Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cantmummyhaveabreak · 21/05/2010 14:08

Diege- your in blackpool week after next? I'm super skint after a bad month money-wise but could try and meet up. What you planning to get up to while your here? We have payday on the 5th so dependant on spends and what time you have to leave could meet then? Or maybe a picnic at Stanley park could be in order, will speak to MMM and see what we can do.

Hello everyone else. Migrane finally gone and think I'm doing well for sleep with DD2 too, she's gone 7 till 6 the last 2 or 3 nights! Wuhoo!

Have DS's best friend for tea after school. I'm making cheeseburger and curly fries for tea. Have also made jelly and ice-cream for pudding too! Yummy!

Sorry to hear of all the CP going round, luckily my 3 all got it when DD2 was only about 6 weeks old I think. Though her CP was super mild, think she only got 12 spots in total, half expect her to catch a stronger dose later in life.

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 21/05/2010 14:20

oh can you save some for me cant sounds lush

glad migraine has moved

Diege · 21/05/2010 16:22

CANT, I was thinking of doing things very much on the cheap as I am mucho skinto too . It would have to be Tuesday 1st/Wednesday 2nd I'm afraid as they're the only days I've offically booked 'off' for the 2 weeks. Can't really risk wfh and then heading off on train. A picnic sounds great though, and then I could maybe head off with dds to the seafront (NOT the fair) and take them on a few rides.I'll probably get fish and chips for them late afternoon. Would be great to see you and MMM,even just for an hour! Is it all do-able on foot do you think from the train station?
ps: are you still up for end of JUne manchester meet?
pps: what was that date again for London?
Hi TINKS!

GiraffeYoga · 21/05/2010 16:32

Hi Guys

LB- great to see you again, but sorry your DS is so poorly. Hope NHS direct helps...

Playing sorry to hear of your stomach bug. Not what you need when pregnant Or at any time really. Hope you are on the mend.

Diege- going to 5 days sounds like sensible idea under the situation. Did they say yes ? (sorry if I missed that bit)

My work is manic and 4 days would mean 5 over evenings and weekends and 20% less pay.. hence the discussion and reluctance from DH. Will need to keep talking on this one.

Think we said Sunday 18th July for the London meet. I have it in the diary. Is everyone else ok for that?

Chocolate button anyone?

Rugbylovingmum · 21/05/2010 17:21

Hi all,

sorry I've been awol for a couple of weeks - what have I missed? Anything major?

Things have been a bit crazy here but I think we finally have the new house sorted. It's taken ages but we are exchanging next Friday and hopefully moving on the 14th June . It's a bit later than we hoped but at least it's finally happening. I'm looking forward to having a garden to sit out in and just hope this fantastic weather continues .

I'm back at work in 4 weeks and I'm really not looking forward to it. I think it's partly just the reluctance everyone feels when their maternity leave is coming to an end and partly the fact I wasn't enjoying my job before I left. I'd also really rather work 3 days instead of 4 - I'm finding the idea of putting C in nursery for 4 days surprisingly difficult. I know she'll be fine and I'm not saying it's a bad thing if people do use childcare 4 or 5 days a week, I'd just prefer not too right now. I might feel differently if I enjoyed my job but it seems silly to have her at nursery for more than half the week so I can go back to a job I'm not enjoying and don't want to carry on doing.

I'm seriously thinking about looking for a new job, I just have no idea what - any ideas??? I've had enough of research/labwork but I've no idea what else I can do with a science degree/PhD . I know I don't want to go into a publishing or grant review type job. I enjoy the problem-solving and data analysis aspect of my job but I don't know what other jobs would use those skills? Oh yeah and I really just want to work 3 days a week, 9-5, in a job I probably won't have experience in and be paid enough to make it worth working - no problem, right . To be honest I'm not sure how serious I am - I'll feel very guilty leaving in the middle of a contract. I have to go back for 3 months so I might as well see how it goes but even if I don't want a new job now I want to think about what I'll do when I finish in 2 years.

Sorry for me me me post! Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine.

