Tomlin - I keep getting those sharp cervix pains too, I think it's probably just LO kicking or something.

SK - hope you enjoy the new car!

MDM - sounds sensible about the TENS machine. If nothing else, it might give your DH something to do. DH enjoyed 'looking after' mine I think.

I keep having BH now, much stronger than they were with DD. Off on holiday on Friday, so hoping it all goes well. It's a 12 hour drive which I'm not looking forward to, although it is spread over 2 days so might be OK (we normally do it in one day but decided it wasn't sensible with DD and pregnant me).

Btw, can any Scottish people tell me whether midwife-led units are the same thing up there that they are in England? I was looking up the hospitals near to where we are staying in Scotland and there's an MLU, a GP led unit and the nearest consultant unit is in Inverness which is quite a way but I wasn't sure if those mean the same things they mean here. I know it's v.v.v.v.v.unlikely but want to be prepared just in case.

My PIL have decided to sell their business and buy a house about 5 mins drive from us. I'm hoping the house works out, it'll be nice to have them nearby although we haven't always got on.

im awaiting the arrival of wardrobes today, and im hoping to get loads done, including moving the last of Ds's things out of the old ones and putting the last of the baby's stuff in them.
ended up in hospital yeasterday as the midwife thought i had had a show, but luckly everything is still firmly in place, but ive also been having lots of braxton hicks and backache, am really hoping that im not the first to go.
I find out next week what day exam is and then as soon as i have done that i have told baby she can arrive, keeping my fingers firmly crossed that its one of the first ones!
TCH- hope your parents get the house, and i wouldnt worry about what has happened in the past regarding not getting on, as a close friend didnt speak to hers for nearly 3 years and then her DD was born and all was forgotten and they totally dote on her.

SK thanks for the new thread - it's quite scary to think that babies are going to start arriving on this one as DH are still in a bit of a state of denial about the fact we're having another one! It's DD's 1st birthday this week so maybe once we've had that we'll start focusing more on the next one...

DD loved nursery yesterday and didn't cry at all (didn't even seem remotely bothered about me not being around ). I'm glad she was so happy there but I found that I really missed her which is pathetic really but I'm so not used to having a day without her!

Just marking my place as haven't had time to catch up for a few days now. Baby tucked up very tight making it difficult for mw to assess their position but she thinks its head down right on my bladder! Iron stores are very low so feel pretty rubbish but mw said I can up my iron tablets as and when so hopefully should be feeling better in a few weeks. Roll on easter hols

DD is Peppa Pig mad and DH came home with a playhouse/castle that he had seen whilst at the shops during lunch. HUGE HUGE hit! 6.30 this morning you could hear "Peppa House" repeatedly coming from her room. She was desperate to go downstairs to play with it. Hopefully that will keep her busy for a while and I can get to flop on the sofa

pigley - DD3 is mad on Peppa as well, luckily we have quite a lot of Peppa things for her already from her sisters, her favourite is Waybaloo though, she goes mad when it comes on really excited and starts dancing, she and DD2 do all the "yogo" poses. Good morning all!
Brand new thread, lovely - thanks SK!

I spoke to my cousin yesterday who is a senior sister at Great ormond street, I told her all about the Strepb testing palava. She thinks I should have finished the course of antibiotics but agreed that treatment during pregnancy is probably pointless as i will still need to be tested and treated with IVA during the labour. She was pretty p*ssed at how I had to really push to get the original testing done and that my GP wouldn't do it, if I hadn't pushed for the thrush test i never would have found out I had strep and be prepared for the birth. She says complications from Strep in newborns is rare but not good when it does happen and isn't caught early enough.
She also believes all pregnant women should be tested for strep as matter of course but says that they don't offer it because of the expense. She recommended that I push all you mums-to-be to ask your GP to test you.
She also told me that it definately takes longer than a couple of heartbeats for the IVA to get into the system and cross the placenta to babs but that if you don't get on the IV atleast a couple of hours before the birth then they should keep you and babs in for about 48hrs to monitor babs and if he/she shows any symptoms then they will give antibiotics direct.
Luckily for me she is planning to come for the birth and will be whipping my midwife if I don't get everything she thinks I need - I pity the nursing staff at my hospital already! LOL

Anyway, sorry no time for personal comments today...I'm trying to finish this and watch the final to America's Next Top Model...oooh, the tenseness

By the way, Alice in Wonderland was great and I actually managed to watch it all without one toilet break!!! yes, I do know how to live life on the edge! LOL

Carikube - happy 1st birthday to your LO (or, as my DD said recently: Happy Oneth Birthday!). I don't know how you manage with a baby and being pg. I'm exhausted looking after a very sensible 6yo!

