Fingon Which book is that?

Nymphadora · 26/03/2010 11:38
  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)
From a Harry Potter thread (book6?)and never got reound to changing it back
  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?
The taste in my mouth which comes from 90% of foods. The feeling like I need to burp but don't. The stress!
  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be?
Don't know on that one, I like a quieter life than most of them offer!
  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?
Carpet the house /sell my house in order to pay for carpet!
  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?

I read anything & everything and again and again. Latest phase has been Jaspar Ffordes Thursday Next series (new one coming soon- Woohoo!)

Hermya I've just been on some threads and you weren't there are you ok?

FingonTheValiant · 26/03/2010 11:52

It's my "read again and again book" posted under my old name.
Sorry to be vague, I've never done a name change before and it turns out it's a real pain to do it obviously, yet not too obviously gah!

DillyDora · 26/03/2010 11:57

Nymph that's it! That's where the name comes from! I knew it was familiar but couldn't think why and it's been driving me mad. O...the relief!

  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)
It's a combination of family nicknames
  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?

retching, belching, farting.. I have turned into an unsavoury old man...the funny taste, ms...the worry!

  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be?

At the moment I'd be Charlotte in SATC (can't believe I said that - but she has no need to worry about money and she has a baybee! (and other daughter))

  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?

Move house... I can't bear it!

  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?

hmmm...anything by Marion Keyes I think because she cheers me up

xxx

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 26/03/2010 12:17

good responses so far- I'm liking the Junior suggestion (but can you imagine the moaning?!!)

I feel the need to update my film - I've decided any film where Mr J Depp gets to run off into the sunset with me (ok so he doesn't do those types of films but if he did...dreaming away!) Otherwise looking like Audrey Tauto (spelling!!!) would get me a JD look alike!

Hermya321 · 26/03/2010 12:27

Nymph In my defence there weren't that many new posts on them so have been lurking until something new comes up........or maybe I've been trawling round the countryside with my night vision goggles stalking random pregnant people. Who knows, it's all a mystery.

Fingon Ah right, makes sense.

AbFabT · 26/03/2010 12:44

Thanks, Lulabell.

LOL @ Seashells - I've been seeing my mother in myself for quite some time now!

Loving the questions and answers! Ok, my go:

  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)
Abi is my given name, and I am quite obviously fab! A friend has called me AbFab for years - I just took the username from that. It's nothing to do with that dire 'comedy' series that I can't stand! I use AbFab on every forum I'm ever on. Had to add a T (surname initial) on the end as AbFab was taken (actually, I think it was taken by me when I signed up a while ago, but I couldn't log in again, so had to subscribe with a new email address). I wasn't planning on changing it for Easter.
  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?
Only the concerns about will baby be ok - feeling slightly relieved now I've had my first scan, but I do have some concerns still. Other than that, I love it.
  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be? Lost Boys - would quite fancy getting to float around forever with Kiefer. That, or Bride and Prejudice - I love all that Bollywood dancing.
  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?
ONE thing???!!! Win the Lottery!
  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?
I've never read any book more than once. There are far too many books in this world that I want to read before reading another one twice.

Great questions - can we do some more please?!

Nymphadora · 26/03/2010 13:08

Hermya

  1. What skill do you wish you had?
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world?
  1. and who with?
ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/03/2010 13:15

Okay, answers..

  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)
I just love House.
  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?
The paranoia
  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be? Am also liking the idea of Harry Potter.
  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?
Go back to the UK for a shopfest.
  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?
I've read Pride and Prejudice a few times and I am going to read The Art of Happiness again I think.

Had a nice day today. Met up with my friend and her family who left Bahrain to go to Saudi last year but got stuck in the UK for a few monthsa on the way. She had a new baby who is now 7 months old since I've seen them. Twas lovely and baby girl was gorgeous. Right, off for yet another nap.

Hermya321 · 26/03/2010 13:19
  1. What skill do you wish you had? I wish I had Jason Borne's kick ass skills. A more realistic one would be to be able to play the guitar.
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world? Somewhere where the weather is nice, preferbly Hawaii.
  1. and who with? DH of course, he'd want to live on the beach in a VW camper van and raise a gaggle of hippie surfer children. I can sort of surf.
shieldbug · 26/03/2010 13:31
  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)
It's my favourite insect!! (Yup, I'm a saddo biologist). No, I'm not changing it, because I will forget that I've changed it and get confused when I can't log in any more. I would be Tinuviel if anything else, because that has significance for dh and I.
  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?

