hermya doubt it but is your employer the same as mine( as in do we share policies) or are you a national one? Have had a shirty letter regarding sick time & could do with the sick policy. It's in employement issues if anyone else can help in a general way.

Xavielli · 22/05/2010 15:41

I'm loving the sun. Been out in the back garden, the kids are frollicking naked with a bucket of freezing cold water and are loving it.

Did get a bit hot for me after about 45mins though, so going to lay on the sofa instead.

floozietoozie · 22/05/2010 16:11

Just hung some washing on our newly erected line and got cooked in the time it took. Mum's taken ds to park am hoping he won't overheat. Off for lie down too.

Elsa, sounds a bit crap your surgery! Hope u get an answer quickly.

Hi Ladies and all those litte bumps!

Havent been on here for a bit but think I have caught up now. Will try and keep up over the next few days now,was a bit hard this week as my Dad has been in hospital waiting for a vein bypass to be done on his leg to try and save his foot but at the last minute they decided to amputate his leg right up above his knee.I couldnt believe it,I knew there was always a chance of them doing it but it still an almighty shock.Really dont know how he will cope he is 86 cant see him ever getting used to a false limb anyway we will see.

So...... big congrats to those who have now found out what they will be having.....now I have decided to I cant wait!

Hope everyone is feeling well and coping in this short summer .

Floozietoozie thanks for asking after me the other day ,I am fine ta.I had my PCR results come through on Monday and the were all negative for Downs,Edwards and Pataus. So just waiting on the full results to drop on the doormat.
I am so glad you had such good care and I hope you are feeling ok BUT hanging the bloody washing out is NOT taking it easy,I shall be coming round there to smack someones wrists!
Anyway when do you get your results through?

xxxxx

SilverSky · 22/05/2010 21:27

This heat is a killer eh!!? I nearly overheated.

Also think the sin has effected my brain cos I burst into tears in the supermarket earlier with Husband. Looked a right wreckbut he gave me a cuddle and went to get me a drink. I was expecting water or something but no apparently Fanta is more refreshing ! Go figure! Still a lush gesture all the same so not comlplaining really.

Haven't managed to do an awful lot other than some of the washing. Squeezed in a nap for about 40 mins and was much needed.

Going shopping tmw as clothes for work just won't work anymore. Came home from work on Friday and Husband laughed at my clothes. Admittedly he is no Gok Yuan or whatever his name is but am now paranoid that people at work were prob giggling at me.

Am 19 wks on Mon and got my scan Thurs pm. Am really hoping everything is going to be ok. An bit anxious but think that logically if tummy is growing then something must be happening in there. Pregnancy ESP the first can be such a tough experience. Roll on Thursday and roll on the good news. Am sure it will all be just A. O. K. Got to be positive.

lilsteel1 · 22/05/2010 22:22

katy hey we can be 10.10.10 buddies lol, just had email at work summoning all 94 of us to a meeting but not saying what for??

made my heartburn 200% worse lol

hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine

shieldbug · 22/05/2010 23:45

Had a fabulous day at the giant's causeway as we have a friend visiting from England. Walked way too far but loved it (I did lots of hiking before being preggers and miss it) and don't seem to be suffering too much. The weather has been uncharacteristically hot for NI. If you haven't been to the north coast of Ireland, I recommend it- it's so beautiful, especially in the sun and when lots of flowers are blooming. We then drove back home along the coast road, another awesome sight before enjoying a bbq. Perfect!

floozietoozie · 22/05/2010 23:48

MMooMar thank you for the slap. You're quite right. I'm so glad everything went well for you too, obviously fingers crossed for the longer results. I was getting worried not hearing anything from you. But I'm so sorry about your dad. That must be just awful for the poor man and your family. Hope he will be ok.

I should get mine back Tues or Wed. Gulp.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/05/2010 07:56

Good morning everyone!

