Oh great news Beks! Are you sure of your dates or did you have long cycles or something? I agree with Tex, they do get hung up over growth charts both before birth and after. I was told Joe had 'stopped' growing at 36 weeks so they delivered at 37 and he was 6lb 12 - not a bad weight I thought!

Chacha where are you off too?? Are you going away?

Diddle, We'll keep everything crossed for you

Right better be off, I'm at work in half an hour, speak to you all tomorrow

Thanks girls,

Diddle lovely to hear from you, wow six days late sounds positive, I will keep everything crossed for you that you get the news you want later this month - that would make you an April baby wouldn't it?

Chacha, enjoy your holiday and get plenty of rest.
Thanks for asking about my dad, we've had a bit of a nightmare today as he was supposed to go back to the hospital for the all clear and then drive to Spain this evening but they have said that it is a lot worse than they first thought and it is likely that something really serious could happen to his eye within the next two months so they need to stay here for him to be seen in 2 weeks, while they unearth his notes.

Amazingly it has nothing to do with Ben hitting him in the eye and that him doing so has purely by chance brought a serious situation to light, would hate to think what would have happened if he had been driving to or from Spain and his retina had detached.

Tex glad that this appears to be the norm re sizes, I've been puzzling about it all afternoon and then I looked at the head circumference which was 240mm and I thought that gave me more to worry about - ouch
Not sure about the vernix, I think they are more covered in it the longer they stay in there, my brother was nearly a fortnight late and mum said he was disgusting & looked like he could do with a good scrub!
Think it's all in the lap of the gods anyway & to be honest if I go past 37 weeks I'll feel hard done by as it was all over bar the shouting at that time with Ben!

BEKsmum · 21/07/2005 19:14

Sorry Rodeo, was typing when you posted, I know Ben was conceived 21st February, only opportunity that month so I made the 7th November my due date, but when I went for my Nuchal they said it was under developed and moved me to the 13th - so god knows, seems like a big baby for the latter dates though - eek!

Have a good night at work, don't work too hard.

CADS · 21/07/2005 19:25

Evening everyone

DH is going to be hogging the computer so I have jumped on quickly to check how everyone is doing.

BEKS - Glad to hear the scan went well sounds like you are going to have a nice sized baby. Our baby was convinced 20/21st of Feb, pretty confident of the date because I have always be regular and can tell when I ovulate). Date everyone has given me is the 12th and seems pretty consistent with all everything. Also, hope they revolve your dads problem soon at least you get to have them around for longer.

Chacha - Have a nice weekend. So is that it, has worked completely finished for you now, are you now a SAHM?

Tex111 - Love Cache Cache too, brought loads there last time, but was working and could afford it (mainly work stuff). Going this weekend in the hope I can find something nice to wear to a bbq next weekend. Feeling frumpy in everything I've got at the moment.

Diddle - Fingers crossed!!

Take care

Glad you had a good scan BEKS.
At the moment I've got the 4th, 7th and 10th November as possible due dates. I'm pretty sure that 10th is right and will really argue the toss if they start to count from the 4th!! Tessa turned up 2 days early so I'm hoping for the same again as I really want a home birth this time.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, must be worrying times.

BEKsmum · 22/07/2005 09:48

Cads, I see what you mean about the dates as they were conceived at the same time, the only thing is, I have a mad 38ish day cycle so as such shouldn't really have been pregnant at all - all very confusing!

Tessa, like you not too worried as bump will come when it wants anyway and high blood pressure is bound to play apart in it - I think I just like playing Russian Roulette

The only thing I don't want is the earliest date and then to go 3 weeks early like I did with Ben 'cos this would make the baby due in the same week as dh's b'day and I really wouldn't want them to share.

It is a worry with my dad but on a selfish note it's fantastic to have them around for another two weeks as I was dreading having to run around after Ben for the whole of the 6 weeks holiday, now I've only got to worry about the last 4!!!

Have a good day all, I'm glad it's cloudy as I think I'll take Ben over the park for a ride on his bike. Beks (23+5 or 25ish!)

tex111 · 22/07/2005 11:20

Hi gals, had my first scare last night and ended up in the delivery ward for a few hours. I was sitting on the couch and suddenly had a terrible pain in my lower belly. It was excrutiating. I had to kneel down on the floor and even then I thought I was either going to pass out or throw up. It passed after a few seconds and I called NHS Direct, then the Labour Ward and they asked me to go in.

