Carikube - I so envy you, having two so close together. YOu'll find it harder at the beginning, but within a couple of years you'll reap the rewards of a small age-gap.

With my DD, there will be a 6.5 year gap - she'll be a great help at the beginning, but days out will be a nightmare, as the kids will be at completely different stages, with diff interests, abilities etc. They won't be playmates, as such - but yours will. If I could have conceived on demand, I'd definitely have ordered a smaller age gap!

pigleychez · 24/03/2010 13:16

Tomlin- glad you had a nice leaving do last night

Yay for your Dsis Not really any advice.. Tell her come on MN to ask

Angel- hope the gland improves.

Luckyc- on the driving test- Well done. Just dont do what I did.... Drive the family to the pub for celebratory drinks, then realise you cant drink as your driving!- DOH!

Welcome aboard Cejay! We are happy to answer any questions we can

Carikube- your tooth still hurts.
I know what you mean about swimming. DD's swimming lessons are getting harder and harder each week. All the other mums just jump out the side of pool when we practice the jumping in with the kids, I have to haul myself up the steps each time!

Hobnob- thats what i think too.. There will be 21mths between the two and although tough at first, will be worth it. My friend has the same gap and now are best friends and into the same kinda things.

Well DD didnt keep any breakfast down and the glass of water she had came straight back too Lunch she only managed a tiny bit of banana which is sooooo unlike her as she loves her food! Im currently waiting for that too! Shes gone off to sleep but ive dug out the monitor so I can hear if shes sick during her sleep.
Poor little thing!
Washing machine has been on overdrive. Typically its clouded over and is now raining so cant hang anything out. The house is looking like a chinese laundry at the mo with bed sheets hanging over every possible door!

Yorky · 24/03/2010 13:29

Right - DD is asleep (wish I was) and DS is vegging in front of DVD so I can have 2mins online!

Thanks to everyone who was supportive about me having a 3rd HB, unfortunately yesterdays MW wasn't too enthusiastic about it. She doesn't see a problem with retained products (so ner to Dr on Thursday) but wouldn't hear me when I said that no matter the result of the GBS swab at 36 wks I would chose, as I did with DD, not to have the IVABx during labour so there is no point going to hospital. Bit frustrating.

Pagen - for what its worth I agree with your MW - I was warned by a MW last time that it is a massive dose of ABx for a tiny baby, and they can't tell when it is necessary. Said a LOT to me that they expect you to react badly to the ABx so won't administer them at home, you have to be in hospital I think that testing everyone for GBS would cause more stress than it would solve tbh

Welcome cejay8, I know what you mean about the questions get more as the time gets closer

ML, hope Lo carries on being OK despite the hindwater leak. At least you got it checked and can now be monitored.

Congratulations on passing your driving test LuckyC

Glad your daughter settled so well at nursery carikube, we found DD went in fine the first couple of weeks and then realised I would be leaving her and got upset - it wasn't till last week that she crawled in by herself, so I got emotional about that instead of feeling guilty about leaving her! Hormones! She started in January but only 1 morning a week and I know she settles quickly and happily once the parting is done as I loiter in the corridor then peek back and she's always happy and busy within 5 or less mins

Pigley - hope DD is better soon. Hate sick, and the way the smell lingers to make everyone else feel yucky

Tomlin one of the ladies on my Nov antenatal thread with DD was coeliac/wheat free and if I remember right she tolerated wheat a lot better when pregnant. I'll try and find her for you, or post in allergies. her name is Lackadaisycal

MBM that is and

And DD is awake again, once more into the breach dear friends, once more...

sweetkitty · 24/03/2010 13:36

pigley - I do hope your DD is better soon

carikube - I am a big fan of short age gaps, yes it is hard to begin with but in some ways it is easier as they are both interested in the same things at the same time. I have 18 months between DD1 and 2, 2 1/2 years between DD2 and 3 and will have about 21 months between DD3 and DS. I prefer the 18 month gap and going back I would have had them even closer. DD1 and 2 are in the most part really close and more like twins, DD2 has been pulled along by DD1 and has never let her do anything she cannot do. Developmentally she has always been streets ahead of her sister at her age and I think it is in part to being a second born.

Am in awe of you and pigley still doing swimming lessons.

On the BHs front I wouldn't worry if you aren't having any I had none with DD1 not even a twinge and she was born in 4 hours at 37+5 weeks, speaking of which I am 34 weeks today so have started taking the raspberry leaf tablets. 6 huge capsules a day yuck makes for erm interesting burps!

