Diege · 08/04/2010 13:25

Hi TINKS - yes, I'll be getting dds shorts and Ts - they seem to be immune to the cold and will happily run around in shorts even on the coolest of summer days Have already bought them a pair each of the towelling Boden ones
Just had a 'mini-splurge' on Bombay Duck picture frames
Oh and NAT meant to say the French Connection buys were 2 smock-type tops - a lot nicer than they sound!

tinkhastwoeasterbunnies · 08/04/2010 15:56

think i will prob leave shorts.

NatalieJane · 08/04/2010 16:00

Apologies, it was GYo I was talking to earlier not Gruff

Tink - one word - OCADO! No trollies, no fights, no "I want..../Can I have...." t'is bliss!

MMM, any improvments?

Diege, FC have got some lovely things in this season, and I am really impressed with Oasis again, they seem to be getting better and better each season, I am waiting till I've finished losing the weight (another stone or so to go) before splurging on decent clothes but might have to have a little look in there on Saturday.

Am putting house to the back of my mind, we can't do anything anyway until we hear either way, so no point in thinking what if...? We'll just have to take it as it comes (easy to say....!)

I am going through the stockists lists in the magazines trying to get my hands on more catalogues and samples, the last mood board I need to do is to show future trends, pretty tricky to get pictures/samples of something that isn't there yet! Know what I am aiming for but bar the M&S catalogue (strangely, pretty much on the button for 2010!) I'm getting nowhere. Problem is, the more influential websites don't have catalogues, and their pictures are protected so you can't download them and print them off.

There is a new chinese takeaway opened up in the village, they do prawn toast (haven't had any since we went to mum's, other village chinese doesn't do it) so am going to get DH to pick some up

Have a good evening everyone x

maxxymoosmummy · 08/04/2010 16:06

hi everyone, well DS seems alot perkier after a long sleep, more meds nd a cup of water hope he stays on the up
still clingy and still not himself at all, but much better than this morning

GiraffeYoga · 09/04/2010 07:59

Morning all ? it?s FRIDAY!!! Yay!

MMM- how is DS this morning?

Tink- not sure about shorts. Suppose it depends on whether DD is walking or not. Not sure her knees would take crawling on bare skin?. ???

Nat- No probs with Gruff mix up. I knew what you meant . How was the Chinese? Sounds yummy

Diege- thanks for info on the screening ? really interesting. I guess I?d have to see what DH wanted. Suspect he?d want the tests?. I am really not sure.

Regarding the work thing- I am project based, so I have to move from client to client anyway. We usually expect to get 2 wks notice, not two days so moving isn?t the issue (except I like it here!) but he needs speaking to about his communication! However, I?ve got two weeks work on another part of the project in the same location so I have some breathing space to find myself a new role.

Waves to everyone else

GruffaloSoldier · 09/04/2010 08:45

Hi all!

Sorry I havent been on for a couple of days! Things have been a bit busy.

I tested on Wed, BFN, but no surprise there really. Am not sure what was going on, but its over now and I am looking forward to next cycle

I went to see my sister and new baby yesterday. He is TINY! and soooo cute. I had a couple of holds. I was the first other family member to hold him as no one else seen him yet - so I felt very honoured!I also went on his first outing

Hope everyone is ok. GY, sorry to hear about project. Hope the new one goes ok.

Diege - good luck with the mw research!

Tink- I have some shorts for GC's birthday off my sister. I would get some soon as find the freak hot weather tends to be April/May - odd days when you wish you had shorts. It doesnt haveto be that hot to warrant shorts I think!Im hoping we get some hot days in summer too!

MMM - glad that DS is feeling better!

We are off to Derbyshire for the weekend with friends so wont be on for a couple of days. Got a christening on Sunday aswell!

Hope everyone has good weekends!

Playingatmotherhood · 09/04/2010 09:14

Morning all,

What another lovely day.

Think I will probably be MIA today and this weekend.

