elsa don't know if this is right, but had always thought it began as soon as you reached week 13. Maybe I've been disillusioned all this time!

shieldbug · 08/04/2010 14:08

tiny good to know that your little bean is moving and you could see so much detail. Good luck for Tuesday, hope that they can shed some light then. Really hope you get some good news soon and can stop worrying.

DillyDora · 08/04/2010 14:22

Hi tiny, just looked up cystic hygroma but tbh, none the wiser as it doesn't really tell us what this could all mean for your baby without all the chromosome test results. I'm just getting this from the internet - it's not like I know anything btw! I'm so sorry for all the time it is all taking and all the comments which seems so vague. The waiting must be horrendous so I hope you have some way of taking your mind off things. Hopefully this will all end up being something benign. Glad you saw a prof! And nice to see all the details of the bean though the needle sounds unpleasant!

hang on in there

Abfab you nearly made me spit my tea out this morning when I read your post. So so funny.

Fingon why would they think it was an April fools joke. How weird! Sorry they were mean about it, we're all excited for you though.

shieldbug Finally some happy people! It's nice when people react like that isn't it. I've brought mine to work to flash about. I don't look pregnant yet and it's the only real proof I have.

Well the jellybean is now a jellybaby and is wriggling around like theres no tomorrow. Personally I think it's having a rave.

Has anyone else been going from nought to moody and back again. Seriously I've had tears, worry and happiness within the space of an hour today. I even told someone off today, I hardly ever do that but today I saw red and let the poor thing have it. Oh dear!

Hermya321 · 08/04/2010 14:57

tiny Nice to hear that you got to see your bean. I hope they get things sorted sticky for you.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 08/04/2010 17:14

Nymphadora · 08/04/2010 22:21

Oi I haven't had my first one yet

I might jump ahead then though I suppose!

I was so hot this am that wehwn we went to Macys I made dh & kids go in Starbucks whilst I got maternity pants. Their mat dept was fab , loads of choice, loads of help & loads of offers! Got 2pairs of cropped combats, one long pair & a pair of cropped jeans. Their over the bump things are Lycra so don't sag like the jersey style ones. I sighed with relief when i tried them on

Still paranoid about my scan though& didn't really want to buy anything before then but it was a combination of being desprate and thinking they were that good!

Hermya321 · 08/04/2010 22:43

Nymph I am seething with jealousy over your cropped combats. I'm sure I would have squeezed into your suitcases and no one would have noticed. Your scan is next week isn't it. I can't wait to hear how it goes. Were they Macys own, I may google them?

AbFabT · 08/04/2010 22:45

Aw, sorry, Nymph!

Sounds like a successful shopping trip! I bet the scan will be grand and you'll be wearing your new togs soon! No point worrying though, doesn't change things! So enjoy the rest of your trip (is it just me, or does everyone else feel like Nymph has been gone ages!), relax, and have a safe trip home.

Nymphadora · 08/04/2010 22:51

A pea in the pod if you want to google!

It has actually felt like a long week & it feels like we've been on holiday so that's good! Flying tomorrow night

Hermya321 · 08/04/2010 22:52

Abfab It's not just you, it does feel like she has been in NY for a while.

Nymph By the by, are you still getting achey pains? I know you had them a while back, have they calmed down a little yet? I bet your scan will be brilliant.

DillyDora · 09/04/2010 08:49

Nymph so so jealous about your trip and the fab, FAB sounding shopping. Tres glam you must be. Now, how can the rest of us justify a nice shopping trip to NYC where the maternity gear is so much better than here...hmm....

Glorious day here, we're having friends over tonight, I've made a huge pot of chilli (good job I feel less sick now, eh?!) and that will do it I reckon. We can't really seat everyone so it will be an 'eat it off your lap' (er...in a bowl off your lap...) supper. Even though it's not much I feel so great that I can even contemplate doing this whereas a few weeks ago I felt so tired and sicky that I would have cried if someone had suggested it! Will also be able to show off baby scan pic

Hermya321 · 09/04/2010 09:36

Nymph They look nnniiiiiccccccceeeeee you'll be the style guru round these parts now.

