Just wanted to quickly come on and wish Forces and ML all the best for tomorrow. Will lok forward to announcements!!

I've started to really stress about DH not beig here. Feel like I am analysing every wee niggle. Continually looking for updates n where he is, not fair on him either. He will be in Manchester tonight, but can't move till 6 tomorrow.

memorylapse · 14/04/2010 22:10

A big thank you to my secret stork. Dh brought my parcel in today containing a sanctury gift set and two little hand knitted cardis for baby. For first attempts at knitting they are fab and im very touched at the personal thought. Ive popped the cardis in babys bag and will be spoiling myself with the sanctury after ive delivered
Good luck for tomorrow forces.i will be logging on to see the birth announcement.

sweetkitty · 14/04/2010 22:21

I also wanted to say good luck to memorylapse and forcessweetheart for tomorrow, you both so deserve to be cuddling your new little girls tomorrow night after hard hard pregnancies. Hope it all goes well for you ladies and will be checking the thread constantly tomorrow for news

mollybob - sorry to hear that, remember you can refuse anything and everything, get them to justify why they want to do certain things, stand up for yourself, hard I know but don't allow them to stream roller you into things you don't want.

alle - I find that if your having BHs and think it's the real thing lie down and do nothing, they usually go away, frightening though I had about 4 false labours last time, even the MW came and examined me and said she would be back later to deliver and still nothing. Little teases these babies.

Pamelat - sorry to hear about the breech and BP, try to take it easy

Too tired to type anything else am off for an early-ish night, planning a day trip tomorrow, am going to take it easy may take a paper and sit in the teashop whilst poor DP runs around after the girls.

TomlinTowers · 14/04/2010 22:23

Just logging on quickly before bed to say huge good luck for Forces and ML for tomorrow - looking forward to seeing birth announcements!

Pamelat - sometimes BP can go up just because you feel in a stressful situation. My DH has this - take his BP at home, perfectly fine, but do it at GPs it is through the roof. Did she take your BP after she had told you about the hospital appointment? Hope you manage to destress and relax.

MDM - good luck for your growth scan. IME they can be wildly wrong, and it sounds like you do a lot of exercise so if you have good stomach muscles it will be holding your bump in place (unlike mine which give my bump no support at all). One friend got told she was having 10lb+ baby on her growth scan and nearly ended up being induced on the basis of that, baby arrived perfectly safely weighing 6lb2!

Hi to everyone else and sorry to those who are having difficulties with parents/builders/faraway DHs/soreness. Am in sympathy with those is pain - the stabbing pains in my cervix are just getting unbearable, I can't sit down or walk without feeling like baby is going to fall out! MW on Monday so am hoping this all means baby is engaged otherwise don't know what is happening!

hormonalmum · 14/04/2010 22:34

Just a quick good luck to ML and Forces for tomorrow.

Also, can anyone tell me if I join the FB group does it show up to all your friends. (I am a bit of a techno phobe) I think one of my RL friends is a mn'er and I do not want her to know I am too. (Not sure why, just I like to keep my mn addiction a secret!)

Car seat - will update when dh has been round. He says he will sort it out as he knows how stressed I am getting about it.

Everyone who has been measuring small - when I had my first dc I had a gyne appointment at 30 weeks and the consultant could not believe I was so far pregnant. She worried me sick by measuring me and then ringing the mat unit to get me measured again. I was totally freaked out as I did not know what to expect.
DD was 6lb at term, so not massive but then I am not massive either.

rachelfruitloop · 14/04/2010 23:17

Evening Ladies!

I'm settling in for a long catch up post as I know if I don't it's all going to get away from me again! I also need a distraction as I saw a mouse run under the stairs in my living room today and now I'm utterly freaked out and DH is at work tonight. Dealing with mice in the house is the last thing I need!

ML and Forces I'll be thinking of you both all day tomorrow! Good luck and can't wait to hear how it all goes! ML, Olivia is a lovely name!

NewMomma That's great that yours is happening Tuesday!!! So happy for you, too!!

Hollyoaks I've had a trace of protein in my urine since 23 weeks, so 5 urine tests with protein now. I think I will be sure to highlight this to the consultant midwife I'm going to see tomorrow, even though I don't think I have any other symptoms of a UTI. When I mentioned it to her last time she said it could be thrush, but I'm not having symptoms. I'm sure it's probably fine, and I shouldn't worry. If the result is trace protein again tomorrow I'll talk to her about it again.

SK that's very about your mum, but sounds like it's for the best. Seems like every family has its difficulties. I think at any given time several of my family members aren't speaking to each other. The only thing that saved my relationship with my mum was me moving 5500 miles away, TBH! Absence makes the heart grow fonder and that. Speaking of, tomorrow is the six-year anniversary of when I moved to the UK!

