ooh congrats on the boy news Jojobil! How exciting! And congrats to MLIC as well and anyone else who has had their 20 week scan!

The midwife I saw is the community midwife based at my surgery so unfortunately I will see her all the way through - though maybe sometimes I'll see the community midwife from the other surgery who did my booking in appointment. Maybe next time I'll try to book an early appointment rather than the last of the day and she might be in a better mood! I had heard she is legendary, is delivering the grandchildren of the first babies she delivered in the area, and that she's a real character - maybe I'll get to know her a bit better and she'll be nicer.

I am also trying to get my head round car seats. I would really like one that clips onto a base - my friends have a Britax First Class and it's a real pain to lift the baby around the seat belt and into the seat, and it's a pain to have to wake the baby to bring her in from the car rather than just being able to lift the seat out with her asleep in it. I have a 2001 Ford Fiesta and it doesn't have Isofix, but I was assuming I'll be able to get a belted base. I am wondering whether it would be a good time to get a new car, what with all the baby paraphernalia there will be, but there's so much else to spend money on, and our car is still running very well (touch wood...)

stac14 · 16/02/2010 18:59

emster you may have the same probs as me but i'm defo not getting a new car, really cant afford it.

jojobil fab news does that mean you have one of each?

Yes

Wonderstuff · 16/02/2010 19:57

violet sorry you are feeling so poorly, I was ill on and off all the way through with DD, definitly didn't ever feel I could take on the world! I am still being sick once or twice a week, seems to be worse if I am tired so I am taking all offers of help with dd and housework

spireal that dress is beautiful.

I had a busy day today, dd was in nursery and its half term so I went shopping by myself this morning and got my legs waxed, definitly more sensitive to pain in pg! Feel a bit colder now as well LOL. Treated me and dh to a new iron, because mine is really rubbish and put a small scald mark in my very lovely and quite expensive new mat blouse and also failed to get the creases out of it! Also brought www.amazon.co.uk/Theres-House-Inside-Orchard-Picturebooks/dp/1841210684 for dd, which was a hit at bedtime tonight - cool book for anyone with a toddler. Though gutted to just see it is so much cheaper on Amazon than it was a Waterstones

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/02/2010 20:00

WhatSheSaid · 16/02/2010 22:58

Congrats to those having scans.

We will hire a car seat for the first six months and then we get a free one from our local council. Using the same pram too - dd will be 2.8 so I think we'll get away without a double. Don't think I need to buy anything at all for this baby - just a bed for dd then the new baby can have the cot. Just as well we don't need to buy anything as we are a bit skint.

My friend texted today to say she had her 4th baby this morning at 6am after a 45 minute labour!

GlastonburyGoddess · 16/02/2010 23:38

Haven?t been on for a while so have been trying to catch up, here goes?

WhatSheSaid-Congratulations on your girl!! How exciting! And lol about the picnic confusion!

Winter- Its always best to do what you thinks best for your family and yourself. No matter how it is portrayed I personally think some women have a very difficult time with bf whilst others sail along from the start. I certainly didn?t have a good time with ds1, he would not latch for love nor money and ended up ½ ff and ½ ebf till about 6 weeks when my milk supply vanished. With ds2 it was a lot easier but I suffered terribly with bleeding nipples etc despite the latch being perfect but managed to feed till about 7/8 months. Contrary to what the hcps say, it is hard work and does require a lot of patience and determination.

viksam-don?t be scared about wanting to bf. As many people ive known to have great difficulties, ive also got lots of friends who?ve found it super easy and produced lots of milk, had quick feeders etc. you just don?t know until you try.

beckyg123-doing ebf so your dh can have a turn is a great idea although not particularly recommended for the first 6 weeks or thereabout, simply for the fact the baby can develop nipple confusion and also take to the fast flow of the bottle and not want to put the effort into suckling at the breast. Once your milk supply is established it should be fine but I would recommend pumping when he gives the ebf to keep up your supply.