Cejay - hello and welcome, a word of warning once you join MN you can never leave it's an addiction

Hobnob - do not be too worried about going early, my first was 4 weeks earlier than my second, these babies know nothing of their Due Date or when any of their siblings have been born. They are a law unto themselves when they decide to appear.

Angel - ouch I have heard those cysts are very nasty, not what you need on already tender tender bits.

Kat - get some ointment for the piles ouch as well

LuckyC - congratulations on passing your driving test

mustbemadno3 - what a nightmare I would phone up again and demand to speak to the MW, I do remember mine gave me her number last time as she said I was sensible, she once had someone phone her up in the evening asking what size cot sheets they should get!

ForcesSweetheart · 24/03/2010 13:45

pamelat hobnob and any others hooked on OBEM, have you come across Baby Days on Discovery Home and Health. I think it's on every day, I have it on series link and it keeps me going between OBEM's!

BRB didn't use mesh pants after my CS, sorry can't help.

SK Congrats on the new bus. I'm finding ours quite hard to climb up into with the SPD as it's so much higher than our old car, are you?

mollybob so glad to hear you're feeling better about the whole baby bonding thing.

mustbemad at the receptionist not giving MWs number and her comments! Our community midwives have a system where if it's non-urgent you ring the DAU and leave a message for them which they return at the end of the day.

katnkankles I was getting nowhere with Prep H for the piles but GP gave me anusol HC Suppositories and they've helped a fair bit, may be worth trying to get hold of some of them.

pigley Sorry your poor DDs not any better - here's hoping the sleep will do her good. at u going to a health spa weekend!!

LuckyC HUGE congrats on passing your test!! It makes such a difference. I couldn't drive when DD was a baby and it was horrid, especially when DH went to Iraq. For first 3 months of his tour I was pretty much housebound, passed my test while he was home mid-tour on R&R and the 2nd half of the tour seemed a breeze in comparison as I had my freedom.

Hiya cejay welcome aboard.

carikube I'm with hobnob on the age gap thing. Think you're definitely going to be glad of small gap in years to come. Mine will have a little over 4 years between them and won't really be playmates. If I could I would have had 2yr or less between them, but c'est la vie.

Last time I saw the community midwife she said she didn't think there was much point me keeping having appts with them as I was being seen by the hospital fortnightly. Usually you'd still have the community appts to build up a relationship with the midwife you'd be seeing at home after the birth but mine's been off sick all of my pregnancy so have seen a different stand-in each time. However, when I was at the hospital on Monday they said I need to have one more appt with community MW to do my birth plan etc. I rang to arrange this and the MW I spoke to said they call it the Home Liaison Visit and that they don't have a space for one til 19th April - 3 days before I deliver! She said they're expecting my named MW to be back from sick leave next week and that should open more spaces so she'll get her to call me to arrange next week. Fingers crossed she does actually come back off the sick! I've already done a very detailed birth plan anyway (happy to share with anyone else having a CS who might find it useful), but no doubt the MWs will tell me there's things on it I just can't have the way I want them coz of theatre rules etc so it'll need to be revised.

Right, DD's at nursery now, DH picking her up at 5 so I can now crash on the sofa and do nothing for a few hours, bliss!!! I'll just conveniently ignore what a bomb site the house is

sweetkitty · 24/03/2010 13:47

Forces - it's agony getting in and out, I think I need a stepladder.

OP posts:
TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/03/2010 13:54

Pigley - hope your DD feels better soon

LuckyC - congratulations!! That's fantastic, v.impressed at you passing during pregnancy!

Cejay8 - welcome to the thread

Carikube - I think the smaller gap will be worth it in the end. There'll be 21/22months between my two and I'm hoping they'll be able to play that. Although there's a 12 year gap between me and my sister and we're very close too

cupcakefairy · 24/03/2010 13:58

Afternoon all...
Just to quickly say Tomlin my bf is about 8 weeks pregnant and on a wheat-free diet for intolerance...she has been told by her doc it's fine to continue and she is taking supplements/vitamins etc.