I kept thinking about things like the placenta pulling away but there was no bleeding. After an exam and some tests they said they thought it was just a muscle cramp or spasm and to call them if it happened again. Lots of talk about my 'big baby' and I had to go give blood this morning for some more tests. They want to make sure I'm not developing gestational diabetes, which I really don't think I am. I just have big babies. Tobes was the same, in fact he was bigger. Absolutely fine today.

BEKs, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's eye. Thank goodness they found the problem when they did. I'm sure you're enjoying having them for a bit longer. Must be an unexpected treat. Hope everything turns out OK.

Diddle, good luck!

CADS · 22/07/2005 11:28

Beks - I not blame you for wanting your parents around for longer (especially being pregnant). I only see my folks 1/2 times per year and we aren't close to my inlaws so we don't get make help/support.

Tex111 - God hope you are ok. Sounds really scare, I hope it doesn't happen again. Take it easy (of you can) over the weekend. And hope all the tests are negative.

Have a mad spring cleaning morning. Got the chiropractor this afternoon so might has well do the damage and have him fix it later.

Busy - How are you doing haven't see you on here for a while. Did you see my bad parenting bit?

Have a fantastic weekend everyone.

By the way getting quite nervous now and then , as first baby, anyone else ??

LilJ · 22/07/2005 12:53

Haven't been on for a while as went on holiday (the day London blew up). Went to Corsica which was fab! Loved swimming in sea with bump providing extra buoyancy! Only regret was that I couldn't scuba dive in my condition. DH went down and saw a wrecked B17 which sounded facsinating.

Anway back now and London still very tense. Thankfully I drive everywhere so don't have to take tube or buses very often.

Had a funny thing happen yesterday. Went to my first midwife app't at the clinic down the road from me and when I got there was told to go straight on through, so went into a room with about 8 other very pregnant women and was given a piece of paper which had a question about health visitors on it, which I thought was a bit weird. So after a few minutes a woman started to talk and asked us to answer our questions one by one about the role of the health visitor. She then went onto to discuss post-natal depression and by this time I'm thinking it's very odd that a midwife app't comes with this lecture and my bladder is bursting as I'm expecting to have to pee in a cup any minute now. Tea break comes and the guy sitting next to me says - I haven't seen you at these classes before are you new? Yup - I'd been in sitting in the pre-natal class for those due in August! Luckily the midwife thought it was quite funny and didn't tell me off too much for missing my app't - and now I know I can miss class 4 when I start the classes myself.

Otherwise feeling very well and really enjoying being pregnant right now. Baby moving around a lot and do look like I'm glowing (but could just be the holiday tan).

rodeo1 · 22/07/2005 16:35

Hi everyone,

Snap CADS, had a mad cleaning day today too, and the house finally feels clean at last!

DD missed her last day of school, she's been off for a few days now actually. Been to the doctors today who says she's got a 'virus'. She's not eating much as she's got little sore blisters down the back of her throat Hope she's better soon as we're going away on Sunday for a short break.

Keep getting cramps in my feet and calves - it's sooo painful and aches for ages afterwards. Any one else suffering?

Sorry to hear about your scare Tex, I think I would have been a wreck! So glad everything's well now though, they thought I had GD with ds so had the glucose test but everything fine, I'm sure you'll be the same

Sounds like a wonderful holiday LilJ! Great to hear your feeling so well, not feeling to bad myself recently, not quite as tired as usual, and your right a tan does make you look glowing! Quite happy with my appearance at the mo (for a change!)

Ooh Beks, sounds like you might have an October baby too! I don't want to be the only one!!

Nice to hear from Sharon and Hamster Glad your both ok Where did Chacha go? Think I missed that!

Well I'm going to go and fill my face now, feeling starving, must be all that cleaning!

Evening girls,

Tex what a fright, glad to hear that you are ok now though, hope the tests come back ok.

Cads it really is a bonus having mum & dad around for longer, I was dreading the 6 weeks holiday but would never have asked them to stay to help, but now they're here I'll be making full use of them. It must be hard with your parents in South Africa, I hate it & my mum's only in Spain! I get on ok with my in laws but only see them a couple of times a year as they live in Wales - just far enough away (hee hee)

So are you lot just trying to make me feel bad, manic cleaning and healthy glows - my house is a tip and you can play dot to dot on my face

Rodeo would say there's every chance of me being an October mum and no you can't throw me and my super long messages off - I refuse to go
How's Bella feeling now, bet she was miffed to miss the last day.

