..Ive bought my secret stork gift..going to pop it in the post next week

Hobnobfanatic · 25/03/2010 10:43

Myfirstbump - I love your dream story. I've had half a dozen birthing dreams now - and baby has been a girl each time. Before my sexing scan, I'd had four dreams she was a girl, and the scan confirmed it, so I'll be interested to see if you have a boy!

Kateyjane - what a good idea about using Baby Annabel as a stunt baby while practising sling-tying! I shall nab one of DD's dollies!

Itshappenedagain - as long as he stays out of your LO's life for good, then you'll both be fine. When XP left when my first DD was a baby, I gave him the choice: either in her life or out of it; no in then out, then in and then disappearing for months or years before re-emerging. Kids need support and consistency. Luckily, apart from a couple of wobbles, he's been in her life all the way. Wish he was more financially supportive, though!

LuckyC - this weekend I'm determined to get my bag packed, and an emergency bag for DD. Nursery and the rest of the shopping: hoping to complete by end of Easter hols...

Hope everyone is okay. Everything is soooo much effort now - so uncomfortable, with no energy, when there is just so, so much to do! I wish I could just lay an egg, have it hatch in a cosy incubator somewhere for nine months, and get prepared in the meantime!

AnAngelWithin · 25/03/2010 11:10

oh gosh...lots more posts to read!!!

hope you are all well. I am starting to get myself in a right state really. Have posted a thread in childbirth, im so scared of going to hospital

DD is playing up now, I will be back to post individually in a bit sorry, x

pigleychez · 25/03/2010 11:28

Happened- Hope you find your glasses.
Glad your pram is ordered but shame to hear that LO's dad doesnt want to be involved. But I do agree with others that its prob best that way rather than confusing/upsetting her.

ML- Hope the infusion goes ok and you do feel better after it.

Cupcake- I am on liquid iron as I have real trouble taking tablets (ongoing thing from childhood). Its not the tastiest but the constipation thing doesnt seem too bad so far. One thing I have noticed though, TMI ALERT!! Its made my stools a nice black colour!

MDM- Ive heard quite a few mad comments about M+P customer service im afraid. Glad you enjoyed your day off.

Kateyjane- Sympathes on the bug.. Horrid isnt it. I still had plenty of laundry to sort out!

Wibblea- Thanks for the advice on avoiding the bug. My little bottle of Detol hand gel is firmly glued to my side!

Little owl- Hope the BP stablises. Funnily enough with all my high readings at the beginning of the pg mines been fine lately.. better than ever.. Very odd!

firstbump- my thats a big baby! Glad its only a dream!!

Well DD managed to keep some milk down last night. AFter an unsettled start had a surprising but very welcome full night. So far breakfast seems to be staying put too so fingers crossed shes improving. Still pretty sleepy and just chilling out on the sofa with cbebbies.
DH came home for an hour earlier this morning so I could still make my MW appointment without dragging her out with me.

Glad to report alls well. Again high sugar in my sample, so will have to do the GTT again in 2 weeks. MW was when feeling my bump, said she could feel everything! She could make out feet and hands and was chasing them round my tummy. Its was quite funny She was quite put out that DD wasnt with me as she thinks shes great and loves DD chatting with her.

We were talking about the Hen weekend im going on tomorrow and she has said its "MW's orders that I go and relax" So there... Its official.

Really looking forward to it actually. The cottage we are renting looks lovely, right by a little stream. The other girls are going horse riding whilst i scoff in the tearooms, then Sunday we all off to the health spa.. Cant wait!

We are waiting for the new patio table and chairs to be delivered this afternoon, so its more washing, housework and packing my weekend bag (must remember my notes!!)

May even have another go at baking a cake for the hen weekend as the one I made last night was as flat as a pancake!- Im no Nigella!!

littleowls · 25/03/2010 12:17

Lots of people talking about braxton hicks, I really don't know what they feel like but I'm pretty sure I haven't had any.

Pagen - glad you're feeling better and that being off work has done you good. Enjoy your cloud painting!