Lucky congrats on the test! Great news

I have now been told I'm anaemic, sigh. Have to take iron tablets. Baby is already keeping me up at night too...from 5am this morning could not sleep as lo was just somersaulting round and round...I felt sick! Had to get up eventually and walking around a bit seemed to settle it! This is just the beginning right...!!

itshappenedagain · 24/03/2010 16:14

hello all!

no personals, as ive just skim read all the posts...essential as i cant find my glasses and am having to wear lenses at the moment until they are found.

sorry to hear that some of you are still suffering, you would think that there would be more they can do with SPD and GD by now. and also to all those whos LOs are playing up...fingers crossed DS has been fantastic, long may it last.

well after the extremely long wait for LO's dad to arrive, he came to see me this morning and has ordered the pram! yeah! for anyone wanting the bugaboo bee, johnlewis have them over £150 cheaper at the moment due to getting rid of stock of the old kind( as in not bee plus) but the one i wanted was the limited edition which they dont do in the plus anyway so im sooooo happy. he also said he will be back at the weekend, to give me money to get the car seat and all the accessories i need. but then to go against that he said he doesnt want to know anything about the baby but wants to remain friends and he hopes that i find someone else soon. i want expecting miracles and after all he has put me through i really shouldnt have expected more. one the bright side thought DD will not miss what she hasnt had.
anyway sorry for the rant ladies, i just feel a bit up in the air.

mustbemadno3 · 24/03/2010 16:41

itshappenedagain he sounds a right plonker! I bet he changes his mine when baby arrives, do you think you will tell him its too late or would you allow him in his/her life? At least you got a nice pushchiar!!!

angel that sounds awful hope you feel better on antibiotics and operation is done when you are ready.

Cejay hope you have plenty of time on your hands to keep up on this thread, everybody talks soo much! I find it hard to keep track! welcome anyway.

Tomlin glad you had nice meal out, i was hoping for a leaving do, but dosnt look like i will get one now!! Im off on sick and next week got 2 weeks off for easter with kids. oh well dont feel up for it anyway!

Thank you for all your comments re my mw. I have appointment next week so i will kick ass!
Took my ds2 for btest this morning, normally has it done at hospital but the dr said they could do it there now....how I wish I hadnt. The nurse did a right bodge job, poor little boy his arms swollen and bruised and he really cried after it was done. He never crys after them only occasionally beforehand. I think hes had about 20 altogether and thats the first time hes cried. Couldnt send him school as he said 'its my right hand i wont be able to write'!

memorylapse · 24/03/2010 17:10

just back from hospital and wiped out..consultant took one look at me and booked me in for an iron infusion on friday..lovely..although she informs me I will feel like a new woman afterwards.
Baby still big..BMs still out of range..CTG, friday(before infusion), Monday, Weds, clinic and growth scan weds again.tempted to book a room at the hospital and be done with it!!.Consultant making noises about induction at 37 weeks.
My itching is something called PUPPS..which although distressing, is not harmful to baby
had loads of BH whilst on the monitor..DH looked alarmed until the midwife pointed out to him the difference between BH and "real" contractions on a CTG print out

Angel..thanks..DH and I felt sad watching OBEM..but you have to move on I guess the bartholins cyst sounds v unpleasant..heres hoping the AB's clear it up

Luckyc..congrats on passing your driving test..especially with a bump! Im impressed

mustbemad..how incredibly bizarre that your GPs wont give out the MW number..what do they mean timewasters??

SK..am of your new car..and impressed that you cab drive it as Im now struggling to drive my VW polo

itshappenedagain..good news about exp coming up with the funds..but for you that he doesnt want to be involved..he may well change his mind though when your LO is born..but if he doesnt, he does still need to understand that he will have to support the baby...a lot of absent dads seem to think that if they dont have contact..they dont have to pay...my eldest two had a crap dad who walked out when DS1 was just a 7 week bean, he never wanted to know. however I met DH when DS was 2 and he has been the best dad ever to him and DS (now 16) says he has no desire to ever meet his natural father..

Katnkankles(love the namechange!!) sorry to hear you are feeling crap..I have piles too and they are no laughing matter..what helps is ice cubes wrapped in an old flannel"down there"..it helps to shrivel them up a bit without the need for steroid creams

Pigley..sympathies..we have all had that bug and its vile..hope your DD is better soon and that it passes you by.

