whilst this large. I will see if I can find the stuff I uncovered later tonight.

Just had appointment with Consultant. Finally they have accepted that I am as heatlhy and ancient first time mothers get and they don't want to see me again now until my due date. Hurrah!!!! Also he did a quick scan of the baby (which was nice) and he is head down and all is looking good.

Aussieng · 25/05/2010 17:02

8 weeks today until my due date - yikes!

Alicetheinvisible · 25/05/2010 17:11

Eek! very exciting though

TMI, but does anyone else feel they need to change their pants during the day? Don't know if it is due to it being so hot, but yuk

MW tomorrow and my '28wk' bloods (will be 29 +2) hopefully she will be happy that nothing else is happening and i can start being a bit more mobile.

marzipananimal · 25/05/2010 18:37

thanks alice, i found a thread on ladygarden grooming it's here if anyone's interested!

Samvet · 25/05/2010 22:18

Hello hello,
I am due the 28th August, can I join your thread!
First time and pretty scared.

CazEM · 26/05/2010 07:34

Morning all!

Welcome Samvet - if you want post your stats Cherry master of lists can add your details too! (e.g. age, location, boy/girl/surprise). I think we've all had our moments of being scared, but I'm mainly just excited now!!

Had a nice evening last and went to IKEA with Mum after work so didn't have time to post - can't wait to go to IKEA again and finally buy the wardrobe and chest of drawers I want for the nursery!! Will defo be doing more work to the nursery this weekend! Our bargain baby monitor arrived last night too - I love it!! The little dog camera thingy is just so cute, and the picture quality is really good! It must be good cuz even DH was really pleased and he is fussy about his gadgets!!

With you on the knickers thing Alice - I've started always wearing pantyliners so I feel like there is a fresh layer I suppose every couple of hours! I was starting to feel like that before the hot weather arrived though... lots of pleasent things go on in pregnancy doesn't it!! Haha!

Oh and yesterday DH phoned the private hospital and has got a consultant appointment this Friday. What a difference paying makes....

Right I got uni again today so I need to get a move on! Struggled getting up this morning - thank goodness it is half term next week for a well earned rest! Have a lovely day all! x x

girlsyearapart · 26/05/2010 08:10

marzipan she sounds like a nice midwife!

Things seem to have settled down a bit for me though still not feeling quite 'right'

But hey I've made it to 30 weeks!

samvet welcome. Are you actually a vet? be warned I'll plague you with questions if you are..

Have a good day all

bouncingblueberries · 26/05/2010 09:10

Hurrah for girls - happy 30th week!

alice omg! I have been meaning to ask exactly the same thing for about a week! Eventually gave my lady garden a severe trim at the weekend and that seems to have improved the situation - so much so that I'm seriously considering a brazilian (yikes!). Only ever gone as far as a holiday bikini wax before, so not quite so severe as a brazilian...hmm, need to ponder. Maybe just fresh knickers and/or panty liners are the less severe option!

Have my best friend staying for a couple of nights just now and it's just soooo lovely. We haven't actually seen each other for over a year, but it feels like just last weekend! Absolutely love her! Only thing is, we talk and talk and talk until waaaaaay too late, so i know I'm going to be knackered by the weekend - poor dh! He has to put up with all sorts of conversations from us!

Anyways, have a lovely day girls. Glad is cooler, but wish the sun would come out just a smidge!

growingbump2 · 26/05/2010 10:54

Morning ladies, enjoying the cooler weather today, am going to stay in and battle on with the potty training. Hi to samvet! at the lady garden chat, I would love to be able to see mine, feel yuk! Went to drs yesterday re bp and protein got sent to maternity unit for further tests and got sent home last night they are going to keep an eye on me and have to go back if any swelling, headaches etc, was fine with first baby so it is a bit of a surprise to have these symptoms second time round. Have a good day everyone! Aussie can't believe you only have 8 weeks to go!

babyducky · 26/05/2010 11:17

marzi that ladygarden thread is brilliant - I've nearly pee'd my pants reading it this morning. Thanks for trawling back to find it.

