ooops meant DH was standing in the bath... we wernt so relaxed that we let DS (5) participate in the delivery!

Really feeling for the overdue squad... I was so sure that was going to be me that the baby was crowning before i actually belived I was in labour.

So Esme was born at home (in the bathroom to be precise) on the 15th April at 3pm. Labour was 1.5 hours. DH nearly missed it as he was trying to find one of DSs friends for him to play with. Doula and midwife caught the baby and passed her to DS who was standing in the bath. An hour later i was in bed with DP and bubs with a cup of tea and scrambled egg on toast!

Good luck everyone hope your labour encouragement strategies pay off.

Wizbit thanks for posting your birth story, I had 3 blinkin failed epidurals last time and couldn't cope without it so c-sectioned in the end, you did well to cope as long as you did. It sounded quite full on, especially with a back to back number..well done!
I have had some new pains following reflexology last night, pain in back and between legs (prob TMI ), the reflexologist says I am producing alot of adrenalin so despite everything else appearing ready I am way too wired so advised glass of wine and a funny film. I am being a big miserable cow and just had words with DH which has left me even more stressed and I know its more me than him but I am looking for someone to be p*ssed off with. Going to try and not think about birth for an hour and see if that helps.

Nobody move threads - we are waiting for you, and would miss you.
We have a joiner from May on post natal, but that is different - she had her baby early and needs a different kind of support, and now.

ilovesproute and Boodstress and anyone else that is over due, i am NOT moving threads either.
Cant sleep tonight as you can tell by the time! Heartburn and contractions although not hugely painful, prob wont come to much all in my back which is not a good sign i hope i dont end up with a back labour. May try and get back to bed soon do not want to be shattered tomorrow.

No-one is joining the May thread, ladies. We are due in April whether our babies are born in April or not! We'll just need to do an April latecomers thread.

AdelaideJo not to worry. Stoicism is hugely overrated.

Nothing happening here either (if it's any consolation).
Wouldn't mind going into labour this weekend as it's going to be pouring with rain here for the next 2 days so I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
Have just polished off a whole pineapple and it was lovely. Now about to get back on the birthing ball and see what happens.
Boodstress I don't want to join the May thread either....they would be all chilled and relaxed and just wouldn't understand our frustration and impatience!!

Bood I'm not sure why - my first midwife had a young student midwife with her. They were both quite big on natural pain relief, and were she not happening to go off duty in the late afternoon, I wouldn't have got my Pethidine either (despite telling her its how I got my DS out and final 6cm dilation!). In fact, when I asked for the Pethidine, she said to me "Welllllll, you say that, but from there it will escalate to an epidural". What the *? It didn't even end in an epidural either!
I really feel it was just perhaps how she has been taught and don't reckon its reflective at all on what most midwives feel about pain relief. When her relief came on, she said to me "what next then, love, Pethidine or an Epidural?" .

Flybynight I wasn't stoic at all, I really was pathetic compared to having DS - I felt very hard done by .