MFB - I feel uncomfy too, especially when sitting on the sofa. I am on Omeprazole tablets for heartburn, but its more reflux when I'm moving about or lying down. They have worked wonders and I can sleep and function much better now without that rushing acidic feeling in my throat.

Wibblela -Happy brithday for yesterday! Good advice on avoiding bugs.

Kateyjane - That sounds quite scary actually! I don't really kow much about anaemia etc. Hope you're feeling better.

itshappened - glad you got your pram sorted. Like someone else said its his loss.

ML - hope your iron infusion goes well tomorrow and that you do feel like a new woman afterwards!

Luckyc - LOL at natal hypnotherpay cd baby! The baby's head is huge now I taken a closer look. I'd never really taken any notice of the cover!

Pigley - Glad you are going to be pampered, enjoy every moment of it! Cake making sounds tempting too, not that I'm any good at it - I might make a cake today that's sure to bring my BP down.

TCH - Yes they've put me on methyldopa, I feel very woozy and tired. I've also noticed that I have had a couple of memory blanks! (is this just baby brain?) How long did they take to start working and bringing BP down?

Hope everyone else is having a good day. I'm back at the DAU tomorrow to see if these tablets are working, hopefully they'll let me out and I can go to my leaving do in the evening! I can't miss a curry.

myfirstbump · 25/03/2010 12:26

Oh yes, the other thing I forgot to add is that in my dream I was giving birth THIS WEEK!!!

To the 12lb monster child!

In my dream I was confused about whether he would have to stay in the neonatal unit, when he was so huuuuge! Well, surely he wouldn't have fit in the incubator...

It was so vivid. Weird. Boy dreams have definitely caught up - think it was 3-1 to the girls at one point.

Owls - thanks for the tip on heartburn tablets. I'll ask the midwife about them, and see if the doc will give me a presciption without an apt while I'm there.

ForcesSweetheart · 25/03/2010 13:52

LuckyC and littleowls lol at the big headed baby. They're scary but I think it bodes well for their brain-power! DD was only 7lb 6oz, round about 50th centile for weight, but her head circumference was around 99th centile! It got stuck and they couldn't even fit the forceps around it so they had to push her back in and take her out the sun-roof! She still has a big head at just turned 4 but she's actually proud of it, and tells people it's coz she's got such massive brains, which I'm inclined to agree with - she can already add and subtract in her head [overly proud mummy emoticon]

Have left a message for MW to call me back as I think I need to get my iron tested again. It was low at 28wks so I started taking my 2 a day ferrous gluconate again. Didn't seem to help so about 2 weeks ago I increased to 4 a day, but today am still getting breathless and lightheaded so hoping they'll retest now (34+2) and perhaps give me an infusion.

SPD is sorest it's been so far today. Can barely manage baby steps. Really worried I'm gonna end up spending this next 4 weeks unable to go anywhere, being stuck in the house with DD all morning drives us both nuts so we tend to go to toddler groups etc.

brightredballoon · 25/03/2010 14:41

Piglez how about making burnt candy instead? so easy to do and always goes down a treat whereever I take it. Just mix 100g sugar with 3 tablespoons of golden syrup, heat unti melted then turn up the heat watching it until it starts to bubble and turn alot darker, usually about 5mins then take off heat and add a heaped teaspoon of bicarb then pour onto a tray lined with baking parchment, once cool break up into pieces and dip in melted chocolate then place on more baking parchment until chocolate has hardened.

Lucky sympathise with you on the back to back baby, I am trying all the things I know but I just think my babies favour the back to back/back against my right side as I have never felt baby turn round. Spose with me having an elective its obv not as important but as DS was cut twice narrowly missing his eye I would prefer the baby to be in the correct position so if that happens again it would avoid the face.

Really sorry for SK and Forces and anyone else suffering from SPD, sounds really awful to be in the pain like that.

Myfirstbump funny you mention 12lb babies, my friend had a 12lber last year!

We should be getting our new car tomorrow, hopefully it will all be ok as my confidence was knocked when it had a fault whilst they were doing the pre collection check (2nd hand car).

