ski man muck

I feel a trip to Boots in my lunch time......

rollerbaby · 20/04/2010 12:30

Congrats Witty on the scan - I know exactly how you must be feeling. Was the best thing my eyes have ever seen.

The scan actually dated me as a couple of days earlier than I had thought so in response to Carrots post to Laurie on OPKs it does seem that I might have ovd a few days earlier than I thought but luckily had been terrorising Mr Moo in advance...

So last night. 4am. Went to loo. Massive wee and back to bed. Felt a persistent, sort of moving pressure in my uterus. Felt a bit funny and suddenly realised baby must be jumping about! Cue wake entire household (husband/dog) in excitement. Mr Moo not that excited at 4am, bastard. I'm not going mad am I, especially as around 12 week mark?

Still living in BRA HELL. Went to John Lewis after now buying FOUR bras in the fucking wrong size. Helpful lady promised to propoerly measure and sort me out. Apparently in soft bras I am somewhere between 38F-G. WTF???!!! Lovely Myla honeymoon underwear consigned to the past... Anyway still ended up walking empty handed as the bloody assistant let someone walk off with the bra I wanted to buy. I literally could have wept.

On the plus side bought shit loads of lovely clothes which I will no doubt grow out of in about a month.

Also waking up sort of semiorgasmic. Fucking brilliant. I wonder if this will be a long lasting side effect post birth? People do say it can be apparently. That said Mr Moo and I are going through massive drought mainly cos I am knackered the whole time. Not much likely to improve there then. Feel guilty..

reginaMonologue · 20/04/2010 12:42

moo I think it'd be great if you were feeling the baby at 12 weeks - when did everyone else get their first flutters? I can't possibly imagine what that feels like, though most ppl I've asked have said "butterflies" and at around 4 months... meh. Ages to wait for me!

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 13:13

I thought I was the only person in the world having "those" dreams...

It's not unknown for me non-preg - tends to be after we've not done it for a while - but has been more lately. Def been more RL action too, after about 3 months off. To start with we were both so relieved not to have to do it every day that we wanted a break! Then I was feeling yuck n stuff, but after that passed it's slowly built back up again (nice).

moo Could be, could be! I thought I felt mine at 10 weeks but then went for a scan, saw him wriggling but didn't feel it and decided it wasn't after him all. Wasn't long after then, though. TBH, though, it sounds more like uterine stretches than the baybee because s/he'll be too little to be stretching the side of your ute just yet. But who knows - don't let me piss on your uterus, as it were .

laurie this is what I used; turns out it's not Boots' own. I didn't necessarily have a shortage of FFJ, but I figured every little helps, non?

iggypiggy · 20/04/2010 13:31

moo are you anywhere near any of these shops: Pretty Pregnant

Cos I went in there and they had hot milk bra's there at 70% off - so I got three for the normal price of one... I really like them - and I tried on loads of diff sizes until I found ones that fitted. Admitedly they are not actually maternity bras, but nursing ones - but is no difference and i guess I will then not need to buy new ones after July...

ski of course I am a naice girl

OkieCokie · 20/04/2010 13:31

Laurie if you are still lurking a thumbs up for OPKs from me (sorry lasses, I know you all hate 'em). I did invest in CBFM in the end though - I was desperate after failing for 18 months and bingo, first month I used CFFM it worked. Previously I had been using ovulation piss sticks (the ones that give smiley faces) and the CBFM stated I was ovulating 2 days out from the time indicated on the piss on a stick variety.

So second time round used CBFM again and 3rd month for us - with a hell of a lot of SWI around peak days. I could never get to grips with temping and FFJ sporting and I like sticks to piss on.

Rots I am intrigued to know where up north you are from. Sounds like you are near my original roots if you know Redcar Yellowcar. I am a monkey hanger deep down (rather large clue there)

SkaterGrrrrl · 20/04/2010 13:33

Hey all

A mate of mine had her baby a month early, which has given me a kick up the butt.

I bought my cot last night (thank you John Lewis online) and have compiled my shopping list of newborn essentials. 20 week scan on Sat (slightly late as I?ve been away) and tour of the Portland on Sunday!

NCT: have joined, classes only start end of June but getting tons of stuff, catalogues, emails, invitations to local nearly new sales etc.

Sex-drive: alive and kicking. Gradually getting the hang of the sideways shag.

Honeymoo, they are expensive but my HotMilk bra has been my best pregnancy purchase. Runners up: Rooibos teabags (as hydrating as water!) and v-shaped pillow.

iggypiggy · 20/04/2010 13:43

Oh yes - rots I meant to say - am back to loving my dream genii pillow I slept without it for 2 nights and then used it again and it was amazing again - so is back in favour with me...

laurielou · 20/04/2010 14:01

okie yep still spying lurking

I've been using piss-sticks with just a boring line, not even a smiley face. Maybe if I don't win this month I'll invest in CBFM, along with rots non-pre-seed-pre-seed (fanks for link). Ah, feel so much better having spoken to you all. And fanks to you I have a plan B for next month. Was kind of thinking I'd done it all pre IUI.

Loving the talk of flutters & sexy dreams...

Ponymum · 20/04/2010 14:18

polyfillapoo Wahey!! And sorry, but menkulness does not recede - it gets much worser. Wait for the completely unfounded insane worry and guilt to kick in...

lorryintheloo I hate POK sticks!! Absolute misleading rubbish. Temps much more reliable. Invest in a thermometer instead. Good effort with the shagging though.

Sex: The spirit is very willing but the body is incapable. Everything is painful and awkward. Really wish I could though. Dreams are OK but they just make me want it for real.

Thinking about being ready for the big day - a friend told me this morning she had her son at 34 weeks. I really have got to get myself organised.