Mmoomar- good to see you again congrats on fab results, what a relief! So sorry to hear about your dad- such a shock and difficult rehabilitation for him at his age. I hope he has got a fantastic teamaround him, and I hope all improves from here

I just about survived the heat yesterday- picnicing in new forest by a stream that ds could play in. Very hot but lovely- walking in the woods afterwards was lovely, everyone else was on the beach
I can recommend loose maxi dresses- mine managed to keep me cool and comfortable!

Shieldbug- hadn't clocked you were NI, v envious of having the giant's causeway nearby. Closest I've ever been is trekkng and camping in connemara, never made it further up!

floozietoozie · 23/05/2010 09:33

Ooh Shieldbug I'd love to go to NI and the causeway. I've spent a lot of time in the Republic but have only got the bus through NI to Donegal once. Seashells my best friend's parents have a cottage right on the western tip of Connemara and I've spent many a drunken happy time there. Been on beaches with sand and sea the colour of the Caribbean, an illusion only shattered when you plunge into sub-zero temperatures .

Day three of the garden beckons. I am getting a bit bored but it's in a good cause. Rather bored than in trauma! I'm sorry to have missed the chance of going to the beach but it's hard work with ds so no chance this weekend.

Katy86 · 23/05/2010 09:48

floozietoozie · 23/05/2010 10:41

Sorry lilsteel I haven't said hello yet. Hello . If I've missed any other new people in the past week or so, hello to you too - I've been somewhat preoccupied.

Nymphisseeingstars · 23/05/2010 10:42

Having a bad morning. Got up, made breakfast, ate half , threw up, fell asleep on bathroom floor. Dd1 couldn't wake me so phoned dh to come home & now been sent back to bed with phone & iplayer.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 23/05/2010 10:59

Nymph! You take it easy. Are they checking you again soon?

Just back from the beach- ds and I are so fair it's lovely to go early before the crowds and heat get unbearable! Traumatised though as I suspected next door were nudists, and I can confirm they are : retired and gardening, and no the fence screen is not enough to protect my eyes!!

Nymphisseeingstars · 23/05/2010 11:25

seashells

Am back on Friday. Dd1&i watching loads of junior masterchef & I'm hungry now

floozietoozie · 23/05/2010 11:41

nymph blimey you are having a rough old time, poor thing. Lots of rest for you now.

Seashells well your ds and the baby (sorry can't remember if you know what you are having) will grow up with an early understanding of the natural process of ageing . Maybe it will do something to counteract all the awful botoxed, airbrushed horrors around in the media.

It really annoys me that everytime I refresh the display, my iPhone deletes my username and logs me out so I have to keep filling it in again. Do any other users know any way round this? Sometimes it will fill in my username when I start typing but not if I've been on mn on a computer. I tried to shorten my name to just Floozie because of this but some other swine person has got it.

HermyaHasBeenQuattroed · 23/05/2010 14:42

nymph No we don't come under the same people, we're managed separately to you guys. But with your sick leave I would take it that it is similar to how mine works. If you take time off for things relating to pregnancy then they can't use it against you in regards to discipline issues. Thats part of employment law as well. You have hinted that your Doc isn't happy with the way your pregnancy seems to be affecting you so I take it that your illness is pregnancy related. If you weren't pregnant would this be happening to you? You need to stress this to your hr person, also get your Doc to put on your sick notes that it is due to pregnancy. I don't know if this helps but this is what I got told. Also have you got a union? If so it might be worth talking to your rep as they generally are good at advising about stuff like this.

AbFabT · 23/05/2010 16:03

Tyson, hope you get it sorted with the homebirth if that's what you want. Good luck.

floozie, yeah, are we allowed to know who your DH is?
I'd love to write a book - I will, one day! One day! Must get motivated.

Nymph, hope you stop seeing stars soon. You chill, please!

