Hello! Sounds like everyone's had a great Mothering Sunday

After the non-event of my birthday, I made it clear to DH that I expected a card and present today. He did well
He got O up and changed whilst I slept in til 9am. When I woke up, there was a card on the shelf in the bedroom for me to open and then there were 3 wrapped presents placed around the house for me to find - a plant with a bear, a book and a CD.
O and I then went off to church and then popped in to see my mum. This afternoon DH, O and I went to a nearby pub for a meal which was nice.

O is still not eating properly because of his gums but he's being v brave. It does mean that he's upped his BF a bit so no hope of AF arriving!

O has started clapping this weekend but instead of moving his hands from side to side and meeting in the middle, he moves them up and down so they meet in the middle!

Moos - LOL at no one "helping". Sounds a busy day for a mothers day though!
Have you noticed any improvement with the thrush yet?

MMM - poor DS Hope the rash clears up and he perks up soon.

Tink - I love a new dressing gown! Is it big and fluffy or silky and slinky?!

Rugby - yay for C taking some formula from a bottle.

Ginger - hope DD doesn't succumb to any illness. IKWYM about driving at the wkend after driving all week. Must be difficult though if your mum doesn't drive.
Must be strange thinking back to last year's mothers day!

Gruff - hope GC's cough is a bit better now and he has a good night.
Don't keep us in suspense... when do you think you'll ttc#2 now?!

Kay - thinking of you. Hope things are working out.

Nat - have you had your head in a book all wkend?!

Smithy, Playing - come back!!!!

Hello Star, Cant, Gin and anyone else lurking!

Meal out last night with NCT girls was lovely. Only 4 of us went but that was kind of easier to chat than with 6 of us. Obviously one topic of conversation was ttc#2! We're all going to give it a go at some point - 3 of us later this year!

Moosy · 14/03/2010 20:27

Thrush is definitely improving, I'm not so sore and although she's still fussing when she BFs her tongue isn't so white and herips have cleared up completely We have nystatin suspension which smells vile but she takes it ok, I have to collect the cream for me tomorrow, going to put it on her hand too as she sucks her fingers all the time and I don't want her to reinfect herself if it hides in her hand creases! I'm using clotrimazole on me in the meantime, just have to wipe it off before she feeds.

Your day sounds good ses, glad dh got the hint this time!

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 20:28

SES your day sounds really good, and yay for the presents and card
glad you enjoyed your meal
DS is fast asleep. hoping he stays that way for the night as im really tired.

tinkstoddleriswalking · 14/03/2010 20:46

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 21:15

Evening all

well it sounds like we all had a good result for Mothers day today

DH took DS to out from 13.45 til 16.30 so I had a nice break. Did some sorting, chilling etc

GC seems much better this evening. was a very happy boy dancing to the chart show on the radio during dinner and chattering in baby language very intently like we knew what he was saying

oh and SES....TTCing as of NOW

Im on CD5

Moosy · 14/03/2010 21:29

Oooooooooh Gruff how exciting! Sooo how long till you poas?

essenceofSES · 14/03/2010 21:39

Gruff - YAY!!!!!

tinkstoddleriswalking · 14/03/2010 21:39

oh gruff very

going to keep dd1 in her old seat for as long as poss with harness
want to get dd2 same seat is an evolva 1-2-3

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 21:43

LOL! erm...23 days I guess - eek!

So pretty scary and exciting stuff. But we did want 2 year gap initially so if get pg first cycle (which I doubt) that would make it 20 months which I think is the same gap as Playing!

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 21:46

YAY indeed

We will be looking for a house over the next year. But we need to get our flat in shape for selling first

Right I am off to bed! G'night all

gingerbreadlatte · 15/03/2010 07:46

Morning everyone.
What a fab day- down here it is anyway.. its supposed to be 15 degrees I think! thats tropical!!

Gruff - YAY!! Very excited for you. Dont find a house too far away

Tink- gown sounds lovely. I had a floor length one for xmas that i live in. Its soooo warm. I really wish I'd had it when I first had the small giraffe. Would have been perfect for all that night feeding.

MMM- how is DS today? You must be knackered after looking after him all weekend - clingyness is exhausting.

Nat- how is the reading going

Moosy- glad the thrush is improving so quickly.

Im in the office this morning but Im am not sure I will be for long. DD still isnt right- I think that her chest infection has come back. Going to try and get her an appt today to be looked at.
Diege/ STT- anyone else who worked full time-Come and give me a slap into shape please but also tell me it gets better?? Feeling quite sad about things this morning. I feel like we are constantly resisting DD's illnesses as its always an issue for us. Not sure what solution is - even me doing 4d a week wont help that much. Sorry guys, just needed to get it off my chest..