The disgusting taste in my mouth and the exhaustion. Oh yes, and the need/desire to eat the equivalent of my own body weight each day.

  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be?

Sad I know, but I love Little Women or Anne of Green Gables (the latter was a tv series, but hey) and always wanted sisters. Now I have sisters-in-law, that's pretty cool. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind being Eowyn, although Faramir in the film was WRONG. I like the idea of being a kick-ass female (probably because I'm so not).

  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?

Try to sell our house and buy one big enough to have a nursery.

  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?

Fingon, I'm with you on the Tolkein, but in my case it's LOTR I read the most. I have to read it at least once a year (and that includes the appendices)

shieldbug · 26/03/2010 13:35
  1. What skill do you wish you had?
To be able to play a musical instrument.
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world?

Tough one. New Zealand? Canada? Somewhere with spectacular countryside and a benign climate.

  1. and who with?
dh of course! Oh yes, and my tortoise would have to come too. Actually the reason I don't live somwhere else (other than the UK) is that I don't want to leave family behind. It's hard enough being across the water.

Like Fingol, anybody who has ever known me would of course be able to identify me by my answers, but if you know me, please tell me!!

abigailsparty · 26/03/2010 13:35

Hello, apologies for going AWOL, I've been feeling so sick over the last couple of weeks I have been keeping a low profile... I thought it was getting better but it's been dreadful

I've been popping in though, and have been so pleased to hear about everyone's scans, it's lovely that we're all getting good results and reassurance, not long now for the rest of you still waiting Was very sad to hear about Louey, I hope she's doing ok.

I had my nuchal scan on Monday and have been waiting anxiously for the results all week, I found out this morning that it's come back as 1:7200, slightly better than the 1:45 from my first pregnancy! Am absolutely over the moon, I think the worry has contributed to my sickness TBH so it's a big relief all round. As I'm going to be 12 weeks on Sunday we're going to start telling everyone now - very excited!

Great idea about the questions and answers, I'll do mine next!

shieldbug · 26/03/2010 13:36

Sorry, typo,should have read Fingon

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 26/03/2010 13:54

shieldbug lol, I'm trying to keep the questions fairly random as I like some degree of anonymity (though thats a joke, because if anyone knows my posting history its easy to join the dots if you know me!)

abigailsparty - great to hear your odds are more favourable - what a relief!

  1. What skill do you wish you had? Patience. Not a skill as such but without it I've got very frustrated and missed out on numerous skill acquisitions(hides from 1/2 finished knitting and out of tune guitar, the results of the latest failure in patience!)
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world? anywhere mountains sea trees and red wine
  1. and who with? my friends and family
abigailsparty · 26/03/2010 14:04
  1. Why did you choose your posting name? (And are you changing it for Easter)

Title of a Mike Leigh play/film. Love it.

  1. What is the worst thing about being pregnant?

I think more than the sickness, the awful taste in my mouth, the exhaustion and all that gubbins it has to be the constant worry, and the fear that something is going to go wrong.

  1. If you could actually live the life of one film, which film would it be?

Hmm, tricky one. Bending the rules a wee bit but can I be David Tennant's assistant in Doctor Who? Otherwise something 50's where everything is in perfect technicolour and I just make cakes all day and play with my new refrigerator...

  1. What is the one thing you have to do before the baby comes?

Crikey - only one thing??! Erm, sort out the spare room I guess and make it a tad more welcoming for baby than it is now...

  1. Which book do you read again and again and why?

Like AbFab, I hardly ever re-read books. I do sometimes get alarmed that I'm not going to read all the books on my 'Books to read before I die' list before I do actually pop my clogs, that's a scary thought. However, if pushed I would love to read Perfume by Patrick Süskind again...

  1. What skill do you wish you had?

To be able to paint and draw properly.

  1. Where would you most like to live in the world?

DH and I have a romantic dream about living in Italy and growing our own veg etc.. but in reality I would find it very hard to leave my family so would settle for Devon or Cornwall and do the same thing there! Although maybe not the olives bit

  1. and who with?