Pigley what a hassle with the gas board works!!! Not the best time to be dealing with it, my sympathies to you! Schipo your story sounds like a nightmare as well! Hope you don't have to chase it up for too long!

Five I hope your tooth is feeling a bit better!

Pamelat hope you got some rest and revision done today. I don't know how you're managing to study at this stage, my brain is mush now! Sorry that LO is still breech! I hope you are relaxing tonight!

Schipo, Littleowls and Hobnob Glad I'm not the only one who has the worry creeping in about Down's, etc. I guess it's normal - I do remember worrying about DS1 as well even though I was low risk.

Gils that is truly annoying about your MIL and the babysitting! I know I got lucky with mine. I am so grateful to have such a giving MIL, I really couldn't have asked for better. I'm always telling DH he should be more thoughtful about her!

Den, Littleowls, Cupcake and MDM This may or may not be reassuring, but I think the fundus height measurement isn't a very good indication of baby size, at least in my experience. I measured spot on with DS1 for the most part through the whole pregnancy and he was close to 10 lbs. I am also measuring spot on for dates with this one, but the growth scan says 7 lbs as of last week, so we'll see! In any case, you'll get to see your babies again when you have a growth scan and that's very nice!

Hormonalmum I can't believe what a hassle you're having trying to get your carseat back. I hope you had some success today!

Littleowls how was your growth scan? I can relate to what you mean about being induced - I never had that moment of telling DH I was in labour and the rush to hospital first time as I was booked in for an induction. My waters ended up breaking spontaneously while I was waiting to be seen, so since they already had me booked in I just spent my entire labour in hospital. I'm a bit nervous about how that might go this time? Will I know when it's time to go to hospital?

Newmomma and Angel you have my sympathies. I'm so sorry you were both having a bad day! Feel free to complain all you want, I think many of us have had days like this! Angel, I'm relieved to hear you've had this clicking noise with the movements of all yours! It really is odd!

Cupcake don't worry too much about the baby poo incidents in your future, you will become quite skilled very quickly!

MyFirst I bought some oven chips today after reading about your chip butty!

BRB glad to "see" you here! Hope everything is OK. I hate it when I lose lots of typing. Seems to happen a lot lately!

MDM glad your birth plan went over well! Try not to worry too much about the major changes that are about to happen in your life, I was really dreading the unknown but now I can't imagine how empty my life would be if I wasn't a mummy! You probably won't miss some things as much as you expect because your priorities shift, and you'll get so much enjoyment from your baby.

Alle and Mollybob how nerve wracking about the scares you had!

Hobnob I also find the natal hypnotherapy cd a sure way to go to sleep, it really is great!

I'm off to bed now. Apologies again for such a long post!

SquirtsMum · 14/04/2010 23:18

Good luck to ML and Forces for tomorrow - can't believe you'll be holding your wee girlies so soon when I'm still gonna be pregnant on our due date (4th May)!!!!

Picked up the last of the baby stuff today so now feel utterly ready.. just waiting on Squirt to make the first move now

Dens I know your pain, 6'4" DP and 5'2" me seem to have made an octopus rather than a baby, hehehe

RE growth scans - had one last week as I consistantly measured over my dates but LO is fine, decent size and spot on for dates... it must be the jammy dodgers I've been -inhaling- nibbling

Mollybob I was told last week that I shouldn't be in MLU care as I too am overweight (BMI of 33) but for some reason this was not mentioned to me at my booking in appointment (24 weeks ago!!)and that I really should be seeing a consultant. After I'd come back from my growth scan the MW decided that I could stay with MLU and have my baby as planned. I think she realised when I told her I would be having a home birth if I was back home as I'm not too fond of hospitals that I wasn't going to be fobbed off to a cons this late in the day and my plans for an intervention free birth are still going ahead Stick up for yourself, don't let them do anything you don't want done, ask lots of questions ie why are they doing this, what is going to happen etc - it will be hard but worth it in the end

xxxx

pigleychez · 15/04/2010 07:27

Morning all....

Been awake for ages! DD woke at 3am all upset, wouldnt go back off and was boiling up. Eneded up in with us last night as my parents were staying overnight and didnt want her disrupting them too.
Very unsettled and very very warm bless her.
Then we were up at 6 taking my parents to the airport.

Feeling very sorry for them though as it looks like thier flight might be cancelled because of the volcanic dust. First thier flight was due to be hit by the strikes and now this! Im expecting a call to go and get them again soon. (with a very pissed off mother!)
Just checked online and thier flight is coming up with Cancelled! - Oh dear!

ML and FORCES- Thinking of you both today!!! How very very exciting!!

PAMLET- My BP was fine at home but would be high at the surgery. I think i just worked myself up each time i went expecting it to high again.