Jojobil-that?s pants about your pram. I hate ebay sellers like that, they should put a reserve on if they?ve got a set price in mind that they want to sell it for. Grr
Ive been busy on ebay last 2 weeks, made £85 with a few bits and pieces I found in the attic so all good

For all you guys that use ebay and don?t know about sniping I recommend ?my snip? you put your max bid on and leave it. That way you don?t actually bid on ebay and push up the price in a bidding war. Mine is set to bid 5 seconds before the auction ends, so I get a few good bargains. I joined the site about 6 yrs ago and put on £5 of snipes and still have quite a few shots left before I need to buy more, so definitely worth it, also if your shot doesn?t win, you don?t pay

Wonderstuff-have you booked your driving test? Good luck, its such a liberating experience being able to drive!

Kapars-join the belt club! are you seeing her again?

Violet-sorry to hear your still getting ms. it sucks having it all the way through, but fingers crossed it eases up in the next few weeks x

Jojobil-congratulations on your little boy!!

Well ive had a busy 2 weeks. Been working a lot and have been super busy. Saw the physio two weeks ago about spd and have been given tubigrip and exercises and see her back in early march. Worked a 9hr shift on Sunday in a v v large residential unit and walked miles from one end of the house and back, all shift. Had to work all day Monday which also invovled a fair bit of walking, consequently Im in agony. Have been taking cocodamol 8/500 but its not touching the pain whatsoever so had a chat to the dr today and hes put me on 30/500 instead. Will see how that goes and go back to him if there?s no difference. Getting really quite scared now as only 19weeks and live on 1st floor with 2 children so really cannot afford to be immobile!

Bought my britax first class at the weekend. Have had two already for the boys(used at same time) but they were f8888d after a few years heavy use, so nice new one again! Have bought a few neutral little outfits as I got rid of all our baby stuff, but other than that nothing else yet!

Got ds1 6th birthday next Monday, hoping he?ll be behaved for that(been a horror for the past few days) but will take him to do something with just me and him as dp at work and ds2 at nursery so hopefully will be a nice day.
Tuesday ive got my 20wk scan!, still cant decide whether to find out sex or not, need to make up my mind though!

Wow, mammoth post, sorry guys!

violetbubbles · 17/02/2010 11:09

Hi everyone
Thanks so much to everyone for being so supportive about the return of my MS/All day nausea - it's such a lovely feeling to be friends with you all on here because I can say how I really feel, whereas in the real world I just smile and say "I'm feeling good, a bit tired, but that's to be expected" . I dragged myself to yoga last night and I do feel a bit better today because of it!

Well, I'm counting down the hours until my 20 week scan - 3pm today. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me! I'll login tonight to tell you how it went!

xxx

stac14 · 17/02/2010 11:17

cant wait to hear how you get on violet, are you wanting to know what your having? Mine seems to be dragging in. Glad your feeling, your right bout the real world, most people say the love pregnancy and sailed through it. I think they are just too scared to admit they had times they felt like crap. What you up to today? I have my physio appointment x

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 17/02/2010 13:29

Wow... congrats to jojobil and MLIC on successful scans! It is all happening here now! Goodluck today voilet looking forward to reading your post later on... also glad to hear your feeling a little better.

Thanks GlastonburyG for advice- i realy hope we can make it successful so the more peoples experiences i hear of the better!

stac hope physio goes well today. I've got an appt with physio's at the royal tomorrow. Are you going there? Hope they are nice and helpful!

We went to look at icandy apple again and a few others but definately decided on this one! Yes prices going up in march so plan on getting it booked next week- pay day on tuesday so can sort it then

Anyone else having nosebleeds? I've not had any full ones but everytime i blow my nose its very bloody. Also gums bleeding when brushing my teeth - all very normal pregnancy symptoms i believe, but strange!!!

