Good morning ladies

Pigley - In my opinion days like today are what cbeebies were invented for! So have a good rest and let yojojo and friends entertain your DD. I'm afraid my 3 are very much entertaining themselves today. Really hope you feel better soon.

Littleowls - You poor thing. A lot of ladies who came through the ante natal ward where I was seemed to have similar problems to you. Most of them did not like the BP tablets and they seemed to be being induced at 37 weeks. I really hope things settle down for you and you start to feel better. Hope you have a relaxing Easter.

Carikube - How annoying of your surgery, it's not exactly difficult to let you know in advance that someone is on holiday. Even if last minute they could have rung you this morning before you made the effort to go there. Hope you can enjoy the rest of the day

AnAngelWithin · 01/04/2010 11:10

lol littleowls, hardly wonder woman!! I hit meltdown last night!! Massive problems with DS1 who is nearly 11, been stealing I don't know how to deal with it really. Keeps coming home with things from school that aren't his, constantly finding loose change in his pockets and room (we don't 'give' the kids money, any money they get goes in moneyboxes/bank) chocolate out of the fridge (then blaming his little brother) even match attax out of the cupboard that i had bought for the boys ready for easter so they had a little something to do one rainy day, he said 'well I wanted them' Oh the joys! Sorry that was a rant wasn't it?!

Oh gosh carikube, yes....our babies are due next month...scarey!! Hope you get the double buggy thing sorted soon!

Pigley get those feet up and rest woman! You need your energy!!

Newmomma, have you tried steaming to clear the sinuses a bit? Hope you feel better soon x

Tomlin enjoy the time with ds1 now!

Kateyjane, hope you are ok, what a palaver!! bless ya.

ML on your behalf, can't believe they are actually leaving you!! Idiots they are.

SK i am with you on the pushing! My first push is always 'wrong' its like you are too scared to really go for it to start with!!! Then you realise that it works better if you are trying to have a poo!!! haha. Then your body just takes over somehow and you just get on with it! It kind of overwhelms you.

Well I've put a lentil and bacon soup in the slow cooker, rice pudding on the hob and got halfway through making a chocolate crunchie crumble and realised i hadn't got any raisens left....DOH!!! That'll teach me to try and be clever won't it?! tut. SIL is coming in a bit, I will ask her to pick me some up on her way in! Kids break up today. Bring on the mayhem!! Apologise in advance if I don't post much after today! It will be a mad house!!!

newmomma · 01/04/2010 11:44

Sinusitis... TEN days of antibiotics... boo hoo for me.

At least DS1 is asleep - I would be too if it weren't for bl**dy shopping being delivered any minute.

I feel so bad I phoned up DH and cried. That didn't help with the pain. Ragh.

newmomma · 01/04/2010 11:48

Carikube - I'm selling a pushchair if your one does fall through...

Not sure what you're after, but here is a link to mine...

Quinny Buzz

Quinny Buzz - ebay

kateyjane · 01/04/2010 12:04

Angel - I really am in awe of you! I am struggling to put the toaster on, never mind making all the lovely stuff you describe. Hope you have a good Easter holidays with the kids.

Newmomma - Have you tried mentholated crystals that you buy from the chemist? You only need 1 or 2 in a bowl of steaming water and they really help to clear things. Hope you are feeling better soon.

ML - Hope you have a better day today. Could you try ringing up the hospital and demand to speak to your original consultant? I am sure they cannot fob you off like this. It is your right to be told one plan and expect them to follow it through. You have every cause to complain, especially with your history and the fact that you have been unwell for the last few weeks. Hope you manage to get some answers and look after yourself.

Well I am having a restful day, thanks to CITV, Cbeebies and a whole table full of craft and colouring activities. I am going to let DH clear up when he gets home as I did 5 hours of ironing yesterday! Feel much happier now the clothes are in order. When the DC's came to visit in hospital they were all in miss matched, half fitting clothes that had been lurking at the bottom of the wardrobe for months. Bless him, he did try but my DH hasn't got clue when it comes to clothes!!

Hope everyone is okay today

itshappenedagain · 01/04/2010 13:05

hello all!