ALLE- Rest up

DEN- Yes its me and the wedding. We will be taking the car seat just in case. If anything does happen then we will have nothing to bring him/her home in as they wont let you home without one. Dont fancy sending DH to find the nearest mothercare to buy one.

MOLLY- Hope you get some answers soon.

Have the MW later this morning.. See what she says and if she wants me to have the GTT again. ( Hope not!)

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 15/04/2010 07:36

Hi all,
Just a quick one to wish Memory Lapse and Forces luck for today. You'll soon be holding your precious baby girls.
Piggley are you near me as our local airport has loads of cancelled flights due to volcanic dust. I'm halfway between Stansted & Luton. Hope your little one is feeling better soon.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/04/2010 07:38

Mollybob - I asked about using the MLU and was told that my weight wouldn't be an issue if I wanted to use it (and ours isn't even attached to the main hospital so a long drive to transfer). I can't use it for other reasons but not weight alone.

Pigley - sorry your parents' flight has been cancelled, hope they're able to get on another flight soon!

I thought everything was happening last night. I had gentlish period-type cramps on and off all night, then went to bed and it all got very painful, feeling very sick and having really strong contractions 30 seconds long and about a minute apart. It settled down eventually but I didn't really get any sleep because everything felt all tight and weird all night. Was very scary though, was having to breathe through it. Not sure what was happening but should probably pop in and see my MW today I think.

Can't believe our first babies are arriving today, that's very exciting.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 15/04/2010 07:48

A quick "GOOD LUCK" to ML and Forces. Hope everything goes well today and I look forward to hearing some happy birth announcements shortly!

pigleychez · 15/04/2010 08:00

Five- We are right near Gatwick airport. The airport is still open but quite a few flights are cancelled.

They have just called and thankfully they have been able to change to a different airline who is flying. They are only going to Jersey for a long weekend and this flight goes about 15mins later than before so they dont get to lose any time out there.
Wasnt looking forward to a very grumpy mum so alls good

rachelfruitloop · 15/04/2010 08:14

Ooh Heffa how scary! We're nearly 36 weeks now though, I suppose it isn't TOO early, but would be good if LO could hang on another couple of weeks probably! Let us know what MW says!

Pigley hope your DD feels better soon and that you can rest today!

Seriously freaked out and depressed today, hardly slept at all last night! I think this sudden mouse problem in my house is worse than just one, I heard rustling around in my closet in the bedroom last night, have no idea what mice might be after in there as we have no food upstairs! Went to have a look in DS's room where he was eating raisins yesterday and SAW a mouse run under his bookcase! I don't have the energy to completely deep clean my whole house and set traps, etc. DH doesn't seem to share my urgency, so I don't know what in the world I'm going to do. He set a couple of traps last night but from what I read online to get rid of mice you kind of have to do a big clean sweep, block any holes, as well as traps/poison of some sort. I was feeling bad anyway because I'm unable to keep on top of the housekeeping now that I'm so massive and get tired so quickly, but now I am just beside myself. I feel like I want to irrationally demand he stay home for work and sort it all out, I can't sleep in a house where there are mice creeping around!! Sorry for the rant, I just feel so helpless at the moment and it's driving me mad!

memorylapse · 15/04/2010 08:25

Well I will not be induced today or tomorrow and deffo not over the weekend. Delivery unit is gridlocked and they have had to close the ward and delivery unit to new admissions. Ho hum

Hollyoaks · 15/04/2010 08:32

ML & Forces - good luck I hope everything goes well today and your both holding your dd's by teatime.

Pamelat - I found in the last few weeks of my last pg my bp went right up, its normally low, I was monitored at the hospital three times but dd was fine and bloods came back fine. However, on the last occasion the mw said that I was having regular tightenings and would be in labour shortly. DD was born the following day. The dr told me it was medical hypertension, i.e. I was scared of medical people , not sure as it had been fine on every other occasion so I think it was a combination of the build up to labour and anxiety about the birth. Hope its down today for you.

Pigley - hope your parents flight gets away, volcanic dust!!!!! Where from? Hope your dd is ok too.

mollybob - nice to hear from you again, sorry your having a stressful time.

alle01 - take it easy today, you might not have many lazy days left

Den - I would definitely take the car seat
for the same reason as Pigley said.

Squirt - my lo is also measuring fine, one week behind in fact, so where are all the cream eggs going

SK - enjoy your day out.

Gils - hope your husband manages to make it home in time, sounds like its really worrying you. my fingers are crossed.

Hormonal - I think the fb group will show up on your friends news pages as a group you have joined. Not sure how you can prevent this.

Forces - I sympathise with your ebay disaster. I recently bought a luna carrycot to turn my pushchair into a pram but it didn't mention that the hood was missing so if outdoors the sun will be shining directly onto the baby . Might just re-ebay it and put lo directly into pushchair as it lies quite flat anyway. Good luck again

Rachel - eek mice . Hope they get dealt with quickly, we had one that chewed a hole through our carpet when we were on holiday last year

Sorry if i've missed anyone, it takes ages to catch up and my last post was only yesterday morning. Can't post at night as usually in agony and having to soak in the bath. Had to get dh to help me out last night .

