Angel- Hope you get to the bottom of DS1's stealing soon. Feel for you on the sickness

Newmomma- Hope the antibotics work for you.

Katey- My DH is the same... Whenever he dresses DD its always Jeans and a fleece top. I think he thinks they are "safe" clothes- What will he do in the summer!?

Happened- Go on you fro saying no! How cheeky! What makes her so special!
Glad you enjoyed the hospital tour.

Den- Glad the class went ok. It suddenly makes it real doesnt it

SK- Yay on the new pram

Pamlet- Ouch.. Hope you get to see someone soon.

ML- for you. How frustrating. Is there noone else you could see?

Re position - This one has been laying on the right too. Yesterday I thought it moved to the left as I felt lots of painful movements, the kicks moved and could feel its hard back on my left ( I think ) This afternoon though I cant work out where on earth it is!- maybe even spine to spine!

DH finished work at lunchtime yesterday so I could have a rest. ( The joys of having a boss with a simlar age child!)
Had a long sleep which was nice. DD was being good so DH nipped out in the garden for a bit to chop the manky old tree down. He had planned it for the easter break but what with the forecast it was looking unlikely. So as it was dry managed to chainsaw it down. DD spent the time doing her fav pasttime of colouring. I swear she could sit there for hours colouring!

Thankfully feel better this morning, Not 100% but at least ive stopped being sick which is good!
A trip round sainsburys nearly finished me off though! I think im going to be housebound by the time this baby comes

Hope everyones having a good Easter break - Loving the new smilies

AnAngelWithin · 02/04/2010 19:55

pigley glad you are better

pamelat your day sounds about s good as mine! DD1 suddenly took a turn and she came up in a violent red rash that started blistering, all over her face, neck, front and back, even in her ears and her eyes! it was so scarey, she was all lethargic!!! Rang the doctor (only cos i dont drive and couldn't get to a&e!) who said it sounded like a bad reaction to something!!! antihistamines seem to have eased it not anyway, but gosh. Shes gone to bed now anyway, so just hoping nobody else is ill, and that poor dd1 is better tomorrow. I need a cup of tea and a sit down now!!

pamelat · 02/04/2010 20:08

angelwithin - that sounds terrifying and worse than my day I am glad its nothing too serious.

No one has been able to help me all day. I have spent hours on the phone (or so it seems) and each time someone refers me to an emergency out of hours option, and assure me that they are open today, I call them and get a message saying closed for easter and to call NHS direct back. I do that and wait 2 hours for the nurse to call me, to just be given another "wrong" number, its very frustrating ....

However currently the pain seems to have eased. I have been told to alternate co-codamol and nurofen. 2 every 2 hours (as per packet etc) However am a bit anxious about this during pregnancy but assuming its ok as GP prescribed it and everyone else seems ok ish with it.

I feel a bit spaced out by all the pain killers after not even touching paracetamol for 8 months

brightredballoon · 02/04/2010 21:06

Happy Easter everyone

Pamelat that sounds agony, I hope the tablets help ease your pain, at least to give you a restful night. I took 2 x 2 paracetomol the other week for backache and I also felt spacey as I have not taken anything during the pregnancy so far.

Hows everyone getting on with preparing for the baby? I was thinking of washing the baby's blankets and clothes etc but is it too early (planned cs will be 3wks from next wk). I was thinking of washing and then storing in an airtight bag (but just putting in the chest of drawers would be easier). Still need to buy a few things (namely the chest of drawers!) but am hoping to get it all next week (will be dreading my credit card bill the following month but I am running out of time).
Still undecided on slings, does anyone know if there's a middle of the road one between a coorie and a baby bjorn? what age can they go in a mei tei from?

Carikube · 02/04/2010 21:23

Pamelat hope things are starting to feel better for you.

