Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
essenceofSES · 23/05/2010 20:59

Sorry for AF Diege.

Tink - I saw the temperature is due to drop too. Tbh, I quite like the hot weather but it's not so nice for the LOs is it!

We've had a lovely day here. Bought O a paddling pool which he loved and also a seat for the back of DH's bike. (Photos on FB!)

GruffaloSoldier · 23/05/2010 21:44

Hey everyone!

An amazingly hot day here too! We have had a busy but lovely day! Did food shop with GC while DH went out unicycling fo two hours on nearby trails. Then lunch then we went to town, our favourite coffee shop and I had a lovely cold milkshake Then we went on a long walk, stopping off at two parks. Then we saw a couple with a slack line between two trees (like a low tight rope) and so DH had to have a go! GC's face when he was watching him was a picture!Like "what are you doing, Dad?"

sorry for AF Diege - I am not feeling that hopeful for this month either. Not due to test for another week though.

Ses - bike seat sounds good - we have one for GC and he really likes it.

Hi Tink, bump, Gy, anyone else

GiraffeYoga · 24/05/2010 07:31

Morning everyone
Hope you all had great w/e in the sun (for those who like the heat that is)

Diege- sorry for AF arriving. Maybe nature is intervening to ensure you get a vomit free whitby holiday...

Rugby- great to see you back here. Sorry for end of maternity leave angst. Its an awful feeling, I really feel for you. Especially as you dont particualarly like your job.

Ses- hope you are feeling ok. Needing a break is natural like the others said. Still being up once or twice at night is hard when working the hours you do, plus DH being out long hours too- sounds like you are doing brilliantly not to be flaked out completely.
Saw your picks of the bike and helmet and paddling pool. Looks fab. I cant get over how much O looks like you !

Gruff- Big steamy hot wave over the main road! 2hrs of unicycling is impressive in the heat and your long walk sounds lovely.
Got my fingers crossed for you for no AF this month (that sounds a bit weird doesnt it!!?)

Hi Tink, Cant, MMM, Lardy, Moosy, Kay and everyone else.

Where is Nat- maybe she doesnt have internet at her new mansion house yet ?

We manaaged to squeeze in 2 BBQs this weekend and sit outside into the evening with cold drinks. Got the paddling pool out for SG and she loved it, splashing me and DH was the game of the weekend. She is getting closer to walking, she is doing one handed driving of her push along walker trolly things now and trying to stand up randomly in the middle of the room without anything to hold onto...

Suppose I should do some work. Im supposed to be leaving early to take DD to the Drs for her MMR later. She is a bit chesty and coldy- does anyone know if its still ok to have the jab? My mum said she should really be 100% well for it...?

GiraffeYoga · 24/05/2010 08:20

I've also posted in children's health

here

Rugbylovingmum · 24/05/2010 10:05

Morning everyone. Thank goodness it is a bit cooler today! We scots are not designed for sun or heat. C has really suffered - between being too hot, her gums hurting and a snotty nose she is really struggling to sleep. We still swaddle her for her naps and use a sleeping bag at night (or she constantly manages to turn onto her tummy and wedge her head in the corner then cry) but it's been too hot. Plus her mouth is too sore for her dummy and when she does manage to suck it she can't breath through her blocked nose. Poor little lass has been in a right grump all weekend .

Diege- sorry for AF arriving. You are obviously meant to have a fab whitby hol and sunny June with lots of lovely wine and coffee. It is your duty to make the most of it .

Ses- you shouldn't feel at all guilty for wanting a day to yourself. C is only 7 months and one of the reasons I would love her to take a cup/bottle is so I can leave her with my mum for the day and have some time to myself. I love C and love spending time with her but it's natural to want some time to switch off, recharge your batteries and relax. Yourv pics on fb are lovely, O seems to love the bike seat. Hoping to get one for C as soon as she is big enough so I can cycle to the nursery.

Gruff- Sounds like a fab weekend. LOL at the cub looking at his dad. Good luck for testing next week.

GY - yah for SG almost walking . The paddling pool sounds fun! Not sure about the MMR but my impression from friends and SIL is that it is better to postpone the injection if they aren't well. Probably better to ring up and check.

