Hello Effilump- welcome and congratulations on the scan!

tiredfeet · 15/03/2010 11:43

morning ladies, and welcome Effilump and other newbies!

I wasn't sick all day yesterday and today is looking good too, so fingers crossed things are on the up for me , wanted to post this to give all you fellow sickness sufferers some hope that things will start improving.. at this rate maybe we will all be eating mini eggs by easter .

((don't know if this will help anyone but I think part of the reason I have improved is that I have made myself constantly sip water (took a lot of effort, normally I love water but it tastes disgusting at the minute so I was preferring juice etc; I have been reading on the internet and apparently this can really help, I guess as it dilutes everything))

nypmh hope you're having a better day too and haven't had any more stabbing pains

good luck to those of you with scans this week - exciting times!

hairymelons · 15/03/2010 12:07

Hi everyone, just added myself to the list. Scan isn't for 2 whole weeks which feels like a lifetime away.
A bit nervous this time as was very lucky last time and had an uneventful pregnancy. Have already gained 3kg though so I think I'm going to get massive!

Hello ladies

I was too scared to post yesterday evening - I had brown bleeding early in the morning & was staying away from home without dh & feared the worst. Managed to get an appointment with my epu at 10.30 this morning & thank god all is well with the baby. I'm so relieved but also it has knocked my sideways.

Dontstop & Wateraddict hope all is well with your scans today.

Welcome new people. It's so exciting that the 12 week scans are now starting to happen.

One last thing, as promised last week I've added a bump pic - nobody laugh now!

Hermya321 · 15/03/2010 13:23

Oh I can't wait to hear how people get on with their scans. This is all very exciting!

Welcome to all the newbies by the way!

I've been looking at my tummy today and it's not as flat as it was, theres a very very small curve to it now.

I also think my hormones are trying to lead me astray. I've just seen a very beautiful man on a bike with the loveliest smile. It was all I could do to stop myself following him down the road. Oh dear!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/03/2010 13:28

Well today's post gave me no news of my scan AGAIN so I am now 10+4, 2 MCs in my history and a really stressful time of it recently and they are still fecking around and not fast tracking me.

grumble grumble grumble

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/03/2010 13:32

I would try to relax but my first mc was at 12 weeks, so I really do not relax

mummylovessadie what a relief! Take it easy today - it will of been a horrible scare for you I'm sure.

I'm officially off chocolate, you girls can have the rest of the eggs, my cheeky chocolate at lunch has made me feel (thats is, sick)

Elsa123 · 15/03/2010 14:06

Seashellsontheseashore- can't you not harrass your GP based on your worry and stress, pointing out that the stress cannot be helpful?

Mummylovessadie- OMG! Thats one bump! Its really specific isn't it?! Not at all bloat! Bless you.

Good luck today's scanees! I'm awaiting my call forward as well anytime from 11-13.5 weeks for Nuchal Fold Scan. Still haven't had an official appointment with the midwife as she cannot see me until 11 weeks, so everything has been done over the phone, including the scan referral.

floozietoozie · 15/03/2010 14:23

Hello HairyMelons and Effilump. Mummylovessadie - you and me in a similar boat. Last night after being down at my mum and sister's and out for MD meal and on the beach with the kids etc, long day, I came home and when I went to the loo TMI alert had quite pink-tinged secretions with very tiny flecks of blood I think. Went to bed convinced it was the start of mc, then this morning it was just a bit darker than normal, slightly brown. Rang the surgery to speak to mw but she's only in on Weds, so rang the community midwife team at a local hospital as advised by the surgery, and the woman on the phone just said, oh it's very common in early pregnancy, if it happens again ring your GP, you don't deal with the midwife team until week 17. Bit unsympathetic tbh, ie, don't bother me again. Anyway, a few days ago I felt a bit like I was getting cystitis and thought my wee was quite dark, and this morning the area around my kidneys was a bit not sore but I could feel it iykwim. So I rang the doctors at midday, no appts, rang back after thinking about it for five mins and explained I was concerned I may have a UTI. The doc called back and got me to come down with a urine sample, which was clear of infection fortunately. I'd told him about the bleeding, not that I thought the two were related, but he had a feel around my tummy too and said it felt ok, but to come back if I had any more and they'd refer me to EPU for scan. Doctor told me to drink more water too cos urine was a bit yellow! Fortunately, I'm off work for a few weeks now and DS is in creche today so I'm just trying to rest. I know it won't make any difference to if I'm going to mc, but it's nice to put my feet up anyway.