ML- like the others have said i would question the descion, speak to the original consultant and also emphasie history...i had anti partum haemorage in last pregnancy and have been told by my conslutant that he will book me in for induction/cs day after due date due to placental concerns and i dont have high BP or GD and DS was born healthy. stamp feet until you get what you need...with empasis on PATIENT LEAD CARE!!!!! clue in the title.othe option is to call them every time that you get high reading to get your point across. fingers crossed its all sorted soon.

i get very excited when i say that im due next month...for some of you its this month! im keeping my fingers crossed that i get to my due date at least.
went to midwife this morning she was running 45 minutes behind and then some people came in without appointments and asked could they go next as she is heavily pregnant ( arent we all!) and really needed to go next as her DD was getting restless...i said no, and yes i am calous, plus i had a DS (3) with me who had sat patiently on the same seat for an hour, plus she didnt even have notes or look pregnant so sorry they would have to wait, everyone else waiting told them the same thing! bloody cheek! other than that im still measuring ahead but baby is definitely staying in the head down position.

its the last day of school today for 20 days!!! so im off for a haircut in a hour as i look like the dulux dog and cant take it any longer. have my wax booked in for 4 weeks time. everyone keeps commenting on how big i am and that ill go early...as long as im not in labour on exam morning i dont care when she arrives!

on a happier note, i went on the hospital tour last night, and wasnt as scary as i thought it would be, lots on women on there own and others with friend or mum. i was the oly 2nd timer doing the tour though, as last time i didnt get a choice as i had to be closely monitored and induced. would love to get in the pool! fingers crossed.

anyway ladies will do more personal post later.
xx

LuckyC · 01/04/2010 13:32

Question ow ow ow ow very very sore bump in one particlar spot. Feels muscular, worse when I use muscles to sit up por roll over in bed (though am trying not to) like I have torn some stomach muscles? Makes me walk like elderly person, hunched over and going ow ow ow. Normal??

Angel so sorry to hear about DH I worked for a bastard and bully for 3 years and it totally destroyed my self-confidence. Hope he gets a chance to move. How do these ghastly people get promoted?

Pamelat if you have an infection under that tooth surely you seriously need to take some anitbiotics to clear it - did dentist give you any? Otherwise it will just get worse, surely? That's what's going on with me and my failed root canal, hence all my ABs. Also WOW on DD 'just appearing', what a star!

MDM gosh that's really good that breathing kicked in. Shows your yoga class is working. I am bloody terrified.

Tomlin wooooohooo on finishing work

Kateyjane glad you got some rest evben if yo had to go through all that mad stuff first.

Memory does not sound good. Can you see rgeular consultant again?

littleowls here's a not-very-MN for you. Hope you get a chance to rest this weekend.

bought some food that has an expiry date of AFTER I WILL HAVE A BABY AND BE A MOTHER.

Carikube · 01/04/2010 15:53

Newmomma thanks for the offer but I finally managed to pick up the pushchair today - yay! I needed to get a double as DD won't even be 14 months by the time this one arrives (sounds like a similar gap to yours?). The one I got is looking second hand but it was a bargain so I can't complain too much.

Lucky I know how you feel - before DD I got so excited when I could buy pate and blue cheese that would still be ok after I'd given birth - I'd look at it in the fridge in those last few weeks/days and know that I had something to look forward to (apart from a gorgeous little girl of course....)

newmomma · 01/04/2010 18:16

No worries Carikube

Yes - my gap will be about 16 months I think - scary... You happy with your double? I'm over the moon with mine, but haven't used it in double mode yet...

Thanks kateyjane - have been using Olbas Oil in a bowl of boiling water - doesn't seem to be helping much. Guess I'll just have to wait for the antibiotics to kick in... The pain is not far off that of childbirth.

Happy Easter all, if I don't make it back on here over the weekend. xxx

Den26 · 01/04/2010 18:41

Hi All,

to all those who are poorly, Katey your experince sounds very stressful. Hope all you lovely ladies are taking care of yourselves

luckyc - at food's expiry date!!

First antenatal went well today, DP came along too, which i'm glad of as i don't think it's quite sunk in how close it all is now. Think he was quite nervous as he kept trying to be funny throughout - bless

memorylapse · 01/04/2010 19:16

sorry to hear some of you are feeling poorly..I think these things are more likely to hit in the last few weeks not only due to our weakened immune systems..but tiredness, etc doesnt help.

I phoned DAU today and spoke to the MW who normally looks after me in high risk clinic and she said that the man I saw yesterday is a new obstetric consultant and I saw him as my usual consultant is on holiday. She said unfortunately I cannot see my consultant next week either due to her being away..fab

ForcesSweetheart · 01/04/2010 19:45

Just popping in with a quickie response to LuckyC's sore bump so sorry for lack of personal catch-ups. I had pain like this on the left side of my bump yesterday, felt like a really bad pulled muscle or something and was worst when I moved or tried to turn over when lying down. MW at DAU suggested it may be baby trapping a nerve and best thing to do was take some paracetamol to enable me to move around as much as possible to try and shift her. I took some of the co-codamol I have for SPD and was as mobile as I could be and within a few hours the pain in the bump had subsided. MW said it's very common in late pregnancy. Hope that helps some!