Hollyoaks · 15/04/2010 08:35

ML - cross post, sorry to hear that , that's typical isn't it. Maybe that will allow you more time to sort childcare so your dh can be there.

Carikube · 15/04/2010 09:37

Good luck forces and sorry to hear of the gridlock at your labour unit memory. Hope you're not getting too bored whilst waiting around.

This thread does take a long time to catch up on, especially when DD keeps needing attention just when I'm getting in to the swing of reading everyone else's posts! I have a MW appt this pm - it will be the first time I'll have seen her since 28 wks as i had to see the GP last time as MW was too busy (36 wks now). Hope everyone else has a good day....

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/04/2010 09:44

Sorry to hear that ML, must be really frustrating

Pigley - glad your parents got a flight, must be a relief!

Rachel - the mouse problem sounds a bit of a nightmare. I don't mind mice particularly but wouldn't want them around much. No idea what you could do though We've always had cats which I hope keeps the mice away but wouldn't want to rely on it.

KaffaCakes · 15/04/2010 11:30

Oh ML! You poor thing, how very frustrating. Hopefully they can do something over the weekend so your DH can be with you while the kids don't need taking to school. Wish I was nearer to help

Good luck today Forces! And let us know if any news too Heffa.

How exciting! I've got my first ante-natal class tonight, only one of two- is this normal for NHS? I feel completely underprepared, so glad LO hasn't decided to make an early appearance.

Anyone got a strong feeling about the sex of their LO if they don't already know? I am convinced I am cooking a girl-flavoured baby here but so many people keep telling me 'boy' because my bump shape.

memorylapse · 15/04/2010 11:54

Quick post. Im m delivery just about to have my pessary!

Hollyoaks · 15/04/2010 12:09

ML - how exciting Good luck, keep us informed .

pigleychez · 15/04/2010 13:16

Mum and Dad were obviously very lucky to get into another flight so quickly. Especially as ive just heard they have stopped all UK flights till at least 6pm!

DD is still very moany, hot and tired. She dozed on the sofa between 9-10, then scopped her up to go see the MW and shs now back to sleep.. Poor thing.

MW visit went well. Sugar in my sample as normal but she wasnt concerned enough to send me for the repeat GTT.. good good.
Baby is head down on the left hand side. Could hear its hicccups on the doppler thingy.
Notes say 4/5ths under the Descent bit... Does that mean its 4/5ths engaged or she feels 4/5ths? I can never remember what way round it is.
Her last comment of "See you next week, but call me if you need me" has got my mind ticking though... does she know something I dont!

Heffa- Hope your MW appointment goes well.

Rachel- I too would be freaking about mice. DH would not be allowed to rest untill they were gone. I think id have to go out druing the day

ML- Glad things are finally happening for you Looking forward to your announcement!

Kaffa- DH and I have a feeling this one is another girl although my parents are adament its a boy!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/04/2010 13:25

Good luck ML

Pigley - sorry to hear your DD is under the weather, hope she feels better soon. Glad your appointment went well.

MW said that it was probably false labour last night but to keep an eye on it. I still feel a little freaked out by it all though.

KaffaCakes - hope you enjoy your antenatal class. We had 5 on the NHS but didn't attend them all, but 2 sounds about normal I'd think. People used to tell me I was carrying a boy with DD (we knew but didn't tell everyone), I don't think bump shape is any indicator. My MIL (who was convinced DD was a boy) is now convinced this one is a girl because she has a feeling. Although the scan said it's a boy

SquirtsMum · 15/04/2010 13:26

ML Woop Woop!!! sooo excited I may have even clapped a little when reading your pessary post... DP look was something like this

xxxx

pamelat · 15/04/2010 13:43

Hoe exciting ML, any news?!

Rachel, sorry re mouse. I would be terrified. Especially with a baby on the way . I would tell DH that I was going to live elsewhere until its sorted I am a bit of a wuss though and would need it all done humanely. I know ....

BP still too high. Midwife took it twice, once bottom number was 93 and once 96. She coming back on Saturday to re do it. Was at home this time She says that maybe my body can not cope with the pregnancy anymore, I should have asked what she meant. DD was with me so difficult. Am 37 weeks on Tuesday when at hospital for scan re breech anyway.

No protein in wee so pregnany induced hypertension apparently.

I feel ok, breathless but otherwise ok. She has said to "rest", not easy with a 2 year old, work, and an exam next week

Work have said to not go in so will be ok once monday is here. Its just looking after DD that is hard work. Had a morning at home today for first time in ages, its dragged a little
