newmomma · 14/04/2010 10:38

Oh, glad to hear I'm not alone...

I really need to wash all the baby clothes and re-pack my hospital bag in case of this c/s on Tuesday (as have only packed for my nice short MLU water birth) but can't even keep my eyes open.

Am going back to bed when DS1 does soon (hopefully he'll actually sleep now - we had 2 hours max last night?!?) and then going to call MIL this arvo to see if she can have him.

Sorry for the self-indulgent post...

AnAngelWithin · 14/04/2010 12:03

don't be sorry!! Hope you get some rest!

cupcakefairy · 14/04/2010 12:50

Afternoon ladies..
All you on iron tablets...my midwife said yesterday 2 is about all your body can absorb in a day (200mg ferrous sulphate) and after that you excrete the rest (hence the lovely black stools!!) so I am only taking 2 from now on, and quite happily!! Had bloods taken yesterday too and hoping levels have improved.

MDM where are you hiding that baby?? I've very jealous! My bump is just huge (and so are my bum and thighs...sigh) my little sister visited last night- pre-pregnancy we could share clothes and now looking at her she just looks like a stick and I feel enormous

alle I'm with you on the mixed feelings! Sometimes I get moments of 'eeep, baby!' excitement and other times I'm just pure fear (particularly when people talk about poo up to necks more than twice a day! )

Tomlin wow good luck with the house selling!

ML and Forces and all you others possibly having babies in the next week...good luck!! Can't believe we are all so close now.

MW said I am measuring too small yesterday (I know, laughable, my bump is seriously HUGE) so going for a growth scan on Tues. I'm secretly hoping it's just a nice 6lb baby with a very small head!!
3/5 engaged now too scary!

myfirstbump · 14/04/2010 13:20

Newmomma, thinking of you. Everyone gets to have a me me me day (or 20 if you like). hope you get a good nap in later.

Yorky - I'm going to email Mr Y to see how far you are from me now! All this talk of bases has got me pondering!

I can't get comfy at the moment. No matter how I sit or lie it's just not right. It's my legs more than anything - I don't know where to put them!

My work colleague had her baby overnight. Bouncing baby boy called Miles. I'm so excited about our imminent arrivals, if a little tiny bit jealous that I still have 6 weeks to go!

Good luck forces and ml and newmomma.

Pigley your bump is amazing! I really must get a photo of mine before it's too late.

Chip butties for lunch at work today - they've just arrived, so I'm off for now! Do not disturb sign being prominently placed on my desk...

sweetkitty · 14/04/2010 13:26

Been v busy this morning, finally packed my bag, I think I have been in denial that it is actually happening soon, it feels strange packing all those little clothes doesn't it. Also been to dentist and had temp filling on crumbling tooth. Been tidying the big two's room as well, they have so much stuff and not enough space for it all. We so need this extension, DP and I spent most of yesterday afternoon arguing debating the layout though. We have decided to knock down an external wall and have a bigger kitchen diner, short term more pain and cost but long term better. DP took the big two swimming this morning as well so they are happy.

Angelwithin - you are far too pregnant for the cinema, DVD and a bowl of popcorn would be enough.

newmomma - hope you get some sleep

littleowls - here is a good guide to third stages third stage I almost had a retained placenta with DD1 and all the messing about with it kind of ruined the first hour with her, I have had natural third stages with DD2 and 3 and IME it was a lot better. I will be the same as you with the induction but I don't have the "is this it" with me there is no doubt.

ML - Olivia is lovely would have been on our shortlist for DD3 but doesn't go with DP's surname love the nn Livvy as well

hormonalmum - about your car seat some people! Glad about the homebirth pack, HBs are lovely.

Lucky - thanks for dropping by I also have a Jan 2006 baby and a July 2008 baby, Jan not that good a month for having a baby and July seems to drag in, May is a lovely month.

Right better go

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 14/04/2010 14:51

Den, cupcake and littleowls - I saw the midwife this morning (the 4th different one I've seen!) and she was concerned that I'm measuring small for dates too. She's referred me for a growth scan, so I'm waiting to hear from the hospital as to when that will be. She was shocked that I haven't been referred for a growth scan before, since my bump has consistently been measuring small for dates, and has been getting further and further behind (at 25 weeks -1cm, at 30 weeks -2cm, then -4cm at 34 weeks, and today at 36 weeks I was -5cm off (measured 31cm). She said it was just to be on the safe side, and she has made me another appointment to see her again for my 38wk appointment (i.e. actually her, not another random midwife!) instead of the GP.

