Evening all,

GC has developed a bad cold and bad cough

DH has just gone to tesco so Im chilling out but need to do some work for my course in a minute as I need to do 3 more modules by the 28th - eek!

Diege - re the doctorate Im not sure if I will reapply...my priorites are changing it will depend on when DC2 comes along and when I decide to resume working again. It will be something I would consider again in 2 or 3 years time. There is only one route into it, but that is fully funded with a £14k bursary for the first year and just over £20k salary pro rata (but its part time work and then rest of the time at uni/study time)for yrs2 and final year.thats why there are only a few places per uni.

MMM - I would never get a dog, they are sooo expensive!and sooo much hassle!I prefer cats but would never have a pet in this flat, we have enough going on in this flat without animals too.LOL

Moosy - so sorry to hear about your thrush. GC would not feed at all when we had thrush and my milk supply got really low and was what ultimately what lead me to give up when he was 10 wks old. I hope you get treated quickly and that Fizzy keeps feeding well for you.

SES - GC has had tooth 5 and tooth 6 coming through for what seems like an age!this last week has been awful. I am hoping we are over the worst now. Hope O sleeps well tonight for you!

Ginger - I hope SG ok. when GC does frequent poos its usual teeth related...has she got any coming through at the mo?

Hello NJ, CANT, Tink, Rugby, Playing, anyone else lurking

Moosy · 13/03/2010 22:22

Shes finally in bed!
The OOH appt was nice and quick but had to go to Sainsbury's pharmacy to collect the stuff and that took ages. She was really good though, I sat her on the counter while we waited and she grinned and aaaaaaaooooooooo'd at the sainsburys man (who was called Alisha - very odd, thought that was a girls' name!). By the time we got home though she was so tired she didn't want to feed so it was 10 o'clock before she'd finally had a decent amount. And the medicine stuff is reVOLTing! Hopefully it will work quickly, she is still feeding ok but it's clearly uncomfortable for her I'm very sore and itchy too and yes Can't, it is just like the early days where I'm wincing each time she latches on. I have to go back on monday to collect the cream for me.

Gruff, Ses, GBL and Diege, hope your littlies are better soon.

MMM, I don't like dogs, much prefer cats but don't think a flat's the best for either really, were you saying a while ago that you're hoping to move soon? Perhaps your next place will be more suitable for animals? How about a fish in the meantime?

Right, must do bottles (mixed feeding is all very well, but we get the worst as well as best of both worlds!) and off to bed. Enjoy your lie-ins ladies!

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 22:32

kinda thinkin i wont get a dog, all the people saying its too much hard work to begin with, wud love one tho bery much so. but dont think its wise unless i get an older trained pup
dont really fancy fish, but i dont see why not maybe get a couple next week haha will have to see

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 08:34

Just wondering if anyone has any advice, DS has been up a number of times in the night screaming, s if hes in pain, but i couldnt see anything that seemed different / strange. and he was stood up so hadnt hurt any of his legs, hes woke up with a red, slightly raised rash, on his lower arms, and thighs :/ i think the rash dissappears under a glass, but hes not being himself, hes wanting to just sit on my knee, wont play, and wont eat his breakfast, or drink anything water, milk, juice ive tried it all

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 08:35

sorry forgot to say happy mothers day to you all, hope everyone has a great day.

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 08:38

i forgot to mention he has eczma, so im thinkin it could be related to that, as it flared up last night on his back and tummy, hes now playing again so hopefully its nothing. will just keep an eye on it.

tinkstoddleriswalking · 14/03/2010 09:21

Morning Ladies
Happy Mother's day!!

MMM- i'd keep an eye on DS and see how he goes today. Thorntons chocs sound nice

Tink- glad you enjoyed indian and had nice gifts.

Hi Gruff - maybe you are right. Like Ses we have tooth number 8 partly out now and it could be causing her grief. She also had a bit of a temperature so this could be why. Given DH has been unwell with some gastic thing and the norovirus threat, I'm paranoid!
Do I read between the lines that DC2 might be sooner rather than later ?

Moosy- glad you got some meds. Is it Nystatin? I remember that being grim and I could never get DD to keep it on tongue. Although it cant have been that bad if she wanted to swallow it. Did you get meds too?
Hope it works quickly?

This is our first proper Mother's day. Last year I was giving birth literally right now , just before 10am- so weird to think that, even though its not a year until a week tomorrow. DH has gone out early for his course but left some lovely flowers, a fab card with pics of DD o, sc chocolate and some vouchers for beauty stuff! I feel thoroughly spoilt!

We will go to my mums i think... will be nice to see her. DOnt see her enough and DD really doesnt recognise her really.

gingerbreadlatte · 14/03/2010 10:02

Sorry Gruff- meant to say, how is the cub this morning?

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 10:34

Happy Mothers Day!!!!

I got up at 10am from my lie in and I have had a lovely card and I got the full boxset of season 4 of Lost but actually started watching last night when we finished season 3. (I sobbed at last episode!)DH also bought a flake easter egg which we ate while watching lost last night with some red wine.

GC still isn't right. cough is really upsetting him. it must be one of thos really painful ones poor mite

GBL - yes you could be right there your mothers day gifts sound lovely!

Tink - enjoy tesco!

MMM - how is ds now?

Moosy - so glad fizzy is being treated now. hope the meds work soon. did they give you an oral tablet?

