Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Scan is today...I am excited.
I had a dream last night that I was shopping for a baby, I couldn't decide if I wanted a boy or a girl so I picked up one of each for the trolley and a cream changing mat...lol..crazy!

Xavielli · 05/05/2010 07:49

Good luck meanbeansmum!! So exciting! Mine is still so far away

tiredfeet · 05/05/2010 10:01

Elsa123 · 05/05/2010 10:35

Good luck meanbeans. I've organised my scan date for 24 May, can't be bothered to find the list to add my name! Hope alls well x x

SoozleQ · 05/05/2010 10:38

Hi all.

Good to seem some pram discussion on here - my other half has been pestering me in relation to prams (can you believe it - surely it's supposed to be the female that gets all excited about prams, not the bloke) and I haven't a clue where to start. We went into Mothercare on the local retail park and I just stood and looked at them in despair! They all seem to weight a tonne so am quite liking the sound of the iCandy Cherry at the mo. Will have to venture to John Lewis when I can muster up the courage.

Good luck Meansbeansmum - I love crazy dreams.

I'm having the 16 week blood test for downs this afternoon - do you think they will do anything else at the appointment or will it purely be blood extraction? Would be fab to hear the hearbeat but I don't know if they will do that.

Tyson86 · 05/05/2010 10:48

Hi all, Good luck meanbeansmum

Iam currently being head hunted for a job where i used to work but dont believe i would be any better off as im on tax credits, would they even have me at nearly 18 weeks?

shieldbug · 05/05/2010 11:14

good luck meanbeansmum, I think you may be the first of the 20 weekers. Let us know how it went. Exciting!!!

Hermya321 · 05/05/2010 11:45

Soozle I'm having that tomorrow as well, I'm just going to ask to hear the heartbeat if they don't offer. I mean, at the end of the day all they have to do is get out a doppler.

Meanbeans Good luck today!!!

Sam poor you, having to get rid of your car I was craving runny eggs too! Now I have had 2 I am not interested anymore!

I had the Urban Detour last time too Xavielli it was a great pushchair!

Roobear great donations!! Thats really impressive!! We have a crib which is like a family heirloom that baby will sleep in from birth to about 6 months! My Grandma looks after it and she bought it for my Dad just before he was born, it has been used for ever baby born since 1950 and both of my dc slept in it as a baby (obviously it has been renovated and has had new mattresses over the years) but our baby will be the 11th baby to have it

piesy I think I will get one of those v shaped pillows I am getting increasingly uncomfortable.

I feel yucky today, runny nose, eyes itchy, sore throat tired headache cant figure out if it is a cold or hayfever (although I have taken my hayfever medication today!)AND dh is away on business so feeling very sorry for myself! I think I might go back to bed for an hour! Sorry for the whinge

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 05/05/2010 13:38

Hi everyone! Struggling with ill ds and poor Internet: just wanted to wish meanbeansmum good luck! I'll be back later hopefully to read the thread properly

tiredfeet · 05/05/2010 13:47

welcome MMooMar, hope your energy comes back soon!

I was thinking today that this is quite a funny stage of pregnancy because if I wear a coat/ chunky jumper or similar then noone would be able to tell that I'm pregnant, but on sunnier days when I've been wearing fewer layers it has been obvious to some people at least that I'm pregnant.

I also realised I need to get out more, when I saw a headline about supermarkets having a price war over the price of a 'pint' I assumed they meant milk and was most disappointed when I clicked the link and realised it was about beer

I was looking at prams on the internet with DH the other night, but struggling to find one he is happy with as he wants one that looks 'manly' apparently! He doesn't like the ones with tiny wheels but can't quite put his finger on what the other problems are with the prams. He's (hopefully) going to be involved in covering some of the childcare when I'm at work as he works semi-flexible hours, so I do want him to be happy with the pram, but I'm struggling to find anything that he likes. Does any ne have suggestions?!

