hi everyone, been in town, and had a good day. DS is fast asleep now. so im waiting for my tea to cook, then going to watch all my soaps.
TINK shoes sound like a great bargain
NJ glad the post man brought your thing sounds like lots of excitement
RUGBY your day sounds good

hi to everyone else i have missed

Moosy · 12/03/2010 18:27

Can't - just saw your message and couldn't not post. My mum was telling me other day about new policies in most areas where they are referring all babies with developmental delays, something to do with the fact that if there is something wrong then it normally shows symptoms before the age of 2 (I think) so they can keep an eye. It doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong, just that it's better to keep watch for other symptons as early as possible. Most babies/children are discharged after a few months, they're just being over cautious. I guess it's a good idea in theory, but they don't seem to be factoring in the effect it has on the parents

Nat - hooraay!!

Diege. go on, go on go on, you know you wanna!

GBL etc, I think I'm going to give BLW a go this time, I detest weaning so anything that makes it easier has to be worth a try!

gingerbreadlatte · 12/03/2010 19:14

Hey

Cant- sorry to hear that, I cant believe that referred you without talking to you first. Hopefully its like Moosy said and just standard procedure but even so- i'm for you.

MMM enjoy your tea- what are you having?

maxxymoosmummy · 12/03/2010 19:28

GBL jus had sum german style sausage (bratwurst) and chips. very full now but was yummy. just watching emmerdale now.

GruffaloSoldier · 12/03/2010 20:24

Evening all!

What a day

GC has been one heck of a whingebag today!!! I need a blimmin medal for putting up with it and holding it together! Poor thing is suffering but was much better tonight, fingers crossed he sleeps well...I cannot handle anymore consoling!!

I had some feedback from the director of the course today. Am pretty impressed they replied so fast...I only asked for it day before yesterday! She said I was shortlisted, but didn't make it to the interview stage. She said my experience was focused almost exclusively on abnormal psychology (autism) and I needed to broaden that to other areas. all doable so good good.and to be honest I had guessed that.just wanted to check.

CANT - sorry for referral. If you don't feel there is a need for the referral I'm pretty sure you don't have to attend. Don't be upset - like moosy said - it will be some gov. initiative, just keeping an eye on things. don't let it spoil you weekend.

Diege - don't listen to mw!!! just another old bird sticking her oar in I assume?? Don't get why people think its any of their business how many children others have!grrr! if you get her next time (and there will be a next time won't there Diege ) then just ask to change if she tries any of that nonsense again!

BLW RULES BTW!!! GC is a great eater and really independent and would def do it again

MMM- glad you had a good day!

Hello, NJ, Tink, Rugby, Moosy, Ses...

tinkstoddleriswalking · 13/03/2010 09:14

dd1 is @ stagecoach she has a school friend coming over to play later

going to take bracken ut in the garden in her new shoes this morning

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/03/2010 09:44

I've managed to calm down a little since yesterday!!

Diege- have you seen on Uttam London? They have loads of lovely dresses on sale at £15, and tops for £10!! I'm considering buying myself this for myself... i love it!! Would be fab for summer!!

Diege · 13/03/2010 10:49

Morning . CANT, I am very with you. I have just spent £40 on Uttam Londin website and it is all your fault . 2 lovely dresses and a top - bargain!! So did you get your dress in the end? I don't feel too guilty as rarely buy myself clothes, and too good a bargain to miss Glad you're feeling better this morning too.
TINKS, your day sounds good. How are the new, new shoes on dd1?
GRUFF, feedback about Phd sounds very positive - will you try again next year? Is there only one route into it, or could you look at other scholarships/funding opps (if they exist)?
Mum and dad due here at 11 on a rare visit first since xmas and they're only 40 mins away (do I sound a bit .It's dh's birthday tomorrow, so we're having friends round for a meal tonight which should be nice. I've lost another couple of pounds this week, so will celebrate with a curry! (I've also ordered those dresses in sz small, so must keep losing!).
Hope everyone is well. Have been thunking of you KAYZ, if you are lurking a bit hello and hug xx

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 10:54

morning everyone. had an early night last night and was asleep by half past9.
Going to sort out DSs outgrown clothes today, as theres way too many. got a free afternoon whilst he is at his dads, so tidying and sorting around abit i think.
really want a puppy

Diege · 13/03/2010 11:15

Hi MMM. Is there any reason you can't get a puppy?

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 11:22

just the money really, for vet bills, food etc but thats the only thing. i really do want one, and know DS will love it. he loves dogs.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/03/2010 12:04

MMM- take it from me- they're harder work than you think!! You'd not cope with one!! Thought you said you couldn't have pets in the flat either...?