DH and children of course! Oh wow, I just wrote children for the first time, instead of just child or daughter Yikes, I'm going to have twochildren!_

AbFabT · 26/03/2010 14:05

Hermya, I have a wish to have a hippy VW Campervan (a new one that doesn't break down) and do weekend trips to the seaside with our cool little surfer children! I can stand up on a surfboard, but am not great at it yet. Won't be doing it for a while now though, hey!

shieldbug, I don't know you! I keep wondering if anyone knows me too! Seeing as I have revealed my real first name, and I have a profile viewable on here, I'd think my friends in RL would easily recognise me here if they knew me.

abigailsparty, I did wonder where you had gotten to! Welcome back! Sorry you have been feeling icky, but glad you had good nuchal results. 1:45 for your first one would have been daunting. My sonographer yesterday told me her first one had her at 1:2!!!!! He came out fine.

  1. What skill do you wish you had?
I wish I could fly, become invisible at will, and pop babies out without pain!
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world? I do love where we are for the convenience of transport and amenities, though it would be nice to be close to the sea, just would like it to be a little warmer. I can't see us emigrating as we like being able to reach our families relatively quickly.
  1. and who with?
DH and our brood of children. Would be nice if our families were all close by too.
DillyDora · 26/03/2010 17:05

abigailsparty that's such great news about the nuchal scan! Hurray!

Ok..more nap....
x

Hermya321 · 26/03/2010 17:55

Abigailsparty Great news about your scan!!Woopie!!

Abfab I for one would be very impressed at a pregnant surfer chick. I also love your wish list for a new skill. Imagine how much your carbon footprint would go down if we could fly to work. We would have to invest in proper full on water proofs though considering the weather round these parts. It makes me wonder how Superman copes, do you think he has hair dryers placed in stratigic places round the world?

jennimoo · 26/03/2010 18:31

I successfully moved yesterday, went pretty smoothly and almost stress free!

I was worried about today's scan as ms has been so much better the last few days, but shouldn't have worried, baby was kicking and waving! They have moved EDD forward two days, so now i'm due 5th October!

Anyone been keeping track of the list, is the most up to date on this thread or on the other one we set up?

tiredfeet · 26/03/2010 18:49

congratulations on the scans jennimoo and abigailsparty so glad to hear more good news

I've loved reading through all the questions, good idea! I'm feeling really poorly today but will try and answer them when I'm feeling better. I so thought I was over the worst of the morning sickness but its come back with a vengeance these last few days.

hope you all have fun weekends planned

AbFabT · 26/03/2010 20:08

Hermya, I don't really think you could lay on a surfboard with a bump though!

I have a zero carbon footprint for getting to work (unless you count the slow wear and tear on my footwear and consequent new footwear purchasing) - I walk to work as it is.
I think that's what Superman's cape is for - to stay dry.

jennimoo, woohoo - enjoy your new home. Glad it wasn't too stressful. How exciting! Did you move far?
I think the list on this thread is the most up-to-date. My EDD didn't change after my scan either.

tiredfeet, hope you feel better soon.

Not a great deal planned this weekend except house-decluttering, in preparedness for the October arrival.

Hermya321 · 26/03/2010 20:59

Abfab No you probably couldn't could you, but well it would be a laugh trying in a strange way.

abigailsparty · 26/03/2010 21:45

Thanks SeaShells, AbFab, DillyDora, Hermya and Tiredfeet, I am a very happy bunny tonight and... ta da! No sickess!

Tiredfeet I feel your pain, that was me a couple of days ago, it is absolutely the worst feeling. I was in tears, I just didn't know what to do with myself. I hope you get some respite soon, even if it's for a couple of days. DH bought me some of those travel sickness bands the other day, I think they did help on my second really bad day this week, they might be worth a try if you haven't got them already. Hang in there!

I forgot to mention that my date has changed to 9th Oct from the 10th. Don't think I'll bother to change the list though, DD was 15 days late so I'm not expecting miracles with this one...

Have great weekends one and all, I think a little decluttering of the spare room may be coming our way too if it keeps raining!

Elsa123 · 27/03/2010 15:18

We're defintely not a weekend threaders type! I don't get much internet access in the week and most of you seem the other way round and are, of course, devoting yourself to your weekend, families etc. tiredfeet- i hope you feel better soon. I think I'm having a hormonal surge, i slept for 1.5 hours at midday, and am getting stretchy pains and feeling very grumpy, esp at having managed to offend others in a separate thread.

  1. What skill do you wish you had? The ability to be naturally neat and tidy.
  1. Where would you most like to live in the world? The New Forest.
  1. and who with? My husband, new family and dogs. Oh and maybe a couple of donkeys and a goat.
