LCR - Glad you had a super honeymoon! Shame you've had to return to work with you holding the fort on your own - if your collegue has left with stress, make sure to try and take it all in your stride - pregnant women dont need extra stress!! Not what you need coming up to maternity leave is it really?! Positive vibes for baby turning too!

pample - it is unfortunate I do have another essay I really should be starting to get done before I start my maternity leave - its not due in until September but I decided to do this module and get the essay in before I gave birth so it was one less module to do in the long run when I start the course again... I'm regretting that decision slightly but hopefully I'll get to grips with it better than the last one! I'm already more enthused by it so its a good sign! Haha! I'm not going start in in half term though, that'll be my weekend treat through end of June I think! lol! Much luck for your presentation tomorrow!

Other than that my half term plans do consist of a little bit of school work - school report time or year, but hoping to get most of that done over this weekend so I can enjoy the rest of the week doing baby things/fun things/nothing! Have a day out planned with Mum for her birthday, our first antenatal class is the Thursday and we have a shopping trip planned to buy rest of baby bits and pieces, hospital bag things and start getting that organised!

The weeks really are flying by now arn't they!? We'll be starting our post-natal thread before we know it!!!

weehector · 26/05/2010 17:18

welcome Samvet and others.

LCR Santorini sounds bliss, I've always wanted to go there...glad everything went well but good to have you back.

I start antenatal classes at 7pm tonight. The class is 15 miles away but I'm still looking forward to seeing if there are any other pregnant ladies close by who will be happy to share the early baby months with me. DH is being a bit of a grump about going - he's not the biggest social animal in the world anyway but he's probably feeling self conscious that, in his 40's, he'll be the oldest first time daddy in the room.

bouncing hurrah for appreciating your oldest and dearest pals. Have been making an effort to travel around the country in a similar mission to make sure I see everyone before I'm distracted and have been feeling the love (and talking till all hours) too!

marzipananimal · 26/05/2010 17:50

your honeymoon sounds lovely LCR!
My baby was breech at 28 week appointment too (or so mw thought). Does anyone know at what stage you need to start worrying about it being breech? I'm hoping that's a while off!

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 18:15

Evening

LCR sounds lovely, my sort of holiday

weehector i think generally you get more 'older' parents at the antenatal groups, round here you do anyhow

MW went ok, BP very low (as usual)bump now measuring a week behind, despite measuring 3 weeks over last week Still getting the strong BH/cx but have done more than i should today. Now resting on the sofa.

I did pack an overnight hosp bag though with the idea being that if it is there then i won't need it

JamieJay · 26/05/2010 19:59

Can I add myself to the list please, joined right briefly back at the start but it's only since I've passed 30 weeks that I'm starting to believe it's all really happening!!

02 Aug - JamieJay, #1, Cardiff. Age 29 - 20 wk scan okay. GIRL

girlsyearapart · 26/05/2010 20:17

cherry maybe it was calprofen? that is white not pink. We have to buy it as calpol makes dd2 itchy (along with most other stuff in the world!)

blueberries those are just the kind of friends you need- I'm seeing mine on friday as she lives near where we're going to the wedding.

lcr congrats and glad you had a lovely time.

jamiejay welcome back.

wrt breech babies- I don't think they worry until right at the end.

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 20:19

Girls how are your cx?

Chulita · 26/05/2010 20:19

Hello everyone!

Stopped posting for a couple of days cos I felt like crap over the weekend and then my parents and brother and sil came to visit so we've been busy. I needed the morale boost though cos I was feeling a bit low

I've caught up but there's too much to respond to. lcrlcr so glad you had a brilliant honeymoon!

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

girlsyearapart · 26/05/2010 20:31

alice pretty much gone- the painful ones at least. Have had some funny pains but am just ignoring them..

How about you?

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 20:39

Ok if i do NOTHING, but as soon as i do anything more strenous i get them back. Just like very early labour or how strong ones feel after an epidural iyswim? Just having to go really slowly, it is driving me mad!

thecoffeelady · 27/05/2010 00:35

LCR We always holiday in the Greek Islands but I have never been to Santorini it is somewhere I have always wanted to go. We went to Zakynthos last August when DD was 15 months and the people were lovely. We stayed in a tiny tiny very Greek village and it was bliss.