That was a bit of a ramble. On the plus side, I still feel sick and tired so that's a good sign I guess (???). I'm envious of those of you having your dating scans now. Good luck to all. As I'm right at the end of the list, I guess I'll be one of the last, so hopefully the volunteer for twins will have been found by that time .

Redheadgal · 15/03/2010 14:27

Mummylovessadie - so glad you're ok. How horrible.

Seashells - sounds like you really should be fast-tracked. Know any kindly GPs who might champion your case? I'm nervous about having my scan. I've no history of mc, but this is my first pregnancy and I'm on medication which boosts the risk of problems.

I've also got a stonking cold... Oh to be able to have effective cold remedies with decongestant. moan, moan, gripe, gripe etc...

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/03/2010 15:12

I've been told numerous times - EPU if I get cramps or bleeding, otherwise no reassurance scans.

I only saw MW on wed, so if not heard by this wed will call and kick up a stink.

Mummylovessadie - just checked out your piccie - thats an impressive bump!! Not subtle if your trying to keep it quite

salander · 15/03/2010 15:27

man you girls have been busy over the weekend!
been lying low as feeling like total crap still, surviving on rowentrees randoms and special k - niiice

seashells that sounds totally rubbish - i would def phone and harass them if you don't hear asap

good luck to everyone getting scans today - hope all goes well

i have no bump yet just massive boobs - can't really complain as had feck all all my life but keep waking self up if i roll over in the night cos they are damn sore! also having to pee about 3 times a night - oh the joys!

Elsa123 · 15/03/2010 17:10

Arghh getting horrid crampy pains that is lots of rolling wind- big cramp followed by wind. A direct result of a Cadbury's Creme Egg- well, thats how it seems anyway and, where am I?? At work, in a communal office. Going to leave in 20 mins...

dontstopmenow · 15/03/2010 17:13

Just got back from scan appt. Sooo fab! All well and only one baby so am sorry but I'm not the one having twins!
Dated at 10 + 5 so am keeping my same due date of 4th October.

Very pleased as will start to tell people now. They don't seem to tell you much when you are having the scan, just measure the baby but I guess you can't really see much anyway.

So sorry about Seashells and floozie not being a 100% at the moment - hopefully things will pick up and soneone will do some nice doctory things for you. xx

jennimoo · 15/03/2010 17:29

Great to hear about the scans I still haven't had a letter and booking in was 2 weeks ago! I will call midwife tomorrow to chase, still feeling pretty rubbish today so couldn't face it!

Hermya321 · 15/03/2010 17:54

Seashells Oh dear, poor you. I'm glad everythings ok though.

I'm glad everyones had good scans today

Jenimoo Oh dear, I am sorry you're feeling rubbishy.

Nymphadora · 15/03/2010 19:15

Hermya didn't get the pains last time but it was my second section which was a bit of a mess and didn't heal for ages where as the first one was neat & only left a small scar.

Hi effilump

Glad to hear the 12 week scans have started as we are all getting closer.

seashells you could always try the sitting in the Drs sobbing? There is a lot of uncaring policies around at his stage of pregnancy isn't there.

Hermya321 · 15/03/2010 19:47

Nymph Gosh thats horrid, I'm really sorry that this is happening at the moment. I hope that things don't get worse in terms of the pain and that this is only a temporary thing whilst your body settles into your pregnancy. Will you be going for an ECS this time? Actually that might be a little too soon to be asking those kind of questions. Hows the triffle obsession going?

lilmissmummy · 15/03/2010 20:06

Sorry I havent been here for ages, feel soooo sick. I have been keeping up to date with all your news and will contribute when I stop feeling so awful! Roll on week 12!

abigailsparty · 15/03/2010 20:12

Evening all,

Seashells Sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time, maybe you'll get to speak to someone a bit more sympathetic soon who'll be able to help.