I am really starting to feel fat and tired, I have had such little will power this pregnancy and know I will have a huge amount to lose once baby is here. I wont rush into it but I am keen to get back into shape by Christmas.

littleowls · 25/03/2010 16:24

Forces - How cute of your DD! I am a little concerned about my LO having a big head (just for when its on its way out!) as on charts its head seems a lot bigger than both its abdomen and femur length. It does mean big brains though!

MFB - congratualtions on the big new arrival , forgot to say about the scary dream before! I haven't had any crazy dreams YET, but your dream child sounds delightful!

BRB - I know what you mean about feeling fat and tired. When LO's are here we'll all have to get back into shape together! Hope you get your new car too.

Its amazing when you're just sitting all day how much easier it is to keep up with the thread.

Im not pleased

Phoned DAU for FBC results..short tempered midwife informed me she was busy today and didnt have time to chase blood results...I insisted however and she phoned back to say HB was now 9..registrar on call said just increase the iron tablets to 3 a day as I was only 34 weeks and had plenty of time to get my iron stores up...informed MW I DID NOT have plenty of time as was being induced in no later than 4 weeks..but registrar insisted and said I wasnt anaemic enough for an iron infusion..despite my consultant saying that below 10..was pretty anaemic...Im so exhausted and breathless..I dont even know how Im going to find the energy to drive up to the hospital tomorrow for my CTG

LolaAnn · 25/03/2010 17:54

memorylapse you poor thing! what is wrong with docs/MWs etc... you think they would just give you the infusion!!

Not much to report here gaining weight like its going out of fashion and starting to feel like a fat cow

SquirtsMum · 25/03/2010 17:56

WOW!! I miss a few days and we're 4pages into a new thread Fingers crossed this one lasts the distance!

ML - grrrr

BrightRedBallon - Am making some chocolate rice crispy nests for easter at MiL's for the nephews and nieces but will try some of the burnt candy on the grow ups

Wibblela - Happy Birthday for yesterday

4 days off work now and making the most of it - sitting on the sofa, a cuppa nxt to me, watching awful TV - in my defense i was awake at 3.30am and have had a sweep and mop of the kitchen/lounge, done all the washing and made a lasagne for tea tonight
Still have another 2 weeks at work but something tells me i won't make it - i'm physically exhausted all the time, just getting up off the sofa is a killer (DP has to help me every time now with a very annoying smirk on his face ) and trying to turn over in bed has become impossible. Want to kill everyone who says that you need all the sleep possible before Squirt arrives, i know, i could sleep for Britain if i didn't have a octopus rearranging my insides!!
MiL still hasn't got her head round me bf'ing and has bought us about 15 bottles!! We smiled sweetly and thanked her for them and put them in the cupboard labelled 'Stuff/Useless Tat'

xxxx

cupcakefairy · 25/03/2010 19:13

Thanks for the advice re iron all it's ferrous sulphate they've given me. MW said my iron level was v low but she was surprised I didn't 'look' anaemic will wait with baited breath as to what will happen to my stools but hoping lots of water will help with avoiding constipation (just means I'm going to the loo every 20 mins!)

Baby is now head down so that's good news

Gils · 25/03/2010 19:13

Hobnob - thanks for tip about DD bag, you know I have everything sorted for myslef in a bag but never thought of getting something sorted for her.

ML - sorry to hear the reactions of midwifes. I understand we can all have bad days but sometime think there are people who are just not suited to that type of role

Piglez - glad your DD is feeling better

Happenedagain - Your ex sounds like someone you'd be glad to be out of your life. Hope he is there to provie the financial support you both deserve

Sympathies to all those suffering bugs. Really hope we can all stay away from it here

Wibblela - happy birthday!

Really sorry but so many posts I am struggling to keep up, can't remembr who passed driving test but well done. Hats of to all those taking DC swimming. I struggled on holiday.

