Last off, first on!

Good morning all

Well, this will most likely be my last post in this house, hopefully, the phone line will be on at the new house tomorrow so it shouldn't be too long before I can get back, going to obviously depend on time.

Got so much still to do, the hectotic time is here! Basically by the time we go to bed we need to have everything except parts of the kitchen and bathrooms packed and ready to go, t'is going to be a long old day, but am so looking forward to getting it all to the new house, and as I'm packing I keep thinking 'oh, that can go there, that can here...'

Got nearly all of my office stuff over last night and unpacked, took some of the spare and breakfast crockery, and my crystal glasses ( yes I know I'm not actually 70 years old but I love them!!), more toys went, and DH took a load of the boxes out of the garage late last night, hope my CD's are there, am so sick of the same 5 CD's and my MP3, 8 months is a long old time with no variety, especially for someone like me that ALWAYS has music on!

Anyway, am waffling again, so I guess I'll see you all on the other side! Take care everyone and have good weekends x

maxxymoosmummy · 06/05/2010 09:00

morning all,
Ms new pram arrived yesterday at 3.30 so i decided to 'road' test it and i love it so its all good.

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 06/05/2010 09:15

nj - good luck for today

oh no to poo!!

hi mm - ye for pram

have a bid on one of my items on ebay

dd1 off school today school is a polling station

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/05/2010 09:25

MMM- it will happen- BOTH my 2 have done it... just waiting on ruby now!! worst when you get up and it's smeared all over the cot!! YUK!!

Nat- good luck for the move!!

Still got tons of cleaning to do, just keep finding more and more to do... then the things i did last week all need going over again!! I never used to do this much housework... so why have i started???... i actually dont like it, because it's strange that i'm behaving like this, i can't control it- i am actually obsessed!!

Diege · 06/05/2010 10:53

Hello! Have been hectotic with work (problems still ongoing, though have secured a few minor victories along the way)and have been reading through but have forgotten everything now!! Other than NAT's poo paintings, MMM's new buggy, and TINKS e-bay bid
Have the decorator here today (working from home), which is ok but he is Very Needy and has had me popping out to get decorators' caulk and a stiff brush . I have told him I am Very Busy, but he's dying for me to go upstairs for a chat I think. He has a hacking cough, not helped by the steamer he's using, and it's getting me a bit 'on edge'. I am hard faced I know Will be great to have it done at last - though first of many rooms..
Right, better check my e-mails at work, see if my p45 tis in the post

GiraffeYoga · 06/05/2010 10:56

morning

good luck Nat- sorry for car stress and poo incident. I will look fwd to that delight!

Tink hurray for ebay bids!

Hi MMM- welcome back.

Cant- your cleaning certainly does sound a bit obsessive - dont forget to take some time for yourself to rest. Or delegate to DH.

hi star, great to hear from you

Got to run to do some work now, back laters

ps hope everyone has voted!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/05/2010 11:00

GY- DH??? he doesn't know how to clean properly- whenever he does start somethign he finishes bfore he's finished the job, so i have to do it anyway!! haha!!

Diege- hope emails are positive

GiraffeYoga · 06/05/2010 12:08

LOL - reckon that is a carefully thought out strategy. Do it badly and you wont get asked to do it!!

Diege · 06/05/2010 13:23

Ahh yes, that old chestnut of 'learned helplessness' CANT . I had this with dh until I figured that if he were faced with the same tasks at work (ie, pushing a 'on' button on the washing machine, emthying hoover bag, putting hair into ponytails...) he would not raise a murmur of inability...It is a long hard training process though, trying to undo what MIL hasn;t instilled, but we are gettign there. Seriously though, is the cleaning bug related to just how much there is to do (in which case, a def case of kicking dh into shape) or are you doing stuff that doesn;t really need doing?
Decorator man still coughing away...has now said he thinks it will be 3 days work - including weekend. Not great, as with dh away I don't really fancy getting everyone up and dressed ready for 7.45am start he has planned singlehandedly!
Oh and yes have voted! We have posters on our windows (not saying for who ) and are quite a Political Family

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 06/05/2010 13:31

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/05/2010 13:35

TBH- I think i'm just doing it for the sake of doing it... and things that aren't done on a weekly basis like cleaning under beds, pulling all beds out and hoovering the floor and cleaning the skirtings, sorting the 'stored stuff' on top of wardrobes, skirtings, inside kitchen cupboards etc... so i'm doing things that i'd never even consider asking DH to help with... he'll happily do things like wash pots, or hoover a room, put a load of washing on... but he will always forget at least a handful of pots, no matter how little there to begin with, and hoovering will only be one room, never the whole house in one go like i like to do, then the living room normally gets done daily, and with putting washing on he never folds the stuff that comes out of the dryer (when it's raining/winter) just bungs it in the basket, and when i ask him to get the washing off the line he never folds it either, so i have to fold it... whereas when i get it off the line i fold it straight away.

Even simple things like i put a pile of clean clothes neatly folded on his side of the bed, come bedtime he'll just take it off and put it on the floor in front of his wardrobe, he'll do this several times till i get sick of it and put the huge pile (or 2) into his wardrobe!! TBH he can be a bit lazy- but i suppose i've always done it for him, and before that his mum always did it for him.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/05/2010 13:36

oh and ps- not voted yet, doing it when DH gets home from work. gonna walk round with the DC's. know who i'm voting for tho.

