Re: Manchester meet-up, shall we try then for last weekend in June?
TINKS, curtains sound good (my current obsession too), btw, would be good to meet my fellow-shopaholic - hope you can make London meet-up

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/04/2010 17:59

sat the 27th june? sounds ok so far to me... manchester is only a 45min train ride away for me... can get lunch while we're there .... i may be able to window shop too- but seeing as we're also saving for this new boiler i'll prob be best not buying- unless i get any bday money of course!!

Diege · 29/04/2010 18:48

Evening

Saturday 3rd July - Diege, Playing
Sat 10th July - Diege, Playing
Sunday 11th July - Diege, Playing
Sat 17th July - Playing
Sun 18th July - Ses, Playing, Diege
Sat 24th July - Playing, GYo
Sun 25th July - Ses, Playing, GYo
Sat 21st Aug - Playing, Diege
Sun 22nd Aug - Ses, Playing, Diege
Sat 28th Aug - Diege, GYo
Sun 29th Aug - Ses, Diege, GYo

Might be able to make a Manchester meet up but without a car it would be difficult, would have to look into the train or get DH to bring me.

Nat - no not everyone knows. In fact not many people know. Its not a state secret but I only tested 6 days ago and simply haven't had a chance to tell everyone and some of my friends (antenatal group particularly) I am reluctant to tell yet because I know 1 of our number who is also pg and hasn't told people yet and I really don't want to steal her thunder as she was the one who had to have IVF last time and everyone will just be so thrilled at her news. Need to talk to her first really till I work out quite how I am going to play it. Its got to come out next weds though as we're all out on a girls night out and will be immediately sussed.

Can I have an excitable wordy splurge?!

I have a new job!!!!

On Monday I got a phone call asking me to attend a meeting on Tuesday. Me and the other 11 Area Pharmacy Managers went to this meeting and were told that the company is restructuring and the role of AM will no longer exist from June!
We then had one to one meetings where we were each offered a new job (from a choice of 5 different roles).
Because there's no change in terms and conditions, they had already decided which job we are going to do and basically just told us.

The good news for me is that out of the choice of 5, I've got the role that I would have chosen!
It's a brand new role that's never existed before which means I'm not totally sure what it will look like on a day to day basis but also I can make it what I want to a certain extent.

The role entails being line manager for a team of about 30-35 relief pharmacists who are employed by us but work around a number of stores covering holidays, days off, etc as needed. I will also line manage the 2 admin assistants who plan where these pharmacists are needed on a daily basis. The final part will be to be involved with the recruitment of new pharmacists.
Our relief pharmacists are typically not v happy people. This is because it's not an easy role being in a different shop with a different team on an almost daily basis so one of my main tasks will be to motivate them and get them feeling more positive.

Sorry to go on but this role (on paper at least!) really seems to play to my strengths and I'm really pleased that I've got something good out of a restructure for a change! They're also happy to stick with my current hours/days and potentially I could have a bit more flexibility around working from home as they're going to give me a laptop (finally!) Also may get a fleet car as the geography my team work over is quite large (East and West Sussex, so from nearly at Portsmouth to Hastings with approx. 60 stores).

And of course... no more "Tina"!

Well, I'll still have a little bit of work to do alongside her but not as much. I do keep "John" as my boss but he's ok really!
The only concern I have is that I've got an awful lot of direct reports that I need to sit down with individually and set performance plans, development plans and have career discussions with!

Sorry I've typed loads!! I feel like Nat chatting about her course!!

GruffaloSoldier · 29/04/2010 21:54

Hello all,

I think I can do pretty much all those dates except for last 2 August ones! I need to check with DH but not going to effect him really.

I will check and then will post what dates I can do.

Had a really busy day today. Met with a friend for coffee and then had an hour for lunch and GC's nap and then out again this afternoon for NCT meet. Was a nice day though. Oh and GC slept from 7.30pm - 9am last night! I think he might be sickening for something but I did enjoy another lie in

We have Monkey Music tomorrow - bit nervous as I wont know anyone!

Oh and re testing Im not sure what to do. Need to wait as long as poss as I dont want to waste any more tests!I had very sore boobs last night and nausea this morning but I think there is a lot to be said for the power of the mind and what it can do to make you think you are pg!!!

