Thanks for the update Hoops! Sounds like you are doing well by keeping active, at you bouncing on the trampoline.

thedollshouse · 15/03/2010 11:12

at Hoops on a trampoline, I'm not sure I would even have the energy when I'm not pregnant!

I had a lovely mothers day yesterday, ds was sooo excited he was up at the crack of dawn as he couldn't wait to give me his card and pressie that he made at school. He then had to creep downstairs and make me another card, it was so sweet. The spelling made me smile. "To Mummy, Happy Muthers day, I luv you." He is only 5 and a half.

Dh and ds then took me to a restaurant for breakfast and I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon followed by french pastries. It was delicious! I will seriously have to do something about all this excess weight once baby is here.

Hope everyone is well and look forward to some news from hoops soon.

Mistymoo I'm convinced this baby will be late too so by the time i am induced it will be May!! However, we have just exchanged on our house and are moving on Friday so maybe the stress will hurry the baby along (Not that I want it to be early!)
Snowtiger my second labour was less than 2 hours!!! First was an average 24 hours.
Good luck Hoops you inspired me to do my hopital bag!!!

Neeko · 15/03/2010 14:06

Oh Hoops hope things start moving for you soon.

thedollshouse at your lovely DS. My DD (3.5) was very excited too as she was telling me what was in my presents befor she unwrapped them! Gave me loads of cuddles yesterday and kept saying "Happy Mothers Day I love you!" Very sweet.

Gosh - real, actual labour activity. That's pretty nerve-wracking. Clary sage in your bath, Hoops. That might move things along.

Report
Snowtiger · 15/03/2010 18:05

2 hours Pillia, that sounds rather nice! Although would it give DH enough time to get home from work and me to the hospital...? That might be just a wee bit on the fast side!

I'm going to invest in some clary sage oil and some raspberry leaf tablets tomorrow, and once I'm past the 37 week stage on Friday, am going to start doing / taking everything I can. It's either that or I'm going to have to start buying Gaviscon in bulk from the cash & carry... this indigestion is getting ridiculous.

How's everyone else doing today?

Report
Zeeky · 15/03/2010 18:52

Feeling exhausted today. Had the in-laws staying for the weekend, who are hard work (mentally as well as physically!). DS is poorly, so today wanted me to pick him up and carry him around a lot which is knackering.

On the plus side, we went to look around a midwife-let unit yesterday and have booked in to give birth there. There was no-one there and it is generally quiet - usually only one lady at a time. They have 3 rooms, all of which are huge. The main room has the birthing pool in, air con, etc, so aiming to get in there! SO much nicer than the hospital we went to last time - which wasn't bad at all, just your typical labour ward. This place just felt so much more relaxing, so will fit in with our hypnobirthing a lot better.

Only 5 weeks left to go!

Looking forward to hearing some news from Hoops and maybe Rtuff very soon.

Look forward to hearing news from Hoops, so exciting to get regular updates - takes the focus off thinking about the fact that I still have to wait til the end of April - feels like an age away. Lots more movement than before bizarrely but lots of pressure still in the foof (how quickly I got used to that phrase )I think the little munchkin is trying to catapult itself down .
I just read in my diary from pregnncy with DS1 that the head was 2/5 engaged 6 wks before the due date and I went over that by 11 days so I don't think I can read too mauch into lots of pressure but agreed Snowtiger as soon as 37 wk mark comes along I am doing the works - minus starjumps because of crumbling pelvis .

Has anyone done the P massage? I couldn't face it last time but then had a section so it wouldn't have mattered but in the spirit of optimisim I thought I might try and do it this time.

sending quick labour thoughts your way hoops hope its not too long for you.

hope we hear from rtuff soon too, maybe she's spending all her time cuddling a gorgeous newborn now instead of on here

16 days to go for me (yes i am very sad counting them down) need to get lots of cleaning done ready but cant seem to find the energy. i never got the nesting instinct last time so prob wont again, think im too lazy for it ha.

also getting nervous about not having the crib here and set up ready, its at mil's house waiting for a new mattress that she assures me will come in time but cant help but be a bit worried.

Ohh hoops hope your baby pops out soon, weeding the garden whilst contracting doesn't sound fun.
I'm going to A and E now, not baby related - I think I have stress fractured my foot (again) from walking too much. I'm really peed off with myself. I will have a newborn and a broken foot at the same time.
EVERYONE SHOULD REST LOTS!!
Heed my warning!

Welcome CharlieandLily Lots of nerves on here.