Well my temp started on Monday and glad she seems to be picking up the work. Last time I was pregnant the girl they brought in to cover had to be sacked (on my last day!) because she was rubbish. Only prob with this woman is we work in a quiet accounts office and we are all struggling with her chatting and volume.

So uncomfortable now. At lunch today felt like baby was ready just to pop out, felt so low. Seeing midwife on Thursday and looking forward to it, been weeks since saw anyone.

DH back to work on Saturday and dreading it. Still on hunt for a roll of this wallpaper we have in hall so don't need to get someone in to redecorate but I'm not holding out much hope, can't even remember who made it.

Friday tomorrow! Woo hoo

Hollyoaks · 25/03/2010 19:23

Hi all

I've been busy at work for a few days and nearly 90 posts!!!!

I've read all of the posts but now can't remember who said what. However, well done luckyc for passing your driving test, hope the housemoves and new buggies are going well. Hope the poorly lo's are feeling better and tired mams are getting plenty of rest. I hope the spd sufferers are getting some relief and the anaemic are feeling more energetic. I hope those starting ml soon are getting excited, hospital bags are being organised, new cars are performing well, dh's/dp's/dc are behaving themselves, bps are lowering and more sleep is being had by all.

Sorry for no personals (except luckyc) but the babybrain of the 1st trimester is well and truely back.

Iron tablets are making me feel awful, was up last night for an hour feeling incredibly nauseous and having loads of bh's again! However, settled this morning so went into work. DH working late so just me and dd who decided to have a drink of my diet coke and unfortunately loved it , so fingers crossed she goes to bed on time tonight.

ML - hope OBEM wasn't too much for you, it brought back a lot of the emotions after we lost my nephew and then niece was born prematurely. Thankfully shes now a chunky 12lb and the little girl from the show was fine too.

Hope everyone is well, looking forward to secret stork just need to go out and find the perfect present now.

memorylapse · 25/03/2010 20:06

Hollyoaks..thanks...I lost my last baby 5 years ago.when she was born prematurely at 23 weeks due to an untreated kidney infection..she was born alive but the hospital policy was not to treat babies under 24 weeks.a very painful time...we have moved on..but obviously you never forget

sweetkitty · 25/03/2010 20:46

Evening all just having a cup of tea, some biscuits and a couple of cocodamol, very painful tonight.

I think I may be buying a pram off a Mum at nursery, P&T Vibe, doubles seat, cocoon, sleeping bag, panniers the works for a great price. Still getting to grips with driving the bus but getting in and out of it is so hard, doing up seat belt never mind driving, there's not much choice though DD1 needs to go to school. Sorry am moaning again

hollyoaks - hope the iron kicks in soon and you feel better

cupcake - plenty of water and fresh fruit

Squirtsmum - am with you on the exhaustion front, I have been shattered all day, I put DD3 to bed, DD2 on cbeebies website and fell aasleep on the sofa this afternoon, am going to bed early tonight. Just smile sweetly and take the bottles, both my Mum and MIL were a bit about BFing to start with especially my Mum as no one else in our family had ever BF

memorylapse - saw your other thread as well, ddid you give the Spatone enough time to work, I think you could try 3 sachets a day if your levels are that low and eat lots of iron rich food as well. Sounds like they are all giving you the runaround and you are getting nowhere. Cannot imagine losing a LO that far on, no wonder you are so stressed about this one, she will soon be out though hang on in there

littleowls/FS - DD2 has a big head too she was 9lbs 3ozs born and had a 99th centile head too, I didn't even have a graze after she was born so it wasn't really a problem. She still has a big head now bigger than her elder sisters.

FS - it is rubbish isn't it? Bloody SPD it just ruins the pregnancy. DP has said that after his weeks hol at Easter he is going to take a days holiday each week until I am due so he is only doing 3 day weeks to try and help out a bit. I have to take DD1 to school and DD2 to nursery so think if I am out anyway might as well go to toddlers I agree though I just want to stay in just now.

pigley - at your weekend away hope you get well pampered. Hope DD is feeling better now

LuckyC - sometimes they turn at the last minute, DD2 did that in fact she didn't even engage or drop or anything until 5 mins before she was born, might have been her big head!