I'm only getting a couple of hours a night - I get hip pain and then baby kicks; then it's another loo visit... I'm so, so tired!

I ordered my sling finally - the Sa-be one (thanks for the recommendations!). I'll report back when it's arrived and I've tried it!

Still sorting out baby's room... I just feel that we'll never be ready. I guess you never are!

.yes I have a hind water leak..but scan shows baby has plenty of fluid, CTG was reassuring so in vgiew of the fact that im in clinic again tomorrow..they are not worried..they think I might be leaking and re sealing but said as bubs is engaged and Im 34 weeks, plus had steroids..they are not overly concernedconfused..been asked to monitor her movements and my temp..Im wondering when I will get an induction date...
came home yesterday and had the sickness bug so am still in bed recovering at the mo and chasing up non paying clients!

Itshappenedagain - hopefully PIL will get the house, I'd like to have them close. We get on a lot better now than we used to (ever since DD was born) but used to be hellish. Since things are pretty good now, I'm hoping it will be good having them nearby but always a bit worried that they will kick off about something at some point. They dote on DD so that's nice My parents live very close as well and it's fantastic.

I was very worried last night, very bad stabbing pains 'inside' at one point my legs were buckling and i dropped and smashed a mug

Seems better today but i have been rendered useless to the sofa by DH who is keeping a beady eye on me in case i am tempted to go and pick up the paintbrush and start on the bathroom!!!

Can't remember who asked but not sure about midwife lead units in Scotland as the hospital I gave birth in wasn't. Still find the differences in hospitals confusing and annoying.

Having shocking day today. I am so so so so tired and just feel really down. Just can't seem to get going. Baby hasn't stopped today and DD is driving me round bend. Have lovely plans to get house spotless today before going back to work but its worse than ever. DH has lost his old IPhone which he was gonna sell to give him last of his golf membership money. He has lost it and has been pulling things out all over the place lookin forward to it. Was under the stairs in cupboard which is covered by thin wood and wall paper and has fallen through it. Great! Has ripped the wallpaper and torn wood of and I have no spare wall paper to fix. Hope I don't have to redecorate the whole hall now. Arghhh

Hardly uttered a word to anyone today just so fed up. Hate feeling like this.

AnAngel and others with children already, I can relate to the trials! I have had quite a time with my DS lately. A real defiant streak coming to the fore, combined with being ultra clingy with me and very mean to DH. I suppose this must be normal, he's pretty clued up for a 2.9 year old and I think he must know what's coming.

I have caught DS's cold, so feel miserable today. But on the bright side, he'll be going to pre-school 3 afternoons a week next term instead of just 2 so I'll be able to get a bit more rest in a couple of weeks!

Pagen I mentioned thrush/UTI to my consultant last week as the possible cause of the protein showing up in my urine the last couple of times it's been checked and she said I should treat it as thrush and then if protein shows up again they'd do further testing. I will bear in mind your advice and not let them pass it off as problem solved!

Heffa I hope you have a great trip! I'm sure everything will be fine but always good to have a plan! I bet it will be good overall to have the parents living nearby. I know about the aggravations if they're too close, but I am really really missing having family nearby. I had to ask for Saturday off work as DH has to work and our babysitter can't look after DS (though we're going to have a nice lunch with a friend in London instead of me going to work! Hooray!) Would be so nice to have a relative around to help in that situation, someone, anyone!

Hobnobfanatic I am with you on the hip pain/incessant kicking/loo visit cycle of very little sleep! My DS has decided to make it interesting by waking up screaming the past few nights at about 2:30 and then waking in the morning an hour earlier than normal. I hope British Summer Time sorts the waking time out! Would love to hear how you get on with the Sa-be sling!

MDM a green Sola would be lovely!!! I have some good news, managed to get a Quinny Buzz from eBay for £82, it's the reflective red colour and has a little bit of wear and tear but still in great condition! DH went to pick it up today before his late shift, can't wait to see it! Now just have to decide whether or not to get the carry cot (I see a couple of matching ones on eBay!) Oh, and to answer your question from before, my hospital is about a 30 min drive away. Quite different for me as I had DS at Chelsea & Westminster and lived in Putney at the time, so the options abounded with buses, taxis, ambulances, etc. but I have several friends who have offered to drive me when the time comes, day or night, so I'm trying not to worry about it too much! Easier said than done! Also, I hired a TENS machine from MamaTENS when I had my DS and I found it really good for the first few hours, and like others are saying, a good distraction at the very least.

Pigley Peppa Pig is a neighbourhood favorite here as well, my DS would be in heaven with that castle/house set, one of his friends has it and I have trouble tearing him away from it!