Tink - the cube looks cute, they have something similar but in plastic at our local softplay and C loves them but the wooden versions are so much cuter.

Sorry for all the spotty LOs, hope they are all getting less itchy!

Hi Cant, MMM, Lardy, Moosy, Kay and everyone else.

Diege · 24/05/2010 11:19

Morning! GIRAFFE, think you've had somegood advice re: MMR. Just a stuffy nose wouldn't necessarily put me off, but everything combined I think I'd postpone, even if no temp.
RUGBY, agree, cooler weather is much nicer. We Welsh are also not designed for the heat .Having said that, the wind was a little cool this morning...
SES, I must check out your fb piccies, O sounds so cute.
GRUFF, wish you the best if kuck with testing! Me having a bfp this month would actually have been good re: sickness as it would have passed by time of whitby hols ,so will be giving it a miss this month. Having said that, I'll be nearly 12 weeks by the time we go if I did get pregnant in June...just not wanting ti stop now we've finally got going, plus with the buf 4-0 but 3 days away I'm not sure if I can afford to take a month out
Right, exam papers to mark, have put off long enough.
Oh and not sure if I mentioned that my 2 bosses seem fine with change to full-time. Honestly though, one was a real durgh brain. I went through all that I was doing teaching-wise and research, so it was clear to see I was doing well over my 0.8n hrs. He interjected, ah,so you want to drop down to 0.6?? . Ah yes,I want to do full-time hrs and drop another 20% of my income please . Bless the pair of them though, I think they are totally thrown by someone with 4 young children wanting to increase her hours .

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 24/05/2010 12:17

Wow, its quiet on here.

Tink- good shopping as usual.

Diege- how was the cooking? I love rhubarb crumble!

I went out with my NCT group last night, only there was only 4 out of 7 of us. Was really nice size group for dinner. 7 is too big for a proper chat but this was perfect feel a bit about missing maternity leave and my "Mum" friends today though Im rather annoyed as I ordered decaff coffee but they must ahve given me normal as I was awake until 2.30am. So I've had 3 hrs sleep.... someone pass the matches!

Oh and and another member of the group is pregnant. 2 down, 5 to go.......

Diege · 25/05/2010 09:29

Morning! Hi GIRAFFE, your evening sounds great; they do tend to 'forget' about the decaff I find, and yes, we can tell!! Are many of your group still on ML?
Final (for now) interview today,so leaving for the hospital shortly. Will be glad to finish them tbh!
Hope everyone's ok

GiraffeYoga · 25/05/2010 10:37

Hi Diege
Good luck for the interview.

Out of our 7, we have 3 back to work full time, 1 part time, 1 was made redundant but doing bits and pieces of work and 2 ladies of leisure... (one of which is pregnant and the other is trying to be i think!)

Yawn.....

maxxymoosmummy · 25/05/2010 12:57

heya everyne, sorry not had internet for couple of days. hope everyone is well.
wat have i missed?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 25/05/2010 13:45

Afternoon.

Diege- I'm at a wedding on the 1st. You'll have a hard time getting anywhere from the station on foot really, where you staying at? Can make a picnic anywhere close, ie in walking distance from me.

As for Manchester meet, when had we said? Will have to check DH can have the day off to child-sit!

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 25/05/2010 16:07

Hope everyone is well.. Storms tomorrow I love the sun...

essenceofSES · 25/05/2010 21:02

Hello bumps!
Glad you got to enjoy a bit of sun, even if you do have a painful back now!

Diege - hope the final MW interview went ok

Giraffe - sounds like a good night out (except for the forgotten decaff)
What's the latest on the debate over 4 or 5 days at work?

Hello MMM, tink, Rugby and anyone else lurking!

