OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hollyoaks · 13/04/2010 12:18

ML - can you not keep your dc off school for the day so your dh could be there during the day at least?

SK - mw was the same with dd as she was so scrunched up. I think this one is head down but it moves from there to transverse and its back keeps switching from side to side. Most of the big kicks are at the right side at the moment but right in the middle of the bump. I basically have no idea?

Rachel - mw suggested sending the urine sample off after protein being present two weeks running. She really didn't seem concerned so I wouldn't worry unless you get any other uti symptoms.

Yorky - glad you had a good time on your hols and the weather was good.

sweetkitty · 13/04/2010 12:57

ML - I would probably keep them all off then, at least then they would be in the same place and one day in very special circumstances isn't going to hurt. Don't even start me on DMs know that feeling, mine didn't even bother to get out of bed to take the phonecall that DD3 had been born (it was 9.30am not early), then when I phoned back at 11am she said "oh I already know her friend had told her, no phonecall to us or anything " DD3 was 10 days old before she ventured up to see her as she wouldn't come on the train on her own during the week (she doesn't work) and she and StepDad were away fishing. Luckily we don't talk now so I won't be even phoning her to let her know this one has been born. isn't it?

Hollyoaks - I know a lot of water round the baby can make it hard to tell which bit is which. My friend is 8 weeks behind me and has the same size of bump (and she was tony to begin with) she says she always has loads of water and cannot feel anything whilst mine is very hard and bony. As long as the little darlings sort themselves out in labour and get in the right position that's all that matters.

memorylapse · 13/04/2010 13:39

Sk. Thats really sad your dm doesnt know whats shes missing. Induction is definitely thurs. Feeling a mixture of excitement and terror! I will have to go on a hormone drip after delivery to prevent excess bleeding

sweetkitty · 13/04/2010 16:28

ML - thanks it's is her loss, I have come to terms with the fact she is not in my life anymore and actually it's better that way. she has this belief that everyone should only have one girl and boy like she did and that I shouldn't have had a 3rd baby, that's why she hasn't bothered with DD2 and 3 much as they are girls. Irony is now I am having the "precious" boy she won't be visiting him.

Anyway back to new babies and Thursday, just keep in your mind by THIS weekend you will be at home with your new little girl, all the worry you have had in this pregnancy will be behind you, oh do you have a name for her?

OP posts:
pigleychez · 13/04/2010 17:01

Tomlim- Wow! You are brave selling now but it must be a lovely house. Good luck.

NewMomma- Next Tuesday! All theese babies coming very soon is sooo exciting

MDM- I feel like a prize Heifer compared to your perfect neat little bump!

Cupcake- I keep forgetting to take my Iron medicine. But thankfully dont feel any worse for it.

Hollyoaks- at the shop assistant!

Rachel- Yay that your MIL is coming to stay. Sounds great for you.

SK- Very true about the birth plan being more of a wish list!

Yorky- Yay for the Non- rainy holiday

BIG BIG THANK YOU to Storky McStork!
Cant wait to try the balm out on Baby. (Neals Yard Baby Balm)

Managed to get out during DD's nap and paint some of the decking boards. 11 down, 17 to go!

Shocked friends at toddler group this morning. They couldnt believe how much id grown in 2 weeks! Lots of "Massive" comments!

Got home to be greeted by men from the gas board. They have been replacing the gas pipes in the road since Jan and annoying everyone with the distruption. Anyway it now seems they need to replace the pipes from the road into my house. This means digging up the path down the side of the house and taking up some of my driveway! The block paved driveway that was only put down last Aug and cost us 5 grand!! Not impressed! I shall be dreading friday now when they come to do it. Ill be watching them like a hawk to make sure it all goes back exactly the same way! Although I hate being at home at times like this. I hate being put in arkwards situations as Im not a confident person when it comes to moaning at people.

Hope everyone is well and as comfortable as can be

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 13/04/2010 17:08

SK & ML a very unMN type hug for you both.
Sorry this is a very quick me post as feeling awful. Dentist removed the 1/2 of tooth that had cracked away. Not the whole thing in the hope that I don't get dry socket again, but it hurts like hell.
MW said baby is now engaged and I'm still gettingn the odd very strong contraction, then calm. She said it's probably just baby moving further down ready for the off!
Take care all.

memorylapse · 13/04/2010 18:50

Sk. A very un mn style hug to you. If I was a grandma you wouldnt be able to keep me away. We have decided to call her olivia. I cant beleive that she may be here by the weekend

pamelat · 13/04/2010 18:58

Newmomma - very exciting news!

