GruffaloSoldier · 22/03/2010 08:27

Morning everyone!

Diege - that sounds rubbish! wishing you a speedy recovery!

Well we have had a very busy few days!!

Friday we went to BF house to see her and her DD, who is 5 months. Then we got home at 4pm and went out again at 6pm, taking GC with us to see some friends for dinner and played Rock Band, while GC slept in his pushchair in the hall. it was a really good night.

Saturday I was really hungover in the morn so DH let me sleep and took GC out to the softplay and then we both went to a first birthday party in the afternoon and had a lovely time Sunday we had a lazy morning with lie ins and then went to the local nature reserve for a nice walk in the afternoon. It was a lovely day for it! So a lovely weekend indeed but very busy.

GC is full of beans as usual. running round the room waving a sock around like a lasso!

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

maxxymoosmummy · 22/03/2010 08:48

cantmummyhaveabreak · 22/03/2010 11:00

Morning, morning....

Just done the food shop- hoping it'll last us throguh till easter weekend (god knows i bought enough to) as we're going away for easter and it'd be a pain to have to do a food shop for only a couple of days!!

DH is working late today so we also got up and bathed the DC's before school this morning to save me having to do it alone tonight... then he's off tomorrow so that'll be fine. I hate him doing lates- changed our whole days dynamics!!

DC's are on fish fingers and veg for tea, and then me and DH are on chicken, chips & curry sauce- dont ask but i just woke up fancying it!!

Had a busy weekend- Friends came over (the same friends we're staying with over easter) and we went for a nice pub lunch- trip to the park was cancelled due to rain so the boys played on the Wii while us girls had lots of chatting!! These are the same friends i'm considering being a surrogate for... wondering wether to broach the subject with them while we're over for easter!! Bit exciting and scary at the same time!!... They ahve no idea about what i'm going to offer them... i mean they know i was going to be a surrogate, and then they knew me while having DD2... but they've been very good friends all that time even thought i've never been an 'available surrogate' and they are fab. they just want to be friends with us... so i think helping them become a family would be an amazing gift to them... and it could make our friendship even stronger!! I mean we're going to have spent 5 days with them within 3 weeks by DD1's birthday!! It aint just any old friend who can put up with 3 loopy kids that aint their own for that amount of time!!

Erm....

Anyway.....

Diege- sorry for poorlies. Though it's kinda lucky most of you are ill IYKWIM... nothing worse than being ill and all the DC's bouncing all over... and you and DH can share the load...

GS- GC sounds very cute with his sock!!

Tink- I'm gonna be honest in saying I think the train set is a bit more 'unisex' looking... but i think the garage would get more use out of it...

Hello everyone else.

Glad you are in a good mood Tink! Shopping sounds good.

Cant - enjoy your bath! great about the surrogacy!

Diege - hope you are feeling better!

Hi to anyone else lurking!

GBL - hope SG enjoyed her first birthday

maxxymoosmummy · 22/03/2010 21:11

evening all, not been on due to applying for a job today so was out of the house most of the day. hope everyone is well.
got an interview tommorro very excited, but need to get some black pants first ting tomoro.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/03/2010 07:55

morning all!!

Smithy- thats a Dilemma and a half- not really sure what to suggest....

We're off to try and find some pretty dresses for the DD's for easter sunday... I had bought them matching outfits, but got DD2's in 9-12... she's still only in 6-9 so think i want new dresses so they can both wear them on the day. So the one i had already bought them will be put away for DD2's birthday, and just an extra outfit for Dd2 in her 9-12mth wardrobe. Had seen some very pretty ones in the sainsbury's magazine- but only realised this morning that they only come in 9-12 so not small enough... think i'm gonna go look in next and asda- george have some very cute caracter outfits so might just get one of them.

then got DS's friend over for tea after school. Macdonalds is on the menu!!

DD2's app is tomorrow too- starting to get really worried about what they might find wrong...

tinkstoddleriswalking · 23/03/2010 08:54

morning maxx,gruff and cant

cant - good luck finding dresses

tesco isnt too bad!!

sure appmnt will be ok

off to sing and sign here

Diege · 23/03/2010 08:57

Morning! Feeling slightly better but still off work. Hope to be back in tomorrow..
CANT don't you dare worry about tomorrow's appoint! There is absolutely nothing wrong with dd2 - they are just ticking meaningless boxes!
SMITHY! Good to hear from you and congrats on ttc-ing no.4 (is it no.4?). Re: dilemma, I would absolutely keep dcs away, though let them come to you. Think you have some good advice on the thread, with the odd nutcase thrown in for good measure . Do feel for you - what a horrible position to be in.
MMM best of luck for the interview - can I ask what job it's for?

NatalieJane · 23/03/2010 08:59

Morning

Goodness me, it has been quiet, thought I'd have tonnes to catch up!

