Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Morning all!!! I hope you're all well today in Pumpkin land.

Well it's election week and EVERYTHING on the news seems to be centered on that (obviously with good reason). Personally I'm non the wiser who I'm going to vote for, but I suppose I'll figure it out in the end.

On my ebay search, I've managed to find quite a few batches of maternity clothes in my size and have managed to win them. I'm feeling very barginous at the moment as a result and can't wait to get them all.

Oooh hermya what if we end up bidding on the same auction? What size are you? Let me know when you're bidding on something you really like so i steer clear.

DillyDora · 04/05/2010 09:17

Hello Lovelies from sunny but cold London. Good to read about all your research (& wonder why I haven't done any at all!!) We live in a 2nd floor flat and prams/buggies will have to live outside the front door and that's that as there's no other room!! And I will have arms like a pro from all the carrying

Went to buy maternity jeans y'day. Jaysus but it was bad! Anyway, to cut a long, sweaty tearful story short I got 2 pairs from Debenhams. Under the bump style as over the bump was just daft so hope they don't just fall down and £41 for the 2 pairs - happy days.

Anyone had bad pregnancy jelly brain yet? I have totally forgotten to write the exam paper for one of my modules... know when they exam is, am invigilating it but an email came chasing the paper last week and I suddenly thought 'O my god.....' How embarrassing. Am about to do it now... ahem!

Opps,long post. Apologies
xxx

Meanbeansmum · 04/05/2010 09:22

Oooooooooooooooo pram talk!!! Lovely chices! I do like the icandy apple, does anyone know why/how it's different to the cherry?

I'm a bit of a pram nightmare to be honest, I can never make a decision. I like modern looking prams but not prams that look like they should be on a rocket in space. It has to be able to face me so I can see my yummy baby, and I do like a pram that I can pop a carseat into for very short journeys etc. Oh and it has to be the RIGHT colour....lol...someone give me some pram advice lol!
I did see a nice cosatto on mc that I liked probably beause it was plum in colour lol...but that'll be no good if I have a boy will it lol!).
I'm a lost cause!

Thirdtimer, lol, me too, 3 babies and my stomach muscles have given up lol!

Big scan tomorrow for me...I'm scared, I always freak out a bit at scans, with worry about the baby. But I'm so excited to see my bubba! Wish me luck.xx

AbFabT · 04/05/2010 09:39

Dilly, had had my first episode of brain drain right at the very start - I couldn't remember what setting the oven should be on. I cook/bake loads, had the oven for a couple of years, but my mind was just blank. Had to consult the manual.
Been ok since though, but that was a weird moment!

Meansbeans, I like the old-fashioned style, like, PROPER old-fashioned. But there's no way I'd fit one in this flat. They just aren't practical unless you drive a bus and live in a mansion. Oh but they are so pretty. Just been pricing up the Stokke, and it's £££. But it's the only one that makes my head turn. Only seen them online and with a few mums strolling past, planning on going to a shop to see for myself tomorrow. Don't think they come in simple black though. Grrr. You just can't get everything you want. I think I am going to become an inventor and just design my own!

lilmissmummy · 04/05/2010 10:17

Dilly I couldnt work out what the time was yesterday afternoon on the 2 hour clock! Total mind block. Abfab It is so weird isnt it?! You just have no idea!!

meansbeans the main differences between the icandy apple and cherry is the cherry is lighter, they have different colour schemes, the cherry folds up smaller but the apple you can take the wheels off. Also the apple I thinkis slightly taller and converts into a jogger (3 wheeler) but the cherry is cheaper and easier to collapse (I thought they were both the same). Probably worth having a play around with prams/ pushchairs and see what you prefer the feel of!

Jealous of all your 20 week scans coming up this month! I have to wait until June

ILGH Love both of your names... we are still arguing over boys names but like Grace, Rose and Amelia for a girl. I think it is a boy though!

Sam oh no, what car have you got? (if you dont mind me asking)

thirdtimer no muttering from me re wine and dc! I definitely know the feeling!!

