Wow... what a busy day today- i am so tired i could cry for no reason! Have arranged to go swimming with a friend tonight but think i'll cancel. Could just out my feet up and catch up on some TV!

MLIC thanks for the tip on the icandy prices! I had no clue they were going up so will get a move on and buy it this week.

Flexab23 the total price from John Lewis was £746.85 including pram, buggy, car seat, brackets and jogger wheel.

Stac i have never even been to east kilbride! will have to make a special trip now!

Violet sorry to hear your feeling so bad - i'm ok with food but just keep getting very tired

Aw emster thats a real shame about MWs mood! mine was very grumpy at 12 week appt but lovely last time! She didn't need to be like that about the movement. My GP gave me a funny look when i told her i had felt movement at 16 weeks but she didn't actually say she doubted it!

I went to TKmax today and bought a breast pump (£10 cheaper than boots and asda!) and some sleep suits and vests! My first purchases so far!

Jojobil · 16/02/2010 07:51

That's awful Emster what a horrid person. I've had that with the last appointment too. The doctor treated me like a piece of meat.

I guess you never know who you will get on the day..

I just bought a Bugaboo Bee with accessories yesterday on Gumtree my husband picked it up and it is perfect! As new and a bargain. So very very pleased. Light, compact and steady.

And of course I've got my 20 weeks scan this afternoon. Hopefully we will find out if it's a baby brother or sister. I'm convinced that it's a girl but the few things I got are blue. Interesting.;)

viksam · 16/02/2010 09:13

Ooooohhhhhhhhh Jojobil how exciting about ur scan, hope all goes well. Has anyone posted a twenty week scan pic yet?
Emster She sounds a bit of a cow, are u able to avoid her at ur next appointement?
I have been looking at the silver cross 3D pram, I filled a virtual basket at the John Lewis web site, came to £1173, that includes a cotbed, matress, pram, car seat, bouncer and rocker chair and stool (i dont need the rocker chair and stool but i can see that it would be lovely!)
Sat drinking tea at the moment, might make pancakes now!! Hurrah pancakes!! Hope everyone else is ok. Jojobil let us know how u get on later on.
x

stac14 · 16/02/2010 09:46

emster what a witch, think sometimes they forget these appointments aren't routine for us.

becky the shop is called june or jan smith, they are doing the icandy too think they also offer a club

jojobil do let us know how your scan goes mine doesnt seem to be coming quick enough lol thats goog you got a bargain with the bugaboo, they are so expensive

viksam its the silver cross 3d we have booked, we're getting it in pistachio seems quite summery lol. I love the fact its easy to assemble. Unfortunately the car chair doesnt fit in our car so i went for a maxicosi cabrio. Mothercare are doing an offer on the 3d with the car chair, may save a few quid hun.
Is your 20wk scan this week?

Hope everyone is well xxxxx

Hi everyone

Have had to phone in sick to work today because I've been up all night with really bad headaches. Still struggling with food. Am force feeding myself toast and beans this morning, on top of my Weetabix, which I had a couple of hours ago. Think I need to get my calorie count up before I can feel better

Thanks for the reassurances Chulita and Jojobil - it helps so much to know that others struggled at the 20 week mark too. I have a relative who is pregnant at the moment and she's a few weeks ahead of me and I'm always hearing stories about how great she feels and how she's had a burst of energy and feels like she could take on the world. Argh!

Emster - sorry to hear that your MW appointment was a bit of a let down. I definitely started to feel little flutters around 16 weeks and my MW said it probably was the baby wriggling around in there as some women do feel movement very early on.

Becky - I think when your body is crying out for rest then you should rest. You can always go swimming tomorrow Speaking of which, do you know if aquanatal is on this Friday?

I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow Jojobil - up until this week I've been dreading it because I'm a bit of a worrier but now I'm really looking forward to it. Let us know how your scan goes!

Hope everyone else is okay
xx

stac14 · 16/02/2010 10:10

aww poor you violet its even worse when you get compared to other women. Hope your better soon hun. Try to have a nice relaxing day x

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 16/02/2010 12:52

Oh violet hope you feel better after a full day of rest, you're probably right about lack of calories contributing! Welldone for making yourself eat more- it is so hard when you just don't feel like it! Good luck for scan tomorrow! I think aquanatal is on on fri... not sure if i'll be there- been having a lot of pain in my hip (sciatica i think) and have physio on thursday so will take their advice on what to do exercise wise! Really don't want to make it worse, basic swimming seems to help tho so hopefully the aquanatal will too

I slept like a log last night- i did end up meeting my friend for a swim as she really needed a chat! We did a very slow chatty swim up and down- her husband has just been told he likely has skin cancer so she needed to off load some anxiety i think! So tough.

Lol stac i just called Jan Stewart (could be the name of the shop you were at?) to see what they are opening times are! Going to go over with MIL after work today.

jojobil looking forward to hearing all about your scan today

stac14 · 16/02/2010 12:57

it probably is becky is it in kingsgate retail park? x

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 16/02/2010 13:17

Yep that will be the one!

stac14 · 16/02/2010 13:46

you will like it lol. Mind get any car seat checked before you buy x

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 16/02/2010 14:15

Yeh that was a great tip! i'm hoping the maxicosi cabrio fits in my car as that is the only one compatible with the icandy! This is so COMPLICATED!!! Thanks though, i wouldn't even have thought of that... i am a little concerned as i have a clio which is smaller than your focus!

beckyg123 · 16/02/2010 14:19

stac sorry forgot to ask- did you get the isofix for the car seat or just going to use seatbelt itself?