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 10:38

sorry Moosy just realised your getting cream tomorrow ! doh!

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 10:42

DS seems ok in himself, but just wont eat or drink still, and is being really clingy which isnt like him at all really unless hes unwel. the rash is still there, but not gone anywere else, just a few spots under his knee. i really dont know what to do, as cnt go docs with it being a sunday, he doesnt seem to have a temp, so dont want to rush him to the hospital. theres a walk in centre thing but dont know if its urgent enough to take him there either

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 10:44

i did a question air kinda thing on the nhs website, and the answers i give best i could came back with URGENT phone 999 imediately. but i dont see the need in doing, as hes walking around, and is kinda happy.

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 10:49

ring NHS direct MMM you cant mess around with babies and I have always found them helpful

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 10:51

sorry I meant that in dont worry about it being unecessary as i think they rather you check and be cautious with little ones do you know the number? I think its in the little red book

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 10:56

ye i have the number, need to get dressed and go to the phonebox as out of credit and no landline just my luck

GruffaloSoldier · 14/03/2010 11:15

oh no, thats rubbish. how far is the drop in centre ?? if its not much further than phonebox I would go there.

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 11:20

its a half hour walk, and phoneboxe is just round the corner off there now. thanks everyone

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 11:46

just got to keep an eye on him, as he hasnt got a temperature, or the rash hasnt spread its most likely just because of his eczema. but got told if the rash spreads, or he gets a temperature to take him to the hospital, to get checked. also need to try get fluids down him.
right going to relax now tht the worries are behind now. and i know its nothing to worry about the way it / he is.
as i said hes not seeming unwel, just not himself if that makes sense.
off to have a cuddle on the couch before lunch, and hopefully get him a nap after lunch, and after that hoping hell be ok. as he was up alot in the night and he normally sleeps through, so hoping for the best.
thanks everyone.
will be back on later. let you all know how he is.

gingerbreadlatte · 14/03/2010 16:05

Hi

MMM- how is DS now?

Gruff your evening and today's lie in sounds great. I love flakes, not had one for ages.

I noticed sainsburys had bogoff on the WIspa eggs- I thought of Tink!

We are just back from my mums. Didnt stay long in the end, as DD was really clingy and tired and crying, she wouldnt sit with my mum on her own wihtout me in the room. All so out of character for her. Not sure if it was illness or unfamilarity but I really need to see more of her but its hard she is 30miles away and she doesnt drive so its usually up to me to travel. I drive 60miles a day to get to work so its not tempting to drive over every weekend

Rugbylovingmum · 14/03/2010 16:19

Happy Mothers Day everyone!

I got a card, a huge bunch of flowers and a cheesy fridge magnet but the best gift was DP getting up with C and letting me sleep until 10 ! After a huge breakfast of baby porridge, banana and apple he managed to convince her to take some formula from a bottle . I hope that continues - if she goes back to taking 1 bottle a day it means I can get a bit more sleep occassionally.

Gruff - sorry GC still isn't right, poor little soul. Maybe we should get that ttcing list started .

GBL - oooo, pressies sound lovely!

Tink - glad you got some nice gifts and indian sounds good.

MMM - how is ds now?

Ses - how was the meal? I hope DS is feeling better today! Poor little boy, after all the probs I've been having with my wisdom teeth recently I have loads of sympathy for teething babies. DD seems to have sore gums again and I can see little white spots on her gums so maybe her teeth are moving again. Nothing through yet though - I'm quite glad as she has turned into a wee vampire and sucks/gums/chews on my face/arms/neck/anything she can get close to. It is quite sore sometimes even without teeth!

Moosy - so glad fizzy is being treated now, hope it clears up soon.

Hi Diege, Kay, Star, Playing

maxxymoosmummy · 14/03/2010 17:00

hi, DS is still very clingy, and not himself, hes ate a little something tho, and drank some water, and not got a temo still so thats good. but the rash is still there. im very tired, with all the clingyness and everything, ready for an early night.
lie ins sound good

tinkstoddleriswalking · 14/03/2010 17:55

mm - poor ds hopefully he will be on the mend tomorrow

hi all ladies sounds like u have all had nice things for mothersday

i enjoyed tesco got yummy food

off to mothercare a week fri to get her some more summer tshirts
luv mothercare tshirts
have lots of dd1s tshirts for dd2 that she wear want to get new ones 2 i luv thsirts best
got dd2 tites in tesco 2

have a had a good aft

decided to buy dd1 a booster seat it is pink with a bee and flower really cute.
she has her farm trip tom the big seat is too much hassel @ least now she can go in the mini bus
then tom nite going to keep the booster seat in the car for using all the time. will use dd1s old sat it is a britax evolva 1-2-3 for dd2.
dd1 is 13kg booster says from age 4 roughly 15kg
dd2 is 7 kg seat forward facing from 9kg both will be ok
the seat dd2 is currently in is a pain!!!

Moosy · 14/03/2010 18:58

Tink, I don't want to sound like an old bore but booster seat aren't really safe under the weight limit, they need to be heavy enough to trigger the seat belt lock. It is a hassle lumping the big sears around but IMO it's less hassle than an injured (or worse) child.

Have had a lovely afternoon, dh took the girls to see his parents and F slept for ages so I finished painting the living room, did 3 loads of washing, tidied the kitchen and cooked a huge yummy roast. And because I didn't have anyone 'helping' me it was very enjoyable
