Dillydora i am with you when you say - Wishing my bump looked like a bump not just too much cake! i got the two bellys going on, there are a few bumps around and they are bumps wish mine did, but we have time for this to happen i guess.

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 10:22

lilsteel we do indeed - sometimes doesn't pop out until well after 20 wks! Umm...while we're on the topic does anyone else have a bit of a hairy bear tum?! I was always a hairy creature (I'm actually a yeti) and lots of fur has grown on my tummy! (to keep the baby warm?!!) DH took a photo of me yesterday to show to his parents and truly, I am yeti girl!

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 10:35

i have always had the slighty hairy belly thing too, but i need to shave it more this weather. I used to get it waxed in the summer... how vain was i lol

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 10:52

I had mine lasered... I'm more vain than youououo!

Hermya321 · 21/05/2010 10:55

dilly I have my moments when I think 'i want my bump' but I figure I'm just going to enjoy fitting into my nice jeans for a bit longer.

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 11:05

dilly you win the vain game lol atleast without the PG bump people dont want to touch it ( major plus point)

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 11:08

LOL - I don't fit into my jeans anymore though! But I will dig out all last summer's clothes and see what I do fit into - there must be something!

sam12 · 21/05/2010 11:10

Right has just taken me ages to catch up so just going to do the questions as I can't remember what everyone said already! My memory is shot lately is that a pregnancy thing?

  1. Have just finished reading 'Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' and bought myself 'I remember You' Harriet Evans to start as I fancied something 'fluffy'. Keep going with the Handmaids Tale is an excellent book! Tho odd film.
  1. Facebook
  1. As we have a whole house to renovate the nursery will be the last room- esp as it will be in with us at first. Have lots of plans thought they keep changing at moment going between having really bright orange/green/ yellow colours or the gingerbread stuff or being sensible and waiting till we know the flavour and then deciding!
  1. Like a lot of you say, my bump is more like a lot of food at the mo but surprisingly- for me- feel quite proud of it. Won't be wearing bikini as by the time school summer hols arrive it will be too late for me to fly
  1. Great questions! Dunno but hoping these hormone changes won't last for ever!!

Hope all the scans go well and your amnio floozie.

Whoever is coming home to Yorkshire (told you my memory is shocking at the mo) have a great time- I'm a Yorkshire lass too!

And Dilly I have also noticed some tummy fuzz I feel so attractive!

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 11:21

We can fly up to 35 weeks if our pregnancies our uncomplicated. But after about 28 weeks we may need a letter from our dr to say we're not about to go into labour!

Glad to hear I'm not the only fuzzy tummy around!

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 11:23

ok needing some help.... heartburn issues i have bad heartburn, so bad it makes me sick but i have been given gaviscon ( my spelling is terrible) by Mw however as soon as i put the spoon in mouth i am sick for a good ten mins. I have been told milk however as i child i had a problem drinking milk and now i find it impossible to to just have some milk, i gag. infact i am so strange that fresh milk just bought from shop smell off to me. Is there anything eles i can do for this painful side effect of getting what i wanted ( aka a baby).

however the adverts for Gaviscon make me laugh as i have the burn and the fireman at home lol

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 11:25

Hmmm... I was the queen of heartburn (part of my IBS...I'm falling apart) for years so think Gaviscon is really good but if the liquid makes you feel rough how about the tablets. A friend said she got really into the chewy Gaviscon ones while pg....

Nymphadora · 21/05/2010 11:28

My tummy is fluffy , can only see close up though. The rest of me is less hairy , havent shaved my legs for weeks as I'm waiting for them to be long enough to wax.

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 11:28

oh thanks dilly will nip into the pharmacy once school oot, need to get DS hayfever meds anyway

RooBear · 21/05/2010 12:03

Morning/afternoon all,

1)what book are you currently reading and would you recommend it? I'm not and hate it but just can't find the time like I used to. I can recommend the ashes to ashes finale tonight though!

  1. facebook, Twitter or neither? Facebook, don't get twitter

  2. have you finished the nursery/planned it and if so do you have a theme? need to clear the spare room out, but its planned and its a vintage cream/green/brown theme with animals, (as we don't know the sex)

  3. How do you feel about your bump? Like people touching it? Show it off? Would you wear a bikini?! love my bump, love DH stroking it no-one else, maybe bikini top and sarong

5)Are these weak questions or am I being paranoid?! Paranoid

shieldbug · 21/05/2010 12:43

1)what book are you currently reading and would you recommend it? Currently reading the name of the wind, but can't remember who it is by. Good fantasy read though. Just finished a Robin Hobb Book - thoroughly recommend any of her books.

