Aussie congratulations!! Yay, a boy? Is your OH planning trips to the footie yet?!
I wonder if that means my gut feeling will be right.... I'm convinced it's a boy (though my continued MS suggests a girl!)
We decided we wouldn't find out but I'm distinctly tempted still......

Dibbydab · 09/03/2010 16:46

Congrats AussieNG

Would you all be very jealous if I told you that my sonographer this morning was a dishy Naval officer - our hospital has an Armed Services wing and somehow I ended up being seen by a Naval sonographer rather than an NHS one - he walked into the waiting room looking like something out of an "Officer and a Gentleman" and called out my name - 'twas all I could do not to jump into his arms and put on his hat like Debra Winger (actually, he wasn't wearing a hat and DH was there which put the dampners on my moment).

Baby insisted on showing it's bottom a lot to sonographer, hence I'm sure she is a girl taking after her mother with her flirty ways. If it is a boy, well, lets just say it's a good job I love John Barrowman

bouncingblueberries · 09/03/2010 16:59

Congrats to aussie, sayanything and Lizzie - fantastic news girls!

Just back from the dr with some penicillin and reassurance that all will sort itself out in the bladder department once this chest infection clears up. Had also convinced myself that I had pelvic girdle pain as my coccyx has been really painful today - walking has been a tad challenging. Thankfully GP reckons it's all linked to my coughing fits and desperately trying not to pee myself! So I'm now sat with a hot water bottle at my back and planning an early night. Think I'll skip yoga for tonight and just chill out with some ovaltine (although what I really want is a custard tart pample)

Aussieng · 09/03/2010 17:05

Ah - take care of yourself BB.

Jenny you are mad and Nikalah - have a great holiday.

Dibby I'm jealous for many reasons

DH is looking forward to ganging up on me with the LO during the Ashes. His main priority so far has been to check how to get the LO Aussie citizenship and passport as soon as it is born

soontobefatnat · 09/03/2010 17:06

Mmm... Custard tarts... I must get one tomorrow as a treat! drools like Homer S

Congrats on the news everyone, this is so exciting! High fives all round!

bouncingblueberries · 09/03/2010 17:09

No, it's no use. Going to have to and collect ds from nursery NOW and make a mad dash to Tesco for the biggest custard tart i can find. Purely for medicinal reasons of course

soontobefatnat · 09/03/2010 17:37

So jealous Blueberries!! am standing on a packed train home, and the only snacks in my bag are some stale oatcakes!

CherryPie3 · 09/03/2010 17:38

Awwww Lizzie Thats great news!!! What a relief for you Congratulations on TEAM BLUE!!!!

Dibby I'm so pleased your scan went well - I'd totally forgotten yours was today Do you forgive me?

Jenny Yep! Totally and utterly bonkers beyond comparison

Woohoo - more for team blue!!! Congrats Aussie!! Blueberries* Get Well Soon chick

Dibbydab · 09/03/2010 17:48

CherryPie You're forgiven, but I expect some sort of virtual sweet treat as recompense... not custard tart though - cold custard is just wrong on sooooo many levels - yuk! Something chocolatey would be very acceptable

Hope the drugs kick in soon BlueBerries

pamplem0usse · 09/03/2010 17:48

Oops I seem to have started a custard tart dash!! I actually didn't enjoy mine as much as I enjoyed my usual jam donut (what is wrong with me?!!! I don't usually eat this crap!!).
Aussie next Ashes is this Winter, right? Maybe you can use night-time watching/listening as an excuse to get your husband to do the night time changes?!! On the other hand his gloating could be too painful if we perform as rubbishly as we did last time in Oz....

pamplem0usse · 09/03/2010 17:49

p.s. has anyone else read about the council incentives for buying re-usable nappies? Mine refund £40 towards buying nappies/ nappy laundering services.... I'll find the link if anyone's interested!

girlsyearapart · 09/03/2010 17:52

congrats to the Team Blue-rs

I have a feeling we're having a boy as got a totally different bump this time and also have a bit of a preference for a girl so can't be third time getting the flavour I want!