Haven't suffered with the cramps myself but was given some lovely foot spray & foot massage cream from Boots especially for pregnant women, you could get dh to rub some of that in for you to help improve your circulation.

Right best go and feed myself as babysitting for a friend this evening, speak to you all tomorrow. Beks

CADS · 22/07/2005 19:10

Sharon - Being nervous is normal. Use to have panic type attackes every now and then when pregnant with ds and still get them second time round too. It will all be fine in the end. How's work been these days?

LilJ - Good to hear from you. Sounds like you had a fantastic holiday. A bit of your tan. I tend to stay out of the sun when I am pregnant because my skin goes really dark and blotchy (look like dirty stains).

Hamster - Hope your ds allows you some peaceful sleep.

Rodeo - Sorry to hear your dd isn't well, hope she gets better soon. Enjoy your time away. Where you off too?

Right going to put ds to bed.

ChaCha · 22/07/2005 19:23

Hi everyone!
It was my last day of work today I can't believe it's all over .. Students compiled an anthology of poems, messages and all kinds of keepsakes, it broke my heart, am going to miss them so much! Some of the girls had sewn together patchwork pieces to make a quilt for the baby..each piece a dummy, ABC, bottle, nappy etc.. it is the sweetest gift i've ever had, even DH was impressed. Aww...I am now officially stay at home!!! Yikes

Had hoped to be leaving tonight but am far too tired. Rodeo we're off to Wales (my DH is Welsh). We're hoping to do a few day trips here and there and spend time with some friends. My inlaws are going on holiday so we're taking advantage of having house to ourselves and just getting a break.

Tex - glad all is well.

Beks - How's dad? A blessing in disguise i think, and lucky you having them around a little longer than anticipated - do hope that he'll be well.

Enthusia - are you celebrating tonight? Haven't seen you here for ages. Hopefully you'll be full of life tomorrow and will post.

Love to you all. Time to raid the fridge xxxx

tessasmum · 22/07/2005 20:15

BEKS - Tessa was due the day after DH birthday. He spent the whole pg telling the bump not to arrive on his birthday (as well as telling it that Marmite was yuck - we have one of those love it, hate it things in our family) In the end she turned up the day before his birthday so he still got to spend most of it in hospital but did have a lovely present

Tex - I got tested for the diabetes thing last time but got the all clear. For me it was almost the worst thing of the whole pg as you have to drink about a litre of Lucozade and I HATE fizzy drinks. There were about 8 of us there, mainly older, non-pg people, and myself and this tiny little old lady took forever to drink the foul stuff!

However the worst thing was the leg cramps which I had forgotten about completely until last night when they reappeared Think I'd blotted them from my memory actually as they are really nasty - I would wake up cramping and yelling and wake up the woman in the flat downstairs Then they would ache for about 4 days afterwards. DH never experienced them as he was away for 2 weeks at a time throughout most of the last pg so he was a bit shocked last night!
You usually get told that it is lack of salt though I know it wasn't last time as I was eating Marmite crisps like they were going out of fashion (and I don't usually eat crisps) I've have read on here that it may be lack of calcium and that a milky drink before bed can help - bring on the cocoa!!

Rodeo - is it you who are off camping? If so have a great time, Tessa LOVES camping so we are hopefully off to Devon to see my sister in a week or two. Need to get as many trips in before it becomes too hard for me! We always go away in the middle of September for about 10 days. I'm still planning to go but may end up in a B&B for some of it - clutching my antenatal notes!! Anyone know anything about maternity care in Bristol - I do want a homebirth but not necessarily in a field full of jugglers

ChaCha - Sounds like you have some lovely students, what a great present. You enjoy your break too and don't plan too much for all the time you think you will have on your hands. It goes quickly and it will be the last time you have on your own to do your own thing.

Ok going to stop loooonnong post before I break BEKS record

24 weeks (maybe!)

rodeo1 · 23/07/2005 10:56

Morning girls!

