pamelat · 23/03/2010 20:14

Thanks for new thread SK doesnt take me so long to scroll down to post!

Is everyone having lots of baxton hicks? I feel like have had them every hour or two for a week, and dont remember them being this intense last time?

Does anyone know whether all this "practise" will mean that actual labour will be a doddle?!

Had to go to a 5 hour meeting today, yawn yawn yawn. Somehow I managed to not get up to wee before the rest breaks, am sure I will not be up all night needing to wee.

OBEM tonight, can't wait.

33 weeks today.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 23/03/2010 20:22

Pamelat - I've been having lots of Braxton Hicks, feeling them quite intensely. I didn't really feel them with DD (just felt a tightening, not actual pain) so they keep freaking me out a little!

Forces - it is nice having family nearby although still haven't been out for ages! That's just us being lazy though. Your DD sounds v.sweet. Mine is being extra cuddly atm but I am finding it so hard to keep up with her.

Den - I noticed you were in Inverness after I posted. I'm sure it won't be a problem at all as long as I don't do any ill-advised hill climbing. My midwife was getting a little bit worried about the whole thing though.

Gils - sorry you're feeling rubbish, hope you have a better day tomorrow

schipo · 23/03/2010 20:23

Hello all

Lovely new thread Just want to say hello really - haven't had time to catch up fully - v busy moving into new house, finally. Resisted temptation so far to start any painting although it's been quite hard not to start stripping strange textured wallpaper off ceilings. Luckily as we're unpacking the annoying legacy decor is getting less noticeable.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Very much looking forward to catching OBEM for first time in three weeks.

sweetkitty · 23/03/2010 21:01

Glad you all love the new thread.

Well car is here it is lovely but so different to drive, I went out for a practice this evening will see how I get on tomorrow. Have decided being 34 weeks pregnant with SPD is not the best time to get a new car. Also had architect here this morning as well, the drawings look really good but a lot of work. I just feel completely overwhelmed with things just now there seems to be so much going on.

schipo - glad your move went well and hope your getting settled in

Heffa - I was the same no BHs with DD1 loads with DD2 they are quite scary and at times you think "is this it?" A good tip is have lie down if they stop it's just BHs

brightred - I have an anterior placenta as well don't know how it will affect the labour.

forces - hope you get some droplets soon we have no family close by either so no babysitting you kind of get used to it after a while though.

Marquise - I love the Sola as well I thought that you wouldn't need a separate carrycot, if I were to get a single I think that would be the one.

Right must dash OBEM is on now better get the hankies ready.

OP posts:
brightredballoon · 23/03/2010 21:05

SK I wondered if having an anterior placenta (mine is below my belly button) might hinder the baby coming out or squash the baby a bit? I have MW apt tomorrow so will ask her.

Anyone who had a CSection before - did you buy the mesh pants? I have seen a couple of recommendations for them but haven't used them myself. Will buy some if they are worth it.

mollybob · 23/03/2010 21:46

Soooo much has happened on here since I was last around so can't even begin to respond but have read everything.

I'm ok - 31 weeks and 2 weeks since I vomited Have finally bonded with baby and am getting excited. Have developed GD but am controlling it with diet and not effecting things at all. 3 weeks til I finish main job. Getting by, basically.

DH still not well but we're all looking forward to a good summer of family time which will be good for him. DCs looking forward to Easter holidays from school. Love to all of you and promise to keep in touch better from here on.

memorylapse · 23/03/2010 22:02

lovely to see you back mollybob..was wondering if you were ok

I feel a bit weepy after watching OBEM..the 23 weeker struck a poignant chord with me

mustbemadno3 · 23/03/2010 22:19

ML Hope you feel better soon

Sweetkitty glad you got your car and you like it

pagen you gotta help me out here. Went back to gp yesterday who sent me to mau, high temp, high bp, protein in water (from uti i assume) but seems ok now. Anyway they did swabs again, took bloods as apparently had high white bcc since Jan. Get results in few days. They changed my antibiotics to flucloxicin and gave me a pessary. Dr said I have severe case of thrush and im 90% sure he said i had streptococcus, i asked what that was and he said its a skin infection we all carry but if you produce too much then its an infection? Is this the same thing as strep b? Also do i need to do anything even if these antibiotics work? Im
I would ask my mw but listen to this one... horror, went to surgery saw receptionist yesterday to ask for appointment she at first said sorry fully booked call tommorow. So I asked for mw number and she said 'sorry we are not allowed to give it out' i said 'oh why not'
'she gets too many timewasters'
Forgive me for thinking mw were supposed to be a first point of call and timewasters or not surely thats her bloody job? Ive never actually rang her before so she couldnt have meant me!!

mustbemadno3 · 23/03/2010 22:22

oh sorry meant to say great new thread. How much dos everyone chat, cant keep up! sorry about smileys, dont know what happend there!

KatnKankles · 23/03/2010 23:36

Hi, I'm more a lurker than a poster but pleased to see I'm still on the list.