Apart from that, she really liked my birth plan (so thanks for all the help and guidance on that front ladies!), and said the LO is 4/5 engaged.

Interested to hear about putting oven bits and grill pans in the bath to soak. Doesn't that then involve having to clean the bath too though? I don't think I could bear that, am super-lazy, I just stick mine in the dishwasher together with the metal bits from the top of the hob. Usually does the trick.

littleowls and angel - I have shopping delivered too, much easier!

Sorry for rather me-centric post. Am meant to be working from home today after midwife appointment this morning, so should get on with some actual work really. Have got friends coming for dinner tonight who are bringing us lots of their second-hand baby bits and pieces including a moses basket and car seat, so I won't have time to do much work before I stop to cook dinner!

pigleychez · 14/04/2010 15:02

Pamlet- We have nice neighbours too. We only moved in last Easter and they adore DD!
Bought her birthday/xmas/easter presents etc.
They have offered to have DD when I go into labour. My mum will come as soon as we call but it will take her an hours drive so may use them for that time should it kick off quickly. I know DD would be fine with them but they are both in thier 70's so feel abit wrong dumping a 20mth old on them for too long!

Schipo- What a nightmare Hope that doesnt happen to us too! DH has said if its not put back exactly as it was then we will get the guy who did it orginally to relay the blocks then send them the bill! Thankfully the guys doing it seem to be really nice and have said they will try and do everything with as little distruption as possible.
Tad concerned as the guys they have with them working have been turning up in Double glazing vans!?!? One neighbour also reckons the pipes were replaced a few years back so shouldnt need doing anyway?!
ARRGHH

My bump also swaps sides. Keep trying to sleep on my left but always seem to wake up on my right hand side!

Gills- Go steady! Although with DD I decided to paint our bedroom at 34 weeks. DH came home and went bonkers!

Den- 6'8" Blimey!
Im off to a wedding (DH is best man) on the 24th.. Ill be 37 weeks and it is the other side of the country. I too am begining to get a tad concerned. Just make sure your bag and notes are with you!

Hormonal- Hope you get your car seat back soon!!

ML- We too have Olivia on our shortlist.

Firstbump- Chipbutty..MMMmmmmm
re my bump- I feel massive and its feels so heavy now. My strecth marks look so angry!

SK- Sounds like a busy day

The new buggy board has just arrived so will attempt to fit that later. My parents are due later too. They are staying overnight and using us as airport parking!

Oh joy... Next door are now being dug up by the gasmen so my peace (DD napping) is now being shattered by the phuenmatic drill!

cupcakefairy · 14/04/2010 15:40

MDM I measured 31.5 yesterday at 35 weeks. I have also seen 4 or 5 different midwives this pregnancy...yesterday's the latest cos we moved house but she is definitely the nicest so far so I'm glad I'll have her til the end.
She said the scan is just for completeness on the notes. Cos if I went into hospital in labour next week and they saw 31.5 measurement on my notes, they might be concerned and not let me deliver on the MLU, so at least if the notes are complete everyone has all the info

Am sure for both of us though that it's cos we've been measured by so many different midwives! They all do it differently. But will be nice to see lo again Have fun with your friends tonight!

brightredballoon · 14/04/2010 16:06

Arrgh just popped in to say hi and noticed my huge long post from last night isn't here! Typical. Had replied to lots individually as well.

I will be back on later when I have more time.

Good luck for tomorrow ML and Forces

Yorky · 14/04/2010 17:02

Myfirstbump, the obvious base with the air show!

Mmmmm - chip bitty, haven't had one for yonks, we're in for bolognese with rice as I thought it was a tupperware of chilli I was taking out of the freezer!

V of growth scans for suspected small babies, I was told I might get one as DD was big, but I'm measuring fine for dates and gutted at no extra scan!

Good luck for tomorrow, can't believe our first babies will be about 6wks before mine is supposed to hatch!

Angel, my DS is being a very naughty word as well, and DD is climbing in top of him and kissing him - he isn't impressed but I think its hilarious!

pamelat · 14/04/2010 17:32

Hello all, not caught up on the other posts just a selfish quick one.

Baby still breech so hospital next tues for scan and consultant.

Also blood pressure high 139/96, she took it 5 times but consistently high. She coming tomorrow to mine to re-check it.