Got MIL coming down in just over an hour and we'll be outside making the most of the weather for the rest of the day I think. Also away over the weekend at E's 2nd cousins birthday party (my cousins kid) so that will be nice but probably a boozy affair as always. Don't know whats going on this past week but I seem to have been socialising (therefore drinking too much) virtually every night. Slightly crazy, had a month of doing nothing really and then in the past week I've had 4 "dinner partys" (not as formal as that sounds), 3 of which I have oooked and now this weekend away! Really beginning to feel it now though.

Gruff - glad you're feeling better. He's to next cycle. I'm certainly with you on that . Really happy to hear you got your first cuddle.

I'll probably get E shorts if he's walking this summer (he's already got 2 or 3 pairs waiting). He get pretty hot too.

Oh dear, just seen the time! MIL be here in an hour so I really need to get dressed!! Sorry for ignoring everyone else

tinkhastwoeasterbunnies · 09/04/2010 11:16

tinkhastwoeasterbunnies · 09/04/2010 11:16

re shorts - have spare for dd2 that dd1 had as a toddler think i will leave getting dd1 any

Diege · 09/04/2010 11:27

Hello! Beautiful day here too. All 4 off today, so playing in garden this morning, then going up to friends this afternoon.
TINKS, re: shorts for babies, the ones I've got for ds are the v.long ones - had forgotten about crawling etc but hopefully his knees won't get too scuffed . Older dds live in theirs in the summer.
PLAYING/GRUFF, sounds like you both have very busy weekends planned - your social life sounds a whirl PLAYING, all that drinking . I had one glass of champage mixed with orange juice on wed and had a hangover yesterday morning Good luck both of you with next month's cycles! I have decided (against dh's 'go for it' attitude) that we won't 'actively' ttc this month, but sort of not prevent it...(in other words, won't use contraception but not plan fertile times etc... So a gentle dipping of the toe in the ttc-waters so to speak
NAT, your next assignment sounds challenging to say the least..I suppose you could look back at how trends have developed to see if there's any clues to future ones - though if it was that easy you'd be a millionaire ...v. interesting though!
MMM really glad ds seems brighter
Am awaiting delivery of a digital dictaphone this morning for next week's interviews. I'm really trying to get excited but failing...
Hope everyone's enjoying the lovely weather!

NatalieJane · 09/04/2010 13:32

Hello

It's still cold here, sunny, but cold.

Gruff, enjoy your weekend away, so glad you got to have a cuddle

Playing, yes you do sound very busy, don't know if I should be -ing at you or !

Diege, Why aren't you excited? I'd be dying to get my hands on them!

MMM, glad DS has perked up

Tink, re. the shorts, think I might just get the big ones a couple of pairs each and DS3 some short dungarees to start with (love love love babies in short dungarees! Chubby legs sticking out underneath!)

The buggy has arrived, think I'm impressed, will tell more later when we've given it the pavement road test Am loving the colour!

Great start to morning (for those that haven't seen my squeaking on FB!) came round from being half awake half asleep to DS2 in my bedroom playing with my curtains, so while I slurr out "George stop playing with the curtains" my ears prick up to the sound of a buzz, listen for a second, nothing, DS2 shouts "Mum, a bee" I think "shitfuckbollockssoddingbeeinmyroomshitfuckbollocks" run into the en suite, grab fly spray (always on top of cabinet in there just for moments like this!) curtains still shut, can hear almighty buzzing, go to pull the curtain back and realise I've no clothes on, grab dressing gown, yank the curtain and run, the bastarding thing in on the window, only not cute bumbling bumble bee, it's a great big fat wasp, (I will add at this point I am absolutely petrified of flying things that buzz, but none more so than wasps) so I spray and spray and spray and spray and spray, window is white and dripping with fly spray and it's still buzzing though unable to fly, finally it gives up and the horrible buzzing stops! Wasn't the best morning in the world!

But, and this bit is good, came down and did one more report for my course, scanned everything in and printed everything out, and I now have the finished 2 assignments, 2 hard copies (one for the NDA and one for me) a copy of everything in the computer, and all of the orignals, all sorted and the NDA's ready to post! I'm finished - for now - 1/6th of the way through!