GruffaloSoldier · 15/03/2010 08:01

Hi GBL

No, we won't be moving too far, we need to stay in Surrey/Hampshire to be near DH's job, but we may move a bit closer to his work if we can. We might not even move for a while anyway. we are just keeping an eye out for any bargains!

Sorry to hear you are Turn that frown upside down! (as my DH would say) I am sure that SG will get right soon. Remember when the warm weather comes there won't be so many things going round etc. Perfectly natural to feel sad I suppose. But you are doing your best and thats the only thing you can do. Its crappy but it WILL get better. I'm sure.

GC decided to get up at 6.30am this morning not really when I like getting up, but at least we got to see DH before he left for work.

GC really coughs hard when he first wakes up but then it seems to settle down. He is currently looking throught every book on th ebook shelf - LOL he looks very studious and angelic!

I started temping this morning! Have joined FF.

essenceofSES · 15/03/2010 08:51

Morning!

Tooth still not through and O woke twice in the night. So tired!

Gruff - I used temping and FF when ttc O. It's great! Good luck

Ginger - I'm finding this work/mum thing a hard balance and things have been going pretty smoothly so far. Gruff is right, the bugs will calm down. It's just tough when you feel pulled in different directions and I can only imagine how wearing it has all been.

I'm off to Eastbourne today and have the usual 3 conference calls for a Monday. What fun!

Diege · 15/03/2010 08:54

Morning! Sounds like everyone had a good mother's day - some great pressies
Unfortuantely dd3 got the bug from ds on sat night, and then I had it by sun morning So spent all day being sick/aching all over, while dh and MIL tried to hold the fort (don't ask, nightmare). Slightly better this morning but not going into work. Just dd1 and 2 and dh to get the bug now...
Have had a quick read through..GRUFF brilliant news!!! Very exited for you and can't wait for POAS time
SES sounds like dh redeemed himself with pressies . See, you stocked up some 'credit' after all
MMM sounded scary reading about ds - sounds like a virus to me, complete with viral rash. Hope you're (both) ok xx
GING, I went through what you are going through re: sickness pretty much for the first 3 years and it is really, really tough I think I was lucky in that me and dh doled out sick days, so we both took equal time off, but still, there were weeks when it seemed someone was always off with ill babies (we had 2 in nursery then).Plus I';ll admit we did put them in when 'borderline' iykwim simply through desperation and worries about losing our jobs. I think you just have to take a deep breath, realise it does get better with the warmer weather, and (sadly) be prepared to take a few siccies yourself (both of you)so that it doesn't seem so bad workwise - very wrong, but sadly a reflection of how things are in this country re: working parents . Re: your question about stopping am feed rather than pm, this was purely down to me having to be out of the house by 7am, although it was nice looking forward to the one bf at night, and I was quite sad when it stopped at about 6 months (was pregnant with dd2 around then).BTW, you're right, 4 days a week is no better. I actually partly regret dropping to 0.8 (oe, 4 days) as they've simply compressed my full-time job into 4 days (but 20% pay cut)but of course just not being in one day a week doesn;t really register on people's radars, so they expect to to answer e-mails on your day off, you start complying so it's less work when you're back in, and bobs your uncle, full-time job, part time pay..
TINKS, shopping sounds good - I find it hard to get long-sleeved bodysuits, may try Next.
I know I've missed out loads but may head back to bed (dh did drop offs this morning). Feeling 'delicate' but fully anticipating older dds getting bug any day now
Try and catch up later!

tinkstoddleriswalking · 15/03/2010 08:57

tinkstoddleriswalking · 15/03/2010 09:04

diege - oh no hun sounds awful poor u!!!
get well soon

NatalieJane · 15/03/2010 09:10

Good morning

Sound's like you all had lovely Mother's days We don't really do much for Mother's or Father's days, but DS1 made me a pop up card from all of them and I got a mug with 'Mum' written on, that's about as far as we go!

Gruff, very exciting

Sorry for all the poorlies/teething/thrush, we've all still got these wierd colds, one day it's really bad, next it's almost gone, next it's back again.