Only really want another girl cos I know what to do with girls and have all the stuff/clothes.Also quite keen on going for a 4th if this dc is happy and healthy and if we have another girl people (read mil) will just think we're 'trying for a boy'...

All those who are moving- we moved into our house when I was 7m pg with dd1- it needed totally renovating. Had the loft converted when I was about 6m pg with dd2. Had to stay at mils both times after they were born..

Waters actually broke with dd2 at mils house as we had been kicked out due to loft and bathroom being done- no wonder she was early!

cakeywakey · 09/03/2010 21:31

Mmmmmm custards tarts! Can feel a visit to the cake counter coming on tomorrow

Hello newbies and lovely to hear all the continued good news.

BouncingBlueBerries - hope you feel better soon. I'm mostly not enjoying an increase in stress incontinence either - when I sneeze though, not cough - so can't wait for my hayfever to kick in!

CazEM · 09/03/2010 21:53

Congrats to everyone who has had lovely scans or news today! Lots of Team Blue so far! oooo I so can't wait to find out which team I'm on! Out of the 11 pregnant women in my work, 2 have recently given birth and bought in their lovely babies last week, one boy, one girl, both utterly gorgeous and made me all gooey! 12 days and counting until the scan!! :D

Another uni day tomorrow, so need to start thinking about going to sleep. Will have to catch up on One Born tomorrow night now!

aendr · 09/03/2010 22:21

Aussie: sorry to hear about your sonographer, DibbyDab at yours.
I feel so behind everyone as I'm a late August girl, so you all get to find things out so much sooner. I still don't have a scan date!
If we get an indication it's a girl I'll be on Team "any colour as long as it's NOT pink". Until a girl can decide she wants to wear pink, I'm going to avoid it as long as possible. Not a pink person!
Anyway, his or her older brother's clothes will get recycled. Just the majority of the early baby (he was small, though term) clothes are boring, boring white (and DS was in early baby and newborn white babygros for 4 months). Maybe I'll have an "accident" with a Dylon dye die getting into the washing machine

I'm on consultant care too, Aussie, for a double prolapse and Group B Strep. I've got my consultant appointment on Friday...

Important aside, I had prolonged rupture of membranes last time (51 hours from waters breaking to birth) and didn't get antibiotics in labour (as per guidelines). Later my swab came back positive for GBS. As soon as they found that, they (whipped DS to SCBU at 2am when I was rather out of it after 51 hours of contractions [mostly mild pre-active-labour] and 20 hours of "what on earth do I do with a newborn baby?") put DS on antibiotics (and brought DS back at 9am) and took blood and gave antibiotics every few hours for five days (when he was cleared of infection) because it can cause death and disability in newborns. If I had known about the prolonged rupture risk, I would have asked for antibiotics as per NICE guidelines and the risk would have been much less. All is fine with DS btw.

... but today my son started to run a temperature and when I talked to nursery, I discovered they've got chicken pox going around... which we don't think I've had and can cause complications in foetuses... so that's another thing to worry about . (If I show any symptoms, I'm going to have to cancel my consultant appointment as I don't want to expose any other pregnant women. But I want the appointment to hear the heartbeat and reassure myself that the baby is okay in there.)

girlsyearapart · 10/03/2010 08:04

morning had a very vivid dream that I had a baby boy last night. So real- gave birth to him, dressed him, fed him and was waiting for DH to come collect us from hospital and sending out texts to tell people he had arrived!

Disclaimer- the last things I looked at before bed were the Team Blue anouncements and fell asleep watching OBEM

But with both the girls waking me up and giving birth in the meantime I feel really tired today!

aendr my scan is not till nearly 22 weeks so I've got almost three weeks to wait so I feel your pain! Also if you've already had chicken pox you should be fine.

ElusiveMoose · 10/03/2010 08:18

Morning all. I'm getting really excited hearing all these Team announcements. My scan is 2 weeks tomorrow, and I really can't wait now.

aendr, sounds like you had a hideous experience, poor you. On the chickenpox front, I'm not saying you should just dismiss it, but I was reading recently that even if you do get chickenpox while you're pregnant, the chances of anything happening to the baby are still pretty low .