Diege, I know where ID is likely to go next, flowery print, the bigger and bolder the better, lots of different ones, all very busy colourful, but it was the pictures I was struggling with, M&S catalogue very useful, and lots of summery scenes with flowers all over did the job. DH decided that because it was only what I thought would be the next big thing, I couldn't get it wrong, he said "Just pick a theme and say you think it will be the next big thing, how can they mark you down?" and then went on to say he'd use a spaceage theme with lots of quotes along the lines of "due to the technological advancements in recent years, we'll all be living in underground bunkers made of metal in the near future" Bless him, he's trying! Not worked out yet whether he is just trying in general or trying to get me kicked off the course, but he's deffo trying!

tinkhastwoeasterbunnies · 09/04/2010 15:20

have good weekends ladies wondt be on till sun

essenceofSES · 09/04/2010 21:18

Sorry for going AWOL. It's been a busy 10 days with lots of ups and downs.

Diege - yay for not not ttc

Gruff - sounds like quite a rollercoaster over the last week. Hope things settle down for you and fingers crossed for this month.
Great news about your DN being home and having a cuddle.

Giraffe - yay for SG not crying when being left at nursery. I feel your pain - O has been crying most mornings if he notices me walking away. It's heartbreaking but I know within a few minutes he's fine.
Must be difficult to keep moving projects & clients

MMM - poor DS. Glad he's feeling a bit better and hope he's back to his usual self v soon.

Nat - I hate flying insects too. Especially buzzy ones, flappy ones or ones with long legs (most of them then!)
Yay for being 1/6 of the way though course!
What new buggy have you got? What's the colour?

tink - enjoy zoo!

Playing - sounds like a lovely boozy wkend. Enjoy!

Rugby - hope you continue to get better nights from C

Diege · 10/04/2010 09:55

Morning! A very bad night with ds and his teeth, but have friends coming over for 'afternoon tea' later on, so have been up and hoovering round since 7. Ds now asleep and dds watching video.Dh gone to Morrisons to get the smoked salmon - we are trying very hard at posh. Ocado van due any minute (still trying)
Great to hear from you SES - had been going to issue a wagon toot if you had been awol much longer Hey coming up to ttc time for you - I have to say the first thing I thought when your dh had his 'injury' was if it would, shall we say, 'impede' his performance in the ttc-ing stakes
NAT, again on topics of dh's, I misread your sentence about space and future trends as belonging to one of your ds's Men and space eh .I suppose what your tutors will be looking for (just guessing - I set mine a similar assignment looking at future trends in social welfare ) is not the idea itself, but the rationale for your ideas (so the process by which you were able to come up with and justify your choices) - all of which you probably know anyway .
So, onto gory details, had day 8 gof last night, very safe, so next week with be make or break time...spurred on a little by friend we saw yesterday who is trying for no.5...we both agreed in a sort of self-justifying way, with slightly mad expressions, that the more you had the easier it got....
Going to put ds in his shortie dungarees today - agree Nat, little chibbu legs are adorable (though not mine) I can't believe the 18-24 mths fit him perfectly at 9 mths - he is a monster baby (26 pounds now) Very odd as dd3 (age 4.5) has on a pair of 18-24 mth leggings today that are still a little big at the waist
Hope everyone's enjoying the sun - bye for now!

Diege · 10/04/2010 09:56

Oh meant to add SES that I hope the 'downs' you mention weren't too bad? Are things ok?

NatalieJane · 10/04/2010 10:06

Morning

Hi Ses, sound's like you've been busy, hope it wasn't too many downs.

Diege, that's what I figured, the report I had to do had to explain the thought process, and it followed straight on from current trends (I used the Nautical theme that's banging around) think I got my point across as being that basically due to the economic climate people are looking to brighten up their homes with colour and pattern, everyone is fed up with having little money, no sun etc. even went on to say that the pinks, purples and blues that are going to be huge this summer (ha, as if I know!) will turn to reds and oranges as we get into autumn and winter! I could be right and look wonderful, or I could be very wrong and look a right dippy bint!