I have done the first essay, well, just need to print it off and stick some swatches on, but will do that when I'm ready to send them in. Went to B&Q yesterday, picked up two of every paint swatch books they had and one of every Dulux swatch card's for the paint that they mix up, LOL DS1 and I wen't in to get them, as we were walking towards the door I said to him "if the alarms go off as we go through the door, run really fast to the car" he looked terrified LOL Bless him, I think he knew we hadn't actually done anything wrong, but I'd just planted that little seed of doubt LOL He was nearly running before we even got to the doors, am still chuckling at him.

Also have gone onto about 15 different carpet places and ordered loads of samples, and some other places (tiles, fabric etc) thing is, the second half of the first assignment is a total of 5 mood/sample boards, they all need to be different to show different colour combinations and different styles, and I don't know how else you'd make them without samples from shops!

It's tricky at the moment, I've now got a big pile of stuff to do with the course, and the pile is getting bigger and bigger, but until we've changed the dining room to my office I've nowhere for it all to live out of kids reach, and I can't order all the kit and stuff until I've somewhere to put it out of kids reach, and we can't change the room until at least next week because we need to make sure we can get to the end of the month, money wise, so I am once again waiting, DS1's bday this week though so at least I've got something to take my mind off it!

Worked out to change the room, get everything I need for the course, and paying for the course itself it's going to cost around £2000, it sounds a lot but if I'd have actually gone to a uni to do it, I would put money on it that it'd cost at least 10 times that, infact one of the magazines are doing a competition to win a diploma course at the college I was going to use, but the in house course rather than the home study and the prize is worth £20,000!

NatalieJane · 15/03/2010 09:15

Sorry x posts...

Diege, really sorry you're all poorly as well, pretty crappy isn't it?! Hope you feel better as the day goes on

Tink, always shopping! When do you think she'll be big enough to use it?

essenceofSES · 15/03/2010 09:39

Diege - poor you! Hope you feel better soon and it passes the others by.

Tink - I like long sleeved body suits too

Nat - you've been busy! I'm v impressed your first essay is just about done!

Meant to tell you all that a friend gave me 3 large carrier bags of clothes for O at the wkend. She has 2xDS and is due DC3 in 5 weeks. She's found out it's a girl so hence O gets loads of lovely clothes she wouldn't take any money for them. She said I'd probably bought a load of them anyway (her DS1 is my godson)

Right... Work!

Starshinetiger · 15/03/2010 09:50

Morning all - DD is 1 today - yay!!!

Diege - so sorry for all poorliness. We had horrific tummy bug two weeks ago, with both DH and I having D&V but luckily children didn't get it. Really sympathise with you and hope that if DDs 1 & 2 are going to get it that you are fully better by the time they do.

GBL - sorry for DD still not being right. I totally sypmathise with you. DS was sent home early on Thursday with temperature. These bugs do seem never ending don't they? The only thing I find with a 4 day week is that it gives a longer weekend to rest at home and get through bugs, but also if one of the DC is ill DH and I can muddle the 4 days through just about without taking too much time off, but that is one of the only perks about DH doing shifts - 2 of the days I work he's not in until about 3 or 3.30pm so I can work a morning and then come home and take over if necessary. The downside is that we only see each other one weekday evening a week (secret of a happy marriage?! ) Thank goodness he mostly doesn't work weekends any more (although this Sat will be his third working Sat in a row )

Right, off to make a birthday cake - DS is at nursery school, DD fell asleep in pushchair on the way back from nursery, so I need to get cake made, wash up, clean bathrooms and tidy all before she wakes up and the guy is coming to build the wall where the door used to be in our new kitchen... grr dust is everywhere and I just want it all to be complete. On plus side we have a new kitchen - yay!!

Nat - fancy giving a girl some inspiration for tiles and wall paint for our kitchen? Will post a piccie on my profile later this week when we actually have a window and you can see how much light gets in, etc. Don't worry if you don't have time, but would be great to get the reside wagon interior designer's input

Gruff - yay for TTC! How exciting!

Glad everyone had good mothers days.

GruffaloSoldier · 15/03/2010 10:30

Star - Happy Birthday to DD1 and YAY for new kitchen!!!

Tink - car seat sounds good.

Ses - hooray for clothes!someone at DH's work gave us loads of stuff from her son and the stuff is really good condition!

Diege - sorry to hear you are ill, weekend sounds tough. I hope things get better soon. Fingers crossed DDs1&2 don't get it.

NJ - good going on the essays! I did some work last night but only a bit. Going to have to work harder tonight as Im a bit behind

MMM - hope DS better today??

Moosy - hope Fizzy is improving.

I'm loving the warm sunshine today - may take GC out a bit later

cantmummyhaveabreak · 15/03/2010 10:38