I felt ok but now feel quite stressed

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 14/04/2010 17:51

pigley - sorry about your blood pressure, I always used to have high BP before being pregnant, bizarrely it is now normal. I always found that it would get a higher reading if I had had a cup of tea of coffee shortly before. Being stressed definitely doesn't help either. I hope it comes down a bit when they come back to take it tomorrow.

I just made the mistake of reading the thread about things you take for granted and then miss after having DCs. Now thinking about all the things I'm going to miss, like deciding at the last minute on a Sunday night to phone all our friends and see who wants to go and do a pub quiz, or just going out for dinner if we can't be arsed to cook, bumping into friends on the way home from work and getting home 3 hours later after a bottle of wine each, going on lots of holidays, deciding to go to the cinema because there's nothing on tv... Sigh.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 14/04/2010 17:52

Sorry - mis-typed, I meant Pamelat NOT Pigley.

alle01 · 14/04/2010 18:48

i was going to reply to post but forgot what i was going to say anyway, good luck to all those getting babies next week,...i just had a scare last night, i had braxtons for 4 hours at night, getting closer together and more painfull, dh made call the labour ward, and 20 min later, nothing, he called it the magical call, today lots of pain in downs and back, so decided to stay the day in bed, good excuse, baby reaaaaally low, anyway, 38 weeks tomorrow and bag and baby stuff ready, so i guess doesn't matter when.
i also had lots of mds this pg, i thought u were supposed to build a relationship with her, but who cares,... don't worry about measurements too much, at 37 weeks i was 34 cm, and it's ok, can't remember who posted but by your mw that's small, but baby is bang on average, got scan at 34 weeks for no reason, i wanted to see again, sonographer was soooooooo pissed, baby is head down 4/5 at 37 weeks, but i reckon is lower now, and front to my back, apparently ideal, but can't see much movement, df not any feet or hands sticking out, pity in a way,... but i guess it's safer this way. i don't think how u sleep is important, i sleep on my back, which is in theory what makes them get back to back, and he is in perfect position, so...
well, a long me me me post today, sorry, but didn't read the thread since yesterday morning and i had two full pages, can't remember who said what, i'll need to take notes, and don't look like a selfish b*h, but i am quite antisocial this days, and with terrible nesting instict, been washing everything in sight, actually run out of laundry now

littleowls · 14/04/2010 18:52

Thanks SK for info about 3rd stage.

MFB lots of and lip smacking thinking about the chip butty. Unfortunately I have just got the shopping in so won't be having anything quite as tasty! What a brilliant idea to get shopping delivered. The only thing that made me was that the delivery man dumped the shopping in boxes by the front door, I carried them through to the kitchen, THEN when I had finished he said that if I'd asked him he would've brought it through for me so I didn't have to bend and carry the heavy boxes!!! Silly man.

pamelat - don't worry about high BP. If it stays high, they will continue to monitor it. Try to relax if you can x

pigley - what a nightmare it is having works done outside your house. We live opposite a school thats getting extended and there are always workmen blocking our driveway and making all kinds of noise.

I've been measured by lots of different people who always tend to get different measurements. Usually around 32cm now, the poor trainee doctor looked very worried when she measured my fundal height the other day and it came out as 32! Scans - I'm not sure I have a lots of faith in them as the last one I had, LOs femur length had actually shrunk! Now that's a trick. I'll see how much it has grown tomorrow, or not!

My feet have started to swell this week, I can press my finger in and leave a dent.

Going to go and make a healthy tea, followed by a caramel chip gateau I made this afternoon!

Take care everyone.

alle01 · 14/04/2010 19:02

wow, shrinking legs, that's unusual,...
i get the shopping deliver for the last 2 months at least, delivery men are surreal, one asked me if i minded getting the boxes from outside, at 35 weeks pregnant, so i said i won't,... he asked why,..., cause i'm pregnant, he looked at me like he didn't understand why i can't lift heavy boxes, dah!, you have to be prepared to shout on them, so they do their job properly...
i second the tea and cake, littleowls, excellent idea.

ForcesSweetheart · 14/04/2010 19:15

Argh I had typed a big message then my IE crashed on me. I must remember to save as I go along!

First off I wanted to say a huge Thank You to my secret stork. Yesterday I got a gorgeous parcel containing the most beautiful wee pink check dungaree and bodysuit outfit, girly pink anti-bac hand wipes and cherry lip balm (all from Next - I reckon you blew the budget u naughty stork!), and my absolute fave Percy Pig sweets. Really made my day, as I opened it thinking it was just more of the stuff I'd bought on ebay!