Hollyoaks - Am seeing my midwife tomorrow to see if this little one has turned. He was breech 2 weeks ago. If he has not turned, then she has said I will need a scan at the hospital to confirm it. They would then try to manually turn him, which am not totally happy about and if that fails, c section.

Spoke to a friend of mine who was born breech at the weekend and at the age of 33 she has arthiritus in her hip because of having her hip dislocated when they yanked her out by her legs, so would def do c section route if breech. Just my personal feelings on it.

Am scared re c section as to how I will cope with my little girl, also 2.3 but feel its better (if breech) for me and DS.

I have no idea whatsoever if he has turned. I thought he had but now I have bruising around my tummy button and lower tummy and most of the sensations/kickings are low down so maybe not

Have booked tomorrow off work as holiday as DD at nursery and feel I need a day to relax and revise for a uni exam next weds!!! Eeeeekkkkk.

Five, I hope the tooth is sorted soon. It should feel much better tomorrow? Mine hurt a lot the night they did it and was fine within 24 hours, know its not much consolation right now.

pamelat · 13/04/2010 19:00

ML, I would also keep the kids off school for a day. Could they go to GP's house and stay there? Seems a shame for you to miss out on your DH's support and for him to miss it all

We moved house only 4 months ago and the new neighbours have offered to have DD "regardless of the time of night" which is really sweet/kind of them. Fortunately we have parents on hand who only live 30 mins away but its still nice to know that there are lovely people around.

schipo · 13/04/2010 19:06

Pigley: pls let me commiserate re national grid/gas board. Sounds all too familiar. (tmi warning - dull story about gas and holes follows): My BIL works for National Grid and came to visit our new house in the first week we were in it. He smelled gas outside and reported it. His colleagues proceeded to dig up the pavement and our front garden and concrete path over the next three days. They also ripped out our old meter leaving a big hole in the wall. They eventually replaced all the pipes connecting our house to the main supply. They then claimed there was an internal leak and we had to pay to get all our internal supply refitted before we could get any hot water or heating. Over a week later the 'rectification team' turned up to start filling in holes outside. They claim they're obliged to make good any damage they do - leaving everything in the same state it was before they started work but that's nothing like what they've done. Our front path is a mess - they used a different colour concrete, and filled half the width of the path rather than resurfacing the whole thing. They also gave it a novelty texture . I complained when they started work because I could see what would happen but the young kids left to do the work just shrugged and said they were doing what they were paid to do and I could complain to their central office. I have lodged a formal complaint already, but fully expect to be spending half my maternity leave chasing it up . Hope the same thing doesn't happen to you. I'm told we should be happy to have avoided a gas explosion but i'm not convinced

Hollyoaks: your bump's behavior sounds v like mine. I'm told one week that his back is on left and the next right and then back again - this despite going to a lot of trouble to only sleep on my left hand side. I get a strong feeling sometimes his back is against mine because the very visibile movements are in the centre front. The last midwife I saw reassured me that which direction the back was facing right now wasn't important - that they move a lot. She also said that it wasn't true that babies only move in a clockwise direction. Can anyone else confirm that?

Rachel: sorry to hear you're worrying about downs. I'm really not sure what good these tests do. I had a much higher risk than you and did have a CVS test. The results of that were fine I'm told, but it doesn't stop me worrying occasionally, irrationally (i hope), that something is wrong.

Pram of the week: I saw an out'n'about nipper 3 wheeler in john lewis - it's sooo light weight and a real bargain. I'm very tempted.

My inspection by the Community midwives is booked for saturday morning. Not sure what to expect. Doubt the fact that parts of the house look like a building site right now and that we've barely unpacked will really go in my favour. Fingers crossed though I can convince them that the basement is a perfect peaceful self-contained birthing suite. It would be lovely to be able to stay at home if everything turns out to go smoothly. My birth plan will certainly be covering other eventualities though. We are only 10 minutes away in a taxi or ambulance from the hospital at most.

Angel thanks for your cleaning tips - never occurred to me to soak oven shelves in bath - what a good idea!

Squirtsmum - I'm with you on sadness over the end of pregnancy - I could do this for another few months (as long as bump didn't get any bigger that is!). I hope that's because I just don't appreciate how much fun the next phase will be

Good luck to ML and Forces - will be thinking of you both on Thursday.