Brain is mush. I was telling MrP last night 'There's a whole lot of stuff in my washing basket that I want you to take a look at.' He quite rightly asked me if I was menkul, or could explain what the hell I was talking about. I kept repeating, you know, my washing basket, on that website. PMSL when I realised that my mouth was saying washing basket while my brain was saying shopping basket. He consoled me by telling me it wasn't totally menkul, as it did have some clothes in it.

OkieCokie · 20/04/2010 14:22

No sex here at the moment. Paranoid me won't let him near me until after 12 week mark. However I did "do it" at 40+2 last time to try and get things moving so that was an achivement, not that it worked I hasten to add.

laurielou · 20/04/2010 14:43

pony I tried temping for a few months but all it indicated was that I'm a crap sleeper! Temps were up & down like a whore's drawers.

But again, may try it from next month.....

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 15:24

laurie temping alone can be confusing. Stick yer fingers up your buff. Much more info there.

laurielou · 20/04/2010 15:42

fanks for the advice rots. Will have a rummage.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 15:49

Did I mention I lost my cervix? My MW did laff when I told her .

reginaMonologue · 20/04/2010 16:05

laurie I'm with rots on this one, you need to check ur juices and do your temps to get a good idea of fruity time potential goodness. Don't forget your temp will only shift up a gear once you've ovulated, you need to be be a sperm bank before that happens with the gloppy gloop.

rots hehe... fingulating can be odd... when I told my mates what I was up to they kinda went "urghhh..." maybe it was TMI for them

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 16:14

Teehee reg. Not sure I'd discuss that with many people IRL!!!

CurlyCasper · 20/04/2010 16:20

I hate estate agent

Move still on, but they are confusing things unnecessarily and I do not need extra stress!

However, I should be settled in now home in less than three weeks

FFJ and BBT were the way forward for me....

Ponymum · 20/04/2010 17:36

curls I am for you. Not fair to mess you around. Have you exchanged yet? Hope it smoothes out soon.

laurie I agree with curly on the FFJ / BBT combination, though my FFJ kept going over a very long time period so had to shag shag shag for bloody ages. For temperature I found I had to keep the thermometer by my bed, and if I woke up early wanting to go to the loo I made sure I took the temp first, then went back to bed. Seemed more consistent if taken after the bulk of a night's sleep, rather than worrying about taking it precisely at proper get up time each day. I still had some weird outliers but I just ignored them when plotting.

I could never get with the finger job cervix thingy. To this day I'm still not sure that I ever actually found my cervix. But then, every time I have a smear test they poke around for ages, run off to fetch some ancient old extra long speculum, and contort themselves in weird angles before they can get it. Thank god the swimmers managed to find it.

CUNextTuesday · 20/04/2010 17:52

I bought some nappies yesterday, just in case, and I have had a stash of maternity pads and disposable knickers for weeks now . Not packed any bags yet, but apparently any time from 31 weeks (i.e. next week) I need to be getting my shit in a sock.

At the risk of inflaming rots I bought disposables to start off with, just for the first couple of weeks. I'm not confident about being able to handle the washable ones until I find out what the shiz is - seems like too much to cope with all at once with being a novice and all. I reckon it will be all I can do to hold the kid the right way up.

But once I'm sorted I'll get my stash of washables I promise

skihorse · 20/04/2010 18:09

cunty I'm with you actually... I'll have enough to be getting on with (e.g., not killing the baybee) for the first few weeks without worrying about washables - I'm also planning disposables for the beginning.

I was reading an article in the paper today about premature babies and how there's been a 200% increase in babies from 2lbs surviving. That's a good handful of us. Any of us could be in next.

curly What's the delay with the estate agent?

okie What's your logic for that?

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 20/04/2010 18:35

laurie - another note on BBT if you are still there. Mine made a lot more sense once I started compensating for earlier/later waking times. If you wake early, you need to add 0.05 degrees for every half hour of sleep you miss. And likewise, you take off 0.05 degrees for every half hour you sleep beyond your "standard" BBT time. It means you stress less about when to take temp, but do get consistent results - at least I did!

Fert Friend recommends against temperature adjusting though...

Thanks for the shared anger. Today my solicitor said one thing then estate agent said another and appeared to be hanging on for something I asked about weeks ago which we don't need to hang on for. Basically the one we have been dealing with (for the sale) is a mardy cow who just confused things today. She's generally quite snappy on the phone and already pissed me off.

Anyhoo, confusion was cleared up thanks to phone calls from me and SFF. Nonetheless, even if we exchange this week (as solicitor expects) I won't be able to sign for the new place until May 4th because of lack of appointments with letting agent. She's lovely though, and it's not her fault she's busy. I just wanted the keys right after exchange to allow the best part of two weeks for the move (we are going away for the bank holiday, so that cuts out a few days). Now we have from the 4th to the 10th, but that is a crazy week at work for me, which includes weekend and evening jobs. There's not even any point in pushing completion back because the following week I am out every night thanks to work.

I must be crazy trying to juggle it all!

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 19:54

FFS cas

iggs maybe I should try mine again as backache still around - maybe it wasn't the pillow.

nappies I used sposies for about 5-6 weeks with LC until I pulled myself together and got on with it. This time I'm not buying any but then I am quite confident in using cloth properly etc, but if I find there's too much washing in the first weeks I'm going to sleep, not wash, and use Moltex and compost them. No wrath here.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 20/04/2010 19:56

Reading more of Dirk Gently, I mean Grantly Dick-Read. Decided to highly recommend to all, although it's a real toughie to get through. Think trying to study Moliere when you're actually learning Spanish.

Ponymum · 20/04/2010 20:05

OMG... nappies!