Diege- haven't bought the dress yet... gonna show DH later in the hope that he's not already bought me something for mothers day- i know he wouldn't have done... but then he did take his wallet to work today- he's not normally so organised without my help... but then he is always prompted by me to take the DC's to the card section at tesco while i buy food... and we're not food shopping till tomorrow!! Fingers crossed i can buy the dress instead!! In fact- that's just reminded me that i forgot to post DH's mum's present & card.... I've just been into town too and could have took it with me, but didn't... at least he can phone and say i'll send it monday.

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 12:33

ye im allowed 1 pet, but others have like 2 big dogs at the end too. really want one, and max will love it. :D could get one thats already trained :D haha.

NatalieJane · 13/03/2010 13:43

Afternoon

MMM, they are hard work (think new baby hard work - and I am not being OTT!) but totally worth it! My sister got an older pup about 6 months ago, he is absolutely great, and house trained! Would be tricky in a flat with DS as well, you'd have to all trudge in and out 4/5 times a day(maybe up to 12 times with a young pup), but it's certainly doable if you're dead set on it.

Can't, glad you're feeling better about the ref. today, Moosy made a good point, and you've had excellent advice already so I've nothing to add really except that I hope you hear what you want to hear on Monday.

I am waiting for Ocado, we're all starving, but we've nothing in, we've got bread but no butter, and we've got cereal but no milk, 1 egg left, and no fruit, no junk, no juice, half a bottle of water, how the hell we've managed to get so low on food I've no idea! I don't think we could scrape even a 'chuck it all in and see how it comes out' sort of dinner together! Shopping was almost £275 so just shows how much I've ordered. Also not so cleverly ordered it for between 2 and 3 thinking DH would be home, but he's been called out, so I've got to handle all the putting away on my own (one of the worst jobs going that!) and if I'd have known he wasn't going to be here I could have ordered it for just before lunch.

Hoorah, they've just rang, they're coming early!

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 13:57

ye i gather there just like a baby, but once uve done the training, it all gets funner really want one atm, and as i said DS loves dogs, and would love to have 'his' own. hes so good considering hes only just over 1 with my mums dog, thats around 10months, and thats not with him all the time, so think he will be even better with one hes with all the time.
id love to have one too, going to consider it more over the next few months i think.

essenceofSES · 13/03/2010 15:52

Right - back from work, fed O and he's sitting watching the rugby with DH for a few minutes. DH shouted when Ireland scored a try earlier and O's little face dropped and suddenly started sobbing. DH is trying to keep his reactions under control now

MMM - puppies are hard work. We got Megan at the end of Jan and we've only just had a few days with no mess in the house (and we're lucky enough to have a decent sized garden which she spends a lot of time in!) I've also had to accept books and dvds being chewed. It is possible but you might want to have a think about the most suitable breed for your circumstances. I'm no expert but you could post on the pets section on MN.

Cant - I was and when I read about your referral. I'd treat it as them being extra cautious and not worry. You know yourself how well she's doing.

Diege - hope your M&D's visit goes ok.

Gruff - hope GC is a bit more himself today.
Good feedback re the PhD and great that you made the shortlist.

Playing - this thread is still as addictivew as ever isn't it?!

Rugby - we've done BLW too. I must admit though that I struggle to get O to feed himself with a spoon (slowly getting there) and a plate/bowl of food just goes all over the floor. It is so much easier though and he loves his chuinks of fruit and veg. Current favourites are roasted courgette and banana.

Nat - yay for package arriving but I'm disappointed the postman didn't get more of a celebration

Oman - not much of an update. They've told DH that they like his CV but what goes against him is the fact that he's not worked in the Middle East before. They're still deciding though...

ttc - I'm getting distinctly frustrated at lack of AF and I'm really broody. Had a man come into the shop this morning picking up some formula for his 4day old twin girls. I just melted...

Hello Moos, tink, GBL, anyone else!

Moosy · 13/03/2010 15:55

Fizzy has thrush in her mouth I've got it on me too, I'm all itchy and sore. We've got an OOH appointment for 7.30 tonight at the hospital as I can't wait until monday to see the GP - it's affecting her feeding - she seems really uncomfortable and keeps stopping and crying or scowling at me! It'll be hell though as it's in with A&E (on a saturday night!) and she normally has her evening feed from 7-8.30 then goes to sleep for the night, not sure how that's going to happn in the hospital! Hopefully they won't insist on poking her about and trying to get her mouth open!

essenceofSES · 13/03/2010 15:59

Oh Moosy - poor you and poor Fizzy
It can be easy to treat, you just have to be persistent and regular in using the treatment. They normally give little ones either a gel to put in the mouth or a suspension. Just remember that they only work whilst in the mouth so best to give after a feed and not before.
Hope you don't have to hang around too long to be seen later.

essenceofSES · 13/03/2010 16:20

Moos - actually you probably weren't looking for the ins and outs of thrush treatment! You have my sympathies though and I hope it clears up quickly for you!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 13/03/2010 16:24

Moosy- I had thrush when feeding DS. Unfortunately it was passed between us for about 6 weeks... But once it was treated i was glad i fed through it. I know how painful it can be... it's like them early days of cracked nipples all over again.