Baby is very wriggly at the moment and to be honest it quite uncomfortable although it is nice to have a active little soul in there.

bouncingblueberries · 27/05/2010 09:05

Morning girls!

Yeah for appreciating our oldest, best friends indeed!

Okay, so I have a question. Now, being a 2nd time mum you'd think I'd know what braxton hicks felt like...But I keep getting this really tender area in the top right corner of my bump. It gets really, really sore but feels nothing like contractions did with ds or the braxton hicks I had with ds - those were more an all over tightening where the entire bump would go rock hard and would be quite uncomfortable but never catch your breath painful. Anyone got any ideas? Sometimes the tender area is on the left, but mostly it's on the right, mostly in the evenings and often I do feel it turns into the braxton hicks I used to get with ds. They're just a bit weird...

Better get on with some work I suppose. girls have fun with your friend and enjoy the wedding - I'm still not convinced my ankles are fit to be on display, but then again, not sure if I care anymore!

Alicetheinvisible · 27/05/2010 09:52

Is it a knee or a foot jammed in? Sometimes i feel almost bruised on the outside from the baby's foot or knee or bum

bouncingblueberries · 27/05/2010 10:11

It does feel like there's a bum there alice but boy does it hurt!

starshaker · 27/05/2010 10:37

BBB i get that on my right side aswell. Think ita just where they are pressing against. Agree it is very painfull. I find leaning to the opposite side helps (makes you look abit mad when your standing in a shop though).

Ive just had a trip to the docs this morning and i have a chest infection. The coughing is killing me. Got antibiotics and steroid tablets so hopefully that will shift it quick. Other than that im actually feeling really good. Only sore if i do too much.

Aussieng · 27/05/2010 12:01

blueberries I get that too and it is definitely his bum (consultant confirmed it for me on Tuesday as I thought it was the head). There are some "drop" exercises in the "what to expect when you are expecting" book if you have it (if not I can post them on here) which may help relieve it (basically get on all fours and arch and release your back IIRC). Also if it is the bum you can just very gently push down on it and they do move a bit - no good if it is their heel though which I currently have jammed into my other side What was funny is that last night he was really giving me some welly in my left side so I was massaging that point where he was kicking with my thumb and fingers and at one point he kicked so far out that I caught his foot in my fngers. I don't know who was more shocked - him or me [grin}

LCR - so glad you had a great honeymoon. I've never been to Santorini (looks so picturesque) but am another Greekophile. I learned Greek for about 3 years and would love to live nearer to London so that I could go to a proper Greek school for lessons. Buying a house in Greece is in my 5 year plan too.

Chulita · 27/05/2010 12:28

blueberries I get that too, too painful to touch most of the time. Didn't get it with DD either but I think my stomach muscles are weaker so I feel it more. I think the others are right, it's a bit of baby poking out

I was convinced this one was transverse and then the other day it moved big style, it really hurt but now I've got lumps under my ribs so it was obviously worth it not to have a transverse baby!

star I hope you shake that cough off quickly!

bouncingblueberries · 27/05/2010 14:10

chulita, aussie and star I'm glad it's not just me! Phew! Was starting to get seriously paranoid about it. I just couldn't understand why it was soooooooo painful. Will resort to some yoga positions in future to ease it (thanks for tip aussie). star hope you feel better soon - chest infections are rotten!

neenz · 27/05/2010 16:45

There are also exercises you can do to encourage baby to turn head down - not sure what they are except going on all fours and putting your head on the floor . Google it and I'm sure you'll find some. Definitely avoid slouching around - sit up straight on the sofa etc [boring]

I saw MW for 28wk check on Tues - she said the baby was all out front (placenta at back) which is why I am getting loads of movement and look like I have a beach ball up my top (not really put any weight on anywhere else). Size 10 mat jeans are still too baggy round the bum which is ironic as I am never a size 8 when I am not pg .

soontobefatnat · 27/05/2010 18:00

Hello all! Resurfacing after general house move chaos/house fumigation chaos/dad staying for 2.5 weeks chaos etcetc. Glad all are well and ditto everyone's thoughts about LCR's honeymoon. God, sounds so blissful! I've got a couple of days left and I'm using them to pop over to Ireland to see my granny/mad family and it will probably be entirely rainy and definitely nothing to report home about on the food/beach front! No Guinness either - waah!