Yorky..I intend to get my secret stork sent off straight away as have a lot going on in the next few weeks inc DS1's 16th birthday so will buy and post while I remember

Carikube..eek..4am wake up call..thats not nice..you must be shattered especially if feeling poorly..hope you can get an early night

Tomlin..glad you enjoyed your leaving do..and congrats to your Dsis..no advice to give re gluten intolerence but dont see why she cannot continue her usual gluten free diet, but maybe take some pregnacare vits

Pagen..you definitely still need to be swabbed for strep b again at about 35-37 weeks as it can come and go...I have ordered a strep b testing kit...
Cejay8..a very warm welcome to you

sweetkitty · 24/03/2010 17:48

itshappenedagain - glad you got your pram sorted, the Bee is very nice. I just don't get men who don't want to take an interest in their DCs lives . Can I be rude and ask if he is your DDs Dad as well? Just wondered if he was the same with her then changed his mind. I do hope even if he doesn't have contact he still pays for them, I get so with men who do not pay a decent amount to their DC (including some family members in that as well).

ML - you are so not having it easy are you, still 37 weeks is only 3 weeks away which is very scary in a way. BUt at least once she is out you should rest a bit easier.

Am struggling a bit with driving the step up and with the SPD as coming off the accelerator onto the brake is painful on my right leg plus having to keep your foot flexed hurts too but it is better than walking I suppose and I am only on essential journies now.

mustbemad - aww your poor DS

cupcake - just watch with the iron tablets you don't get constipated, there are two kinds Ferrous sulphate and Ferrous erm it has completely gone will have a dig around later but one is better for not making you constipated. I am still taking a Spatone every day as well as my mutlivit to try and ward it off.

OP posts:
ForcesSweetheart · 24/03/2010 18:58

Ferrous Gluconate is the other iron tablet, that's what I take and altho it does constipate a bit it's not as bad on me as the sulphate.

itshappened what a shame he's going to miss out on so much. His loss hun! I'd make sure I took him for everything. Glad you got your pram and are getting your carseat but I hope he doesn't think his responsibility ends there, he needs to help feed and clothe and keep a roof over the kids head for the future. I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted though, you sound like you've got your head screwed on right.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 24/03/2010 21:20

3 pages in two days!!!!!! We have been busy!

Welcome Cejay8 Den - I was in mothercare today so checked out the mychoice buggy that you mentioned - it looks really good, and I would definitely be tempted by it if I didn't need something more lightweight for using with public transport.

Rachel - fantastic news about finding your Quinny Buzz on e-bay, you must be so pleased. I think you must live quite near my DSis - she's due on 8 May, it would be funny if you ended up in the same hospital at the same time!

Brightred and SK- I have anterior placenta too (notes say 'anterior high'), have never really asked whether it has any implications for the labour, would be interested to hear what your midwife says. I'm not seeing mine again until 14 April, but have the GP next week, so might ask her.

Pigley, sounds like you had an awful morning, I don't envy you at all. Dealing with sick is one of the things I'm dreading most of all, even the thought of it makes me retch. Hope your DD's feeling better and things have calmed down a bit this evening.

Tomlin your last day at work has come round so quickly! It seems so recently that you were dreading your remaining weeks with heavy files to carry around. Am slightly envious, as I still have four weeks to go after the end of this one (although at least two of those are only four-day weeks fortunately!).

Angel sympathies for you with your infected gland, it sounds very painful. I hope they can do something to help you.

LuckyC many congratulations on passing your driving test, fantastic news!

happenedagain - brilliant news about your pram, even if it did have a bit of a cloud attached to it with your LO's dad.

ML your description of all your appointments made my head spin, I can't begin to imagine what a pain it must be to have to traipse backwards and forwards to the hospital / midwife all the time, especially with low iron levels. I really hope the iron infusion on Friday does the trick.

I've had a rare day off today! NCT breastfeeding class this morning, then I pottered off to oxford st and got some bits and pieces for my hospital bag. Several bargain packs of granny pants from primark and some black pj bottoms for £4 a pair!

Made the mistake of going back into Mamas and Papas and looking at our pushchair again, and tortured myself about whether I should have chosen the sola after all. Although deep down I know it is too wide to fit past the radiator our hallway, so I know it would wind me up having to fold it down every time I want to get it in and out of the house, and it is heavier than the urbo that we went for. I did find out that the liners and footmuffs are interchangeable between the urbo and sola though, so I might just get the green sola liner/footmuff and use it with our urbo (if/when it eventually arrives!).