Apologies for not having time for fuller responses.

Gils · 13/04/2010 19:26

Wow can't believe babies are arriving so soon. ML sorry your DH wont be there. I panic when I think about going into labour while DH is working. If he has done his driving hours that day he legally can't move. It would kill him!!

SK thats horrible re your mums reaction - her loss

Rachel, so glad you have a close relationship with MIL and she is coming to help.

I have having few issues with mine. Only has DD 4 days in 8 weeks yet continually cancelling or rearranging. Her friend is hairdresser and works Thurs only and has booked a hair appointment on Thursday even though she is looking after DD. Said she is desperate. So I am now having to try and find childcare so she can have a haircut!! It really just winds me up because she has my nephew every Wed without fail. Its her last time she will have to look after DD till Jan 11, arghhh. Its her BF surely she coul give her quick trim one night and she could go next week. So determined not to ask her for an help now.

I decided this morning to rearrage furniture in our bedroom. Dh is going to kill me when he gets home on Friday. Did way too much and phoned DS so she can pretend she helped me. I'm gonna regret this tonight/tomorrow.

Only 3 more days left of work woo hoo!

Hobnobfanatic · 13/04/2010 19:28

Rachel - It must be natural to worry. YOur timing perfectly coincides with my own! I was worried at the beginning, mainly cos we'd had such trouble conceiving and DP had a very high number of dodgy swimmers. But then I seeem to have forgotten about Downs and other worries, and the Nuchal scan was pretty good. But now I've been worrying once more and there are lots of 'what ifs' waking me up in the middle of the night. I know, statistically, all is likely to be well, but I'm not the most logical person right now - just an emotional, irrational blob!

Pamelat - I don't know how how you're managing to revise, be pg, look after a toddler and remain sane! Wow!

Hollyoaks and schipo - same here! 2 weeks ago, baby had her back on my left, with feel curled around the top and to the right. The mw said it was the perfect position and I felt so positive that everything was going so well. Then yesterday, I was told that baby's back was on the right, and her feet on the left. Mw said it didn't matter, but I don't believe her! At least she's head down, though, I suppose.

I did ask the mw if there's a worry tthat baby is too active. My bump jiggles and jolts like you wouldn't believe - it feels like she's doing the samba for hours on end. I really have been panicking that she's epileptic or something! Mw assures me that movement is only ever positive. Again, I don't believe her!

Hope everyone is well. I have everything crossed for Thursday - I'm stupidly excited about 'our' babies arriving at last!

Hobnobfanatic · 13/04/2010 19:29

Feet, not feel! Doh...

Lucky2010 · 13/04/2010 19:36

Quick thread crash ladies....just saw your thread and wanted to wish you all luck!

I'm from the May 2006 and May 2008 threads and I have to say that I think it's the best time of year to have a baby!!!

My DDs are almost 2 and 4 now. Where did the time go??!!

Good luck, esp first timers....

second timers, my DD2's labour was 2.5 hrs from the first whiff of a contraction....there is hope!!

Lucky x

pamelat · 13/04/2010 19:58

Lucky, thank you it feels already like a nice time to have a baby. My DD was a January baby and it was horrid! not she of course

Hobnob, I am not sure I am sane. I am eating a lot of chocolate which is keeping me going for now.

Re position. I have just had a feel and although I cant tell which way up this baby is (?!) he is definately on the left of me, whereas a few days ago he was on the right. Should I lie on my right then?

Is anyone else getting kicks high up? Mine are all below my tummy button. It almost feels like he is across my tummy, side on but I really cant tell.

Den26 · 13/04/2010 21:34

Hi All, OMG!!! It has just taken me 2.5 hours to scroll through everyones posts since i was last on!!!!

First of all AARGH!!! to those with babies imminent - Forces and ML goodluck for thursday. And Newmomma - good luck for next tues.

SK - so sorry your in so much pain but atleast they are going to induce you - the end is in sight

Heffa - not long now until the 11th.

Gils - at you having only 3 days at work left, my last day is the 28th, can't wait, so tired and fed up now.

Tomlin - at taking on selling your house!

Swastayana - we are due on the same day!!! Try not to worry about being breech, a friend of mine was sent for a scan at 36 weeks to check position and scan showed that baby had turned.