We have had a productive day sorting out the latest lot of clothes for DD and then going through all the baby clothes we've had back from SIL (which we had for DD and then passed on to our nephew...it's the revolving door of clothes in this house!). I've almost packed the hospital bags as well, though DH has already eaten most of the snacks that we bought for him for during labout .

sweetkitty · 02/04/2010 22:10

pamelat - I have been on cocodamol forever due to the SPD and have taken it before the nurofen I am not so sure about, there is something about ibuprofen in pregnancy, hang on will have a dig for you.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 03/04/2010 00:17

Hello everyone. It sounds like everyone has had quite an eventful time of it. Pamelat I really hope you manage to get some help with your tooth soon.

Had a really busy day here. We've got about 30 people coming for a party at our house Saturday afternoon, as a sort of last big 'do' before the baby comes and because it's my birthday! (So happy to get a 4-day birthday weekend!). So we were up early to dash round the supermarket and stock up on food and drink for the party, then back home for a quick lunch.

BRB - have finally made some progress with preparing for the baby - we spent the afternoon building the pushchair and most of the nursery furniture that finally arrived on Thursday! Still need to build the cot though, because it took 3 hours to do the wardrobe and 2 to do the changing unit!! Somehow also managed to do about 4 loads of laundry, bake some cupcakes and cook dinner. Phew. Knackered now though after hardly sitting down all day.

Just had a nice soak in the bath and now in bed. I think (hope) DH is downstairs busy wrapping up my b'day presents (I hope...). Need to get some sleep before tomorrow - still have to cook some of the party food and ice and decorate the cupcakes. I'll update the list tomorrow to make myself 1 year older .

Angel - hope your DD is feeling better.

Rachel - hope you're enjoying your weekend off work .

alexw · 03/04/2010 10:03

Morning all. Been catching up on all news - sorry for no personal replies - feeling grotty with heavy cold but otherwise fine. Was wondering what the postage date was for secret stork again? Things feeling very real now. Bought cheap pants yesterday so can now get hospital bag packed. Still haven't a clue what we'll do with dd1 when I have to go to hospital though. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and colds, spd, diabetes etc are not too troublesome.

itshappenedagain · 03/04/2010 10:16

Morning all!

MDM happy birthday, hope you have a fab day and enjoy the party rather than running around after others.

pamelat- hope that you can finally get some pain relief and that you get to enjoy some of the holiday weekend.

angel hope dd is better soon...it may be a viral rash, meaning that she has some kind of infection, Ds is covered from head to toe and we had some sleepless nights to accompany it, although it seems to be gouing now! good old piriton!

well this morning is looking clearer than yesterday so may get some washing out in a min. we've just had a massive full english breakfast...craved it since yesterday the only day i dont eat meat.
have friends coming over with their children this afternoon for a couple of hours so DS will be entertaining them all and has been warned not to get everything out.

have a nice day everyone fingers crossed that the sun stays out!

pigleychez · 03/04/2010 10:30

MDM- Have a fab birthday
Enjoy your party tonight.

Alex- I too was just thinking that. Ive just finished parceling up my Secret stork parcel I know the 10th April was mentioned but wasnt sure if that was last posting date or post on that date.?

Ive just wrapped up DD's present from Baby. He/She has bought her a new Dolly and buggy.
She suddenly seems so grown up its scary! Telling me things are "fantastic"! Shes only 20mths but looks so grown up now like a proper little girl. Bet she will look even bigger when baby comes along.

Had a lazy morning on the sofa watching the Grand prix with DH. DD has just sat for the past hour or so colouring!-Thumbs up

Typically DH was sick twice after dinner last night so looks like hes caught the bug now too Thankfully im feeling almost back to normal now.

Hope everyones enjoying the easter break

newmomma · 03/04/2010 10:35

Happy Birthday MDM!!

LuckyC · 03/04/2010 11:32

Forces thanks for the tip on the baby trapping a nerve. I seem to have shifted her a bit now though there is a foot or knee or something I can clearly feel which I think as you say must have been trapping something.