Dilly Thats great that you're having people over, it's odd isn't it. Do you feel like you're emerging from a bit of a black hole?

As for me, I don't think I'm doing so great emotionally. I keep having real anxiety issues, like I'm over worrried, I'm not sleeping that well at the moment and it's starting to set my old IBS off. This morning I've burst into tears twice already and for no particular reason. It happened at work as well yesterday, I just don't seem to be operating on normal FM at the moment. It's weird, I look at myself and I can't really see the triggers for this. Inside I am sort of beffuddled as to why I'm acting like this and yet I am. Feel down and a way off kilter. I know pregnancy causes you to have hormonal moments, but this is sort of becoming constant and I don't feel like myself.

DillyDora · 09/04/2010 09:52

Hermya yes, I feel exactly like that! Like a veil is lifting, thank God! I am sorry you feel so odd and anxious. I suppose it must be pregnancy hormones but it doesn't sound like much fun. Daft question but are you very tired as well? Maybe you need a couple of days off to sit in the sun? Can you have a break at the weekend? Hope you have a better day today.

Elsa123 · 09/04/2010 11:07

I know what you mean Hermya- some time off if you can afford to do so sounds like a great idea. I'm feeling quite down at the moment, like a weighty sadness is on me. I don't see my DH during the week and haven't said anything about it, but it would be really hard to explain I think.

I've just realised that I have 46 days annual leave to take before October and, on top of that, every 6-8 weeks I'm away from work on a work related course for a week! Here was me nt wanting my boss to treat me differently and not wanting him to keep me out of the loop, but I'm hardly going to be here! I'll need to take over a week every month! Hopefully the summer will be nice this year !

If, through an admin cock up, the NHS have forgotten to get me my 11-13.5 week nuchal fold scan (as it turns out, this is what has happened) do you reckon there is any way I can claim back the cost of the private scan against that?

DillyDora · 09/04/2010 11:15

Eeeh, I'm sorry to hear about people feeling sad. I hope it passes soon.

46 days?! WOW! I thought I had a lot but that's fab fab fab!

Elsa123 · 09/04/2010 11:51

Yeah- I get 38 days including bank holidays and carried over 8 days from last year. Its a lot to squash into the remaining time and remain convincingly credible at work!

AbFabT · 09/04/2010 13:05

Hermya, I am sure it's 'just' your hormones - just try and bear that in mind when it happens, and ride it out.

Sorry to hear you don't see your DH during the week, Elsa. I know it works for some people, but I would absolutely hate it. Is it likely to change any time soon?

Are you sure you can't carry any of your days into your maternity pay? I know I can, which means I actually get pretty much an extra month paid if I don't use it up between now and October. I get paid my maternity pay, then I can take a further three months unpaid, then I can add on my month of accumulated annual leave, and get paid that last month.
Else, you can just start your maternity leave a little earlier.

Nymphadora · 09/04/2010 13:48

hermya had a bad scar pain just before we came here from turning over in a strop but not much in the way of aching now

dilly these trousers are so comfy that surely a trip to Macys is justified! The stretchy bit is fitted but hasn't had to stretch much yet so hopefully they will last

flying tonight then the long drive home at6am dd2 keeps insisting it's Thursday and can't go yet!weather a bit gray but still warm so having another bus ride & if the rain holds off park & zoo

shieldbug · 09/04/2010 14:00

hello all, been having an anxious time here. I have had really bad pains and feared it was all going to go horribly wrong. Had an appointment at the epu this morning and they couldn't find anything wrong (sproglet still fine too), so they said it was my fibroids and gave me painkillers. Just when I was on a high from this, thinking I'd dodged a bullet (tmi alert) I went to the loo and had nasty yellow discharge. Has anybody else had this and should I contact the epu AGAIN?
Sorry to ask such things but I don't want to contact them again in case they have me down as high maintenance or a general nuisance.

nymph great to hear you've had a good break and found some comfy trousers. Hope the flight home isn't too bad.