Angel - good to hear baby no longer breech

Time ticking by slowly at this end... Seen by MW last week who was bit concerned that baby measuring small (given DP 6'8") she wants to see me in 2 weeks time to check it again. She thinks it may be due to me doing to much so have been told to count work as exercise and rest at all other times. Since then spoke to my mum who was induced with both my brothers (i was premature) because they measured small, maybe it runs in family??

Can totally sympathise with those with acid reflux - it has upped its game in the last week, also can't get a good nights sleep due to hip pain or uncomfy bump!

Big movements from LO too - getting paranoid at work that everyone watching my belly!! I think baby is head down so must be its legs/knees/feet!

Starting to panic about going to friends wedding hundreds of miles away on 1st - what if i go early??

Thanks to everyone re birthing plans and hospital bags - jotting notes down!

oh - last thing - may sound abit weird but anyone else heard a popping/clicking noise with an occasional kick from LO? I've noticed it doesn't happen all the time but definately sounds like the noise is coming from inside - is this normal??

hormonalmum · 13/04/2010 22:18

Here I am again - trying to keep up (and failing again!)
Ml and Forces - Thursday - seems so soon! Best of luck to you both.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to our imminient arrivals.

Pamelet - think the advice is to lay on your left no matter what way the baby is lying.

Still no sign of my car seat - very annoyed. Thank you for all your suggestions as to what to do and your own experiences with similar.
I am going round tomorrow to lay the law down to my mums friend. I have told my mum that I may something she won't like but at the end of the day, I lent it to her in good faith a long time ago and less than 3 weeks off my due date, it is nowhere to be seen. A friend of mine who knows of my predicament has offered me the use of hers if I need it, so at least I will be able to get dd to school etc.

Picked up my home birth pack today - so no putting off thinking about it now. Was going to hire / buy a birthing pool, but am now wondering if I am going to have enough time to sort it out. I am wanting to get things done in the house - lots of house movings still need to be done and that is taking precedent at the minute.

Right, best go to bed now - take care

rachelfruitloop · 13/04/2010 22:27

YES! Den I am also getting the weird popping/clicking noise and sensation inside whenever baby makes any big movements - it seems he's splashing the fluid?! I didn't have this with DS1, wondered if anyone else had it as well!!!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 14/04/2010 07:51

Five - hope you're feeling better

Pigley - I hate being alone when there are people doing work in the house too, I'm awful at saying anything and never know what to do with myself.

ML - Olivia is a beautiful name. Are you able to keep your DCs off school? It sounds like it'd make it easier.

SK - about your mother, I don't understand how some GPs can be so uninterested in their GC.

Pamelat - mine flips between the right/left all the time. I think you're meant to sleep on your left although I'm on my right atm because I just can't get comfortable.

Lucky2010 - thanks for the good wishes

Den26 - yeah, the 11th not far away. A good friend locally is booked for her section in the same place on the 10th so we're thinking we'll be in together which will be nice.

Gils - sorry your mum is being a pain, seems a bit obstructive. Hope you're not too sore after moving all the furniture!

mustbemadno3 · 14/04/2010 08:55

fivesanawfullybignumber that sounds very painful, hope you feel better soon. I feel like baby moving down and had a very uncomfortable night, felt like getting in bath at 2 this morning. But dont see mw til week thursday so just have to guess how shes lying. Got a pretty good idea though as I feel like I have a melon pressing on my bits!

cant believe first babys will be here Thursday and its not even May! Good luck x

rachel think its lovely u get on well with your mil i couldnt think of anything worse!

pigleychez at the gasboard. I hate being around when we have people in to do work I know what you mean about not being very confident. Hope they relay your driveway properly.

Hope everyone else doing ok?

Hollyoaks · 14/04/2010 08:59

Lucky - thanks for the nice message, also agree it will be a lovely time to have a baby, especially if the weather is nice.

ML - any update on your childcare? Olivia is a lovely name, already used in mine so couldn't have it but definitely would have liked to.

Pamelat - the mw hasn't mentioned scans or turning baby if its breech but I'm still only 33 weeks. I really don't know which way its lying tbh just that it seems to flip from straight up and down to sideways . I'm sure I can feel tiny fingers down in my pelvis though. Hope yours has turned, the thought of a cs scares me too.