Right, think we are off to the seaside, DH is working all day so it's me that'll be doing all the mugging! See you all either after a lovely day, or a cold one! It's warmer today, but still not sure it's a day for beach front activity! But the children have spoken...

Diege · 10/04/2010 10:49

Ah, yes, the voice of The Children...ours have also decided it is a Picnic day (talked down from a BBQ - have I mentioned how much I hate BBQs??).
Mmm yes the economic thing was also mentioned as guiding trends in Grazia this week (so must be right ); that new Chanel nail varnish that's got waiting lists, with fash pack now drooling over the affordable and very updateable... Hope you're right about reds/oranges...my fave.
Right ds screaming - lost interest in playing with my keys..

NatalieJane · 10/04/2010 12:16

Well that lasted long! Last time I listen to the buggers! Oh well, at least we've been out the house, they are now in the garden, I closed the doors Anything for a bit of peace, so what if they're killing each other out there?!

Diege · 10/04/2010 12:53

Snap NAT! Picnic now lunch opn rug in garden, me inside, dh vaguely supervising...
Feeling domesticated and have 'run up' some scones . If anyone has a recipe where the scones actually rise, as opposed to me having to make them the height I want them to be before they go in the oven, then please let me know

essenceofSES · 10/04/2010 18:51

Diege - you're far more domesticated than I am. I've never made scones!

Sounds like everyone's had good weather today so hope the children playing in the garden has worked well today

Nothing too major going on here. Just a bit of a feeling that I'm taking on too much to fit into the time I have and a few issues with work.

Easter weekend was lovely. Met up with younger brother on Good Friday, older brother on Easter Sunday and saw parents as well. Easter Saturday was also a highlight. We had our Easter Vigil service at church and the group that I help run for the parish had 4 people baptised and another 6 confirmed. I know it's probably not anyone else's cup of tea but it was lovely and very moving.

Easter Monday, met up with my cousin and went to the children's hospital she works at as they were having an spring fair and then out for a meal with her and my aunt and uncle.

Back at work Tuesday and here I have to offload a bit I'm afraid...
Just to explain, my job is Area Pharmacy Manager (looking after pharmacy and healthcare for 19 shops). My boss is the Regional Pharmacy Manager (let's call him John!)who does a similar functional role at the next level up with about 100 shops. I work very closely though with my Area Manager also (let's call her Tina!) She looks after everything to do with the same area of 19 stores so my role is supportive to hers.
Anyway on Tuesday I was talking to John and he said that Tina had expressed concerns to him about how I was settling in on my return to work particularly with getting "down onto the patch" at an appropriate time each morning after the nursery drop off. I was v and a bit upset tbh as I'm v conscientious and also like to do my job to a high standard.
I got straight on the phone to Tina, told her what John had said and asked her if there had been any specific problems or concerns. She couldn't come up with any but did still express concern about how it was all working with me doing a f/t job in p/t hours and that on the Tues afternoon and Wednesday when I'm not around, she's getting lots more phonecalls and obviously not as much support from me as she would a f/t person in my position. She also asked me about timings of nursery drop off and when I get into the area. I don't have an office but go to whichever store or meeting I need to focus on that day. Seeing as this stretches from Brighton across to Hastings and I live up near Gatwick, the time I may get to a particular shop will vary. As I said, I'm v conscientious and always try to make sure I fulfill my obligations, especially hours I should be working.

Anyway, the upshot is that I managed to get a joint meeting with John and Tina on Friday which was a bit more positive and I brought up all the issues Tina had mentioned. John was fairly supportive of me which was good as he (at the end of the day) is my boss!

If you're still with me, then thank you for reading and letting me offload!

Quick update on other things - O has a really bad bout of conjunctivitis. I've got him some eye drops but both eyes are really full of puss. If no better by Tuesday, I'll take him to the GP on my afternoon off (don't want to take any time off after last week!)

Tonight though, I'm off out with post natal friends for pizza at ASK. Will be good to get some time to relax and enjoy some good food, good company and good wine

Sorry for mega post. Hope you all have a great evening.

tinkhastwoeasterbunnies · 10/04/2010 18:59