Right I am going to collapse for a bit - today was too much for me!

Hello to all!

Diege · 29/04/2010 22:10

Hey SES that's brilliant news about the new job No more Tina . I'm so pleased that things have genuinely turned out for the best, and what a rollar coaster of a day. Did you suspect a 'restructuring'?
PLAYING, would be great to see you in Manchester. I don't drive, so will be coming to London by train. It's not too bad a journey and can be fairly cheap if you book early... Otherwise it is £149
GRUFF now those symptoms DO sound good. When is af due again? Good on the sleep situation too; long may it continue!
BTW just watched a film called 'Triangle' - has anyone else on thr wagon seen it who can explain to me just what went on ?
Off to bed now - dh away till sat night on the first of his 2 jollies

NatalieJane · 30/04/2010 07:24

Morning

Playing, good job I didn't put my comment, remembered what it was refering to as well, it was the wedding dress thing!

Ses, that is fantastic news! Sound's like it is just what you're looking for, get's you out of the situation with Tina, gives you more room to breathe with the possibility of WFH, and even better than all of that, it sound's like you have a lot of enthusiasm for this new role as well - brilliant

Diege/Can't/anyone else, I will have to check with DH on that date, make sure he isn't on call, but it sound's good to me It is also the weekend after my birthday so good excuse to do some shopping!

We've got to go and sign the contracts/pay for the house this afternoon, it's a bit annoying that it then becomes 'officially' our rental, and we're paying to rent it, and yet we can't even go and look at it How dare they not get shifted out?!! On plus side though, it is Friday, and we all know what that means! Just a shame DH is on call all weekend, inc. Monday.

Oooh, forgot to tell you all, yesterday, bearing in mind he's had some major-ish speech delays, and it's only really been the last month or so he's been putting any sort of sentence together, DS2 yesterday, came to me and gave me a cuddle, (only happens if something is wrong!) I said, 'what's the matter?' he said 'I'm sad mum', I said 'why are you sad baby?' he said (with really sad puppy dog eyes, and very serious voice) 'I need a chocolate lollipop to cheer me up' Awww, I nearly cried! If I'd have had a chocolate lollipop he'd have had it, as it was he had to put up with a milkybar!

Starshinetiger · 30/04/2010 08:30

Am lurking from a really sickly bed and on my phone, but don't want to miss out on a meet up. Have added my info below. Really can't do 3 or 4 July as have two things on that weekend already, so hope it's not that one, but understand if that's the only one everyone else can do.

morning!! spent all day yesterday sorting through the clothes i'd put aside for DD2 to grow into, but as i find i tend to end up buying all new for her i thought i could do with the space more, and the extra pennies towards the boiler are a welcome bonus. Luckily my days work is paying off as i've sold a fair few bits already!! Wuhoo!!

Got to sort through all my outgrown clothes today, and have a pile of girls coats to sort through too- this spring cleaning has really hit me in all ways!!

Diege · 30/04/2010 09:59

Morning . Off out soon to constipation clinic with dd3 for her regualr check-up. Was hard getting everyone up, breakfasted and out of the door by 8.15, without dh here to get in the way do his part, but we did it without a hitch . Looking forward to my lie-in sunday morning though...
Re: London meet-up not sure if we should just go for the max no. we can make on the Sunday 25th July is looking good for everyone (but me!), really can't do that as dd1's birthday party, but while I'd be disappointed, may be the solution to go with that one? Unless there's a chance that SES could get a Sat off? (though totally understand if not, esp as new post!).
Right, better fly, need to get bus. Back later!

GiraffeYoga · 30/04/2010 10:22

If the Sun 18th July is good for everyone else - lets go with that- then Diege can attend too!. Its ages til my NCT grp will decide what we are doing and I will just say I cant do the sunday, just the saturday

Hope the constipation clinic is ok- doesnt sound so good for DD.

Diege · 30/04/2010 17:08

Afternoon . Clinic went well; dds tummy is back to normal after the terrible impacted bowel she had, which is a relief. Still to take her meds for a while yet, but they're very pleased with her progress so all good. Took her to McDonalds for a 'treat' and suffered the smirks from others as I got a cheese sandwich and fruit out for ds . He got a sneaky chip too though and sucked it to death

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 30/04/2010 19:04

hi diege - what great news about dd
have tried to sell on ebay before not much luck i have sold things in the local paper in the last week so thought i would give it a go if no like may try ebay!!