Did you know Sainsburys and Waitrose sell vaccinated chicken eggs which my midwife says if okay for pregnant women to eat runny!! I am sooooooo happy!

piesey · 04/05/2010 11:10

Morning everyone

Hada lovely weekend and sad to be back in work now.

Dilly yes I am having terrible problems remembering things at the moment - even people's names who I've worked with for years!

We went to John Lewis yesterday to buy a Big V pillow to help me with sleeping (ooo it's so lovely and comfy! DH is jealous of me hugging it in bed though). JL was mad - we were going to have a quick look at proms/pushchairs and we couldn't get near to them! So many peple there and kids screaming. The poor staff must have been shattered. I do like the iCandy range though - from what I saw at a distance!

lilmissmummy Wow! Going to check out those eggs - I am seriuosly missing poached eggs and runny yolks. Yum!

RooBear · 04/05/2010 12:27

Hello ladies, Not looking forward to this afternoon, booked in at the dentist for a number of proceedures as its free! hope its not too painful

AbFabT · 04/05/2010 13:35

What kind of procedures, Roo?

Xavielli · 04/05/2010 13:48

I really don't like the Stokke. It always looks like a glorified office chair to me.

And for the expense, I really cannot see for the life of me how you would use it for any subsequent children. If you only wanted the one it would be great I'm sure and the being out of the way of ciggy/smelly butts is really great.
But when number 2/3 comes along and you have a 2 year old who wants to take dolly/teddy/fairy and/or fireman outfit/football/every item of Peppa Pig merchandise known to man (or in the case of one rather strange little boy that once inhabited my uterus, the old corded phone that we just replaced... ) where the bloody hell are you going to put it all when they inevitable 'Mummy, can you carry this for me' makes its beautifully eloquent appearence?

Oops, that went a bit ranty there! I am sorry!

shieldbug · 04/05/2010 15:33

Yippee! Just been for my 16 weeks midwife appt and they found a lovely strong heartbeat right in the middle of my gignormous bump! I was sooo pleased I nearly cried, but managed to hold it all together. Calling dh to tell him was great too.
I've also got a consultant appt tomorrow (it never rains but it pours and all that) so fingers crossed, I will have a scan as well.

Xavielli · 04/05/2010 16:19

Awww lovely Shieldbug! still 2 weeks til mine ... feels like such a long wait!

RooBear · 04/05/2010 16:24

just got back abfab, wasn't too bad, they were filling my front two teeth in because they were a bit damaged from enamel wear and things. Was uncomfortable but didn't need anesetic

Nymphadora · 04/05/2010 17:16

Seen a pram on the school run. Xadventure seems to fit the bill but don't know much about them, anyone seen them?

AbFabT · 04/05/2010 17:53

Xav that's cool. Good for me to hear negative comments about the Stokke, I guess I haven't seen it properly to see how it'd cope with a second young child, although I do know it has a rider attachment that maybe an older toddler could stand on.

I'm still looking anyway!
Now seen this, the Grand Style Plus: strollersandprams.com/strollers/917/Bebecar-Grand-Style-Plus-/reviews.html - bigger picture here:
strollersandprams.com/strollers/917/1/stroller.jpg
though it looks huge and I don't think it would fit in the car.

Roo, hope your teeth are feeling lovely!

shieldbug, that's great! How exciting!

Hermya321 · 04/05/2010 18:21

ILGH I'm a size ten/twelve and long in the leg, so most of the stuff I'm looking at is tall jeans or just bundles of tops. What stuff are you looking at?

Dilly At the begining of my pregnancy I forgot how to drive (despite the fact that I'd just been on a three week driving skills course), I sat at a roundabout and wondered what the hell I was supposed to do at it for quite a while. Luckily it was early in the morning, so I didn't affect too many people.

Lilmissmummy I have to wait until June as well, not great is it.

Nymph I saw a pale blue Aygo on the way home today and wondered if it could have been your good self. I suspect it wasn't as I don't think you're a big bloke with a bald patch...........or are you????