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/02/2010 15:26

Hi thanks for your replies Ive been feeling it move quite a bit since I last posted and my bump is still there in the morning but more pronounced in the evening which is to be expected I guess.

Thanks for the reassurance though

stac14 · 16/02/2010 16:00

becky my car doesnt have isofix but if yours does you should be fine. its the maxicosi cabrio we got but will have to be front seat with air bag switched off, i'm not too bothered about that as its me that uses the car all the time means baby is beside me

glad your feeling more assured dh21, how have you been feeling otherwise? [smmile]

OP posts:
Chulita · 16/02/2010 16:10

Get Isofix seats if you can! That would be my tip of the day, DD's seat was seatbelt fastened and it used to drive me mad strapping her in when it was raining. We got one for Finlet that's an Isofix base and the seat clicks into that and it's brilliant! Also if you get the Maxicosi Cabrio and need a seat base, get 'family fix' base ( I think it's called) then when your LO grows into a big seat you can just clip the bigger seat into the same base rather than buying a new base...

stac14 · 16/02/2010 16:29

thats what i wanted to do but my car is crap but cant afford a new one

OP posts:
Chulita · 16/02/2010 17:22

Yea, our last car didn't have isofix, we didn't intend to buy one with it but got lucky and you can get seatbelt bases which have got to be better than stretching the belt around the seat (this car has teeny seat belts compared to the last one!)

Spirael · 16/02/2010 17:30

Hi all! Been lurking for a bit, as didn't really have anything exciting to add, really. Can join in this one, though! My car (Ford Fiesta 2005) doesn't have ISOFix and it can't have it added later, unfortunately.

I think I'm going to be going for the Britax B-Smart 4 travel system (will know for certain after playing with one at the Baby Show on Sat!) and go with the baby seat that clips into that.

There's an ISOFix base you can get to clip the seat onto, but there's also a 'belted' base that is almost the same. Instead of clipping to the fittings it has to be held with the seatbelts and a supporting leg. It's probably a fiddle to get in initially, but it's designed then to be static and you just clip the car seat into it - so no standing around in the rain at the supermarket!

I mention it because MaxiCosi might do something similar? Sure, it's not quite as good as ISOFix... But for those of us with cars that don't have the option, it might make a good alternative! The back seats rarely get used in my car, so I intend just to leave the base fixed most of the time.

Also, MaxiCosi or other car seat providers might also have on their website what cars the seat is compatible with? I found that the Britax one is definitely compatible in the two side back seats for a Ford Fiesta of my year, which makes me happier about ordering the seat.

Hope that helps a little!

In other news... Not much. I'm feeling vague movements, I think, but can't really tell the difference between what is baby and what is me, currently. I guess eventually I'm bound to figure it out! My bump is starting to get noticable now, which I'm liking as I look less like I just pigged out over Christmas.

Got myself a nice Tankini cheap from here so I can do a bit of swimming. Also won a nice Jojo Maman Bebe dress like this one on eBay, to wear at a couple of early summer weddings I'm due to be attending. A bit of retail therapy is good now and then... As are pancakes.

Spirael · 16/02/2010 17:32

X post with Chulita. Great minds think alike, it seems! Regarding the belted bases, at least.

Though your post is much more concise than mine...

kapars · 16/02/2010 17:51

emster Your midwife sounds horrible. I wonder if it was the same one I had for 16 weeks - she was from St george's not Whipps and was half an hour late and then rushed through everything and I had no time for questions and NO FREE STUFF!
I felt flutters at 16 weeks though didn't know what it was but it was and is the baby.
stac and becky good luck with physio. My maternity belt seems to be making my hips worse.
I don't know when this energetic glowing phase is suppoed to happen as I feel knackered again now too.
Scan on Thurs!

Hello,
ooh exciting the second scans are happening now - congrats on yours MLIC. Mine is on Monday, can't wait I know there are a couple of others the same day - BeckyG, getting excited now?!

Re the car seats, yes I had a seatbelted base last time, for my mamas and papas seat, and that was pretty good, just click in and out as the others said. Not quite as sturdy as isofix, but less fiddly than wrapping seatbelts round the seat every time. Will prob use again for this little one, although it needs a good clean as is a bit manky

I am also having the double buggy dilemma, i really want to try and get by without one (DD will be 2.4) and I think i'll try a sling. DD will be in nursery 2 days so can use the current one (mamas and papas which turns from pram into stroller) as pram then and if she gets tired and needs to go in then the baby can use the sling. Also might get a buggy board as another option. I guess if it doesn't work then will end up buying a double...

Got that baby taste back today and a touch of nausea, yuck, thought i was over all that. Sorry to violet and others still suffering, it sucks.

stac14 · 16/02/2010 18:29

hey spireal i have a ford focus 2001 (v.old) tried to buy the base for maxicosi, britax and mamas and papas but the belt buckle was too close to the chair which during a crash would shatter the seat, so it defo wasnt through choice to have to use seatbelts, so when getting your chair get them to check. I am considering going to halfords to see if the can do anything. Oh the stress of car chairs lol

Great news bout scan mlic rotten you had to wait ages for it though. Did you find out the sex?

Cant wait to see physio tomorrow kapars and i also dont have the energetic glow. If i've had a few busy days i am knackered for days afterwards lol
