Hi again thanks for the good wishes. I'm currently sitting in the newly done garden with my feet up and that's where I'm planning to stay for the next three days at least. Well, I had abit of a wait which didn't help the old nerves but the procedure went very well technically, the consultant said. Very quick, not painful at all, just like the slight scratch when blood is taken. He said things which can indicate problems are having a bit of blood in the amniotic fluid, showing the needle hadn't done it cleanly I suppose, or the baby getting distressed and neither thing happened, so great news there. The consultant was lovely, really warm, caring Irish man. When he talked to me afterwards he gave my hand a squeeze when he left, very opposite of distant professional. And the mw who was in too was equally warm. I love the NHS - people's capacity to care never ceases to astound me. I found that when ds was in special care.

Friday five:

book - it would have been unheard of fr me not to have been reading something pre children... However I'm planning to read DPs nearly finished novel this weekend as Ive been promising to for ages. Othewise it's mostly Little Rabbit's New Baby atm .

  1. Facebook to keep up with people, Twitter mainly for news feeds. Im looking forward to hopefully good news next week then I can finally make my FB announcement. (see qu 5)
  1. Nursery - baby will stay withmefor at least 6months, then in with ds, whose room isstill like it was when we moved in, ie not child decor but we do have stuffup on the walls. I'd like ir redone b4 baby comes. Dp doesn't see it as a priority .
  1. It's been surprising to see a little bump come much earlier this time, although my pg friend on wed didn't notice and was amazed when I told her how far along I am. Once next week is over I will feel marvellous about it. I don't remember people touching it without asking last time but as I only had a noticeable one for about 7/8 weeks if that last time maybe they didn't get the chance! I'll be happy to wear a bikini if I get the opportunity. My only stretch marks are on my thIghs and a bit on my bum and were nothing to do with pregnancy - I got stretch marks from growing when I was about 11! Actually I think the bum ones may have developed in recent years a bit.
  1. The qu's are great. My personal paranoia will end if/once I a) get through the next few days without miscarrying and b) get an all clear next week for downs, Edwards and the other more common one (really I have to wait two weeks for the final result because they check all the chromosomes for rarer abnormalities but I don't think that will play on my mind much.) then I am going to relax and finally enjoy this pregnancy and not worry about early birth or anything until someone tells me I need to.

This weather is amazing. I hope you all enjoy it.

Elsa123 · 21/05/2010 14:12

Hello all! Dilly -I've read that a hairy belly (when you don't normally have one) can be more testosterone in your system which little boy babies produce....but that could be rubbish!

19+1 today and I had my 2nd MW appointment lasting less than 10 mins, but all the important (for me) stuff was done- brilliant blood pressure (I think helped by the reflexology I had last night as I was very stressed by work) and a heartbeat heard straight away and the baby kicked the doppler! It was quite funny when the MW said it may take a while to get the heartbeat and there it was on first touch. Very reassuring. I have my scan on Monday. My bloods are back at my GPs and they want me to make an appointment to discuss them. Is this routine?

Friday 5:

1)what book are you currently reading and would you recommend it? Wolf Hall only just started it.

  1. facebook, Twitter or neither? Neither.

  2. have you finished the nursery/planned it and if so do you have a theme? (this is not such a mad qu, I know one woman who finished hers by 20 weeks " so her cats can get use to it" Its almost finished except the inside of the wardrobes have not been fitted out and the doors aren't on yet. No curtains up and no carpet- but that will happen soon. Its all white and we'll add colour with accessories and stuff.

  3. How do you feel about your bump? Like people touching it? Show it off? Would you wear a bikini?! A bit weird and no one but my DH has touched it (oh and the MW) as no one else really knows.

5)Are these weak questions or am I being paranoid?! When does pregnancy paranoia disappear and when do we feel normal again?!! No they're fine and I don't know!

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 14:14

hi Floozie great to hear from you and glad you had a good experience.

Have I read that right - has your DP written a novel? Crikey! (awed emoticon) I soooo want to do that but just..er...don't, clearly don't want to that much eh?

I have puberty stretch marks too.... I never think about them now, or my cellulite...or spider veins...jaysis I should be walking around in a tent! You missed the hairy tummy conversation earlier... I am a mutant...rilly.

floozietoozie · 21/05/2010 14:21

Oh and Xav it was lovely to see LO on screen briefly. The sonographer said from a brief look all seems well so hopefully that bodes well for the anomaly scan. My cyst on the right ovary seems to have grown though and is now a bit over 5cm but not worried at all about that in the light of everything else.

Xavielli · 21/05/2010 14:25

I have puberty stretchmarks on my boobs and thighs, they have never really bothered me as I think most people get them to some degree.

My stretchmarks from pregnancy have always facinated me. With DS they were all to the sides, just above my hips and with DD they came all the way up the front around my belly button. They are silver now and don't bother me at all. I can't wait to find out how this one will leave it's mark on me. I get quite earth mother-y about them. It's like my belly button is where my mother nurtured me when I was in her womb, and now that is surrounded by the proof that I've done the same for my children.

Xavielli · 21/05/2010 14:29

Floozie - So glad everything went well. It must have been so reassuring to have a nice doctor there. Enjoy the 3 day rest, get DP to look after DS whilst you read

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 14:31

I like that xav nice, happy making.

Hermya321 · 21/05/2010 15:40

Floozie I'm glad it went well for you today!!