I'm really looking forward to the clocks changing this weekend. It's my favourite time of year, because that's when it starts to feel like spring is properly underway, although it seems a bit late this year, probably due to the cold winter we've had. Will have to start getting some plants for the garden.

kateyjane · 24/03/2010 21:49

Hi everyone

Well so much for me managing to keep up this week Thank you for the new thread SK, can't believe how much is on it already!

Well I think I've had a similar week to everyone else so far, two of my DC's have had the horrid sickness bug - so like Pigley our house has been a chinese laundry. Fingers crossed that we are over the worst!
Had my iron infusion on Sunday which went okay, apart from the fact that I can't lie on my back at all (It makes my lips turn blue and I can't breath, end up sweating and fainting unless I sit up straight away) - despite telling them this they thought they'd just try it for fetal monitoring, so now have to see a cardiac consultant I explained about a million times that this only happens when flat on my back, don't have any other symptoms etc - I'm sure that it is just the position of the baby. Am totally fed up of going to the hospital - although I realise that I don't have it anywhere near as bad as some of you.

ML - I'd like to say that an iron infusion makes you feel like a new woman, but although it definately helps it is not that magical, it doesn't even get my levels to the 11.5 they should be Think the highest they've got is 10.5 and I've had 9 infusions over the last 5 years. Having said that I really hope it does help. I really feel for you, don't know how you are managing at the moment.

Itshappened -glad you are getting your pram, but at his lack of interest. Hope you have loads of other support.

Luckyc - congratulations on passing your driving test

Hobnob - I hope you like your sa-be sling. I've been practicing with mine with Baby Annabel I'm really happy with it, but can't imagine putting a wriggly newborn in it yet!

Angel - poor you, that sounds awful. Hope they manage to get it sorted for you afterwards, though I'm sure that's not much comfort right now.

Pigley - Hope your DD is on the mend.

Yorky - Posting by the 10th is great for me.

SK - Hope you are managing to take it easy. Very impressed that you are managing to drive at all, I'm like some sort of space cowboy after taking all my tablets

Sorry for anyone I have missed.

When I was in hospital on Sunday they put me in one of the single labour rooms. It was a bit like hearing a full episode of OBEM all around me. Heard two babies be born, which made me really emotional - there really is no other sound like that first newborn cry. It also helped me to put everything into perspective which was good. (Was very glad when the lady on the other side of the wall to me had her epidural though )

take care everyone

wibblela · 24/03/2010 22:08

Hiya everyone I echo MDM comment - 65 comments in such a short time - chatterboxes anonymous are us

I went to the hospital yesterday for another growth scan, at which point that the estimated weight of the baby currently is 2.3kg and LO has a slightly larger than normal abdomen. So, even though my GTT was very normal, I am back to monitoring my blood sugars 6 times a day - what fun! They've all been within the normal range - think that Wibblet will just be a big bundle (c:

My BP was also raised yesterday - probably had something to do with the fact that I hadn't had much sleep the night before and I had been doing a little bit of shopping beforehand. So I had to go to the Day Unit today for them to test it several times again. All of which were normal - lower than when I first got pregnant. I saw the doc afterwards and he said that as I am in the third trimester he wanted my BP checked every week - thankfully the MW will come to me I am glad they are checking, I would be concerned if they weren't, however, I think they are concerned over nothing.

It's been my birthday today, and DH has been so lovely to me I have a lovely new watch, and we went for a really nice meal this evening The restaurant found out it was my birthday and surprised me by putting a sparkler in my dessert I am such a child!

I have been at the amount of sickness that I have been reading that you guys have been suffering - sounds like the Norovirus that DH and I suffered recently - the actual D&V lasted for only 24 hours but knocked us sideways for days. I spoke to a MW lecturer whilst I was suffering and she gave the following advice:-
1 - hand hygiene is really important - make sure hands are washed properly so as not to pass virus on and wash hand towels frequently just in case.
2 - wash all towels and sheets on high temperature, to kill any of the virus that may be there.
3 - Disinfect commonly used handles and banisters
The virus is very viriulent and easily passed on. It also mutates quickly so you can get it again as the immunity you have won't last very long. NHS advice is that you should be clear of symptoms for at 48 hours before you have contact with others. I felt like putting crime scene over our front door with a big quarantine notice! I do not want anyone to go through it - it is so nasty, consequently I can completely empathise with all of you who are suffering. Thankfully fetus will be fine, the only thing that might distress him/her is the sound of Mum vomitting.