LOL at the tumbleweed fights

I've had a much better few days. Had to go into work Monday morning for a meeting but I've been off since then and don't go back in until next Tues
O is part in nursery and part with me and it's lovely. I've been able to get lots of little jobs done that have been waiting and have some lovely O time

Spoke to my brother and SIL earlier. I think I've mentioned them before when there was the floods near them up in the Lake District (they live in Keswick). SIL is head teacher at a v small village primary school and it seems she got caught up with this coach crash and was early on the scene and then set her school up as an emergency centre. She then found out that she knew the man that was killed from the car. Makes it all seem v real
Everyone hug those they love close.

Diege · 25/05/2010 21:22

Evening . SES,glad you are having a nice couple of days with O. Agree, the awful crash really does put things into perspective
BUMPS, storms tomorrow did you say??
TINKS, sounds like a good day; must be nice having your mum over so much
CANT, think we're going to have tyo give Blackpool a miss as didn't count on the station being so far from the centre of things. We were just coming for the day, and don't really want to be getting buses/taxis etc after a long journey, esp not knowing the area. WE're going to Southport now instead! Re: Manchester meet-up June 28th (ish) seems to ring a bell!
GIRAFFE,hope you managed to stay awake!
Re: mw interview, she didn't turn up . Will now have to rearrnage for a few weeks time...Must go and finish exam script marking now...willput me to sleep anyway zzzzz

maxxymoosmummy · 25/05/2010 21:54

DIEGE the town is close to the station, and also the beach is in walking distance, about 5 - 10 mins from the station.
what a PITA about the interview.

GruffaloSoldier · 25/05/2010 22:47

Evening all!

Me, DH and GC went to see my sister and BIL and DN this morning in London. was such a lovely day!GC met his cousin for the first time There is 11 months between them I think they are going to be so close!

I took home made choc cake (our mums recipe) and the ingredients for hot sweet chili chicken wraps which I made for lunch. we dat out in the garden under the umbrella thing and it was fab I had a great time and so did GC!(and DH).

Have not noticed any symptoms really this month so not hopeful for a BFP. Im due AF at the weekend though so we shall see.

Ses - Great about time off yes crash sounds awful. hope your DB and SIL are ok.

Diege - bad luck about interview, hope you can reschedule soon. Great about hours at work getting sorted out.

Bump - sorry for sunburn!one word - SUNCREAM!

Tink - Great about DD1 doing well. fab that your mum was over!

GY - NCT night out sounds good. I went out with 5 of my NCT girls last Monday and was really nice evening! Only 2 of us from 7 are SAHM, rest are back P/T, I think 1 is F/T. No one pg yet! Sorry for coffee - that is so annoying when they do that - idiots!
sorry that you were feeling about ML and "Mum" friends. I take it you and DH are still not agreed on what to do? I hope you can find an arrangement that you are happy with soon I miss you GY my mummy friend! But... "We'll meet again...dont know where...dont know wheeeeeeeen! But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Keep smiling through, just like you always do,
'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away. " La la la

was that a bit much??

hello to anyone Ive missed!

essenceofSES · 26/05/2010 07:42

Morning!

Gruff - sounds like a great day and how lovely for GC to have a cousin so close to grow up and be friends with.

Diege - Grr! at MW not turning up!

Well I'm stupidly excited this morning as I've been using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor to try and pinpoint ovulation and I've got my first high this morning. It measures low, high or peak. The high picks up increasing oestrogen in the 2-3 days leading up to ovulation and the peak picks up ovulation itself. Have booked a GOF with DH for tonight and just have to hope that's enough as DS and I go away tomorrow to York until Monday...

Anyway, hello everyone else. Hope everyone's ok and has a good day

cantmummyhaveabreak · 26/05/2010 07:43

Diege- I thought you were staying overnight, if not then the station is close enough to everything you'd need! And could picnic on the beach if you were still coming! Had visions of you all struggling with suitcases!

28th June should be ok. I'll be fairly skint but should be able to make it.

Had some very bad news last week, BIL's cancer had come back, we were awaiting the results, and it's not good. There's way too much to remove, he's been given 12 months to live. So we're now putting the boiler on hold to save every penny possible to make more visits.

essenceofSES · 26/05/2010 07:52

Morning Cant
How awful for your family about BIL
How is your DH?
Yet another thing that puts little moans and trivialities in perspective.