As per, can barely remember what I've read but...

Diege, sorry for the latest round of poorlies - doesn't sound like much fun at all Hope you're all on the mend today.

MMM, good luck today with your interview, very exciting

Smithy, again no real advice, but I would feel the same as you. I would stay away as much as poss, and keep contact to somewhere else other than the GP's house, you really don't need to be caught up in anything in your situation. Very exciting about TTCing

Can't, (I still go to type Glask ) I am sure tomorrow's appointment will be fine, and if they do pull something out of the hat, then you can either take it with a pinch of salt or if it is something that you are more concerned about then at least she'll be in their radar and will be seen to and in the long run helped.

We've had fun DS1's party went reall well on Friday, everyone had a good time and behaved really well, which was great considering we had 10 boys between the two of us! Then Saturday he had his pressies, most of which were for outside and guess what? It rained all day! Sunday he spent his bday money on a mobile, still not sure it was a good move but he is very sensible and knows not to give the number out etc. he is only using it to go on the internet and text his friends/cousins so I'm happy with that.

Then yesterday DH had his snip. Bless him, he was so brave (I know he's nearly 40 not 4 but he was!) he is a bit tender but doing OK. It was hilarious when we got back though, one of the tubes was really difficult to find apparently so the doctor had to really dig around for it (15min op turned into an hour and a half), he warned DH that he was likely to be very bruised, so to put an ice pack on when we got home, so put icecubes into a nappy bag,(all we had!) tied it up and wrapped it in a towel, DH put it down his trollies and was lying down on the floor, then he suddenly jumped up almost screaming, he looked like his arse was on fire, the ice had melted, seeped out of the nappy bag and suddenly run down his arse crack! Freezing cold water on his bum, his jeans were soaked, we were absolutely creased up. And I drove him all the way Skelmersdale and back, it was great, I am enjoying driving again

Today the car has gone in to have it's bits done! This time the key, the glow plugs and the air con, Evans Halshaw are bastards y'know, when we got the Mondeo from them it needed a new key (the second key they gave us didn't even go with the car!) it needed a new clutch and something else that I can't remember, both the Mondeo and our Zafira were serviced and had their 101 safety point check thing apparently, how do they miss these things?

Oh and we have spent the weekend melting, the heating isn't knocking off, the radiators are just on constantly, and with it being a bit warmer outside it is baking!

Right, think that's me caught up, don't know when I'll get back on, it may well be Thursday now when DH goes back to work. Lets hope the sun stays out and all of the poorlies that are still lingering sod off!

Have a good day everyone x (MMM, will keep my fingers crossed for you today)

Playingatmotherhood · 23/03/2010 09:16

Morning all,

Trying to remember what I've just read but virtually forgotten it all after Smithys thread!

Smithy - YANBU of course, you have to do what you feel is right and bring your children up in a way you are happy with. If you don't want them to be exposed to growing and selling drugs (and apart from the few wierd ones that always seem to hang out on AIBU threads surely no one would want their kids exposed to that) I would keep them away. Oh and congrats on ttcing again, I think we're going to have a busy wagon on that front again as we'll be ttcing again very shortly as soon as my body recovers from my recent MC.

Can't - echo what Deige says - apt will be fine.

Deige - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.

Tink - have fun at Sign and Sign

Hi Gruff, GBL and anyone else lurking.

Diege · 23/03/2010 10:14

NAT psml at your dh and the water episode Did he see the funny side of it? . Your party sounds like it went well too - must have been a daunting prospect with 10 of them.
PLAYING, how are you feeling? Agree, I think there will be a good list-full of ttc-ers over the next few months. Still not sure if I be on it though..the sickness etc over the past few weeks has been a real reminder of just how debilitating pregnancy is for me in the early months.
TINK - enjoy your class!
Trying to get more things listed on e-bay this morning - I'd forgotten how dull e-baying is!

essenceofSES · 23/03/2010 12:56

Hello! Just finished a morning at work and quickly downing a jacket potato before picking O up.

Smithy - I think you are right to stand your ground and not take DC over there. Is your DH supporting you? I can imagine it must be a v difficult situation all round.

Nat - I'm sorry but that image of your DH and ice cubes in a nappy sack melting and trickling into his back side really made me laugh

Diege - hope you continue to feel better and remain bug free for a long while!

MMM - big day! Hope it goes well

Cant - I always type "Cant" and think "Glask" too!
If they dare give you any worry or grief tomorrow, they'll have the wagon to answer to!

Hello Playing, Gruff, tink, GBL, Star and anyone else lurking!

Had a big shop at work this morning as I got paid yesterday. Nothing at all exciting - nappies, toiletries, etc but it felt good to have some money to spend again!

gingerbreadlatte · 23/03/2010 14:50

Afternoon ladies
Sorry for absence, it?s been a really busy few days  Will be a short post as I?m at work.