Hope some of that helps but you guys are so knowledgeable anyway that it is all probably known to you already

wibblela · 24/03/2010 22:12

Sorry kateyjane x-posted with you

I had thought that I would be in Halifax Hospital before you, but turns out that you'll be there first!

littleowls · 24/03/2010 22:13

Hello new thread!

I've had a quick read of everyone's posts on the old thread, but then I discovered another 3 pages on this here thread! Very impressive.

I need to go to sleep soon so just dropping by really. Just got back from an overnight stay in hospital where BP has been sky rocketing up to an impressive 170/110, and it wouldn't come down. So they've now given me these pills which are making me so tired. Got out today after a relax SO yesterday morning was my last day at work! I now have to relax and do nothing, which is good but I feel like I've abandoned my little class without so much as a goodbye! I'll have to pop in on friday. I feel ok generally so I feel like a bit of a phoney! But MIL and DPs have been round with soup and food for an army also they have done a bit of cleaning and sorting out for me, which is nice.

Sorry for waffling and just talking about me.

I hope that everyone with poorly DD and DSs aare managing ok and those with GD, SPD and other complaints are too. If you are one of the lucky ones with no problems whatsoever then well done! x

Off to bed now to make sure the headache doesn't come back. I promise to respond more personally tommorow. Goodnight all

kateyjane...I have the same problem as you..cannot lie on my back..go clammy, breathless etc..and everytime I have a CTG.they get all concerned when I say im getting breathless..grrr..

wibbela..happy birthday

kateyjane · 24/03/2010 23:15

Hi Wibblela - Maybe we will bump into each other one day? They have a nice costa coffee shop at Calderdale Royal Hope you've had a great birthday!

ML - Sorry you are having that too. Did they say what they think causes it? First I thought it was anaemia, although my iron levels haven't been that low, for me and I've never had that symptom before - had lots of breathlessness, feeling faint etc in the past with anaemia, but it has been constant, not just when lying down. I really think it must be the position of the baby, but they seem convinced that it's more. They had to give me oxygen, despite me telling them what might happen! I can lie on my front, kind of propped up with pillows and that feels fine. I just keep counting down those days I hope your infusion goes really well (sorry if I sounded a bit negative about its effects earlier) If nothing else it is a nice reason to have a restful 7 hours reading magazines etc.. Take care.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 25/03/2010 07:44

Itshappenedagain - glad you've got your pram sorted. It's a shame he's going to miss out on watching your LO grow up.

ML - I hope the iron infusion helps, what does it entail?

Re iron tablets: I was on ferrous sulphate last time and had the opposite problem to constipation (apparently this can happen sometime). I gave up eventually, switched to two Spatone sachets a day along with lots of orange juice, dried apricots, dark chocolate etc and iron levels did go up until the MWs were happy. Tablets are probably better if you don't find them too much of a problem though.

MDM - thanks v.much for reminding me about the clocks changing, I'd completely forgotten! I love this time of year too - all my daffodils are out in the garden making me feel very 'Springy' and I've got lots of seeds germinating so I briefly feel all earthy (until they all die ofc).

Kateyjane - I love hearing newborns cry too

Wibblela - Happy Birthday for yesterday! Sounds like a lovely meal out

LittleOwls - what BP medication are you on? I'm on Methyldopa and it does make me sooooo drowsy and tired. I fall asleep on the sofa every afternoon atm which isn't normal for me at all. It has helped my BP though which is good. Enjoy your maternity leave

memorylapse · 25/03/2010 08:08

KateyJane..with me..its usually always the position of the baby...I also have a low BP..and it drops in pregnancy..although they ignore me when I tell them that..so everytime I have my BP checked its like panic stations because they dont beleive that is normal for me(anything around 90/50 or even 80/45, is normal for me in late pregnancy)..the only thing thats worrying me about tomorrow is that theyve advised me not to drive myself in..but I have no choice.

TCH..never had an iron infusion before personally..but basically you are hooked up to a drip which pumps..IIRC..ferrutin into you which boosts your iron stores(hopefully)

Hobnobfanatic..dont panic about baby being 1/5 engaged..it means the top of baby's head has dropped down ..but theres still a lot of head that the MW can feel..it doesnt mean that you may labour early

Morning ladies!

