It feels like aaaaages til our scan Not til the 10th March, got the consultant appt the day after too so DH and I have been getting our brave socks ready so we can let them know what we'll put up with. We'll probably just end up nodding and not saying anything!

stac14 · 17/02/2010 19:15

how do you know jobob? I will have to go for a look again now lol hating red meat at the mo but would love a budweiser lol

violet the pic is fantastic, what a difference from the 12 week one eh?

I know what you mean about it feeling like ages Chulita, mine is 12 March which still feels like an age away.

Chulita · 17/02/2010 19:27

Just cos I had an em c-sec last time so it's routine. They already told me that if I haven't gone into spontaneous labour by 40 weeks they'll give me a c-sec which I don't want so I'm prepared for a battle

keepingeverythingcrossed · 17/02/2010 19:49

dh21, somerset and north devon are lovely, try welcome cottages or west country cottages. very reasonable, around £350 for the week for both of you. Also can take dogs if you have one

Wonderstuff · 17/02/2010 20:12

Hi all, been feeling very tired this afternoon, but trying to stay awake because if I go to bed early I wake up really early which is annoying.

Anyone else getting really fed up of wearing the same things. I have 2 jumpers which fit me atm and I really don't want to buy any more mat clothes because it seems such a waste - plus all the shops have their summer stuff in now even though summer still seems a long way off.

beckyg123 · 17/02/2010 20:13

Just popped on before bed - i'm shattered!

violet so glad everything went well- what a fantastic photo!!! Oh i'm so excited about mine on monday now! Are you still feeling better?

orangefizz yes very excited! What time is yours at? mine is 1.30pm

Got physio tomorrow afternoon - my left hip is seriously playing up! it is now waking me up everytime i turn in bed- never realised how much i move around in my sleep! lol!

stac the pram shop was great! the woman really new her products- far more helpful than anywhere else i've been! esp john lewis.

beckyg123 · 17/02/2010 20:29

Yes wonder so bored of my clothes but like you, really don't want to buy much more! I would like a few more tops for the nicer weather but its still way too cold!

Emster30 · 17/02/2010 22:45

I'm totally sick of all my jumpers but it's not because of being PG, it's just that winter has gone on for such a long time I'm sick of wearing them day in day out! Some of them are getting really quite tight in the bump area now. I have a load of maternity tops I've been given/got in my eBay bundle so I'm looking forward to wearing them when the weather improves and I have a bigger bump.

I was going to wear one of them for my best friend's 30th birthday do on Saturday, but I reckon I'll be too cold (it's in a pub barn in rural Hampshire) so I'm going to wear a sweater dress which really hugs the bump! eek!

stac14 · 18/02/2010 09:33

Hi ladies, got my afp results and baby is low risk, really can't wait for the scan now

Totally fed up with wearing the same clothes all the time, think i am going to go onto e-bay for a look to see if they have any bundles of clothes as i dont want to buy loads of clothes i wont be able to use in a few months

Hows everyone doing today? xxxxx

Morning all,

Was meant to be going to lunch with my mum today but she has a vomiting bug feel really sorry for her she sounds so ill but I really dont want to catch it.

Me and DP have decided to have a hol next year when LO is almost 1 cos a family member owns a villa in spain so we would only have to pay for flights and food which should be fine on our budget.
Thanks for the ideas though everyone, I def want to visit some of those places at some point.

Really counting down the days til my scan now, esp as Ive seen other peoples now! Only 11 days to go

Jojobil · 18/02/2010 10:41

It's so exciting about the scans!!! Please update us and spill the beans about the sex, those who don't want to keep it a surprise. I am still overwhelmed about my news....

Don't count days as it makes it longer Desperate I found that first time round everything was dragging, whereas here I keep my self busy don't count and it seems to come quicker! Me and my hubby also decided to wait with a holiday. Maybe for Christmas if baby and our daughter are settled...

Becky I know how you feel, although will definitely get some summer clothes as already put on one and a half stone and need to make myself feel a little better I have breasts like watermelons and need new bras I think will have a trip to Brent Cross shopping centre this weekend

I was looking at boys clothes as I have a 5 year old daughter and all my friends have winter boys so not much luck in passing down clothes department... And there is so little to choose from! It's amazing how much there is for girls and how little for boys Anyone has any suggestions where I can find some more inspiring things that don't cost a fortune?

stac14 · 18/02/2010 11:16

Im seeing a friend tomorrow which will keep me busy then DP is with me at the weekend. Also Primark do cheap children's clothes, I admit the quality isnt fantastic but they are def cheap. My friend bought me some bodysuits for LO which are just adorable!

Thanks mlic yeah I would have gone round to see her but really dont want to catch it so will see her when shes better.

Chulita · 18/02/2010 12:46

jojo, I have a DD but I've always found good stuff in the Sainsbury's Tu collection. I bought a few things for my little nephew from there too.
Thursdays are the most boring day of my week. I usually go round to a friend's but she's got the flu so definitely not going there today! Just bored in the house instead...

stac14 · 18/02/2010 13:24

Is everyone waiting till after thier 20 week scan to buy in clothes and stuff? I havent bought anything yet, just put a deposit on the pram and car chair. A couple of friends have been picking up bits and bobs but I dont know what they have.

