Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

TV - Bones

Band - Radiohead/Placebo.

Book - Anything by David Eddings.

Film - Stardust.

Food - Usually I'd be with the curry fans, but at the moment Peperami and cheese is just the best!

jennimoo · 23/04/2010 17:13

I've had a hard time with a both / organisation and ended up with depression. I'm terrified it'll come back either during pregnancy or after, but so far my mental health is actually better than normal, and I feel pretty chilled out!

TV Show? I think House is my fave at the mo too!
Band? Really like the White Stripes, but actually like a very eclectic mix. Off to the Isle of Wight festival this year!
Book? Not sure, how about author? Robin Hobb
Film? I rather like Madagascar...
And, of course, Food? Really liking those little sweet chillis filled with cheese at the mo. Might have to go raid the fridge right now...

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 17:16

They look it, ILGH!

Oh thank you, very kind. I have documented everything, I have a big yellow folder!
It's been useful already, reminding myself how long it's been going on and all the little things that all add up.
So far, HR/Personnel are being nice to me.

LOL @ him being a sociopath! It's a good way to see it, it's all slotting into place!

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 17:19

Dilly, glad your colleague was so nice about things!

Hermya321 · 23/04/2010 17:46

Gosh Abfab, well done for you and your big yellow folder. Bad managers can make or break a place can't they.

TV Show - Greys Anatomy, Dr Who, The Mighty Boosh, Ashes to Ashes and Glee.
Band - Florence and the Machine.
Book - The Time Travellers Wife.
Film - The Borne Identity.
Food - Pesto Pasta.

BTW am I the only nutbar person who has named their bump? Would be really interested to see how others refer to their beans and whether I am completely shot to bits a bit odd.

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 18:29

Xav, what have you named your bump?

We have various names, according to the size of the baby that week, we sometimes use the real names we have chosen as trial runs to make absolutely sure we like them: boy's name one day, girl's the next, but the main name if we aren't doing that has been Megatron, which we sometimes change to Vegatron as a play on the fact that we are vegan. DH also came up with Optimus Trimester when I was in my first 13 weeks! Can you see a theme here! Bless him!

Xavielli · 23/04/2010 18:33

haha! Excellent.

DS - Georgie Peanut

DD - Petey Loviekins

This one is Tommy Tickle Bean

I was Baby Lumpkin. Orville, Alganon and Ermintrude are my siblings. So maybe I come from a family of oddballs! (Or this may be slight rebellion on the part of my parents who gave us all biblical names)

Xavielli · 23/04/2010 18:36

I'm glad I've picked atleast one name for this baby because I'm finding it very hard to choose a name that will not sound so very different to my DS and DD. Why did I give them uncommon names?!?! And I have to take into account DP's two DDs who have increasingly popular names.

Nymphadora · 23/04/2010 18:57

BionicEar · 23/04/2010 19:14

Hello!

Sorry been quiet all week - have been very tired so not logging on much!

Am tired now and counting down the time to bedtime as LO is playing with dolls at mo!

Saw one of my 2 MWs today where we went through the green pg booklet. She also took bloods and wee sample. One of my cats was very curious and kept trying to jump up and nosy close as she was taking blood!

Was told I won't get to see MWs again until after the 20weeks scan, although I can pop into clinic if I have any issues.

She has however arranged for me to see consultant in a couple of weeks, due to wobbly moment towards end of pg with my LO where I had a thrombis (can't spell!) scare. So suppose I can't complain that they aren't being on the ball as didn't think they would take that into account.

Anyway hope you are all doing ok and I'll catch up with you soon!

NinthWave · 23/04/2010 19:28

Nymphadora we had rhubarb crumble for tea this evening, I've got a rhubarb plant in the garden and it's just coming into season. Yum!

Friday Five (keep missing these!):

TV Show? The Mighty Boosh and Doctor Who

Band? Kate Bush

Book? Peter Pan by J M Barrie, or anything by Kevin Crossley-Holland

Film? Velvet Goldmine or Lord Of The Rings trilogy (pref all back-to-back but that hasn't happened since early 2007!)

Food? ATM it's smoked salmon. DS and I polished off half a packetfor lunch this morning, with cream cheese on crusy bread . And sorbet.

Xavielli · 23/04/2010 19:37

Oooo Velvet Goldmine! Brian Molko + Naked Ewan McGregor = Good choice!

Nymphadora · 23/04/2010 19:49

ninth been eating mine straight from the garden ( well after peeling it!) it's really doing well this year after a v bad year being eaten by slugs

NinthWave · 23/04/2010 20:19
floozietoozie · 23/04/2010 21:38

Tv show - at the moment it's the original Wallander (as I've been having difficulty getting ds to sleep, I don't see much tv!).