SK/ML/Gils - sorry some mothers on here are being less than supportive. My dm has asked to be present at the birth and I'm still not sure, she was last time but left when dd became distressed and she thought they were going to cut me or whisk me off for forceps. Tbh I was relieved she hadn't been there at that point and it was just me and dh but not sure how to put it. Hopefully it will all kick off in the night and she will have to babysit dd.

Has anyone noticed that Brightred has gone very quiet, I wonder if she's in hospital?

Den - its awful when you haven't been on for a while, it takes ages to catch up. that your going on ml soon, I've still got till the 14th May. Wow, 6ft8in dh, I thought dh was tall at 6ft compared to my 5ft2in.

Hormonal - hope you get your car seat sorted, you don't need that stress. for you.

Pigley - hope they don't wreck your drive.

Have a good day

littleowls · 14/04/2010 09:59

Morning everyone!

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to my secret stork! I had such a lovely bubbly bath last night! It looked so good DH wanted in too ! (Probably because he couldn't see the mass beneath the bubbles).

Den - I kow exactly what you mean about catching up! Just trying to do it now. I started last night, slept then did the rest today. LO is 'on the small side' here too. I have had growth scans since 32 weeks to monitor this. I was wondering if it ran in families as me and my DBs were all 6lb somethings when we were born.

Very exciting news from you Memory and Forces AND of course newmomma and BRB!! I may not be far behind you, it all depends on the growth scan tomorrow. If LO hasn't grown since the last scan then we may have another new arrival.

I feel for those who aren't getting supported by family members, especially when we need them the most.

Those talking about movements and position. I have felt fewer movements in the last week or so. But when I look at my bump it is moving, I just can't feel it! I often get a lump sticking out at the top somewhere. This is its bottom - I think! LO has been head down since 32 weeks and does just seem to flip from left to right at times. It was on the right on monday and the MW said that this was a good position for labour, so not sure if the only clockwise movements it true.

hormonal - hope you get your car seat back

Birth Plan - I had given up on this when they told me they were going to induce me at some point. I feel like I'm going to miss out on the whole 'is this it?' and pacing round the house trying to get comfy, while contractions build slowly! I know its a rosy way to look at it, I am so naive! I know that at the end I want the skin to skin etc. SK was it you who mentioned waiting to cut the cord until it stops pulsating? What does this do? I've decided that I'm just going to see what happens when it happens!

rachel and hobnob - I too have had the same worries and think of all the what if's. I suppose its normal but it gets ridiculous when you get the wildest worries in your head in the middle of the night, it seems so real!

I've been super lazy and ordered my shopping to be delivered today. Think it's here now! Catch up more later, sorry if I have missed anyone.
Take care everyone.

newmomma · 14/04/2010 10:02

Bleurgh...

Worst night last night since being a mummy.
I feel like I could happily give away the DS1 I do have let alone welcome another shortly.

Oh, ignore me - feeling very sorry for myself today.

AnAngelWithin · 14/04/2010 10:11

morning all. Hope you are all well. I am so tired and in such a bad mood today for some reason. Really aggitated. I have taken the kids to the park loads this week and done stuff with them, yet ds1 is still intent on being a little swear word. Makes me wonder why I even bother Sigh. I was going to take them to the cinema today but they have all been non stop arguing, I haven't got the energy to catch a train and then walk over a mile to the cinema. And they have only got the film we wanted to see in 3d and i don't want to pay over £9 each!

ML I would keep the dcs off school. Can dd1 not come back to help for the day?

Den and rachel, the clicking noise is strange isn't it?? I've had it with all of mine.

hormonalmum, really hope you get the car seat sorted. Yay on getting the HB pack though!!!

Gils you go steady moving furniture!! DH goes into a blind panic when i start doing that or order new furniture, as within 3 days, i go into labour! lol

Schipo I've always put them in the bath!! Hot water, soda crystals and a good soak, then quick wipe with a brillo pad and done!

Pamelat sounds like you have lovely neighbours!

Pigley hope they don't make too much mess and disruption!!

SK, sorry about your mum. Her loss. Bless ya.

Yorky glad you had a nice holiday!

Sorry if I have missed anyone.

AnAngelWithin · 14/04/2010 10:15

littleowls, i always have my shopping delivered!! makes me super lazy then!! I never know when DH will be off from one week to the next to take me and i dont drive. And I don't fancy lugging it all around with all the kids in tow!! Hope the growth scan goes ok x

Newmomma, I am having one of those days too