SK sorry to hear about you and your mum. It's a shame she's gonna miss out. My dad and I are the same way, haven't talked in over 7 yrs but I'm sure my half brother has kept him informed that he's now a grandad.

ML Good luck for tomorrow hun. I think it's really freaky how our pregnancies have followed such a similar line, both due 4th May, both having girls, both ended up on insulin, both being delivered tomorrow!

pamelat try to relax and de-stress, you're only gonna make your blood pressure worse by stressing. Think calm thoughts if you can, meditate even?

Nipped into Salisbury this morning to get some last minute bits (nursing nighties and PJs - the one nursing nightie I have only just fits me now so not a hope when my milk comes in I suspect) while DD spent the morning with the wee girl across the road (whose parents have very kindly agreed to take her to nursery in the morning so we can get to ward by 8am). Got a comfy pair of PJs that has a top that unbuttons completely from BHS and a pack of 2 nursing nighties from Mothercare. Think I'm all done now and ready to go. Only hitch is the in-car base I bought on ebay for my carseat is useless, as I have the old version of the creatis carseat that's not compatible with the base. Am well p'd off, really don't fancy having to strap and unstrap it every time we go anywhere. Will have to see how it goes for a few weeks then decide whether to ditch the Loola in favour of something I can fit on a base or not.

Right, am off to try and figure out what to have for my last meal before I go nil by mouth at midnight. Want something REALLY tasty that'll see me through til I'm given the OK to eat again post-surgery. Keep everything crossed for me folks and I'll get DH to post an update on my facebook when he gets home tomorrow night. xxx

lizzie9442 · 14/04/2010 19:39

forces and ml good luck for tomorrow, can't believe you are going to meet your babies so exciting! xxxx

pamelat · 14/04/2010 20:02

forces and ML, good luck and congrats in advance for tomorrow will be thinking of you both.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 14/04/2010 20:10

Pamelat - don't worry about your BP, I'm sure it will be fine. It can sometimes just spike I think.

Forces and ML - good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you both - can't wait to hear the first announcement!

Den26 · 14/04/2010 20:45

Hi All...

Good luck to you forces and ML - you must be so excited!!

Rachel and others - glad you too are experiencing the 'popping'!! its very odd!

Hollyoaks - size difference - my DP is 6'8 and i'm 5'4" !!!

Pigley - (think it was you who also has a wedding - sorry if not) Def taking bag and notes just incase - am i being over cautious wanting to take car seat too? DP convinced nothing will happen, but reading everyones stories on here you never know!

Alle - sorry you had a scare, atleast you are all organised for when the time comes!

Those measuring small - it does puzzle me how accurate these measurements can be. I'm also hoping for a 6lb baby with small head!! On one hand i hope its not measuring too small but also would quite like a late scan

mollybob · 14/04/2010 21:40

hi all - sorry v long time, no post

have finished work so am starting a bit late with all the nesting and bag packing

ended up in hospital last night as had a big gush of fluid but fortunately nothing (just vaginal - sorry TMI)

the good news is that babe is now head down and growing perfectly

the bad news is that I am still being prevented from the MLU (which is just downstairs from the labour ward) because I'm overweight. And the only info from labour ward is all about the drugs they have on offer - I want an active birth but seems labour ward is all about the interventions. Very upsetting and even after reading up on it I just don't understand why.

Hobnobfanatic · 14/04/2010 21:40

First, a big, big GOOD LUCK to ML and Forces. Can't wait to hear all your news when you're able to log on! What meal did you decide on, in the end, forces?

Pamelat - hope you manage to destress. I find the hypno tapes a godsend. They send me to sleep when stress is keeping me awake. Hope the BP reduces.

Littleowls - my feet are swelling too. My ankles look like they belong on an elephant!

alle - take it easy! Sounds like you had a close call!

mollybob · 14/04/2010 21:43

ps - been reading up all your news but too wired to respond in detail - sorry me, me, me etc

v excited about babies arriving so soon

kateyjane · 14/04/2010 21:54

Hi - sorry not to write a proper reply to everyone.

Just wanted to wish both Memorylapse and Forces all the very best for tomorrow. Will be thinking about you both and hoping that everything goes really really well. Can't believe how soon you will both be cuddling your little girls xxxxxxx