Band - REM

book - Christ that is a very hard one. Pride and prejudice an all-time fav, books by Nadime Gordimer and Anne Tyler, Pat Barker, particularly Regeneration triliogy. And from my childhood Anne of Green Gables series, which I still re-read to this day.

Film - big fan of Election, sideways, About Schmidt director whose name is currently eluding me (preg/mother brain in action again). Love Almodovar stuff, generally like foreign films, Amelie was magic and was my chosen girls name last time (predated the film though) but I know a few now so wouldn't use it.

Food - avocado, curry, potatoes! (Irish ancestry at work no doubt). Fruit.

As you can see, I'm not very good at just choosing one thing, which is probably why I'm sometimes so indecisive. Have had the same glasses for over a decade because every time I go to look I can't decide. How come I managed to pick a kitchen in a week or less and can't manage a pair of specs??

floozietoozie · 23/04/2010 21:43

Should point out the glasses are only a backup as I wear lenses most of the day. I'm not that much of an image dinosaur .

tiredfeet · 23/04/2010 22:05

Hi all I've been quiet for a few days, been interviewing candidates for a job it was three days of interviews, tasks and then second interviews. I think it was as exhausting for me and the other interviewers as it was for the candidates!

AbFab I'm so sorry you're having a stressful time at work, good plan to be signed off for two weeks I bet you feel so much better by the end. I had a horrendous time in my previous job because of an awful team leader, I discovered after I decided to leave that the three previous people in my position had left for the same reason. Its such a horrible thing to go too but I'm glad you're getting some support from your HR, mine didn't really want to know which made it worse (even though everyone clearly knew about my team leader's reputation). I really hope things improve for you.

I've been thinking about when to start maternity leave, still a bit undecided but I may start as early as late August. DH will still be very busy with work around then so won't be able to give me much support until mid September, and our whole summer is very busy, so I'm thinking it might be nice to have some relaxing time before the baby arrives. The only thing worrying me is whether I might feel a bit isolated, as I love the social side of being at work.

hope you all have lovely weekends

Tyson86 · 23/04/2010 22:25

TV Show? Bones, House and Russell Howard
Band? The Rasmus
Book? Harry Potter's
Film? Harry Potter's
Food? White fish at the moment.

Really enjoyed today apart from ds tantruming all day, he still has a cold though so he is let off
People are noticing my bump now which is weird, i was told today that my baby's popping out by my neighbour

AbFabT · 23/04/2010 22:36

Thanks, tiredfeet. Wow, you are yet another one with a bad experience!
I am already feeling MUCH better for not being there. Though I am pretty certain at the end of the two weeks, the situation will be the same, and as such, I will be as stressed there as ever. So hoping I get signed off for the next few months, really. Quite frankly, I think the manager would be happy with this too! Will reflect badly on him though.

ANYWAY! Better things to think about now!

What's everyone doing for their weekends?
Us, not a lot! Taking it easy.

Hermya321 · 23/04/2010 23:04

Tiredfeet I'm going to go earlier and spend the majority of it watching crappy TV and attempting to learn how to knit.

I'm not working at the moment. The plan was to get DD to full time school in Sept and then get my career back on track.
(well no, the plan was to start an access course last sept, which I did, then go to uni. However in december my childcare folded so was only able to go in for half the time. College said I could do part time, course leader said I couldn't so that was the end of that for now! GRRRRR!)
But then of course that wiley little swimmer decided to use my coil as a grappling hook to work his way in and the blinking thing fell out. So here we are, just when I thought I was done, I start all over!

On the upside, I do get 2 month of 'leave' from both kids during the day starting in september I suppose. I'm going to be so bored without Nellie!

BackAgain · 24/04/2010 09:22

Haven't managed to catch up with all the posts after a couple of days focusing on my revision but interested to see how many people have had a bad time at work. I had a similar situation a few years ago, felt I was treated very badly by my manager (took credit for my work, took her stress out on me etc) but luckily I managed to move roles and we have a much better (distant) relationship now.

I plan to leave work as early as I can, probably early August as have a long commute and expect to be made redundant soon so don't see the point of continuing work when I can be out in the garden with DD earning the same amount of money for a couple of months while on notice.

My exam went well yesterday and I am so relieved it is all over for a few months - good luck to those who are still revising and writing assignments. I even managed a shopping trip yesterday but was quite disappointed re: maternity clothes. I am on the petite size so I struggle to get maternity trousers in the right length. Any ideas gratefully received!

Looking forward to packing away my books today and spending some time with DH and DD this weekend as they have been a bit neglected as of late.

Hope everyone has a good weekend - enjoy the sunshine!

Hermya321 · 24/04/2010 09:44

Backagain Well done on your exam! Regarding your maternity jeans, Mamas and Papas seem to do a short size. There is Funmum.com and yummy mummy maternity online just seeing from a quick google. Maybe Gap could help you out as well.