Diege · 21/05/2010 19:46

Have just put 18th July on the calander - thanks GIRAFFE! That's a tough one with your work, though I suppose if your work is going to fill 5 days easily, even if you drop to four, then your quality if life isn;t going to be improved massively all round . For me, the dedicated day at home just wasn't worth the financial piss-take, plus work was infringing more and more on that hallowed 'day off'.
RUGBY, great to hear from you . You're right, it's the 'end of maternity leave blues', but with the nasty twist of you not liking the job you're going back to. Until I got to the fact that you want a 9-5 I would have said why not try lecturing??? So maybe teaching? I know they are crying out for science teachers, and there's this scheme where you get paid to train on the job so don't have to sacrifice loads to get qualified. I suppose with teaching, it may not be financially viable in the short term, but with lecturing your PhD would be your most valuable asset. Just some thoughts!!!
Absolutely shattered. A very full-on day with dd3 and ds, then the heat after getting older dds from schooljust whacked us out.Dh of course comes bounding in full of the joys, turns the hose on them, cue second baths as they were muddy too, plus a trail of muddy footprints ovee the hallcarpet
Fully expecting af this weekend too.Never mind, only one week till the weekend of my year (and I'm not talking about my 40th .Can anyone guess what's happening next Sat???(clue: we have a party every year to celebrate it)

bumpsnowjustplump · 21/05/2010 20:35

Hello everyone. Went to gp and owen has a chest infection as well as an inflammed throat. His cp have also got infected so on AB.... I hope this settles him down abit now... he is asleep as we speak!!!

Ses if you manage to get on can you tell me if I can give him piriton liquid as well as calpol and AB? The AB are co-amoxiclav (amoxicillin and slavulanic acid)?

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 21/05/2010 21:02

hi

bumps poor owen!!!

hi diege and others

nitey niteyxx

maxxymoosmummy · 21/05/2010 21:29

eveing all,
had a good day at work, was finished by 1.45, so was great. got to have an afternoon in the sun. went for a meal aswel for tea and it was lovely
headache still there but keeping taking paracetomol to ease it.

DIEGE im free any day other than monday and friday really, wioll be good to meet up

wen is the manchester meet?

maxxymoosmummy · 21/05/2010 21:32

sorry BUMPS hope Owen gets better soon, and you get your well deserved rest.

essenceofSES · 21/05/2010 21:33

Just checking in...

Bumps - poor O Poor you too as you've not all been well for a few weeks now I think.
The answer is yes! - you can give piriton and paracetamol and co-amoxiclav! Sounds a lot but they're all processed differently in the body so no interaction.
Glad you got the advice to go to GP and got an appointment before the wkend.

18th July is in my diary

Rugby - great to hear from you. I remember having v similar anxieties except that I had previously enjoyed my job. Would have been so much worse if I hadn't. Hope you manage to reconcile things. Maybe teaching is an option as Diege suggests?

Diege - eurovision??? I can't think if anything else

hello Giraffe, Moosy, tink, MMM, Cant

I'm actually feeling really down tonight. I know it's partly exhaustion. DS still wakes once in the night, yesterday I had a training day in Nottingham, DH is normally at work 7-8 are all factors impacting on my tiredness. I know none of the above is that unusual but I really feel like I could do with a 24hr break from DS which I've never had. That sounds awful and I feel such a bad mum for wanting that break which then just makes me feel more down.
Think I'll head off to bed and try and get a good night sleep.

essenceofSES · 21/05/2010 21:35

Read that back and I feel even worse now! I think I have it pretty good really. Hope it's just tiredness speaking and I feel better in the morning.

essenceofSES · 22/05/2010 07:08

Morning! Sorry for those last 2 posts last night.
I think I'd just gradually got over tired and things a bit out of perspective. Especially when I think of Bumps lack of sleep and her and Moosy's chicken pox situation.
Had an ok night. Got wken twice by O and brought him into bed at 4am. Now up and getting ready for work! Last proper day in my old job as I'm on leave next week

Looks set for a beautiful hot sunny weekend so I hope you all have a great one.

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/05/2010 08:15

Ses thank you for that, Owen did better last night, got him to sleep at 7 and he woke screaming at 10 but after piriton, AB and calpol at 11 he did go back to sleep at 1 and he slept until 7!!

It is natural to feel that you need a break ses please dont feel like a bad mum.. It is as if you are doing two jobs and sometimes you can feel like you are drowning!! Wanting a break doesn't make you a bad mum it makes you human... Hope today is not too bad and you enjoy your week off....