Also ditto everyone on rib aches - it has actually been an uncomfortable old week for me. The first time I've felt sorry for myself in pregnancy. Yoga stretches do help - when I have the energy to do them.

In other news, We just found out about this huge restructuring coming at us at work (public sector). Gonna be messy and I'll definitely have to interview for my job at some point while on maternity leave. I'm especially worried about being kept out of the loop on stuff by accident because I won't be in the office. My manager is shit at communicating important info to my team when we're all in! Ah well, I guess it's not entirely unexpected.

pamplem0usse · 27/05/2010 20:27

LCR very very jealous, sounds delightful....
Everyone else -- almost getting a bit jealous of the rib aches!
Third Trimester Day One to me today..... wooo and what a lovely one it's been. First DH made me a lovely brunch, then I went into town to do my 'Upgrade' to PhD status, basically massive presentation and a grilling. And my supervisor said he thought it was one of the best he'd seen and I passed, yippeee so happy. MIL bought me some lovely Neals Yard bath oil as a special treat, lovely! Also got taken to Le Pan Quotidian for a snack before my presentation (yummy fruit salad) and then went for delicious afternoon tea at the National Gallery restaurant afterwards.... bit jealous of my MIL and SIL's champagne, but hey!!! So it feels like my birthday....... SO thrilled! Sorry for going on.... ahh!

cakeywakey · 27/05/2010 21:09

Wow, should we call you Dr Pamplemousse now? That's just fantastic! You go on as much as you like, you must be on top of the world

pamplem0usse · 27/05/2010 21:10

cakey not quite, another hoop to jump before that, but 2/3 on my way!

weehector · 28/05/2010 00:43

Clever, old Pamplemousse. Go girl, you've worked hard to deserve those lovely, spoiling treats. I think 2010 is shaping up to be a good year for you!

I've just had an evening watching politics on tv because I was too lazy to actually get off the sofa and do anything else (tho Alastair Campbell is always compulsive viewing too..). Getting up is starting to require a bit of effort on my part and I'm pretty much pain free at the moment..god knows how those of you with serious pelvic problems are doing.

I'm also starting to become curious as to what bits of Baby Weehector are poking me in different bits, although I'm not going to worry myself about what position baby is in for birth until the MW actually lays some hands on me nearer the time. Time for a quick Google, I think. The other girl in my yoga class had a 4D scan last night and says that its wonderful to actually know how her baby is lying and what bits are moving where but I just can't justify the cash for a scan. But how amazing, Aussie, to catch a wee foot like that!

Had my first antenatal class last night and tbh, I was a bit underwhelmed by the whole thing...the MW was nice enough but there was nothing new to pick up that I hadn't learned from books. Huge class too and as expected, we were definitely firmly at the the top of the older parents spectrum. Maybe everyone has their kids much younger in Ayrshire. However, there's a chance I might get free hypobirthing classes - had to conspire with the MW to exagerate a needle phobia as its not available to everyone - if she can get me a place it may have been worth going along just for that alone.

Right, I'm going to try sleeping - it was 5.45am before I managed to get over to sleep last night becuase of my restless legs & feet and I didn't get up until 11am. It feels like I'm starting to turn night into day at the moment.

Oh and HiP grant went into bank account yesterday - 9 days after posting ao they're obviously processing pretty fast just now.

Chulita · 28/05/2010 08:08

Happy Friday ladies!

weehector a friend had a scan on Monday cos she was measuring big and her baby had turned from breech to head down 'cept the sonographer said that it could just as easily turn again. Part of me wonders if it's worth paying the money when nothing keeps it in place til the time to squeeze it out! It'd be nice to see LO again though

Congrats pample! Glad people spoilt you as well