Pleased too that I'm not the only one feeling like crap Not sure if it's because this is my 4th baby or because I'm 6 years older than the last time I did it but I'm so fed up. I've now got PILES to add to me woes

I got the luna pushchair as a friend got it for me cheap but now I see the sola and I really really want it. DH says no

xx

Carikube · 24/03/2010 08:31

I'm with everyone else having problems with current LOs.... Just as I thought I was getting over the cold I've had for over 2 weeks so actually getting back to normal, I ended up bringing up my lunch yesterday and then feeling terrible for the rest of the day. Add to this, the dentist gave me an injection yesterday afternoon so he could replace the dodgy filling that had been giving me toothache, but the injection just hurt but didn't actually seem to stop the pain of the drill. So yesterday I was feeling very sorry for myself.

SO... DD decides to wake up at 4am this morning and not settle back so I am even more knackered today than I was before. DH had to go in to work early today and won't be home til late so I could really do with DD having a good day but given the amount of tears we've already had this morning I'm not sure it's going to happen....

Yorky · 24/03/2010 08:34

To those who were asking about the secret stork posting date my initial idea was a fortnight after finding out who you're buying for, but have now realised that makes it Easter weekend! Any preferences for when?

rachelfruitloop · 24/03/2010 09:14

Carikube my sympathies, it sounds like you're having a horrible time! It's days like today when you really need a friend or relative to take the LO off your hands for a bit! (Anyone you can call on?) The dental problems along with the cold are just too much! I can relate, I was suffering like that around Christmas and it was horrible.

Yorky I don't really have a preference for when the posting date on the secret stork is, perhaps by Saturday 10 April would be reasonable as the weekend before is Easter weekend?

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/03/2010 09:25

SK - thanks for the tip about the BH! That's very useful I keep worrying that I'm not going to recognise labour since I was induced last time and it was all a bit different.

Mollybob - yay for not being sick and bonding with the LO

Mustbemad - at not being able to contact your MW, that's terrible.

KatnKankles - sorry you're feeling rubbish Piles sound awful.

Carikube - sympathies, sounds like you're having an awful time! My DD was also up at 4am, and DH had to go work early and will be back late I'm working today as well so she won't even get a nap and I won't get that break Hope you have a good day and a good rest this evening.

Yorky - Rachel's suggestion of by 10 April sounds good to me. I'm getting home after Easter weekend so can post things that week (hopefully).

pigleychez · 24/03/2010 09:40

Morning all,

DD woke this morning and had been sick during the night/morning and rolled all around her bed in it which is delightful! Stripped her bed and Pjs and she came into our bed where she was promptly sick again! All bathed and hair washed but shes still being sick
Shes sitting on a blanket on the sofa surrounded by towels watching Cbeebies. The house stinks and I have piles of stinky bedding and clothes to do. Its only jusy 9.30 too.
Oh well, at quite sunny at the mo and meant to be warm so at least I can open the windows without freezing and get the washing out on the line.

OBEM- So sad last night. How tiny was that 23 week baby!

Kat- about the piles

Carikube- your feeling so poorly

Secret stork- 10th sounds good to me.

Hope everyone else is feeling better/ok today. Sounds like everyones struggling abit at the mo!
Im just hoping to god I dont catch whatever DD has as Im meant to be going away on a Hen weekend at the health spa on friday for the weekend! Dont want to miss out on that!

TomlinTowers · 24/03/2010 09:53

Hi All

Are we sure this thread will last til first birth - page 2 already!!!

Mollybob- glad to see you back, I was wondering if you were OK.

SK - useful tip about the BH. I didn't have any with DS1 and was induced so was wondering if I would be able to tell the difference. I imagine that I will, but just another one of those things that plays on your mind at 2am...!

Thanks to all those who are also getting sharp stabbing pains in cervix - set my mind at rest.

Had my leaving do from work last night, which was lovely. Went out for a meal at Gourmet Burger (delish and lots of red meat which I love at the moment) and then drinks. Drank so much orange juice am now totally fed up of it! One week to go til I finish and am working at home today to clear the last lot of files, then will have Thurs, Tues and Wed to clear the backlog of filing and other jobs on my to do list, and then that's it! The "Mum" part of me is thinking "hurrah!" but the control freak side of me is getting really worried that I'll leave something really important not done - odds on that I'll be ringing or emailing my secretary on the first Thursday off with a huge list of things to do that I won't have remembered until Wednesday night! Ah well - no-one's indispensable I guess!

Sympathies to everyone who is feeling rubbish. I have my next MW appt on Monday and really looking forward to finding out which way up LO is - last time they were transverse.

Also, my DSis has just announced she is pg with her first, due Nov 16th. So excited!! Question on her behalf though - she is gluten intolerant, not coeliac though just intolerant, so eats a wheat free diet. When she went to MW on Monday for booking appt, MW didn't know whether this would affect pg, whether she needed any supplements etc - tbh, MW was useless, didn't even know the name of out surgery (!!) - so does anyone have any experience of pg on a wheat free diet please?