Diege · 06/05/2010 14:06

Your dh sounds a bit like me CANT (re: single room hoovering - I feel proide enough when I've done the one room) and a bit like my dh (the clothes in the bedroom thing - so annoying). Depends how much it irritates you I suppose re: asking him to do it better!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 06/05/2010 14:14

Ah i'm just used to it- one day i'll snap- but it'll most likely when i'm back at work. I can cope till then- i mean all the time i sit here gabbing and i'm not running round cleaning... He does actually work pretty darn hard at work, plus a 2hr commute each day too... i'll let him off for now!!

however- talking about hoovering has made me decide to hoover the whole house (except my bedroom as DD2 is having a nap... so off i go!!

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 07/05/2010 09:08

Diege · 07/05/2010 20:19

Hello! I'm here, but snowed under with a combination of work, dh away (again) and dds' friends over for tea
All fine, gearing up for gof-time though have never felt less like doing so!
Hope you get your boiler sorted CANT, and step away from the hoover . BTW is it the possible surrogate coupe you are seeing this weekend?
TINKS, do you have any links to your e-bay items?
Dd3's room finished (well, decorating anyway)and it looks lovely. Last night was a disaster sleep-wise; dd3 in our room while her's was out of action and she was awake from 2am - I might as well have stayed up watching the election results! Really hope she's better tonight, but will be back in her own room tomorrow.
Hope everyone is ok!

essenceofSES · 07/05/2010 22:03

Hello!

I've just finished wrapping up O's birthday presents
We've got him a Fireman Sam book, a Fireman Sam backpack (for nursery), a Jo Jingles doll and a light & sound remote control toy for the car.

His birthday is on Sunday and we're hoping for good weather as we've got about 20 people coming over for a bbq. DH's sister and aunt are flying over from Ireland for a few days too!

Bought him his first proper pair of shoes on Wednesday - some Geox ones, size 3. He really struggled to walk in them to begin with, bless him. He looked like he was marching whenever he tried. He's got used to them now and was walking around outside when we got home from nursery. He has no fear though and headed straight for the patio steps!

Diege - hope things are going to be ok at work for you. Any further negotiations?
DH away and DDs' friend over??!! You are superwoman!
How's the decorating going?
Hope the GOFing plan works out and also that you get a better night's sleep tonight.

Cant - could you pop down and do my cleaning? Loads to do before irish rellies arrive and house full on Sunday but I'm working tomorrow morning so time running short!

Nat - that car incident must have been v scary. Hope all's going well with the big move!
As for the poo incident I'm not looking forward to that stage!

MMM - what is your new pram?

Hello Giraffe, Star, Gruff, tink and anyone else around!

maxxymoosmummy · 08/05/2010 08:29

morning all,
was at work yesterday then went to my friends. work is much better than it was before i went away. the old boss has been sacked, so we now have breaks, dont have as much work to do and get thanks for the work we do. and every body is happier.
SES i got a chicco liteway in chelsea. its really nice and easy to push around alot better than his other.
hoping for the weather to stay nice today, as planned to have a BBQ at the parents later.
off shopping today with DM, CANT and her friend.
hoping for a good day.
hope everyone has a great saturday

Diege · 08/05/2010 08:54

Morning! Hope the weather stays good for weekend plans - shopping sounds fun MMM (tell your sister to stop cleaning ), and many happy returns for O SES if I don't get on tomorrow - the year seems to have flown by - doesn't seem 5 mins since we were worrying about those first scans!
Work is OK thanks SES, though nothing resolved over degree closure (not that I think anything I say will matter, as it's one of those things decided from way above for political reasons that won't change just because someone's presented a solution that is actually rational and will work . I scored a minor victory end of week over something that had been decided, all I had to do was sign on the dotted line, but it would have been Very Wrong. So I didn't and the change hasn;t happened ( they actually needed me to agree for it to go ahead). My card 'has been marked' apparently though by a new manager who thought I was a soft touch...I usually am, but when I really feel something is wrong and being done for the wrong reasons, I won't shift ..
Right, I'll stop waffling now...dh back tonight, dds watching HSM 2 (ds transfixed ).
Friends who came over yesterday are back this afternoon, so 6 kids again...going to plant fair in park this morning if I can get motivated. Hope everyone has a good weekend xx

Hi TINKS Curtains up here too, in dd3's newly done room. They look great but took absolutely ages to put up - have old fashioned runners and fixed wooden pelmut, v.tricky, my nails are wrecked.. Going to order duvet sets in coordinating fabrics from place that did our curtains (curtainsforkids website), at least when I get some money!
Ebay bits look great TINKS - I remember that rosebud dollshouse The only thing I'd say is that you might in the future want to take more piccies - I find it really does help increase sales. Sure they'll sell anyway though
Dh back now and is being sent out to get takeaway - no wonder I can't lose that last half a stone..I've had 6 kids in the house all afternoon though, so feel I deserve a treat!