Also just curious on the subject of wanting beer has anyone actually had any alcohol?

Hi all! Hope everything is going ok for everyone today.

The only things I've picked up so far Stac are some packs of nappies using the free sample vouchers that came with Bounty and Emma's Diary (the vouchers expired end of Feb), some baby wipes and a Philips microwave steriliser that I got a really good deal for in the Asda baby event. So you're not alone with not having got anything/much!

For all the bigger purchases, I'm mostly waiting until after I visit the Baby Show on Saturday. A number of the suppliers of the products I want are there (Britax/Tutti Bambini/Philips/etc), so I figure it's a good chance to talk to them and hopefully see their products first hand before ordering them online.

I've made a big spreadsheet with everything I need to get and a few things I'd like to get. I've found the cheapest prices for everything, so I'm vaguely hoping to use that knowledge to barter with the suppliers themselves for good deals. I can hope! Compiling such a sheet has been a great way to look busy at work too, given that I work with data anyway.

So I expect I might go on a bit of a spending spree online on Saturday evening, for any of the bigger purchases I didn't manage to organise anything for. Means there's plenty of time for delivery and such, which is one less thing to worry about.

For the littler things like baby clothes, I'll probably hold off until the scan like you say. Hopefully I'll find out the gender, but I'll still be getting the clothes as gender neutral since they're not always right with their predictions! I've also been waiting for the summer lines to appear, for short/no sleeved bodysuits and such.

Far as maternity clothes go, I'm in the same boat as many others in that I currently have a mighty three casual outfits and two working outfits to cycle between! I don't mind too much, but it means I've had to make sure to keep on top of the laundry pile to make sure I have enough clean things to wear.

Once the summer lines (hopefully) appear for maternity clothes, I'm intending to pick up a couple of pairs of cropped trousers and some t-shirts, if possible.

For alcohol, I had a small amount of wine (around 1/4th of a glass) over Christmas and Boxing Day, but aside from that I've stuck with the non-alcoholic drinks. Things like Appletize have been hitting the spot nicely for me.

GlastonburyGoddess · 18/02/2010 14:27

Ive had a couple of glasses of wine, but not really fussed tbh. The hard time will come IF it gets hot come may/june time as I crave a nice cold pint of stella when the weathers hot!
Ive bought a few outfits, 4/5, but am waiting till after the scan tbh. although i have bought some booties in blue as convinced itll be another boy lol

Jojobil · 18/02/2010 14:59

Thank you for the boy clothes suggestions!

stac I have Cobra 0.0% it is no alcohol but tastes like a real one really brilliant

viksam · 18/02/2010 15:28

WSS I have only just remebered about the picnic mix up, i should have know but didnt realize you were so far away! Glasto reminded me of it.
DH ur scan is the day before mine next week, i am going to wait to buy anything til then, i have a friend coming to stay that weekend and its pay day on the friday so its all looking good for a few purchaces........althought we did splash out the other day we brought the icandy peach........I have already had some detrimental coments from a friend about the price and im trying not to care but its a bit shit that people cant just accept ur choices, why dose everyone have to judge? Im not going to be made to feel guilty about my choices for this child, we have waited long enough and what we buy is our business. We also got a maxicosy car seat and reading ur comments will look into getting the base thing, sounds alot easier than fiddling with the belt. We got our stuff from an independant shop called baby gear in bridport is anyone is down this way, they were so lovely and helpfull, they also do repairs and if they cant repair it that day they will loan you something whilst you wait. We can also pay in instalments which is good.
stac I havent had a drink at all but gagging for a glass of red wine, i did pour myself half a glass when we were eating out a few weeks ago but just couldnt drink it even though i wanted it???
Re clothing has anyone checked out peacocks, it has a small maternity range and some decent kids clothes, is there anywhere else anyone can reccommend for maternity clothes, i especially need some work trousers that are adjustable, im not big enough for normal maternity ones but my work trousers are too small now, so at a rubbish inbetween stage!
violet ur scan pic is ace, cant wait to see some more!
Still cant decide about BF, maybe Ill just keep an open mind and wait. Has anyone started classes yet? Should I have applied to join any or is it too soon, you can take time off work if its a midwife suggested class cant u?
Hope everyone is ok on this most depressing of days and all have escaped the snow so far!
Glasto where abouts are you? Im in Yeovil and under Yeovil hospital, I have a friend in glastonbury who is also under Yeovil, just wondered if you are too?

kapars · 18/02/2010 17:40

Yeah! Had scan today and all is well. I am absolutely over the moon because I had a miscarriage last year I have not felt the joy you get with the pregnancy this time and have been very anxious. But I am absolutely ecstatic today. I was even grinning into work on the tube even though I didn't get a seat.
We are supposed to be keeping the sex secret but don't know how long that will last. It feels brilliant to know the sex though as you immediately start getting images of the future!
I have a low lying placenta though which means I may have to have a caesarian as it is blocking the way out. But apparently it most cases this rights itself in time for the birth. I have to be scanned nearer the time to see if it has moved.
Well done on the scan ladies so far and the others you have so much to look forward to! xx
