growingbump we are putting our house on the market this week and have our first viewing of new properties on Thursday. It is stressful and exciting and made doubly bad by the fact we are totally moving areas AND need to find a new business premises as well so basically will be moving x 2. I think we are mental.

CherryPie3 · 09/03/2010 11:27

GrowingBump When I pregnant with dd I was the only one out of my ParentCraft Classes to have a girl - there were 8 little boys born tho.

I think those of you that are moving/contemplating moving are bonkers Especially you Vix

Not moving house, but hopefully having a loft conversion. Based on my current estimate, the builders should be ready to start around, ooh, August .

vix206 · 09/03/2010 12:13

Just having a moan. Since Sunday I have been feeling so ill and have hardly eaten (which is soo the opposite of me as I've been eating so much!) We went to my brother in laws for Sunday dinner and ever since I have had terrible stomach pains, heartburn and indigestion.

I didn't overeat, so all I can think is that it was because I'm not used to such a big meal at that time of day (they served the meal at 3pm).

Yesterday I managed 1 Alpen Bar at 3pm and then a cheese sandwich for dinner which made me feel awful. Today I've had 2 slices of banana and a pack of mini cheddars. DH has gone out for some cuppa soup which is hardly nutritious but all I can stomach.

Never had indigestion like this before, the pains have almost all gone now but I'm left with that wrung out, yucky feeling you get when you haven't eaten properly and have been all tense with pain. Hoping this is a one-off and not the start of an indigestion problem!

soontobefatnat · 09/03/2010 12:19

Morning all - can't wait to hear about the scan Aussie! Mine is about 10,000 years away...zzzz...

We're moving too, but like Marzipan, only renting. Vaguely looked into buying but our budget only runs to derelict, depressing s*holes in S London. Our tiny one-bed flat is waay too small. Hopefully moving by May. I'd really like a bit of outdoor space for the summer.

Anyone else still insanely tired at 16 weeks? Where's the bloom?!!

soontobefatnat · 09/03/2010 12:21

Oops - cross post Vix. sounds horrid. I hope it's just a one-off.

Chulita · 09/03/2010 12:52

soontobe, I think I have the bloom but I'm still very tired. I have lively moments but by 5pm I'm ready for sleep, this pgcy is so much easier than the 1st though!
vix hope you get something into you and feel better soon!

Aussieng · 09/03/2010 13:01

Hi All - just off for my scan but have to take some work with me to look at in the waiting room etc. Booo!

My prediction is Team Blue (gut reaction - all old ives tales indicate pink) but we shall see. I have always referred to baby as"he" when talking about it.

Sorry to those of you feeling rough (VIX, Blueberries). x

Chulita · 09/03/2010 13:05

Woohoo! Have fun aussie!
I'm sooo tempted to ask the flavour but I sort of want a surprise...what to do, what to do!

jennycomelately · 09/03/2010 13:19

Aussieeng hope the scan goes well and baby isn't being coy - my last DS was hiding his bits behind the cord at the scan!

I'm contemplating moving to the other side of the world before the baby arrives - with 5 children and probably without my husband (although he would come over and help us get settled before coming back here for work). Do I win the top prize for being bonkers?

kcoffin27 · 09/03/2010 13:28

good luck aussieng, we will see if your prediction is right soon

Dibbydab · 09/03/2010 14:18

Afternoon girls,

20 week scan this morning was fab - we're still in Team Yellow, though I am leaning towards a girl - I couldn't spot a winky, and DH thought it was the baby's nose so we're none the wiser. Have got a pic, will have to try and post it tomorrow. Really lovely to see baby again, but a bit strange to think we won't see him/her again until it's birthday.

Big hugs to everyone with coughs/sniffles/leaky bladders/indigestion, you have my sympathies.

GYA You cooked a meal for 12 and your mum moaned about a stray hair?! There's no pleasing some people!

Yes Jenny I confirm that you are the maddest amongst us.... (and that's saying something! )

pamplem0usse · 09/03/2010 14:24

Aussie good luck, I'm very jealous I can't wait to see our LO again.... 4 weeks for me to wait though!! Oh well!!

Nikalah · 09/03/2010 14:37

Good luck everyone with scans coming up, and a 'bring on the bloom' to everyone still feeling rough. Saw the doc yesterday for my 4 wk old cough but nada - honey & lemon!

Off on holiday tomorrow - so look forward to catching up in 10 days - we have our scan the day after we land (20th) so will be adding team colours... hoping for Team Pink but happy either way!