Moo, hope your dad is recovering well. Must be so traumatic to lose a limb, poor guy. But I guess it was necessary.

shieldbug, nice - I have wanted to get to the Giant's Causeway for ages. Will go when we have children to enjoy it too!

I had my scan on Friday afternoon but haven't been online until now - but I am happy to report our baby is looking well - no signs of anything wrong, so we are very relieved. Got a very clear shot of our baby's face, and the jawline is clearly mine! As such, we think we might be having a girl - but we didn't want to know, so this is just a guess, but I suppose a baby boy could have my jawline too. So then we went straight up to Cheltenham as we were combining a visit with friends with a trip to the Baby Show in Birmingham.
The show was brilliant, and I am planning on going to the London one in October. Bought the Stokke pram for an absolute bargain! Can't believe how good the offers were. Yippee! Also put in an order for a nursing chair (bargain), a beanbag (bargain), and a few other bits and pieces (all bargains!). Bought a coat/poncho thing for a one-year old too - I know I haven't even got a newborn yet, but it was so lovely I HAD to get it! Oh oh oh, I am still buzzing! Really successful day of shopping.

Also got my hypnobirthing CD and book in the post, so going to start reading up on that from tomorrow. Now I need to sit down and put my feet up. Ahhh.

Nymphisseeingstars · 23/05/2010 16:28

floozie fo you click the keep me logged in? I have that on my iPhone & don't have any problem

abfab glad the baby show was good. Would have gone if there was one at Manchester bu the others are too far

hermya this note has pg related on. HR are saying I've used all my full paid days for the year but I was only off for odd days before this

Hermya321 · 23/05/2010 16:46

Nymph Ah right, it's more of an issue over pay isn't it. I don't know about that one to be honest as every company differs with how they approach it. I would have thought that your people would have been better with it than what you say.

OP posts:
AbFabT · 23/05/2010 17:12

Nymph, I met the lady who runs this at the BabyShow - just in case you need it:
www.babylaw.co.uk

Yeah, Birmingham was a fair old trek for us, but really worth it, as we saved so much with our purchases.

Nymphisseeingstars · 23/05/2010 17:30

I think ( hope) they have their dates wrong on the letter. I make it 10 days tops off this year and they said I have gone over 48 at the start of May( before this period!)

am so glad I'm not at work this week my office is sooo hot and it takes a few days to get the aircon organised
which then makes v little difference. Am back on bed now cos I've over heated after 20 mins sitting in the sun sieveing tadpoles.

abfab I think I'm still a bit scared of buying stuff. I look & dh says shall we get it? And I say not yet!

Anyone else been looking at when to finish work? I was going to use my leave to extend work by shortening my weeks til the end of Sept. Butsince consultant said I was likely to only go to 38 weeks I was looking at going earlier. I have so much leave left to use and I'm off for holiday in middle of august I'm looking at stopping then. Especially since I'm not coping v well.just need my
manager back to discuss it with her!

AbFabT · 23/05/2010 18:58

I hope so too, Nymph. Must be a mistake.

I am the same about the shopping, but now we've had our 20-week scan, I am feeling a bit more confident. I'm a a couple of weeks ahead of you, but did feel like you do when I hadn't had the scan. The over-cautious me would ideally wait 'til about 24 weeks, but the show was this weekend and the bargains were too good to miss.

Depending on my work situation, I was planning on working as late as possible - it's a short walk to work, and I can do the job easily, so felt I'd manage. I also have 42 days of leave left til March 2011, so was hoping to use them to start with, and then have my official maternity leave start when that ends.

Nymphisseeingstars · 23/05/2010 19:44

42 days gives plenty of time off! Are you full time?I have 80ish hours and do 18.5 a week. I'll also have some flexi butvhopefully not too much as I'm trying not to go over too much

AbFabT · 23/05/2010 20:12

I know - it adds a month and a half to my maternity leave! AND I accrue leave while I am on maternity leave, so at the end, should have an extra month or so too!
Yeah, I am full-time.