  1. facebook, Twitter or neither? neither- no time!!

  2. have you finished the nursery/planned it and if so do you have a theme? We are trying to work out whether we have the space for the tiny room to be a nursery of it sproglet will need to go into the guest room.

  3. How do you feel about your bump? Like people touching it? Show it off? Would you wear a bikini?! It's embarrasingly huge, so I always feel like I'm apologising when people make assumptions that I'm due July/August. BUT I like having it as it makes me obviously preggers and I find myself stroking it a lot (hope that's not too wierd). Nobody dares try to touch it!!

5)Are these weak questions or am I being paranoid?! I like them

shieldbug · 21/05/2010 12:44

for "of it" read "or if"!! preggers typos

Xavielli · 21/05/2010 12:54
  1. Divine by Blood - PC Cast, is an easy no thought read, a little fantasy, a little filth, complete no brainer so perfect for me at the moment.

2)Facebook, and evenmore, Goodreads.com - it's facebook for avid readers.

3)No nursery, don't actually have room for a baby at the moment...

4)Love my cakebump, don't mind people touching it at all if I'm honest. I wouldn't wear a bikini, but thats not due to stretchmarks (which are my war wounds/Marks of Honour) or not wanting to show off my bump - I look like I have a baby in each thigh and bum cheek too!

  1. 1-4 very good, this one is a bit of a cop out I'm afraid! We still love you though
Xavielli · 21/05/2010 12:56

Oo shieldbug I read the farseer/golden fool Robin Hobb books when pg with DD and loved them!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 21/05/2010 13:12

Lilsteel- try yoghurt or lassi rather than milk? Ginger and peppermint help if it's acidic as well. See if you can find sucralfate ( not sure which brand contains it) umm- that's me out of suggestions!

I have a hairy belly! But very fine fair hair so it's not too bad. You wait until you start developing linea nigra-a dark belly button and a dark line from boobs to pubes. The tankini's will suddenly appear much more appealing!

Good luck with scans today

piesey · 21/05/2010 13:14

ooh yes Roobear - I'll be watching Ashes to Ashes tongight too!

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 13:21

thanks for the suggestion i love yoghart so will give that i try

anyone got a wii fit and still using it when PG, mine is starting to get pissed that i am not losing weight lol

DillyDora · 21/05/2010 13:31

Ha ha lilsteel I love that you are freaking your WII out. We don't have one, I'm afraid but that makes it almost worth getting one!

lilsteel1 · 21/05/2010 13:33

dilly it even goes OUCH when you stand on him

Xavielli · 21/05/2010 13:37

Haha! Yea they all say ouch when you jump on. My friend has one and I was deperate for a Wii Fit just before I found out I was expecting. Hoping for one for my birthday to help me lose weight post pregnancy.

BackAgain · 21/05/2010 13:39

Wow I have managed to catch up on the last few days worth of posts - I am another one of those who has dropped off the radar for a bit. Went on holiday and then busy at work, but back now and will try to keep up. Won't be able to remember what everyone has been up to though so apologies. Hope it went OK today floozie and Abfab glad you got through the meeting OK and hang on in there!

Here are my friday five:

1)what book are you currently reading and would you recommend it? - am trying to read Wikinomics but typeface is small and I am just too tired at night. Wouldn't recommend unless you are really interested in social networking and collaboration (I am a bit of a geek!)

  1. facebook, Twitter or neither? Facebook and have a Twitter account but haven't used it - don't think I have anything that interesting to say

  2. have you finished the nursery/planned it and if so do you have a theme? DD is still is nursery so won't be doing anything until she has moved into her new room - which needs decorating and furnishing

  3. How do you feel about your bump? Like people touching it? Show it off? Would you wear a bikini?! Quite proud of my bump but only comfortable with family and close friends can have a feel. Not sure I would wear a bikini but probably due to the fact we don't holiday in places where bikinis are required

5)Are these weak questions or am I being paranoid?! When does pregnancy paranoia disappear and when do we feel normal again?!! what's normal??

All is well with me, coming up to 18 weeks and heard heartbeat at midwife check this week . Been to my first aquanatal session which was good, nice to be in cool water while it is so hot! Looking forward to 20 week scan in a couple of weeks and the expected good weather this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great weekend