Haven't been watching OBEM (not avoiding it, just haven't got round to it), but I did catch a few minutes last night, and that was enough!! That poor girl (the young white girl) who was having such trouble pushing the baby out - it catapulted me straight back into the labour ward. That was exactly my experience - total exhaustion, just COULD NOT push hard enough to get the baby out (plus I never experienced the 'urge to push' that they always tell you about, which didn't help). What happened to her in the end? I ended up with a ventouse, but I really hope she got there eventually - would give me hope for next time .

pamplem0usse · 10/03/2010 09:01

aendr I think your Dr can check your chicken-pox immunity if you're concerned. As far as I'm aware if you've already had it if you do get it again it tends to be asymptomatic.

Ah I'm going maternity clothes shopping today with my MIL, yay.... and NCT sale at the weekend! Has anyone managed any extreme bargains at these?

babyducky · 10/03/2010 09:19

Morning everyone

wow! Go team blue! So nice to hear all the good news!

Another good episode of one born every minute last night, I thought the 17 year old girl was great, & her boyfriend.

Yeah she did get manage to push her out in the end elusivemoose! It was lovely

x

CherryPie3 · 10/03/2010 09:33

Morning everyone

First of all,

sayanything Somehow I missed your news yesterday - congratulations on Team Blue WooHoo!!!!

GYA I had a dream the other night that I was breastfeeding my baby girl, in Kings Cross Station - highly unlikely to happen considering I live in Yorkshire lol. Wouldn't say no to a baby girl tho
Oh, and look at you baby #3 not out yet and already thinking about #4

Dibby I'm baking a scrummy chocolate cake at the weekend - will that suffice as a gift for forgiveness

pample Damn you for setting off the custard tart frenzy - I'm gonna have to go to Tesco's now after work and get one . Good luck with the maternity clothes shopping

aendr what an experienceyou've had!! Hope nothing comes of the chicken pox hun

Sooooo tired today, borderline exhaustion. Think it's cos some idiotic lunatic in a green ford focus pulled out on me from a roundabout today - god knows how I managed to stop and not have anything hit me from behind as traffic was crazy!! Honestly we were soooooo close, it all happened so fast -I was in some sort of daze, wan't even sure if we'd crashed. Not that he cared - he just forked out his window and drove off. Got his reg number anyway. Git!! Hope his car breaks down in the fast lane of the M1!!!!

Anyway, petulance aside - I hope you all have a lovely day guys, I'll pop back later when I've got a minute (or 10)

xxx

Hey girls, congrats on all the scans - I've fallen a bit behind since feeling so poorly Been upmost of the night with awful heartburn, even my face was aching. Haven't managed to eat more than a few tiny mouthfuls of food and the pain just will not go, been like it since Sunday night so I've caved in and made a doctors appt at 11 this morning. I never go to the docs but can't carry on like this, and Gaviscon and Rennies aren't helping so I thought it was for the best.

Maybe I'm being a wimp? Never really had indigestion or heartburn before so don't know what is excessive, but I know I was hardly able to breathe for most of the night and my teeth, ears and nose aching was just to much on top of the chest and tummy pains.

Hope everyone else is healthy, have a custard tart for me I can't face anything right now!!

sayanything · 10/03/2010 10:07

Oh, Vix, I do hope you feel better soon. I haven't had any heartburn, so don't know what's excessive, but I've had wicked indigestion so really sympathise. I found that eating little and often helped. Hope the doctor can sort it out.

Cherry thank you and don't worry about it, it's so easy to miss posts on this thread.

I keep having dreams that I've had the baby and that I keep forgetting to feed him - I wonder what that means...

pamplem0usse · 10/03/2010 11:21

I'll stop posting my latest eatings on the thread..... for fear I cause a supply shortage ;)

Vix sorry that you're poorly, hopefully the Dr will be able to give you some advice!

sayanything it means that you definitely won't forget to feed baby!

ElusiveMoose · 10/03/2010 12:15

sayanything, don't worry, I don't think the baby will let you forget to feed him .

Vix, that sounds like a bit more than normal heartburn (not that I usually get it myself). Sounds like a good idea to get it checked out.
