hello to the yorkshire people
I live in York and dh works in central Leeds. Don't think I have much option for where to give birth - it's York hospital or somewhere far away. I wish we had a midwife led place

MommyDoylee · 08/03/2010 17:10

Hi ! Think this is the right place to introduce myself?! I'm Angel, 23 and due my 2nd baby on 11th August. I'm from Colchester and was found on Bounty whilst TTC. Had 12 week scan in January which was Fab, and I got my 20 wk scan on 25th. Oh and I'm gettin bloomin big bloomin fast! Considering my cravings are Jelly and oranges! And it was lychees and bananas! Anywho - I rambled waaaay to much for intro message! Be good to chat to others - as I know nobody who's preg at the mo! X

CazEM · 08/03/2010 19:30

Many thanks for birthday wishes, I had a lovely day, very spoilt with lots of lovely presents!!

We will be team pink/blue as we're finding out! Originally I didn't want to, but DH is so excited and desperate to know that I became very excited about finding out if we have a baby boy or girl! And now I can't wait to name our little baby either! I'm fed up with 'it' and we haven't really developed a pet name other than bababump! 2 weeks today and I will update my details on the list to blue or pink and I'll add a year on my age at the same time! Haha!

Hope everyone has had a nice day; I spent a couple of hours up the hospital with my step-MIL, she phoned me at dinner time really upset, went to GP this morning with a niggling pain and was being sent up the hospital with dangerously high blood pressure. My FIL works away during the week so it was going to take him hours to get home. So I took her up the hospital and waited with her until FIL got there and my DH made sure he was home intime to be there for his brothers when they got home from school. (Both much younger than him, teens, and one of them is disabled so can't be on his own for too long.) S-MIL is ok, they can't figure out why her blood pressure is so high (it was really high, like 257/147), but is being sent home with drugs and returning for lots more tests shortly...

Going to enjoy the rest of my evening on the sofa now with a baby magazine and cuppa tea and continue wishing for baby movements! 18+2 now, I know it could be a few more weeks yet but I'm getting very impatient!!

girlsyearapart · 08/03/2010 19:47

Hi all.

Roast went ok but had a row mid meal with my mum. She found one of my hairs in her meal- really yuck I know but I obv didn't do it on purpose and had cooked a roast for 12 with no help whilst looking after the dds aswell and being up since 6am- anyway she felt the need to 'mention' it three times.

I tried to apologise and laugh it off the first time but after the third time I got up and left the table after ranting that she is impossible to please...

True it is impossible- you bend over backward to please her and she always picks on the only thing that is not quite right. Grr

Anyway rant over.

elusive I got my maternity cossie from mothercare I have fairly massive boobs and it was fine.

dibby Totally cried my eyes out at my sisters keeper. And it was in the cinema, and without hormones..

My neighbour had her bathroom suite on the front lawn for about 3 weeks until about a week ago- didn't bother me at all.

CazEM · 08/03/2010 19:57

Sorry to hear about your row girlsayear - rant away, that is what we are here for!!

cazzybabs · 08/03/2010 20:27

bloody hell a hair in the lunch - what ever next!!!!! It is a good thing she is not my mother...god my mother is lucky if all she finds is a hair ... and poor old dh is regularly removing them

Oh gosh we are about to have our bathroom refitted - from what I have read on here I shall REALLLLY look forward to it (not)

BTW I am not on the list - so I guess that makes 56 of us.

My boss asked me today how long I was planning on having off - cheeky cow. I said I hope a year but who knows. I should have said 3 months!

girlsyearapart · 08/03/2010 20:32

And in my defence I had only just washed my hair so it was clean at least..

Aussieng · 08/03/2010 21:15

Evening all - welcome Angel, belated birthday wishes CazEM. Just a quick hello as super tired. Have just eaten a lovely shepherd's pie made by DH tonight - I wouldn't care at all if I found a hair in it, it's just lovely to have him home in time for dinner and even lovlier that someone is cooking for me. Don't blame you for being ticked off GYP - I hate it when people don't let things go.

Cazzy - ate my work it is apparently forbidden to ask people how long they are planning to take off before they go - this is seen as undue pressure.

Had a tiring day - did not sleep well last night as my cat had a really swollen paw so had to take her to the vets and was quite worried. She is the quieter of our two cats and was super cute - she kept showing me her paw and I felt horrible not being able to just make it better for her. Anyway, she has brightened up after some anti-biotics. Also I had a dental appt which I was quite worried about as I have not been for over 4 years [coward emoticon]. Thought I might as well take advantage of the free mat care if I had neglected anything too badly but fortunately all was well so hopefully I shall sleep better tonight.

I will be team blue or pink and will hopefully find out which tomorrow!

cazzybabs · 08/03/2010 21:25

well i am not sure they are allowed to ask you..but this is the person who forced me to go in unpaid to work unpaid whilst i was on maternity leave for half a day and made me feel guilty when i refused tp stay the whole day AND asked me if i was pregnant AND asked my friend if she was having IVF

neenz · 08/03/2010 21:56

Grr - just lost my post!

Cazzy, I'd be having a word with HR about her.

Cherry, can I be nosey and ask why they won't let you go to the birthing unit, and if you are under CLU care can you have a homebirth?