Pamelat poor you. Sounds like hell. BLOODY dentist. Hope you get some proper treatment soon.

BRB I have heard good things about the carrime (if that is what it is called) though they recommend yuo get someone to show you how to use it, as theer is a tricky knot you have to manage.

Secret Stork we said the 10th for postage, right??

Happy birthday MDM

sweetkitty · 03/04/2010 15:26

Pamelat - I did have a dig about and Ibuprofen is not recommended in the last trimester of pregnancy, thought I had posted a link but I hadn't then I looked at cocodamol in pregnancy and it said it wasn't really recommended either and could lead to the baby being born addicted! I am trying to limit myself to 3 tablets a day but it's hard especially when I am on my own here with the girls. Anyway I hope you aren't in too much pain today.

MDM - happy birthday hope you are having a lovely day and being spoilt

pigley - I know what you mean I don't want DD3 to grow up either but she is being pulled along by the other two as well and you are right she will feel so much older once the new one is here. You are so organised I haven't even thought about new baby presents yet (and secret stork for that matter )

We went to Ikea this morning never bought anything much and had to go to ELC for some birthday presents, feeling very sore and shattered now though.

OP posts:
ForcesSweetheart · 03/04/2010 16:30

Happy Birthday MDM!! Hope you had a brill day.

LuckyC Glad your not suffering so much with the sore bump now.

ML I can imagine how frustrated you must be. If they moved the goalposts on me now I'd lose it (unless they were moving it to sooner in which case I'd bite their arm off!) When does your consultant get back from leave?

Re presents for sibling from baby. Lola has set her heart on winning a DS Lite with Peppa Pig game from a Milkshake/Channel5 drawing competition she entered. No amount of me trying to warn her that she may not win is sinking in. She keeps saying "when I win my DS...." The results of the comp are announced 9th April so I figure a cheap 2nd hand DS from ebay will be a much appreciated pressie from mollybump (assuming she doesn't win lol).

Pamelat I was advised by doc that nsaid's like ibuprofen should be avoided 3rd trimester too (not that I'm allowed to take them after my bypass anyway). I'd be inclined to get a 2nd opinion from another doc or pharmacist.

SK I'm trying to limit the co-codamol for that reason too, also was told the codeine can make baby very sleepy and not keen to feed if it's in the blood stream in few days before birth. Apart from all that it really constipates me so trying to limit it to a couple a day at most.

Went to Diab/Ante-Natal clinic on Monday and consultant measured bump as 40wks (at 34+6) so got sent for immediate scan. Showed molly is now breech (after weeks of being firmly head down) and on 98th centile for both head and abdominal circumference. They said that as she's in proportion (i.e abdomen not bigger than head proportionally) and my sugars are well controlled they don't think it's coz of the diabetes, but just that she's a big baby - so they wouldn't be bringing my date forward. Have another scan 12th April and am praying they'll bring it fwd even a day or two, as I'm in so much pain with the SPD.
Saw community MW to go over birth plan on Thursday. She was very impressed with it (I told her I had some help from mumsnet lol) and reckons I'm going to have a much better experience this time than I did with Lola. She had her student MW, Patience, with her and went thru my plan in detail with her - then arranged for Patience to be in theatre with me on the day (if it happens on 22nd as planned)! She said it would be good experience for her, and an advocate for me who was familiar with my plan and could speak up for me.
Only 2 things left to sort out now, one is that we have to be on ward for 8am on morning of section and been told I can't be late as I'll be first on the list for theatre as they prefer not to keep diabetics nil by mouth any longer than they have to. Lola is booked into nursery all day but they don't open til 8am! We don't know many people around here so feel really cheeky asking one of the other mums if we could drop her off with them to take her when they take their LO. I know we're going to have to tho. Last thing that needs sorting is finding a Creatis in-car base for the carseat (as I've decided to keep the Bebe Loola for when we're using car, and the Silver Cross Carrycot style pram for walking anywhere from home.