I?ve been keeping track but not posting so I?ve forgotten most of what?s been said sorry?

Gruff ? your w/e sounds good . How did you manage to attend a kids party with a hangover ?? quite an achievement!
Ses- hurray for getting paid and doing the shop. Nothing like spending hard earned money 
Diege- sorry for bugs. You have my FULL sympathy. 

Smithy- read your other thread quickly. YANBU? but it?s a tricky thing to sort. Hope you can get some resolution.

Hi Playing, Tink, MMM, Nat and everyone else.

We?ve had a lovely weekend celebrating SGs birthday . In reverse order- yesterday was the actual date of SG?s birthday and so DH and I took her to the Aquarium, We had a fab day out and she was on top form. And none of us were ill! Quite a miracle these days 
Sunday- we had my dad & step mum for bday lunch for the SG.
Saturday- we had a huge party shared with my NCT group, so all in all there were 7 babies, 14 adult hosts and everyone?s guests Think we must have had 70 or 80 people.

Its so weird thinking of a year ago since childbirth? made me feel quite keen to have more. Its amazing how you forget the pain and initial few weeks of exhaustion. 

Tonight we are going out to work out how we split the costs?. hope that doesn?t end in a disagreement!

Back at work today and feeling relaxed after a long weekend.

Will be back on tomorrow

gingerbreadlatte · 23/03/2010 15:02

Another quick one- just wondered what you guys think- I could do an AIBU but I?d get ripped to shreds!

Friday night I was wrapping a pass the parcel for the party. We had a friend over (DH?s best man). He looked at me kneeling on the floor trying to get the bloody thing wrapped and said- ?Gingerbreadlatte, you really are such a mum now? In fact, before that he said, ?you used to be a MILF (hope that?s not offensive, I quite like the expression!!can explain it to anyone who doesn?t know what I mean) but now you are a mum?

It was meant well and I think it was only said without thinking but I felt slightly offended by the mum bit?.. I know that I AM a mum and everything?. this sounds silly now ?but I struggled to see how me wrapping presents made me mumsy?.. which is where his comment was going.

Was I being silly? Think I probably am ? but the basis of my offence was that I struggle hard to separate my roles out- to be mother, to be an employee at work and then to be a wife. I thought I was successfully filling the wife role that evening so to be told I was mumsy kind of upset me?.

Anyone still with me- think its about trying to be me and not just a mum all the time?thought I?d ask some other ladies what they thought. Even my DH got why it bothered me- and he doesn?t really do sympathy or empathy?.

Diege · 23/03/2010 15:50

GING, I get why it bothered you - it would bother me BIG TIME and I'm sure your dh's friend knew the effect it would have MUM compared to MILF reads basically 'mumsy',and I don't know anyone that wants 'mumsy' to be an adjective applied to them. Bits of it ok, but not as a self-defining label if that makes sense? It would make me shudder
SES, hope you got to the park (in a totally non-mumsy way of course . Throwing it down here...

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/03/2010 16:15

GBL- i get you... but i suppose it's a long time since i've looked anything like a MILF... I dont mind being mumsy... but i can get how and why it would offend.

Ses- i had some retail therapy too- little more exciting than toiletries etc, but it's so good being able to spend!!

So... onto the retail therapy- went to asda- nothing that looked good enough quality that i liked... went to debenhams and next- liked a lot, but was undecided... went to M£S and they had a massive mid-season sale on... got DD1 a pretty dress set, DD2 a dress set and some leather slippers/shoes, and DS some school shoes all for £24... there was a stunning jumper dress i wanted for DD2 but it wasn't her size- so talked DH into taking me to preston store after lunch, same dress not in her size again, but managed to again get DD2 a dungaree set, some pink skinny jeans, Ds a set of mr men undies and a jumper... all for only £16!! was very impressed with my shopping skills!

As for DD2's appointment... i really really hope there's nothing to worry about, but i've worked out she's at the 'development' of a baby half her age... just makes me wonder... before this referral i just kept saying 'she'll catch up in her own time' but now i'm getting anxious that it's not just a matter of catching up!! Hard to explain, as even though i dont think there's anything wrong with her... i wonder if there's anything i'm unaware of... We'll find out in the morning tho...

Moosy · 23/03/2010 16:55

GBL, I totally get it. I guess normally your friend sees you as a working, organised, in control, standing up woman who happens to have a baby. As soon as you're at floor level doing baby/child things you become the on-the-floor, getting your hands dirty Mum. I would take it as an insult, but I can kind of see how saying you're a proper mum was meant as a compliment, but saying you're not a MILF anymore? Why not just come out with it and say you've let yourself go?! And from what I've seen of your photos on FB I'd say you're retaining the milf status rather well actually!