I am gutted - I have been watching a T3 jogger pram on ebay (it is a twin pram with a toddler seat on the front) and I was going to nip in at the end as there had been no bids at all. But I misread the end time of the auction - I thought it was 9.49pm but it was 9.29 and I missed it! Stupid pregnancy brain. It went for £350 in the end as well - they are £550 new and quite rare to find second hand What an idiot I am. But I figure it just wasn't meant to be. I'm sure we'll find another

ElusiveMoose · 09/03/2010 08:04

Morning all.

Thanks for the tip on Mothercare swimsuits - I'll go and have a look later. Guess I'll just have to sell the other one on ebay again . Harrumph.

Quick question to all you 2+ timers - what are you planning to do about toddler transport? DS will be 2 years 11 months when the baby's born, and I can't decide whether to get a double buggy or a buggy board or what. I hardly ever use the stroller any more, but once DS starts at pre-school in June, it's a 25 minute walk (at my pace). We certainly won't walk it all the time, but it would be nice to have the option. At the moment I'm thinking I'll take the baby in the sling and have DS in the stroller, and then see how I feel once the baby's too big for a sling - but not sure what will happen if I have to have a section and can't carry the sling........ Anyone else got other bright ideas for what they're going to do??

girlsyearapart · 09/03/2010 08:13

we have a phil and teds so dd2 will sit in it the seat and dc3 will be in the lie down bit.. dd1 will just have to walk. She'll also be 2.11 ish when the baby arrives.

Buggy board is on our list of things to get but don't think they work on the p and t when it's in lie down mode.

Hopefully she'll become a whizz on her scooter

Sling not an option I am so clumsy, the only times i borrowed one to try it out i just couldn't co ordinate myself to get baby onto it, then onto me amd was so paranoid about falling over onto the baby I ended up holding the baby around the sling and going slower than i ever had before

Chulita · 09/03/2010 08:13

Morning all!
Argh! A day to go til the scan and I can't wait I'm also looking forward to Thursday when I have a chat with the consultant about VBAC. I'm hoping it'll all be positive!
One of my friends just had a successful VBAC this morning so I'm feeling all geared up for it...I'm sure it'll fade by the time this one gets here.
I finally get to take DD to the toddler group again after keeping her away from children while she was ill. I need to see people!
Hope everyone gets some sunshine today

bouncingblueberries · 09/03/2010 08:50

Good luck for your scan today aussie - how exciting!

Re toddler transport - my ds is a bit older (4 in April) but we have found a scooter absolutely brilliant for the past 3 months. He got it for Christmas but I really wish we'd bought one sooner. He adores it and rarely leaves the house without it. We do have to hold on to the back of his jacket when going down hills (he's a speed freak already ) but can't recommend them enough. Makes the 15-20 minute walk to nursery soooo much easier.

Decided I'm going to see the dr this afternoon. This cough is getting ridiculous. I feel so crap and breathless and have to cross my legs every time a coughing fit starts Not good.

chulita good luck with your VBAC discussion.

Chulita · 09/03/2010 08:59

aussie, sorry, completely missed the bit about your scan today! Have fun
blueberries I hope they can give you something for it. I had a cough/sore throat over New Year and it was murder I did find glycerine in hot water/honey/lemon helped a bit.

Rubena · 09/03/2010 09:12

I will only have 2 but have the P&T - really like it with the cocoon for the newborn etc so I'll get the double attachment seat for the front.
Sorry Neenz - i've done that a million times on Ebay, even when not pg!

Cosmosis · 09/03/2010 09:15

aussie good luck for your scan today!

CherryPie3 · 09/03/2010 10:12

Morning lovelies

Aussie Good luck with your scan today hun And I hope your kitty's better.

GYA Did your mum even say sorry, or thank you? Theres no need to be that picky - you cleary didn't do it on purpose!!

Neenz I can;t go to the birthing unit cos my BMI is over 35 (have re-calculated it and it's come out at 38) - midwife has put on my notes that it's 41!!!! I believed her until I saw that she's got my height wrong, she's put me down at 5'6 but I'm actually closer to 5'8 (5'7 and a half) and weight 255lbs .
I'm under Consultant care for a prem delivery at 35 wks, but when/if I get to 37 weeks CLU will be irrelevant. I subsequently then carried a baby to term and am expecting to do the same this time. I wouldn't mind using the shiny new MLU at Pontefract tbh, dh not at all keen on homebirth! He says he wants the excitement of driving to the hospital whilst I'm contracting, bless him. I can't deny him that really - all the other decisions are mine.
I don't mind you being nosey at all

Chulita YAY for your friends VBAC!!! And good luck with discussions for yours

Woke up to a cheshire cat-like grin from dh this morning. Apparently whilst I was asleep and snuggled into his back the baby was kicking him

OP posts:
growingbump2 · 09/03/2010 10:18

Good luck for today Aussie, am excited to see if you are team blue or pink! Did anyone else find with their other DC that ante-natal groups were mostly all one sex, in my aqua natal group we had 9 boys and 1 girl.
New mothercare opened near us on Thursday, am looking forward to a spending spree! Our house has been up for sale since Wednesday fingers crossed we have some viewers soon! Is anyone else moving during pregnancy?

bouncingblueberries · 09/03/2010 10:25

oh! that happened in my antenatal class too! 5 boys and only 1 girl. It that quite a common trend then?

marzipananimal · 09/03/2010 10:30

growingbump we're moving but we're only renting so it's a lot easier. Not looking forward to all the packing though!

cherry that's so sweet about baby kicking DH! I can't wait to feel mine (16+5 now but first baby so might have to wait a few more weeks)