My sling arrived from ebay and it seems OK (With a doll!) will have to suck it and see with a wriggly baby. Seems very good for the money though!

Right, DH has taken Lola off to park so I'm crashing on sofa and watching some telly. Have a fab easter weekend everyone. x

sweetkitty · 03/04/2010 17:48

Forces - I would ask one of the other Mums I am certain they wouldn't mind, it's a very special day afterall

We got DD2 a Vtech Cyberpocket for her 4th birthday, IME it's a lot better for a 4 year old than a DS as it's a bit more robust and the games are easier and don't require reading as even the 3+ games are quite difficult. I think DSs are fab but for older kids, you can get the console for £35 new on Amazon and the games on ebay for £5-8.

22nd April is no time away

OP posts:
rachelfruitloop · 03/04/2010 20:32

Hi Ladies,

Happy Birthday MDM! I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

Pamelat I hope your tooth is feeling better, that sounds so painful!

Memory I saw on your FB that you're in hospital because of your blood sugars going haywire. This is probably the last thing you need! I hope they don't keep you in for too long. I also hope you get things sorted out with your birth, I would have been so furious after your appointment last week.

Forces it's so cute that your DD is determined to win the Nintendo DS! I haven't thought too much about what the baby will be getting my DS, but I imagine it will be Lego if my DH has anything to say about it! Sorry that you're suffering so much with the SPD. I hope you get some good rest! I also bet that lots of people you know would be happy to take your DD to nursery on THE day, people seem to really like to rally round when it comes to a new arrival!

Angel I hope your DDs rash is better, how worrying!!

Pigley I hope you continue to feel a bit better as the weekend progresses. It seems to take ages to shake these things off whilst pregnant! Hope your DH isn't out of action for too long either!

BRB I'd go for it and wash the baby clothes, 3 weeks is going to fly by! HOW EXCITING!

This has been the first WHOLE DAY I've had on my own without DH and DS around in ... well, I can't remember! I had a 2 hour nap this morning, then went out shopping for some bits and bobs for Easter, secret stork, and the dreaded hospital bag! I think I've got it mostly packed now, but still need a few more things. I think I may get a travel clock with a back light to have with me as I remember being very disoriented in hospital with DS, and having trouble figuring out what time it was during the night. I am feeling a bit freaked out though, very anxious about the hospital stay, remarkably calm about the birth, so far I'm surprising myself! 34 weeks tomorrow.

I'm growing out of a lot of my maternity clothes now (which is making it difficult to pack for hospital as I still need to wear some of these things!) so I bought a new top today which is actually just a size 22/24 and not maternity. I was a bit as pre pregnancy I wore size 12, am 5'5 and weighed 10 stone. I have no idea how much weight I've gained, I've not been weighed since I was 12 weeks pregnant. I think (hope) it's mostly bump.

I'm meant to be taking 3 of these iron tablets per day that the GP prescribed to me, but they are giving me VERY bad heartburn and the directions say not to take antacids with it. I've only managed my antibiotics today, can't face the iron. It's not helping that I'm still feeling under the weather with the sinusitis. My sympathies to the others with colds and sinus infections!

Someone asked about the hypnotherapy CD, I also have the one called Natal Hypnotherapy, Effective Birth Preparation and I am really enjoying it even though I also keep falling asleep to it!

Newmomma I hope you sell your Quinny soon, if I weren't looking for something more "used" I'd have been interested, yours looks immaculate!

I'm sure there was more I was going to respond to, but typically I have totally forgotten! I hope that you all have a lovely Easter and that no one is feeling too rough!

KatnKankles · 03/04/2010 23:19

Hi all... sounds like most of us are fed up and want babies out!