LizzieA · 09/03/2010 15:43

I've just had the best phone call of my life following the worst phone call ever on Thursday evening.
I went to the midwife last week and opted to have my blood tests thinking that I'd be absolutely fine and my risk scores would be fine........... 8pm on Thursday evening I had a call from a midwife at the local hospital our risk score was 1:65 for Downs Syndrome and for my age it should have been 1:547. DP was in work (on nights) and I took in as much as I could and agreed to an amnio appointment for 11am on Friday. I can't praise our local hospital enough, everyone was fantastic and the doc who did the procedure was the loveliest man in the world and explained everything to us in a really calm relaxed manner.
I've spent the weekend lying on the sofa in pyjamas avoiding the internet so as not to scare myself silly (I started looking on Thursday and ended up more confused and upset than I would have thought possible).
Anyway, just had the phone call that I've been waiting for/ dreading and the baby is fine. I don't get the full results for a while yet but Downs, Turners etc have been ruled out and I can start to enjoy being pregnant again!

One result that I was given is that the baby is a boy - GO TEAM BLUE!!

pamplem0usse · 09/03/2010 15:49

Lizzie that's great news, congratulations, you must be very relieved!

I'm just sat drinking iced tea and eating a custard tart. My heating is properly skew wiff at the moment....

sayanything · 09/03/2010 16:08

That's great news Lizzie!

We found out yesterday at our monthly appointment that we're Team Blue too (which proves that the maternal gut feeling can be a load of tosh, I was convinced it was a girl)!

DH demanded a print-out of the scan so he can show the penis around . What is it with men??

Dibbydab · 09/03/2010 16:11

Lizzie That is fab news, what a relief for you and finding out you're having a son as well - what a day for you!

Thank you, I'm not sure what my decision would have been if the results had gone the other way and thank God I don't have to make it.
I was convinced we were having a girl (probably because I knew DP wanted a boy), it's going to take me a little while to stop myself secretly referring to bump as Lilly - either that or we'll have a boy that'll need to very good at fighting!

Dibbydab · 09/03/2010 16:23

And updated for sayanything who has singlehandly doubled the Team Blue squad! Just waiting to hear from AussieNG - are we going to start a Team Pink today????

Hi everyone!!!

Gosh Lizzie that must have been a stressful weekend for you. Sooo glad everything worked out. I think you've earned a few more days with your feet up. Congrats to Dibby and Sayantything too.

Well my maternal gut feeling was spot on. Team BLUE!!! So if girls give you the worst morning sickness, I don't want one!

We were very nearly team yellow. We got the most uncommunicative sonsgrapher imaginable. She barely said a word to us, sat so that I could not see the monitor just her shoulder and really did not encourage conversation. She spent ages looking at and measuring the baby's head so I had freaked myself out that something was wrong and really abruptly left the room when it was over to take my notes through to the Consultant (after asking for a donation towards pictures).

Anyway we then had to sit in the waiting room again before a Sgt Major style MW barked my name and whipped me into a room for blood pressure and urine samples. Was all so abrupt that naturally my BP spiked. Back to waiting room before being called through by the Consultant who ran through a load of stuff with us about my BP and proteuria and other stuff. Apparently this is why I am under Consultant care but that is not what I was told at my last scan. I was told that it was due to the Fibroid. So now I have to have fortnightly BP and urine checks, I have to do a 24 hour urine sample, have another hospital appt at 28 weeks and will be recalled instantly if any of my readings spike again.

The good news was that they were able to confirm that the baby does not have a cleft lip (there is a history in DH's family) and all is otherwise well with the baby. So finally we ask as to whether we are team pink or team blue and....

Consultant does not know. Sonographer does not write it down in case parents do not want to know. You have to ask when you are in the scan! Why did no-body tell us this? And the sonographer hardly encouraged questions with her warm and friendly demeanour. Grrrr Even DH who is so laid back and "ah well" was visibly angry. As he said, while you are waiting to hear that everything is well and healthy it is not your top priority as a question so they should at least tell you to ask if you want to know.

Anyway I popped back to the scan dept and asked the receptionist if we could speak to our sonogrpaher to see if she had looked or could remember. She said she would see what she could do. Luckily about 10 mins later she came to find us and said that while they would not normally do this they had a trainee sonographer in who was willing to take another look for us. Result - much better view of the screen and definitely a boy

Then I had more blood taken [biscuits] and was given my 24 hour sample bottle to bring away as a souvenir. Lovely

DH and I going out for dinner tonight to celebrate.