I'm 39 weeks today and DD took chicken pox last night!! Seems quite mild so far, but after weeks of hoping to go early, I am now hoping lo will stay in there til due date.
DD has had every illness going (cold, slapcheek, sickness bug, chickenpox...) since starting nursery in January. I'm sure she just stands there and says: "Breathe your germs on me!"

stinkypinky · 16/03/2010 11:39

Neeko sorry DD is ill. My DD is too - viral, but covered in a hideous rash and with temps reaching 40 deg. I have another 6 weeks to go, but being at nursery she also picks up everything going.

I think a lot of parents give them calpol and chuck em in even when they should be home... there was a lad there on friday who looked rotten, and was crying. Lo and behold when I collected DD at 5pm, she was ill.

Feeling very envious of those showing positive signs... all the best There is a December bus now, so that helps the morale

SPD is so sore it makes me cry, and wakes me frequently. Started Mat leave on mon, but yet to have any rest.

DH has had a temp of 37.3 and you would think he was dying. He has been totally useless so I have ignored him (better option than strangling him as DD is quite fond of him)

Looking forward to hearing more news of you guys...

Stinkypinky you and I are due around the same date and both have SPD..I know exactly what you are going through..I cried this morning when DS woke with the birds (a new thing) and I was faced with the thought of having to lug my crumbling pelvis for yet another day.

So much chicken Pox going round - must be the season for it..I am bracing myself for it with DS.

Hi CharlieandLily, princesstweetz and I are also booked for home births! Not sure if anyone else is...

Report
Snowtiger · 16/03/2010 14:06

Welcome charlieandlily, and yes, I'm very nervous, despite this one being my second baby and the fact that DS1's birth was relatively quite good. I don't think labour and birth are ever something you look forward to, are they?!

Boodstress I'm doing perineal massage and hoping it helps again - I did it for DS1's birth which was natural and I had no tears or episiotomy so here's hoping for the same again. It's not a lot of fun to do, and I have to force myself to do it each morning, but I'll be glad I did if I get away without tears or stitches again .

Just managed a half hour nap while DS1's been asleep - could have slept forever! I'm just so tired all the time. Said that to DH this morning and all he said was "yes me too, I'm exhausted..." etc etc. I did my best to smile sympathetically when in fact I wanted to beat him over the head and say "but I'm 8 months pregnant you nincompoop! Be sympathetic to ME!!"

Still, the sun's shining, mustn't grumble! Hope you're all well ladies.

Neeko · 16/03/2010 16:24

Sorry to hear your DD is ill too Stinkypinky and had a to myself at your poor DH and Snowtiger's too. This whole pregnancy and birth really takes it out of them!

DD has finally fallen asleep after moaning for an hour. She's such a happy-go-lucky little girl usually that I struggle a bit when she's ill.

Hope everyone else is having a good day. Wonder if Hoops is a mummy yet?

Ok, foot not fractured - just pain in old fracture site cos I walk too much and am now heavy. So hoefully will heal soon.

boodstress I'm also doing the perineal massage (well, DP is!) but stopped for the mo as have now got thrush.

Virtual hugs to all of you with SPD, I am struggling enough without it!

Lol Snowtiger...I just told my dp what I was laughing at, and even my 2 1/2 year old laughed at the right part of me telling him!! She must be used to me telling her daddy the same thing hehe
Charlieandlily, one of the reasons I'm opting for a homebirth is cuz I'm so shy and not good in social surroundings...in fact I don't even leave my house on my own, but being on here gives a bit of freedom to say what I need without stumbling over my words or worrying how I'm coming across...You'll be ok on here, and if you have anything to chat about, someone will answer you! x
Picked up my tens machine today, so now I can await Jude's arrival with the knowledge I've done everything...or almost...that I need to do...apart from the perineum massage cuz I'm toooooooo scared to try it!!!

Report
Boodstress · 16/03/2010 19:04

Ok, Question, is it better to try and do the perineal massage (I am going to be grown up as well and say the actual word) or get your DH/DP to do it for you. I figure if I am not game for much activity down there then it is a bit cruel to ask for regular massage on that area but can I reach I ask myself (and now all of you) ??

Horray for virtual anti natel groups

Bood I couldn't bear the thought of asking my DH to do the perineal massage for me - despite rumpleteaser's assurances of the wonders it's done for her sex life !!! Am way too embarrassed and squeamish - and also not up for much activity down there myself either! Unless we get to 40 weeks and there's still no sign of little one in which case I'll be trying anything, even sex, shock horror - yes I hate pineapple that much!

I do it myself, and find it easiest with one leg up on the side of the bath, and I reach around to do it from behind rather than trying to reach across my bump, if that makes sense? TMI possibly, sorry to those of you who don't want to know! But I'd definitely give it a go - just feeling that area stretching out and knowing that I'm putting oil on it to make the skin more supple makes me feel better because i know I'm doing everything I can to reduce the risk of tearing / stitches, and I don't want to look back and think "I wish I'd done it"!