My Dh is off work for 2 weeks over the Easter holidays which is heaven as it means epic lie ins and help with my other 3 DCs. My DD1 just got back from a school trip to France, I missed her loads, I'm mega hormonal and maternal, I don't like being away from them for more than a few hours (normally I will pack them off to anyone who wants them )

Heartburn is horrendous, have taken to swigging gaviscon from the bottle but it only lasts a couple of hours and I'm at it again. You'd think I'd be better at this pregnancy lark as a 4th timer but I seem to be getting worse each time!

xx

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/04/2010 10:39

Happy Easter everyone! Hope everyone is well

We got back from Scotland last night after a very long day driving. Had a fantastic week, very relaxing.

Hope everyone's OK, I haven't had time to catch up with the thread yet as we've been unpacking and sorting out laundry.

Btw, are we keeping the Secret Stork anonymous when we post things?

booboomonster · 04/04/2010 16:06

Finally having some time to look at the thread.

memory sounds like you?ve been having a stressful time. Hope things resolve positively, good luck!

Pamelat sorry to hear about your tooth - what a nightmare! hope you are getting some help from pain relief. I think I found toothache (damaged nerve) more painful than contractions.

forces hope DD does win the DS, but if not your plan sounds a good one. We?ve got DD a micro scooter, she always tries to use other kids? ones, so hopefully will be chuffed with. not sure whether to wrap it or just have it out of the box next to the baby. Is anyone else doing this going to give the pressie at the same time as DD/S sees the baby for the first time, or are you going to let them meet the baby, then do the pressie. DH and I are in disagreement about this (I think same time, he thinks let DD meet baby first - but I thought whole point was to sweeten the meeting?) anyway, any thoughts appreciated!

rachel/katnkankles I have had shocking hearburn recently - proper reflux which woke me up in the night and was disgusting. Not taking iron tablets though so I can?t blame it on that. I did, however, pig out on chocolate yesterday (having given it up for lent - broke a little early) so I am sure that had something to do with it. dammit! Yes gaviscon has become my tipple of choice too. grim that it is!! at least not too long to put up with it (to think some people get this all the time?..)

MDM happy birthday for yesterday - hope your party went really well, very impressive as I don?t think I could face a party at home right now! My birthday is in 3 weeks and I am planning?. precisely nothing!

Just watched OBEM from tuesday and sat here in floods of tears. wow will really miss that programme.

I slept in the bed on my own last night - DH sick of my thrashing about (trying to get comfy, sleep on left side, swig gaviscon, etc) and slept well for first time in ages. Can thoroughly recommend!!

Happy Easter everyone - hope first timers get a chance to spend quality time with DH/Ps and that everyone else gets a break with DP/H?s taking the kids off?. xx

sweetkitty · 04/04/2010 17:52

Trying to remember what we did last time with the presents from the baby, DD1 woke early and came in to see us first then we had to wake DD2 about 8am, I think she came in then we had about 10 minutes before presents. DD1 got her first Bratz doll and DD2 got her monkey which is her favourtite cuddly and they still remember DD3 giving them it. I haven't a clue what to get them really. The big two were fine with DD3 and actually fought over who could get closer to her, I am a lot more worried about how DD3 will be with DS, she is a very jealous Mummys girl.

katnkankles - I have definitely felt a lot more exhausted this time too, I bypassed the Gaviscon and went straight to Omaperazole, one tablet in the morning and I have been free of heartburn for months.

Heffa - glad you have had a good week

rachel - not surprised you cannot face the iron, poor you. Hope it all clears up soon for you. Are you a planned CS? Just asking as you said you are freaked out in the hospital, IME second timers get kicked out very fast. I think if you are straightforward they kick you out from the delivery room no ward stay. If I get this induction thing I am going home as soon as I can, but I will be going home to tuck myself up in bed with DS whilst DP gets on with it. In saying that I remember last time I was bored silly and was asking DP if I could come downstairs and he kept telling me to rest! Not as bad as DD2 who was born at 4am and at 9am I was putting washings on, I felt fantastic after she was born.

OP posts:
pamelat · 04/04/2010 20:07

happy easter everyone

SK & Forces, thank you for nurofen advice. Have stopped taking them. Fortunately my tooth is much much much better!!