Just a quick pop on, supposed to be doing a bit of online banking before we go away tomorrow. Yes it is us camping Tessasmum! Going up to Robin Hoods Bay - my dad has hired a cottage up there at the same time which will be handy. Tent is brill, my dad can even stand up in it and he's 6'2"! Really easy to put up too - which is a bonus! Where abouts in Devon will you be going? Used to go to Devon all the time for our hols (around Totnes and Dartmouth) when we were growing up and loved it

BTW my glucose test was a gloopy syrup (but only about 30mls) Yuk - not sure which is worse!!

Thanks for the tips on the cramps girls, will start having nightly massages off dp and Horlicks too - sound like very nice remedies!

Chacha have a lovely time in Wales, where abouts are you going? My dp is Welsh too (with a very Welsh name to match!) and we're off to Wales at the end of the summer hols!

Beks nice to hear you've still got your parents around, hope his eye will be ok. Don't feel glowing today, was at work last night and it was soooo busy! We've got the motorcycle grand prix down our way this weekend, so after clearing up having a quick grapefruit & soda, and getting home and catching up on BB finally got into bed around 2. My eye's are so gritty. Dp's brother's just been round and I'm still in my dressing gown, no make-up and my hair is like a birds nest - and I don't care! And the house is slowly getting trashed again (why do I bother?!)

Right this is getting long again!

If I don't get on later I'll catch up with you all on Weds, have a lovely weekend all!

Wow, its REALLY quiet on here!

Tessa reduced me to tears yesterday by hugging the bump and saying "nice baby in all the world" I just hope she feels that way when its out and taking over her world

BEKsmum · 24/07/2005 19:07

Evening girls,

Just back from a friends little boys christening which was really nice, even the vicar managed to have a sense of humour as he soaked all the kids with batism water - that's the closest Ben' ever going to get!

Tessa, how sweetis your little one, Ben keeps coming over to kiss the baby at the moment I'm just waiting for a well time kick now.

Had the strangest dream that I had seven babies at once last night 5 boys & 2 girls, all very odd, glad it's not true!!!

Hope you're all having a good weekend, speak to you tomorrow. Beks 24 weeks(ish)

Good afternoon,
Phew, what a mad weekend. Sister in law had her baby.2 weeks early-lucky moo! I am absolutely knackered from all the excitment.
I can but hope mine comes early! Went almost 2 weeks over with ds.

Anyway...good weekend everyone? Crap weather though that's the only downer. Hopefully it'll start to brighten up again soon.

Baby is really kicking now, to the extent that for most of the day it feels like I have a tummy full of eels! It's all the time!
I have my appointment with the midwife on Thursday-I'm dying to hear the heart beat again, it's definitely the best bit! I haven't seen her since my 12 week appointment, so it'll be good to check all is well and normal.

Well, I'm seriously tired and struggling to keep my eyes open, so I'll get ds down for his lunchtime nap after he's eaten and get some shut-eye myself! hehe

Hope you're all well
Catch you later

Poor DH got it all again after it was over.
Thanks for words of comfort CADS sure all will be fine.
Need some sleep tonight, work just the same stressful and dragging but only 10 weeks and 4 days now !

Hi all

Christening seaon I see - hope they all went well

Just popped in to say hello before we go off on holiday for 5 days - no where exotic I'm afraid, just the Highlands, but hoping for good weather.

Is anyone else feeling ...well...rather pregnant now?? I feel like my bump has suddenly grown enormous in the last week and I'm starting to make strange noises when i get up from a chair or bend to pick something off the floor. Also have serious munchies and having to dispatch Dh downstairs late at night for emergency bowls of cereal

Sorry if this sounds very trivial to those of you with serious worries but if you cant moan here.....

babyonboard · 25/07/2005 18:57

I was going to delay updating until i'm in better mood but just can't resist...
so sorry for being totally self absorbed here..but
just got back from a week with my parents, which was lovely as i have been diagnosed with SPD and enjoyed the care and attention.
only to find the flat in a complete state. i left it spotless and dh and flatmate must have regressed to their student days as it is a total pig-sty...at least three days of takeaways on coffee table, three rubbish bags in hall, unmade and unwashed beds, and dirty clothes everywhere, the hover hasn't moved, the sink and surrounds are piled with dishes..not to mention the bathroom.
i am especially angry as i dashed back this afternoon as we were having our flat valued for sale, and i had to cancel as i am in no fit state to be cleaning up after other people..(and dp knew full well that we had this appointment)
to make things worse, dp just called and said 'great you are home, so i can let you know i'm going out for a few pints after work'
argh...