Gils · 01/04/2010 19:45

Hi girls, sounds like some of you are really going through it just now. Just a quick post, DH is giving me night of from bath/stories cause shattered. Its month end and its only chance new girl is gonna see it, if she'd shut up for a minute might get some training done. Made a comment about phoning me if there were any problems, sorry but I don't get paid enough to care.

Had midwife today, like ithappenagain was also running 45 mins late. Measuring exactly 34 weeks, midwife asked if I was suffering a lot of pressure and agreed, apparently head is well down. so please to hear that. Took DD who was so excited when she heard heartbeat, asked if little brother/sister was coming out now.

Right I'm of, little housework then bed woo hoo.

Take care of yourselves!!

ForcesSweetheart · 01/04/2010 19:52

OMG ML just caught up on your situation. I'd create merry hell. Can you demand to speak to the registrar who said you would be induced no later than 38wks or would he just be outranked by the stand-in consultant? They're taking the mick. I'm so sorry you're being put through this, it's awful.

sweetkitty · 01/04/2010 20:54

hi ladies I think aches/pains and general sheer tiredness is always the way in the final stretch, I think we will all be relieved when our LOs are here.

Got my Vibe today and it is lovely seems so big after a little single. Am thinking of ways of tarting it up now. It's got pannier bags as well, I was thinking of treating myself to a new changing bag but don't know now, I keep DD3's things in a Peppa Pig bag now but think I may need something bigger.

Am now researching a new Maxi Cosi car seat and Isofix base, my M&P Primo Viaggio is a bit worse for wear.

So exciting everyone leaving for maternity leave, I will not tell you with my first I left work on the Friday and had the baby early Tuesday morning. Had loads planned for my last 2 weeks before the baby arrived as well, DP was gutted we were going to the cinema the night my waters broke.

Gils - glad all is going well with you

newmomma/carikube - which double have you both got? I have 18 months between my first two and went on to have 2 more so cannot have been that bad either that I am plain mad! No it's a great age gap, they will be really close. I deliberately wound down BFing DD3 so I could have a close gap again as it's so nice, well the first year is tough but after that it's good. Personally I found the 2 1/2 year gap harder than the 18 month one.

itshappenedagain - quite right some people have a right cheek. Fingers crossed for your exam too

kateyjane - 5 hours of ironing what were you ironing the streets clothes???? I haven't ironed in about 3 months. Have a nice friend who does it and DP does it inbetween.

newmomma - I always get sinusitis when pregnant, it hurts like hell you so have my sympathies. I took some of my cocodamol for the pain I was so desperate. The antibiotics will kick in soon though.

angel - yes the huge poo thing brings back memories and yet here we are again back for more your house sounds as much chaos as mine. I am so happy at the thought of no nursery/school runs for a fortnight, a few jammie days coming up for us I think and as someone else say Yojojo and friends entertaining.

littleowls - aww poor you but the end is in sight, these last few weeks are well a nightmare no matter what, they seem to drag in and your so big, sore and exhausted all you want is the baby out.

Think I will do some knitting then early beds tonight.

OP posts:
pamelat · 01/04/2010 21:11

luckyC funny you should say that, before reading this and after waking in agony, I booked a doctors appointment this morning. Waddled down with DD and my brilliant doctor (!) diganosed neuralgia. He said that neither my teeth nor my ears are infected, and questionned what the dentist was trying to achieve. He says she probably has aggravated it.

Anyway its nice to be given a diagnosis. He prescribed stronger pain killers and said that I can take nurofen too, which seems to have helped a bit.

Pharmacist said that nurofen after 20 weeks is ok in moderation, news to me.

Neuralgia is probably caused by a virus in my case so it will pass, but no anti biotics?

Managed to see midwife today for my 34 week appointment and baby is breech , she says that if he hasnt turned in 2 weeks, will have to go to hospital for them to look and possibly try to turn him. Anyone have experience of this? If not, c-section ....

AnAngelWithin · 01/04/2010 22:50

pamelat i am in the same boat. my LO is breech too and CS is something i dread!! the spinningbabies website is supposed to be good (sorry can't remember who recommended it on this thread) though ive not had chance to look at it yet.