I ended up seeing hospital dentist sobbing, pain was as bad as contractions with DD. I felt I could not go on and was desperate for some pain relief and/or help. I was all set to pull my own teeth out but I am too much of a wuss

hospital dentist x rayed me (not ideal but necessary) and said 2 nerves were infected. They got in there and cleaned them up and put some kind of anaesthetic type paste in? I was not really concentrating. Its a short term solution and I will need a root filling after the baby is born but its taken the pain away

2.5 days out of the 4 wasted but just happy that its over and love the hospital now, which is the same hospital that I will have DS at.

sweetkitty · 04/04/2010 20:55

pamelat - glad you got some relief finally

Sorry I cant reply to folk individualy as am posting on my phone. Had really high sugars on thurs night followed by massive hypo on friday morning so hospital advised to come in. Was immediately admitted for the bank holiday weekend for monitoring due to their being no specialist midwife. Diabetic nurse or consultant available.senior reg informs me that hypos late in pregnancy are worrying as can indicate placental problems. Had another hypo this afternoon at which point a healthcare support worker informs me that its no wonder my sugars are all over the place. Im obviously eating too much! She obviously knows nothing about diabetes

kateyjane · 04/04/2010 21:51

Happy Easter everyone

Pamelat - Glad you finally have a bit of relief, sounds like you have been through a hurrendous time.

rachel and katnkankles - I am totally with you on the gaviscon swigging. Now have mine with a straw as the dried stuff round the top of the bottle makes me feel ill! Wish it was cheaper!

pigley - Hope you and your DH and DD are all over the sick bug now.

Angel - Your poor DD, hope she is much better today.

MDM - Hope you had a fantastic birthday

Heffa - Glad you enjoyed your holiday, hope you feel rested and relaxed.

Forces - Hope you are feeling a lot better, not long to go now. Would be great if your DD won the DS, my DD2 is like that if we buy a lottery ticket, wish it would come true!

ML - so sorry you are in hospital, you're having such a bad time at the moment. At least now they might actually listen to you and consider your views. Hope things are stable and that you are feeling better soon.

Booboo - I agree with you about OBEM, it was the highlight of my TV week

Hope everyone has a nice restful bank holiday tomorrow

hormonalmum · 04/04/2010 22:08

ML - it sounds like you are having a tough time of it. Am keeping my fingers crossed that someone will see sense soon and give you the attention you need to keep you and lo safe.
Pamelet - glad you are now pain free! I bet it is a relief.
MDM - hope you had nice birthday.

SK - thanks for posting on my thread the other day. I feel a bit calmer now but every so often I will have a panic that I cannot do it again.

Presents - I think we just put dd's present next to ds's moses basket and she gave him his (teddy bear). Dd only got a ball from ds, wasnt wrapped up and she still talks about it. This time, I plan to get Dd some aqua beads or a go-go hamster and Ds is having a football goal. Not got lo a present yet - but will be taking them next week to choose something for him/her.

I am still in a lot of pain but I do feel happier that I can say "next month" now - in theory could be this month but every day is a day less!

I am hoping lo does come early but I am not ready yet! Got lots of washing done, except bedding so hoping to do that when the holidays are over.
Dh still on with the painting (dd's room)but he has been brill at looking after us whilst he has been off work, I cannot rush him now!

I lent my mums friend my baby car seat over 18 months ago for when her dd came up with her dgc. Despite asking her for it back numerous times it has not appeared. It now turns out that the daughter took the car seat back to her home town and she still has it.(despite not having a car) I was a little offhand when I asked my mums friend for it back yet again this week as it was only as a short term loan and to help her out on the occassions her dgc visited. I am now getting suspicious that something has happened to the seat.....
This seat is part of my travel system and it also means that should lo arrive early, I have no means to transport him/her home from hospital. (planning hb though if poss)

Something else I am worrying about.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and enjoying the long weekend.