GruffaloSoldier · 30/04/2010 20:04

Evening all!

18th July is good for me

Star - hope you are feeling better soon!

Tink - hope your stuff sells!next stuff sounds lovely.

GY - hello there!hope your work is calming down a bit ??!

Diege - oh yes do bring dds would be lovely to meet them!and hooray for DD3 being ok now you must be so relieved.

Cant - can you please send me some deep cleaning vibes my way as I dont think there is another home in the UK more in need than mine!

Ses - congrats on new job!

NJ - not long now

hello to any lurkers!

Had a very tiring day! GC up at 9am again so was a mad dash to monkey music for 10am, was a little bit late

GC been an absolute grump all day I think its his teeth but he is def not right, snotty and a bit dribbly. Didnt eat much tonight Anyway I was very relieved DH came home early! I had had enough by then!

Also had an afternoon nap when GC did this afternoon!I couldn't keep my eyes open I had 9 hours sleep last night FFS!

Diege · 30/04/2010 20:52

Hi GRUFF! THat does sound a tiring day..and dare I say the need for a nap may be pregnancy-related? .
Washing machine seems to be on the blink - NOT funny in a family of 6! I used to do the circuit boards on Hotpoint ones when I was a student and know they're all programmed to 'die' at some point, so fingers crossed it's not Mr. Bosch's time

cantmummyhaveabreak · 30/04/2010 20:58

Evening, gruff- you can have my cleaning OCD... It's driving me mad! I always have to be doing something cleaning-wise, and when I'm not I'm thinking about what needs doing!!!

Ended up clearing out the kitchen cupboards! Scrubbing them down inside and out. Then washed every item from inside them too to make sure they're clean! I wouldn't mind but my kitchen must be the worst in all the country- I have a used kitchen dotted about the half painted room, with my appliances thrown in amongst them, and oddments of worktop covering where it can (kitchen is bottom of our 'to do list) but I've spent the best part of 5 hours clearing and cleaning it today! Crazy!

Tomorrow it's my bedroom that needs cleaning from top to bottom. Sorted out all under the bed but the rest of the room has been left a mess with what I cleared out, but DC's are off so it'll be between entertaining them and getting DD2 a nap I think!

Diege- good news on dd's tummy being better!

Tink- eBay is good, but only really for something that can be delivered. Collection only itemsaren't big sellers in my experience.

Right off to bed to watch a film (or fall asleep, but don't think DH knows my plan! Haha!)

essenceofSES · 30/04/2010 21:27

Hello all!

Thanks for job congrats! I knew there was going to be a restructure but thought it was a few months off!
Can't wait to get stuck into the new role but it doesn't start until the beginning of June!

Meet up - 18th July sounds good to me! I'm tempted to try and make the Manchester one as well but may not be practical and not convinced about taking DS on underground and long train journey!

Gruff - symptoms sound good Also sounds like GC has more teeth pushing their way around and through! Hope he doesn't suffer too much.

Cant - wow! Great cleaning! I could do with some of that OCD too!

Diege - hope Mr Bosch keeps going a bit longer. Glad appointment went well and occassional McD's is good I'm sure. We were never allowed them when I was little so when I flew the nest I frequented McDs far too much

Star - sorry you're ill. Sending get well vibes.

Hello everyone else!

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 06:03

Hello.

Ses, that is brilliant news about your new job. Yay!!!

I've just had the night from hell. Both boys woke at about 1am and just wouldn't go back to sleep. DS2 ended up in my bed and DS1 eventually went
back to sleep. They are at their dads tonight where they will probably sleep fine!!
DS2 does look so cute asleep though.

I think I might be able to make the meet up if it's on the 18th July. We're going to my dads for a week and it's only about an hour and a half on the train.

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 06:35

Ooooh while the boys are still sleeping I can tell you about Tony!! He is my best friend and I love him to bits. It's actually really funny because he is gay and everyone knows this but it doesn't stop people telling XH that we've been out again.
Every woman needs a gay best friend. We spend most of the night man watching when we go out and very rarely disagree on men. I don't know what I would have done without him these past 6 weeks. He always knows how to cheer me up again.