SK yep, chaos...but i love it! PJ days in order i think especially with the pants weather forecast!!!

hormonalmum · 01/04/2010 23:09

Hello, I noticed the new thread the other day but have been finishing up at work (yippee!!) so have not had chance to read it all through.
Then we are almost half way through our easter holidays so it has been a bit chaotic. Dd and Ds either play lovely together or are constantly fighting. Thankfully today has been the former.

From what I have managed to catch up on - it sounds like we are all getting a bit fed up. I know I am. Still in lots of pain - have had 2 lots of physio but no difference. It was nice to see someone who was sympathetic though and was interested in helping me, unlike previous other medical people!

I hope to come back soon with more personal messages. Have a nice long weekend everyone!

AnAngelWithin · 02/04/2010 08:56

morning all. First day of the easter hols aaaaaaaaaaand......I've been up since 6 washing pukey sheets!!! DD1 started throwing up. Groan. Waiting for the others to start now I suppose. The joys of a large family I suppose! So at least the first day, a pj days is a nice novelty!

hormonalmum hope you are ok. Have you finished work now then?

Carikube · 02/04/2010 09:33

sweetkitty your comment about going on ML made me laugh - although I got a few more days between finishing work and having DD, it wasn't quite as long as I had been expecting so I felt a bit hard done by. And I spent a lot of the labour apologising to DH that he would miss the concert that he had tickets for that evening as I thought he was quite cross about that (turns out he was more concerned about me and bubba than going to see a band, but I felt guilty )

Carikube · 02/04/2010 09:35

Oh and we got a Graco Stadium Duo - not as light as a P&T but as I got it for less than £50 it was a lot cheaper! I think I'm still going to do the buggy/sling combo a fair bit as well

Hollyoaks · 02/04/2010 10:40

Happy Easter

Hope everyone is planning on having a nice relaxing weekend.

Rachel - thanks for the advice on potty training. DD still refusing to sit on potty or the toilet so I think shes made the decision for us.

Littleowls - try not to worry too much, only two weeks left, how exciting.

Ml - like others have said, kick up a fuss and get an appointment with the head consultant to put your mind at rest.

Baby Position - dd and this one are both lying with their backs on the right, but I lie on this side in bed too. DD wasn't back to back during labour but not sure when she turned round. The mw is also not sure whether this baby is breech or not as she said its curled up very tight. Only 31+4 today though so no rush.

Pigley - hope the bug has passed.

Sorry if I've missed anything important, but hope everyone is well despite the aches, pains and sleepless nights.

memorylapse · 02/04/2010 13:27

thanks for all the advice re my hospital appt ladies..unfortunately it has transpired that the reason I saw this gentleman is because my consultant is on holiday for 2 weeks..he is a consultant who is standing in..it was very obvious that he hadnt read my notes when I saw him and he just treated me like most diabetic patients who have well controlled blood sugars, with a view to getting me as close to 40 weeks as possible. Ive been told I cant speak to anyone else and have been generally fobbed off. The specialist MW from my clinic also told me that they only book you in for induction if your cervix is favourable anyway..so what the heck happens if you arent favourable?? they just leave you??

Also the specialist midwife has instructed me to report escalating blood sugars or hypos to labour ward over the Easter weekend..so I phoned this morning and said my before bed BM was 11 and that I woke up with a BM of 2.4 at 5 in the morning..expecting to be told to go in to get checked over..er no..I was asked..had I treated the hypo..yes I replied..well in that case what did I want them to do about it??

pamelat · 02/04/2010 15:07

Hello all, have spent all morning in NHS walk in centre, hope you having better days than us

Neuralgia or toothache, who knows which, but its getting worse. Was actually sobbing when I arrived there. No real progress but waiting to see if any emergency dentists can be found over the easter weekend.

They say my dentist could have x-rayed it or even given anti-biotics but it will need another dentist to do that now

sweetkitty · 02/04/2010 15:28

pamelat - oh poor you hope it gets sorted soon or at least you get some decent pain relief

ML - nightmare, I automatically thought that babies of diabetic mothers were induced about 38 weeks as standard, the two I knew were?

carikube - I had a Graco Stadium Duo and for the price it is pretty good. It was much better than the M&P side by side I had before it, better at kerbs as the wheels were bigger and it had nice big seats. Mines was even cheaper than yours, it was free

Angel - always the way isn't it start of bank hol weekend ill children (touch wood mine are OK)

We are having a very relaxing at home Easter weekend probably as I cannot walk anywhere anyways.