I had my booking in scan this morning, I had a very nice midwife who was pregnant herself, she really took her time and was very reassuring. She was concerned that my nuchal scan had been booked too late so she's arranged for me to have it next Monday now. Am super worried, with DD I had bad results and ended up having a CVS, it was all fine in the end but a horrific few days to have to go through. The midwife explained that it doesn't follow that I might have bad results this time but I can't stop worrying. I'm desperate to have a scan to see I'm actually pregnant and that everything's ok, but terrified at the same time

Gosh, sorry to be so maudlin when I've only just joined!

loueytbg · 15/03/2010 22:20

Can I just say that you lot have got me eating mini-eggs when I don't normally eat chocolate....(other than chocolate oranges and they don't count)

Seashells that's really crap. Any chance you can rock up to your EPU and say you have really bad cramps and you are going insane because of previous mc and get them to scan you???

AbigailsP can understand why you are worried but what a nice midwife to move your scan date forward. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Nypmh sorry you are still in pain. Hope it eases up soon.

Tiredfeet so glad you are starting to feel better finally.

dontstopmenow hooray for good scan

Hi to all the newbies [waves frantically]

Got a week to wait until nuchal scan and in the meantime have had to tell our nanny that she is going to be made redundant when I go of on maternity leave. Not only that, she has had a date through for an operation she has been waiting for and she will be out of action for 8 weeks . We need to find cover while she is off so I need to find a childminder who can take DTs. Not a lot of work happening at the moment...

AbFabT · 15/03/2010 23:42

Hope all those dealing with stuff get things sorted soon.

I know I've posted before about this, but it's actually started to make me a bit concerned, the fact that I have no symptoms. I haven't had any bleeding though, so hopefully I am ok and still pregnant. I have my first scan in 10 days - feels like ages.

In other news, we told my in-laws this weekend, and my brothers - all very excited. Turns out my SIL is also expecting - she is due two weeks before us!

Hermya321 · 16/03/2010 07:27

AbFab Does it come and go at all? My symptons come and go all the time. Some days I feel liek running a marathon and others I feel like I've got the flu. If it helps you, my Mum went through all four of her pregnancies without any symptons apart from a bit of dizziness every now and then and even that was rare.

Abigailsparty I'm sorry that this is such an anxious time for you. I hope everything comes back clear.

I've been up all night worrying about various bits and pieces. Nothing too major, I can be anxious at times but I think the pregnancy has made it a hundred times worse.

Nymphadora · 16/03/2010 08:31

hermya will be an elective c section this time had two now so no option althoughafter last time I'm glad about that! Trifle obsession went after a trip to ambleside on the winding roads

abigailsparty what anice helpful mw!

I am really missing those food/drink which give a quick energy boost! All of them leave me with a strange taste

Dh is having a late night a work tonight & I'm going to have to force myself to stay up til 7 for the kids coming back from their dads

AbFabT · 16/03/2010 09:09

Hermya, hi. No, I feel consistently fine. I really have started to fret a little (but not too much as I don't want to get myself in a state because of the baby!) that I'm not pregnant anymore. But I'd have thought there would be signs for that?
Yeah, I do know some women have no symptoms (my own mother and MIL included), but even so, I think I should have SOME sign, just a little one!!! I did go to the doctor last Tuesday (about something else) and she felt my tummy and said it felt right, so I guess I should be reassured? Am counting down the days til my scan - nine to go.

Ooh, I am a little more emotional than usual - maybe that's my sign? Niece and nephew gave me a Happy Auntie Day card on Mothers' Day, and it put a tear in my eye!

Try not to let yourself get anxious - easier said than done, but concentrate on positive things for your baby.