Have a good day everyone -really must go and start my work.....

AnAngelWithin · 24/03/2010 10:37

morning ladies. Wet and miserable day here Just waddled back from the doctors. Have got an infected bartholins gland 'down there' Had it on and off for a while. Had the infection spread to my groin a few weeks ago which was really painful, and this morning I felt it all starting again so I managed to get in to see the GP first thing. Shes given me antibiotics anyway, and said that she will recommend me have an operation on it (cut and drain it then pin it back on itself...EEK!!!) after the babys been born

Tomlin no I bet we will out-natter the births!!

Pigley hope your dd is better soon and you don't catch it.

Hi katnkankles. hope you are keeping well, i can sympathise, i felt worse with my 4th than any of the others. You just can't get the rest can you?? So WHY i am on number 5 is beyond me some days! lol

Mustbemad, for you. Hope you are ok x

Carikube, hope your day pans out ok bless you

ML hope you are ok now after watching OBEM. You know where I am if you need me x

SK happy driving!!!

Heffa I didn't have BH with any of my other 4!! Making up for it this time!!! Every time I get up from a chair or anything I get them!!

Schipo, hope the unpacking is going well and you aren't overdoing it!!!

LuckyC · 24/03/2010 11:12

Pagen wow this Strep B thing is really worrying me now. My midwife had suggested that I should not be tested for it as she says you get massive doses of ABs which might be for nothing, biut reading your experiences makes me think that I should?

I passed my driving test! Had to get up at 6 and drive to Banbury to do test at 8 but MASSIVE relief as will now not be chained to village when baby comes.

Memory goodness it's all action with you in this pregnancy, never a dull moment. So pleased all looks OK though.

angel yes, me too on the bizarre pains. In PAddignton station last nigt actuallt shrieked and clutched bump and you could see panicky man looking at me thinking I was about to have baby.

Yay secret stork!

I have not had any BH yet - normal? Freaky?

Sympathies to all feeling rough with DCs to look after. Your medals are in the post, seriously, don;t know how you do it.

Back to work, trying to be indispensable.

Hi cejay8. How are you? Welcome to the thread!

Cejay8 · 24/03/2010 12:26

Thanks!

I'm really well - just feel like I've got lots to sort out now and time is racing by. Have joined the forum as starting to get lots of little questions!

So far all going well with bump, still got about 5 weeks left at work... Getting a bit annoyed at the 'oh, isn't your bump small' comments though!

Cejay

Hobnobfanatic · 24/03/2010 12:34

LuckyC - congrats on the driving test! It'll be soooo handy when LuckyJnr is born!

MustbeMad - that is appalling that you can't speak to your mw! I'd definitely complain to all and sundry about that. I'm blessed with the loveliest village GP surgery and mws ever - nothing is too much hassle. Just speaking to someone can remove so much stress and set your mind at rest. I'd yell and yell until someone listened to me, if I were you.

BRB - I have an anterior placenta too - and would be v interested in what your mw says.

Pigley - hope your LO is ok. Nothing worse than a bed full of vomit... I can deal with poo., but vomit makes me retch!

Angel - sorry to hear about the infection.

Cejay - welcome!

Wept and wept at OBEM last night. I really am too hormonal for that programme! Last one next week - I'll really miss it when it's gone.

MW appt was fine today. Baby is engaged - '4/5 palp' it says on my notes. Presumably, baby is only 1/5 down then? Explains all the hip and pubic-bone pain of late. She asked if my first baby had been early, which is panicking me a bit! I really do have to get my hospital bag organised - not to mention the baby's stuff. I need another nine months to get organised! Arghghghghhghggh

Cejay8 welcome to the thread

Pigley hope DD is getting better and that there isn't too much more washing to get though

LuckyC Massive congratulations on passing your driving test! I can remember how excited I was when I (finally) got through mine so I hope you're going to celebrate properly tonight! Also I didn't have any BH with DD (I actually thought that I was getting some but it turned out that they were genuine contractions ) and I haven't had any this time round yet either.

And but I think I have a dodgy dentist as after being assaulted with the injection and then the pain of the drill yesterday I still seem to have toothache today so his explanation of just needing to replace a dodgy filling (which he put in only 6 months ago!!) sounds not quite right to me. I'm clinging to the hope that I just need a couple of days for this new filling to 'settle in' and then the pain will go but I have a feeling I'm just being overly optimistic...

Took DD swimming this morning as she loves it but I think we can safely say that I am now officially starting to struggle so I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to take her for. It's at times like these I keep thinking it might have been better to wait until she was a bit older and more capable before having another one as it would make my life so much easier if she could walk/help get herself dressed etc etc. Oh well, bit late now I suppose!!

PS this talk of BH has made me realise that it was exactly this time last year that I went in to labour...how quickly the time goes!!