Looking forward to watching OBEM tonight! DH got 0-3 month clothes down from the loft for me yesterday so will wash these and spend my time as I watch folding them and probably crying my eyes out!

Re buggys - sorry for on-going saga - has anyone any experience of mothercare's mychoice range - 3 or 4 wheeler? The girl did a very good demo and carry cot converts into buggy so don't need the two separate units like the sola but would really like feedback from those with experience of one??...

Den - no idea about the Mothercare ones, but you don't really need to get the separate carrycot bit with the Sola (at this rate, I will soon talk myself into switching to it!) - the normal seat bit lies completely flat so can be used from birth, and folds in one piece with the seat unit on. It's quite cosy with the liner on, as the sides sort of curve up when it's in flat mode. The carrycot bit is optional. Although my DS got the carrycot bit too because her PILs were paying, so she figured she might as well, but we're not bothering with the separate carrycot bit for our urbo which is essentially the same (if it ever comes into stock ). Have to say that haven't been that impressed with the Mamas & Papas customer service. Love their products though!

Den - I was in MC at the weekend showing my Nan the BSmart. The assistant lady said her daughter got the My3 before the britax one launched and that it was very good, but if it came to choosing now, she would go for the Bsmart.

MDM I totally agree about m&P. I couldn't get anything useful out of them at all.

carikube at your leaky boobs lol, I spent half an hour expressing yesterday afternoon trying to get something to put in the little syringes the hospital have given me to freeze colostrum in, I got one droplet from each side, not even enough to fill the little tip of the syringe! I reckon they were being overly optimistic giving me tubs to catch it in before syringing it, I'll be lucky if I get enough to syringe straight off the nipple.

ML at your waters. Glad all went OK at the DAU (that always makes me think of Criminal Minds/BAU - kept hoping Garcia or Morgan would stroll through the door when I was there - how sad am I? I really need to get a life away from the TV)

brightred the IFA at Salisbury said there's a "theoretical risk" of nipple stimulation bringing on labour but she's yet to meet anyone it's happened to in all her years of midwifery, and if it was that likely no-one would ever go overdue, the consultants would just get them expressing! She did say if I started to feel anything stronger than simple BHs then I should stop, but she didn't expect I would. No matter how long I hand express for I can't get a drop, using the manual pump only just gets a droplet after about 20-30 minutes - not enough to trickle into the pump so no worries about losing it in there. MW reckons even if I can store it in one ml lots that'll be enough to top up mollys blood sugar but so far not even near that.

angelwithin , pamelat and rachel I'm totally with you on struggling to deal with other LO. DD is driving me nuts. I get a break Mon-Thurs afternoons as she's at nursery 1-5 but the mornings are doing me in. I'm so tired, sore and grumpy all the time. This morning she gave me a real guilt trip. I had fobbed her off to go and play on her computer, on the cbeebies website. She went onto the Carrie & David's Popshop bit and got it to play a song called "I've lost my smile", she came over to me while it was playing and said "you've lost your smile haven't you Mummy?" Talk about making me feel bad! I told her a sure way to help me find it was give me a big cuddle then I plastered a smile on my face. I really need to try not to let her see how much I'm struggling with all this. I'd hate for her to resent Molly for making mummy so grumpy.

Got my pram down from Glasgow now and I love it! My nana won't tell me how much she paid for it (in a charity shop) but it looks brand new. It's a gorgeous milky coffee coloured Silver Cross carrycot style pram. Can't wait to get baba in it.

Heffa very of you having family close by. We have no-one for hundreds of miles and I hate it. I'm desperate for DH to get out of the army in 2 yrs so we can move back to Glasgow where all my family live within a 2 mile radius! Can't remember the last night out DH and I had as we just don't have anyone to call on for babysitting.

Thanks for the new thread SK

Had a scan today to check placenta and it is anterior but not low, I think they wanted to check to ensure when doing the elective cs that they know if it is where they will be making the incision. I was hoping the baby would be in a good position which would sway me into a VBAC but alas the baby is lying exactly how DD and DS were I am still on for my elective, wont get the date until two weeks time.

Den sorry no experience of that pushchair but try not to worry too much. If it suits your needs then go for it as I have found some people love an item and others loathe it so go with your instinct

Pagen my MW also wants everyone tested for Group Strep, in some countries they do already. It took 20 mins for my ABs to be fully administered throught he drip in my labour and had to have them every 4 hours.

Was supposed to pick up our new car today but it has a fault so wont be until next week now, am finding it hard being without a car and having to walk a mile each way to town with the kids. Have given up my gym habit as finding the walking hard enough!