Happy Birthday Wibblela Itshappenedagain - to echo an earlier post, sorry your xp is a plonker. Hope he does change his mind about being involved. Bit to not want to know anything at all though... Happy days about the Bee - enjoy it!

I've been so uncomofortable this week. Either the baby has moved somewhere else, or it's had a massive growth spurt - the top of my bump feels so sore, like I've been doing a million sit ups or like I'm bruised from being kicked or something. It's even sore to breathe and I can't get comfy at all. Doesn't help sitting at a desk all day and now I get why you can start ML so early! Saying that, it's still easier to get up out of my chair at work than it is to get off the sofa at home. DH has to help me up sometimes which he finds really amusing... yeah, thanks!

Seeing MW tomorrow so hopefully everything will be ok. Thinking about asking about those heartburn tablets, something beginning with R? Any ideas?

Pigley - hope your DD is feeling better today, and that the rest of you manage to steer clear of the bug

Yorky - 10th is good for me too. Am excited now, going to pop into town at the weekend to start looking for pressies!

Ooh, sorry for making this long post longer, but I had a dream I had the baby last night! Was a 11/12lb whopper of a boy with blonde hair and really long eyelashes, and none of the boys names we like suited him so he ended up being a Ben. DH was about the name this morning, so I think that's a non starter, but it was such a weird dream. That's 4-3 to boys now... still wondering if dream babies have any predictive power over the sex... Not long till I can put my theory to the test now!

Good morning all...yes, I'm back!
Its taking me about 2 hours every morning to get through my correspondance, I've gone from hardly ever using my home email, facebook and mumsnet to being a daily blogger!! LOL Still, I expect that will drop off a bit once mini-me is here!
No phone call on Monday about my results so they must have been fine and I admit I am feeling soooo much better after a week off work, antibiotics and lots of rest. The nausea seems to have gone too and I havn't had a dizzy spell since last wed (Touch wood).
Went in for my last official day at work yesterday and that was fun. I secretely cleared out everything so if I decide not to go back I havn't left anything behind that I need to go back for...I even gave away my novelty pens so this is serious! LOL
Feeling like I'm at the start of a whole new adventure today...that should last right up until I get another session of braxtons

Hate to be a nag but read a bit more about strep yesterday, apparently as much as 30% of all women are suspected to carry the Strepb virus, now i know that doesn't mean that it will be active during labour or that even if active it will pass to the newborn but still!! Its a scarily high figure and I really think testing for it in us mums-to-be should be standarised...please ladies, if you havn't ever been tested do think about pushing your GP to do it.

Anyway, nag over!

itshappenedagain - I think we are all definately on the last stretch (Such a bad pun) and it will be a close tie as to who gets there first...however, I think Forces may have this one in the bag!

Pigley - Its difficult dealing with these men and everything else isn't it! I was kinda hoping to be demi moore-esque in my pregnancy but twas not to be and its really difficult to feel like an attractive woman when you look like you've been on the beer for 10years! I look more like my boozy Uncle than a cover model for esquire mag *Sigh still, Chris has been great and keeps insisting he finds me attractive and it hasn't lessoned our love life too much, just like most forced us to be more inventive at times (Sorry if TMI). Definately more cuddling too though, a necessity!

AnAngelWithin - How are your pains now? Was it a one off or have you had to call the midwife?

Gils - What do you mean you hope "You" don't have to re-decorate, I'd chain DD to the wall until he fixed the mess he made!!

Rachel - Hope you're feeling better today? Everyone seems to be coming down with a bug recently...luckily I am no longer around people so touch wood i will stave off any more infectiosn...the last two were no fun!!

Forces - oh thats so sweet what Lola said about your smile...and how heart-wrenching at the same time! I honestly don't know how you mums-tp-be who are already mums cope! God knows I'm having difficulties enough just dealing with the pets and chris!!

Anyway, thats me done for another day..I have some clouds to pain on the nursery ceiling

carikube REALLY hope your tooth works out.

Mustbemad can't believe they won't give out the midwife's number - what's the point of THAT?

Am now trying everything to turn my back-to-back baby and try to get my head around the birth. Bought antenatal hypnosis CD thing - anyone noticed that in the picture on the front the baby's head is FREAKISHLY HUGE?

secret stork are we aiming for the 10th?

itshappened wow that sounds tough. Glad he has finally ordered pram - thank goodness. Hope you are OK and maybe if he is going to be wishy washy about stuff it is better he is not a central figure in LO's life?