Diege · 13/03/2010 16:35

Afternoon! MOOS good luck for this evening - sounds very painful
Dof talk interesting - was brought up with a house full (mum and dad bred them) but far too much work for me - even Harvey the cockatiel seems like too much work at times! How would it work in a flat? (just thinking of house training and having to go out all the time for them to wee!)
SES aww twin baby girls . I think my periods came back with dd1 when I finally dropped the morning feed, so just giving her quick feed before bed, though I'm sure everyone's different. Got pregnant with dd2 the month they returned though!
NAT we had the ocado visit this morning too - have you noticed how they've stopped the free newspaper, or is that just round here? Great to have food again!
Visit went ok, though they had to leave early for The Dog . Yes, I am of a sheep dog/ Anyway, mum had made a birthday cake for dh which went down very well. Pain having his birthday on mother's day ; still, not his fault, but then we have MIL here all day with her PFB on MY mother's day I have Kath Kidson stuff though (directed dds with list to the shop with dh) - hopefully china and tins variety as opposed to laundry spray...
Right, better go. Poor ds is really suffering with his cough - not sure if gp is worth it, as what would they do anyway? Still seems 'loose', but really not sure what to do. Any ideas?
Right, he's wailing..

gingerbreadlatte · 13/03/2010 17:27

Hi everyone

Ses- LOL about DH having to keep the noise down... Twin girls sounds lovely too.

MMM- a puppy sounds fun but hard work too I think. Didnt Kay recently get one and give it back? Would be good to hear what she has to say on the subject

Nat/ Diege- Im envious of your Ocado orders. I've not used that for ages. Today I went to do a full shop as I'd not got round to doing the order. DD enjoyed the trolley thank goodness!

Moosy, sorry for the thrush, must be horrid for both of you. Hope the appt helps.

Diege- Kidson stuff sounds great. Love those bits and pieces. LOL about PFB and the MIL. SUppose your DH's bday isnt always on mothers day though? (only know as DD was born on MD last year, it was 22nd!)

Interested in you talking about dropping the morning feed. Why did you choose that one first? I am really getting to the point of wanting to give up now and im not sure which to drop first. I still do 7am and 7pm feeds (ish).

We (me and DD) are going to my mums tomorrow for lunch. DH is away on a course, I arranged it so I cant complain!- didnt know the dates then of course!. Im really hoping DD will be ok. She's had 4 poos (sorry for TMI) since 12pm. Doesnt seem normal.

She is crying now, better go and give her a cuddle...

Hi Nat, Tink, anyone else.

tinkstoddleriswalking · 13/03/2010 18:04

mm - i am not keen on dogs we have a cat

we r getting indian takeaway tonite my mothers day treat korma, pilau rice and keema nan

essenceofSES · 13/03/2010 18:52

tink - sounds like you've had a good day

Ginger - hope DD is ok and your visit goes well tomorrow.

The morning feed is definitely losing interest (a little) for O. I wonder whether this is still because 90% of the time he still has a feed around 2am when he wakes up but I don't think he actually feeds that much at 2am. I think it's more comfort.

He's one grumpy boy tonight. We've been waiting weeks for tooth no8 and I think it's about to put in an appearance. He's been fussy with his food today (not like him!). I had to cut the crusts off his bread and he'd only eat fruit otherwise so I think it's definitely sore gums. I've dosed him up tonight so hope he doesn't have too bad a night.
I'm off out for a meal with NCT girls

maxxymoosmummy · 13/03/2010 18:58

TINKS enjoy your indian
DIEGE clothes sound nice
MOOSY hope app goes well and you both can get some treatment and get rid asap. sounds painful / annoying for the both of you.
SES laughed about your DH having to keep it quiet
NJ hope you managed to get your shopping put away
Sorry for anyone ive missed
got DS with his comfort blanket over his head covering one eye, and him sith his hand up my t-shirt arm very strange boy.
hes been with his dad today, and had his hair cut i cried (sad i know but it was just a shock from his old hair) very short and he looks way too grown up now, and looks alot more like his dad. ( he did before but this makes it more obvious)
quite fancied a drink tonight, but dont fancy the walk to the shop now. so just going to watch youve been framed, then ant and decs push the button
DS got me chocolates from thorntons for mothers day, they wasnt wrapped, tempted to indulge later haha. but not too sure.