I got my quad tests results back today, I sat down and nervously opened the envelope to discover it was 1 in 12000. I think I'll take those odds . Happy days!!!

Hermya321 · 21/05/2010 16:00

Floozie I was just sat here reading back over my post about the test results, I'm sorry if it came off as a bit insensitive given that you've been through an amnio today. It wasn't meant that way at all. I hope everything goes ok with it all for you though.

OP posts:
DillyDora · 21/05/2010 16:39

O well done Hermya great odds!!!!

xx

floozietoozie · 21/05/2010 16:45

Hermya, not insensitive at all. Believe you me, I'm delighted for everyone not in my position, and at your age that's exactly the sort of odds you should be getting. it's another hurdle out of the way for you which is fab.

Dilly, DP has had about 55 books published as that's what he does. He mostly writes for children and teenagers but this one is a book for adults (I have to remember not to say adult novel, sends all the wrong messages out!). DS's favourite book for about the first two years was one of DP's picture books which is fantastic even if I do say so myself and we were over the moon yesterday to get the news that the publishers are going to be re-publishing it as a small paperback - it was first published 20 years ago, and he actually gave the now-famous illustrator Axel Scheffler (if you don't know who he is now, you will very shortly) his first break because he agreed for him to illustrate the book. As you can tell, I haven't been reading the novel this afternoon but arseing around relaxing on MN and others. My mum has taken DS and DP to Ikea to get the last bits of kitchen stuff as the workman is coming back to finish up tomorrow after a few week's break. I'm stealing someone else's bandwidth on the laptop in the garden right now. oops. My next-door neighbour is in the garden playing his guitar and it's very chilled.

Elsa I'd say with the bloods it's almost certainly that they've picked up you're a bit low in iron. That's far the most likely reason when you're pg to get a bloods recall. If it was anything urgent, they'd have called you in by phone. I got a recall I think during pg last time because my platelet levels were a bit low, but they always are, it's just the way I am. Anyway, give them a call if you're worried.

Xavielli, I nearly cried at your post. That's so lovely. I too often think about the belly button connection with my mum and then DS.

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 16:56

floozie I want to be your DP when I grow up!Er..no..hang on...I mean I want to be like him (though I am sure it would be lovely to be your DP )

Relaxing in the garden does sound lush, we don't have one but have lots of parks and woods nearby.

KSal · 21/05/2010 17:06

Xav that really was lovely! such a positive way to look at it... gave me a little glow.

i didn't get any marks with DD because she came a bit early... but your post almost makes me want some!

Scan went fine, baby all normal as far as they can tell and all curled up looking comfy in there in the classic foetal position

floozie so glad it was a positive experience for you.

Tyson86 · 21/05/2010 17:23

I had a letter for an appointment with a consultant come through yesterday which i was not expecting or wanting, about the mental rubbish with previous birth so phoned mw who said what birth did i want, i said home birth for def as dont want to go hospital at all. Then i was told the consultant might say no to it anyway. Im distraught about it all, its took me a long time to come to a decision and i feel im going to be forced to the labour ward which scares me. I give up and feel so trapped

Nymphadora · 21/05/2010 17:34

floozie anyway to let us know who your dh is?

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 21/05/2010 18:18

Floozie- so pleased you had lovely people looking after you: the nhs is so fab at times ( they were lovely when ds was in hospital). It looks like we should have a few days of gorgeous weather for you to rest in- enjoy

hermya, fab results what a relief!

Tyson- hopefully it's just a routine check that all is well.

FlooZie-wow! What a cool dh axel is a v good illustrator- good talent spot.

Just sticking my head whilst I wait for Ashes. recommending a 'cocktail'

Fresh mint, wedge of lime, loads of ice & appletiser. YUM!

Xavielli · 22/05/2010 10:24

Just got my results from the triple test and I've been given 1 in 970, which sounds great and I am so relieved.

Sending you guys with higher risks lots of positive thoughts as this was bad enough without a bad result.

floozietoozie · 22/05/2010 12:37

Yeah Xav that's great.

How was the Ashes grand finale, Nymph? I loved Life on Mars but I never really got into Ashes. Maybe because John Simm wasn't in it . He's one of those people who at first glance isn't that good looking, but whom I find incredibly attractive.

Well I'm in the garden again. I've been a bit more active today but then think I was overdoing it, so I'm just sitting still now. I had a bit of a blub earlier, triggered by something pretty minor with DS, but I swiftly realised it was reaction to yesterday and everything before.

I'm guessing by the lack of posting you are all actually having lives this lovely weekend, which is great. Enjoy whatever you're doing.

Nymphisseeingstars · 22/05/2010 13:31

I like john Simm too Ashes was great though and they ended it v well.

Been to baby sale this am but didn't get anything. Wavered over a carrier but that was it.mainly clothes and not a lot onthe way of neutral stuff

Elsa123 · 22/05/2010 14:33

Thanks Floozie- Its just annoying that the bloods were taken 7 weeks ago and I reckon if I hadn't asked, they wouldn't have said a word. If they tell me my iron is low I will say, well, it was low 7 weeks ago when you took the tests, perhaps you'd like to retest and btw when did my blood results actually come back?!

HermyaHasBeenQuattroed · 22/05/2010 15:23

Is anyones else enjoying the sun?

I'm loving it, sat just watching the world go by.