OP posts:
tiredfeet · 04/05/2010 18:44

hello all, I'm having a grumpy day today, no idea why I think its just the pregnancy hormones, DH finds me a bit bewildering but is being very nice about it . Its silly as I had a lovely weekend, did some sailing and my parents were down so we went for a lovely meal out.

sheildbug thats lovely about the midwife appointment, its so amazing hearing the heartbeat again I know

I've just started researching prams, but think I want to go and actually look at some, its so hard to tell on the internet. I have a dodgy elbow so want one that is easy for me to fold down. I definitely want one with a nice 'carrycot' attachment, and I've seen a few makes where the carrycot can be used as a travel cot, which would really come in handy when we visit family over christmas etc. My parents were all set to buy me (2nd hand) one of those old fashioned silver cross prams, it took a lot of explaining for me to get across that lovely as they are, they would be totally impractical in modern shops and our pokey modern house. My parents have a huge house so they just don't understand about storage space!

Xavielli · 04/05/2010 18:49

AbFab - I looooove that pram! Just lovely. You may end up getting a stroller at around 10 months as the bulk of it will be too much. But that would be a real investment as would be brilliant for more babies(with enough room for older child clutter).

Nymph - Which model? I quite like this one

and this one is quite alot like the one I had for my first (Urban Detour which was FANTASTIC to push, and the Xadventure has the advantage of a carrycot rather than a car seat! Brilliant!

Nymphadora · 04/05/2010 20:04

Page crashed so potted version of my last post!

Xav Like all really. 3 wheeler is supposed to be smooth and 4 wheeler easy to manouver. Carry cot is included and approx £300 which is about what I thought a pram would be. Just need to find out if they are actually any good!

hermya Yaris not aygo & i'm not bald (or even at work today) but keep looking I only have that you are tall & skinny! Went to Charlies for lunch last week and it seems to be the place for pg women & prams for future refernce!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 04/05/2010 20:56

Hermya, am a shorty and looking at dresses and skirts in size 12 so we should be okay .

I went into Mamas and Papas today (this is a mistake as in Bahrain it's even more £££££££ and then some). BUT, I got a pair of black linen trousers for 4BD. That's 7 quid. Woo hoo! They need to be shortened but tailors here are really cheap. Am very pleased with myself.

Prams. I love them. But have to limit myself to new tailored fabric for the bugaboo. Maybe in the red. We've got a sand coloured base and cream fabric right now.

Xavielli, loved the rant.

sam12 · 04/05/2010 21:02

Lilmissmummy I have got a peugout 206 convertable- only had it a few months as it was a treat to myself when I got promoted!
Thanks for the tip about the eggs I have been desperate for a runny boiled egg! It was probably because I was told I couldn't have one that made them seem so appealing.

shieldbug thats great about your appointment. I have got mine tomorrow- a week late but never mind.

Has anybody else got really restless legs? It is driving me mad and kept me awake last night.

sam12 · 04/05/2010 21:05

Just realised I have spelt peugeot wrong- never mind I am only an english teacher

Hermya321 · 04/05/2010 21:10

Sam You've been craving runny eggs? I've been craving crisps, lots and lots of salty crisps. I've hidden the bag so I don't eat them all.

OP posts:
floozietoozie · 04/05/2010 22:38

Runny eggs mmmmmm. It's what I missed most last time, and this time too. Good tip that.

ILGH I had a red bugaboo for ds which I LOVED until the front wheel snapped off after two years. I really should get it fixed. It was great for the rear facing aspect and the cot part which I used as a travel cot for six months or more. Now I have a maclaran techno xlr??? The biggest one anyway. Prams are going to be my big dilemma. Where I will find a double one with a big enough seat for ds I do not know. I can barely push this one with him and his walker on top of it. Ok, slight exaggeration but not much.

By the way in the Friday five shag marry befriend question I have a simple answer - NO, NO, NO!

AbFabT · 04/05/2010 22:38

@ Xav for liking a pram choice of mine! Though it does look too big for our hallway, really. But I am hoping I'll be able to see a real-life version of it before committing to buying anything.

Impressed with your M&P bargains, ILGH. They are having a sale at the moment, but everything is still crazily priced (in my tight-arse frugal mind!).

I haven't had any cravings at all. I was looking forward to seeing what I might crave, but so far, nothing! (I don't ever eat eggs anyway, and certainly don't miss them.)