Right am off good nights to all of us

OP posts:
pamelat · 25/03/2010 20:47

Hello all, gosh, a lot to catch up. I can't remember who has said what, so sorry for not personally replying.

ML - so sorry for your loss. I watched OBEM and sobbed for the hour, must have been awful for you, sorry.

My DH shed a tear too, and thats us just watching a progamme on the TV.

Makes me realise how fortunate most of us are, in our current situations at least.

pamelat · 25/03/2010 20:49

Just to say that my braxton hicks are really becoming quite uncomfortable. When they happen it feels like the early stage of labour and I cant sit down.

I googled it and everything suggests that this can be normal.

Am seeing midwife at 34 weeks next Weds so will check with her.

We are away this weekend with 20 other people! DD will be the only child so will see how that goes . The plans for Sunday are a 9 mile walk in the hills?! Not sure I am up to that.

Hollyoaks · 25/03/2010 20:58

ML - so sorry for you, your family and your dd . Although I didn't lose one of my dc he was as close as another child can be and its devastating but as you said you learn to live with it.

Pamelat - I find when I get really strong bh's I can't sit comfortably either. Weirdly the worst ones send a shooting pain up though my back between my shoulder blades and make my neck go stiff . They happened with dd too so not too concerned, she only arrived 2 days early but the labour still took 14 hours despite all the 'practise'. Good luck with the walk, I'm definitely not of that.

Big heads - dd had a very large head too, unfortunately inherited from her daddy, but it was her shoulder which caused the tear, so don't think it matters how big it is, think of all the brains

memorylapse · 25/03/2010 21:16

SK..that was my time on here as Spacecadet..hence the namechange..I felt people just assc my old name with sadness..

I did try the spatone for weeks..but it didnt kick in for me

Pamelat..my BH are very powerful too, they stop me in my tracks.... at 9 mile walk...I couldnt do a 1 mile walk right now

Ah I don't think I will actually complete the 9 mile walk , I reckon 4 or so will be enough. I haven't walked more than a mile since becoming pregnant and the BH's worry me enough to not go too far from civilisation.

I just find it mildly amusing that a 9 mile walk is on the cards, especially with a 2 year old who wont sit still for more than 20 minutes in a buggy

Apologies for the lack of personals but am a wee bit wrapped up in my own head right now. I think I've just had a very close call. This afternoon I phoned community midwife team to ask if they could leave a form at my dr's for me to get my iron tested as I've been feeling very breathless and tired. Midwife I spoke to lives locally so said she'd drop the form round the house. Ten minutes later she was at the door with it but when she saw how breathless I was just talking to her she asked if she could give me a quick check over. She wasn't happy about my breathing, lethargy or heart rate so she phoned DAU and asked me to go get checked out just to be on safe side - she was very apologetic for putting me to such trouble but said she'd just rather not take any chances. When I got there they tested blood and HB was up ruling out that. They then did ecg and arterial blood gas test to rule out a clot, which it did - however it showed I was hyperventilating. This led them to test my blood PH, and from this they discovered I have Lactic Acidosis. It turns out this is an exceptionally rare side effect of the metformin I'm on for my diabetes and is fatal in 50% of cases. A New Zealand medical website reports that of the 12 reported cases since 1977, 8 were fatal! Thankfully it looks like they caught it early so stopping the metformin will hopefully be enough to resolve it, but I've emailed my diabetic consultant to see what I need to do now as stopping it will probably send my blood sugar thru the roof. I'm going to try and find out what surgery that midwife works out of and take her a thank you card and some chocs or something. If she hadn't gone out of her way like that I dread to think what would have happened. I don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight!

Bloody hell Forces well done the MW too. I bet you are more than a little shocked now.

ML - yes I remember you as spacecadet, your DD and my DD1 are the same age and I think your little angel would have been the same age thereabouts as DD2. I do remember you going through it too

There seems to be so many of us suffering from SPD, diabetes, aches/pains, low iron etc right now too.