Mark is at home today looking after owen and I am taking Jessica to her cousins first birthday party! It is the first time i have left Owen so hope he is ok without me!!

Diege · 22/05/2010 09:47

Morning! SES, you are totally normal in wanting a break - for the last 8 years now I have had fantasies of checking into the travel lodge next to the train station and staying for the night .Is it possible that you really could get away for a night? I have to say I do try and do this once in a while, and feel so recharged for it!
MMM, I think it will be either the Tuesday or the Wednesday of that week,so yes would be great to see you and your gorgeous ds again. The dds love little boys, especially dd1, and they will keep him entertained! CANT, do you have a prefernece for Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd? I'll book train tickets then and hopefully get a bit cheaper
MIL coming over at noon - she's been away in London for a few weeks and it's felt like I've had a real break - lovley and relaxing without the accompanying anxiety... Woke at 5 today, and was out in the village with ds at 7. LOvely and hot(well, too hot really) here, and dds and maybe ds will be in the paddling pools this afternoon no doubt!
Waiting for af and trying not to conjure up any symptoms as I've done so well this month to put any pregnancy signs out of my mind!

Diege · 22/05/2010 09:49

Oh and BUMPS glad that you have at least had some good advice from GP (and SES!); enjoy the party
Oh and SES, yes Eurovision I am so exicited and looking forward to tuning in to the quarters and semis next week before the Big Day

Diege · 22/05/2010 20:38

Arghh I bet you're all having lovely BBQs and sipping chilled wine!! DDs are up watching their cherished Over The Rainbow final, dh out, and I'm really looking forward to relaxing when they're in bed. They're usually in bed at 7am so this is really odd! They'll still be up at 6am though

essenceofSES · 22/05/2010 20:44

Thanks for the reassurance Bumps and Diege. I am feeling much better today and had a bit of a break after work as I met up with my brother and his fiancee for a pub lunch before coming home.

Bumps - glad you had a better night and I really hope O is doing better today and has another better night.
Hope you and J had a good time at the party. I'm sure M and O had fun!

DH texted me this morning whilst I was at work - apparently DS's nappy exploded and DH found him with poo in his hair, down his legs, over the carpet.... (you get the idea!) Apparently it was my fault for not putting his nappy on properly Anyway, they seem to have survived it ok

Diege - any signs of AF yet?!
Maybe we should have a meet up at a spa sometime for a bit of R&R

Hello everyone else - hope you've all had a lovely sunny day

essenceofSES · 22/05/2010 20:45

x-posted Diege!
I'm watching Over The Rainbow too! I'm a sucker for these programmes I'm afraid!

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 22/05/2010 21:13

evening hope everyone had a good sat
we went to our local farm had a lovely day

bumpsnowjustplump · 23/05/2010 07:43

Morning all. Party was ok, Jessica has a lovely time but I couldnt' relax as I wanted to be with owen. Mark and Owen had a good day although the house is a pig sty now (well he was looking after owen )

I am going to try and get some sun today, been stuck indoors for so long due to spots that today I am taking the plunge and taking them into the garden. I will put trousers and long sleave shirt on owen and hat so most spots will be covered.. I want some colour on my skin

Hope you are all well..

Diege · 23/05/2010 13:10

Hello! Roasting hot here again, too hot for me.
Glad you're feeling better SES - anytime you fancy a spa day just shout - I have lots of credits stored up with dh
BUMPS, hope the sun shines for you today and that OWEN is on the road to recovery.
TINKS, farm day sounds good yesterday. Good to get out and about in this weather.
Dh is taking older dds out swimming so think I'll take ds and dd3 into the village and get an iced coffee from the coffee shop. I am feeling very lazy in this heat! No af yet...trying not to symptom spot as due anytime from yesterday up to Thursday and don't want to get my hopes up.Maybe I'll test on my birthday, though a bfn first thing may put a downer on the day!

Well af had just arrived - didn't in my heart of hearts think it was my month, but youn know how your mind starts to play tricks? So, onto July (can't do June as if I did get pregnant that month (and sod's law I would)and was badly sick as per the other pregnancies, it would be right in the middle of Whitby hols. Looking forward instead to losing the last half stone and enjoying some proper coffee!