Thirdtimer · 05/05/2010 13:55

Hi folks
Been for my 16wk bloods this morn and they had a listen for the heartbeat too - it was poundng away happily so I blubbed again - obviously!

Soozle - they should have a listen everytime so I reckon you'll get to hear it!

Been shopping this morn and found some black linen trousers in M&S that have a fair bit of elastic in the waist and are sooooo comfy. So now telling myself that they are smart enough for work - which they obviously are not but hey ho! Maybe I should get round to telling the boss one of these days... hmmmmm.

Anyway booked in for consultant (had section last time, don't want another type of conversation!) and 20wk scan June 10... will add next time the list's at the top of the pile!

Xavielli · 05/05/2010 14:00

Those of you going for 16 week bloods. It's still a regular midwives appointment and they should (as required) do a BP/piddle/palpate and try and listen for a heartbeat.

Katy86 · 05/05/2010 14:09

Hi everyone!

Welcome MMooMar! Tyson bet you cannot wait for your scan! how eciting! Are you going to tell us?

thirdtimer loves your post about not thinking you would ever refer to your DDs as sh*tbags lol. I always said that but lo and behold at nearly 4 years old my DD can be just that...

Ok now a 'little' moan...i gave in and showed my 'best' freind the scan pic of between my bubbas legs (the one i got from the gender scan) the woman who did the scan was ure its a boy but now friend has had a look at my pic and says it is a girl! I spent £80 on my scan and she has left me rather miffed about it. Im slightly confused as i think it looks just like a boy would any of you find taking a peek at my pics on my profile and just give me your opinions.

Sorry for the mamouth post

xxxx

RooBear · 05/05/2010 15:22

Welcome MMooMar how is everyone? I wouldn't worry katy I'd trust your professional! (but be aware nothing is 100%)

Hermya321 · 05/05/2010 15:27

Katy That defo looks like a boy to me!! I saw a scan of a girl and a girl looks like a circle with a line going through it on the scan pictures. Yours has sticky out bits, your friend is obviously not in the know. Here check this out and compare. I think you'll find there's a difference.

Katy86 · 05/05/2010 16:15

sam12 · 05/05/2010 16:15

Just been for 16 weeks mw appointment and heard the heartbeat. The baby was kicking away and although I could hear it couldn't feel a thing!

Katy86 · 05/05/2010 16:20

oh and ilovegregoryhouse your DSs are gorgeous..DS3s funny face is brilliant

Tyson86 · 05/05/2010 17:12

Thanks for the congrats on the job. Doubt ill take it i like being at home with ds too much

katy86 Ill def tell everyone but will be going away so wont be able to update till saturday night unless my phone lets me.
Keep seeing girls clothes i like and everyone keeps saying they think im expecting a girl, so most def a boy then

Nobody seems to believe me when i say i dont care what it is as long as the baby is healthy, i think they think im being polite.

sam must of been lovely to hear heartbeat and kicks!

Hope everyone's good today.

floozietoozie · 05/05/2010 17:31

Hi all

Welcome MMooMar. Can I dive straight in and ask why you are having an amnio - did you get high risk results or is it just in case? The reason I'm being so nosy straight off is I did get quite high risk after a nuchal scan and bloods (scan fine, bloods not) and have to decide very soon if I'm going to have an amnio, but I'm terrified of the miscarriage risk. Is it on the NHS or private? Just looking for other people's experiences really. Oh, and I'm with you on the exhausted front. I'm 39 and have one three-year-old with mobility difficulties = always tired even when not pg!

I saw the midwife today just for a routine check. I asked about doing a doppler but as I'm only 14+5 today she said it was unlikely she would be able to pick up the heartbeat and didn't want me to worry if she couldn't find it. She did offer to if I wanted but I decided even though I didn't think I would worry, I might not have thought that afterwards if she didn't find it, so decided to leave it. It's the last time I'll see her as she's going on mat leave in three weeks. Hope the next one is nice too, but I won't see her until at either 25 or 28 weeks.

Meansbeans hope your scan goes/went well.