I'm finishing work today and going home to do lots of tidying! The house is in a total guddle and i just don't know where to start! Any free cleaners out there???

beckyg123 · 17/02/2010 13:37

Oh yeh, ment to say I now really wish i hadn't asked the question on carseats and isofix!!! I realise i'm totally clueless and actually had no clue what isofix was! i thought thats what the seatbelt bases were
Oh dear- more research to do now!!! The girl at the pram shop said the maxicosi cabrio is really easy to fit with just seatbelt but didn't get a chance to try it out, will have a shot before we buy tho!

Chulita · 17/02/2010 13:48

I had no idea how many types of pram there were until we bought one - worth picking older mums brains about it for sure!
I'm having a turkey, cucumber and tomato sandwich with mustard and it tastes absolutely amazing...might have to have 2
How's everyone's Wednesday going?

beckyg123 · 17/02/2010 14:17

mmm... chulita that sounds lovely! I just had a baked potato with tuna and red onion -perfect!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/02/2010 14:32

omg where has this stomach come from?! Ive suddenly got a huge bump even in the mornings

Me and DP are trying to decide where to go on hol before the baby comes, we've decided it'll be somewhere in England as Im not overly keen on flying while preg, we've got a modest budget, anyone have any ideas/ places they've been to which were lovely, I live in Kent so somewhere thats not here! We'll be going no longer than a week.

Ta!

stac14 · 17/02/2010 15:57

becky I wasnt at the royal for my appointment but all the physio i saw was from the royal her name is isabel a campbell, quite specific as there are two isabel campbells lol the one I say has dark hair/ She explained that even though we expect to be able to carryon as normal sometimes our bodies wont let us. As I am only 18weeks so she says I have to try the exercises first as at 20 weeks the pregnancy hormones level out and most of the time with exercise it wont get worse. Heres hoping lol How did you like Jan Stewart? I have really bad bleeding gums but no nosebleeds as yet

dh21 what about a haven or butlins, know it sounds cheesy but you have it all on site which would save you having to go all over the place. Also the lake district is gorgeous

yum for the sandwich chulita I had egg mayo so nice lol

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 17/02/2010 16:17

stac I was thinking something like Haven or Centerparks but will have to look into them both.

Ive been to the peak district which was lovely and would like to visit the lakes. Thinking sometime in May when the weather is a bit better.

violetbubbles · 17/02/2010 16:17

Hi everyone
Just back from my scan. Everything looks perfect! Baby was wriggling about lots so it took ages to get all of the measurements, which meant we got to watch our baby do somersaults for over half an hour Will scan in photo and upload later!

Glad your scan went well too Jojobil

xx

stac14 · 17/02/2010 16:51

Are you keeping the sex a surprise violet? So glad all went well hun

dh21 May probs be a much better time to go we're not sure if we should try to get away before lo arrives. Is your scan 2 weeks today?

xx

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 17/02/2010 17:07

My scan is 2 weeks yesterday Im so excited I really cant wait to see LO again, its been wriggling around alot recently, esp yesterday I could feel it kick really strong while I was watching One Born Every Minute, think I was tensing up while watching the ladies in labour lol.

violetbubbles · 17/02/2010 18:16

I've just uploaded the images from my 12 week and 20 week scan. You can view them here

Jojobil · 17/02/2010 18:55

Violet I can see clearly the sex of the baby, but not saying in case it's supposed to be a surprise? How wonderful - congrats It is a joy to see them all healthy!!!

Jojobil · 17/02/2010 18:56

Actually I looked again and not sure anymore

Jojobil · 17/02/2010 19:03

Does anyone else craves beer? I don't usually drink it, but recently I am dying for it! I need to stress I am not a drinker at all. I mean occasionally, twice a months I might drink a few glasses of wine or so. Ended up buying non alcoholic 0.0% Cobra and that sorts me out. Also craving red meat, steaks in particular.

Car seat wise we are getting a maxi cosi after our friends. We had one 5 years ago when my daughter was a baby and it is perfect