YummymummyKJulie · 26/05/2010 11:27

Morning Ladies!

Welcome to samvet

Congratulations to all! 30 week!! YEAY! I am so jelaous that you can ladies be here and have time to chat....Working full time and still studying and trying to organise myself is soo bloody hard...as soon as I walk in to the doors I am exahusted and I am landing in bed....that is so difficult to catch up...on here..

Alicetheinvisible I am so impressed you already have so much....;-) I have so many more things to get and I am panicking it will not be enough time ...;-)

I have 7 weeks more to be at work and I am starting to feel grim that I decided to work 3 wks before my due date but well I wanna spend more time with baby at home I suppose :-)

2 more day and Bank holidays is here!! YAY!!

You all have a lovely day

xx

pamplem0usse · 26/05/2010 12:11

Morning ladies!

I'm also loving the cooler weather.... much nicer to be able to wander into town without looking like I've taken a (sweat urg) shower by the time I get there.

Alice and ladies with your hospital bags, I'm very impressed. I'm gradually trying to get my stuff together and have tried to buy some nice new stuff (lovely new washbag and some nice but sensitive toiletries) so I don't feel like a complete slummy mummy.

Caz make sure you have a nice break over half time, no more mammoth essays I hope?! And Julie I'm very impressed at the working full time and studying.... I just study full time (although I was hitting 70+ hours a week before my massive deadline) and I find that difficult enough, can't imagine how hard it must be to have to trail into work on top of it!

And I'm so looking forward to the bank hol; I can't remember the last time I actually had a bank holiday off!! Wish me luck.... I've got my mega presentation tomorrow (although my supervisors assure me there's no reason it shouldn't go sparklingly I still feel a bit panicked!)... and then It'll only be six weeks till my maternity leave (well five, as I've a week in sussex in between, yay!!)....

CherryPie3 · 26/05/2010 12:48

Hiya ladies

Welcome to Samvet - post your details hun and I'll pop you on the list next time I'm in work.

DS not very well again today, been to docs and he has a viral infection and so was prescribed calpol - but got given a white medicne? Hoping it tastes the same cos ds is very fussy!!

Hoping everyones ok and having lovely days. Sorry for no personals but I'm just soooo tired with getting up with ds through the night and then being woken up by my pelvis.

QUESTION - For anyone who has, or has had SPD, have you ever felt something 'snap' before? I was getting up off the sofa last night and it literally felt like something was pulled tight and then snapped. Kept me up last night cos it's a lot more tender than before and it's causing mega problems when I' driving.

Any ideas?

Take Care xxx

Hello all I'm back! Had a blissful honeymoon in Santorini. Neither of us had ever been to Greece before and OMG what a relaxed chilled out island. We didn't do much - slept, swam, ate fish and it was just what the doctor ordered. Extended the break by having another day off today to put off yukky return to work for as long as poss. My colleague in our team of two resigned due to stress and overwork leaving just errr....ME to hold the fort! Yikes!

Ladies what a treat to be pregnant in greece - people are so sweet with old dears giving me flowers from their gardens and the restaurants pushing free desserts on us and everyone making sure that we always had a lift home - wow!

i think baby loved it so much that it sat up to take in the sites as 28 week check up this morning revealed that it is breech, presenting bum down! Naughty, I do hope it rights itself but there is loads of time yet.

Time is flying, getting sooooo excited now!

cakeywakey · 26/05/2010 14:59

Afternoon all,

Santonrini LCRLCR you lucky thing, glad you had a lovely time. I love Greece and can't wait to take both my girls there in a few year's time when they're over that very young stage. So family friendly.

Had a MW appt earlier and all is well, always nice to hear the baby's heartbeat and be reassured that everything is going as it should.

All going well on our housemove too. Might be in by the end of next month! It's all going sooooooo fast
