becky im glad someone else feels my pain, DP doesnt understand he just says hmm whenever I complain but god if it was happening to him I wouldnt hear the end of it, I guess he just doesnt know what to say/do to help, bless lol.

Anyone watch One Born Every Minute last night then? Just wondered if anyone had any comments on it, I cant believe how long Joy has been in there! Poor thing she must really want that baby out now!

viksam · 03/03/2010 20:52

orange thanks for the info. It is difficult to know as you dont know how big you will be or how ur going to feel. My job is quite physical and quite demanding too so maybe caution is advisable?

WSS Yeah thats the only thing that is concerning about the scan if it shows an anomaly, that must have been horrible for you, what a shame. Do you think they will look over the baby then if everything looks good we can let my sis in?

MIL has just offered to buy us something, how cool and nice, parents are going to pay for the cot and the pram is ordered so things seem to be coming together a bit. Also just heard that an aunty in law who i hardly ever see is knitting a baby shawl for us, arnt people nice.

Baby is moving a lot now and DH has just seen my belly bulge which was nice.

Chulita Whats CAT, am i being a thicko?? That would be ace if you wouldnt mind. Trying to think if i have anything minature i can send in thanks........

viksam · 03/03/2010 20:56

.......I watched OBEM, made my blart when Joy finally had her baby, she was so sweet and honest and her DH was lovely too i thought. Hope my baby pops out like that other womans!!

Wonderstuff · 03/03/2010 20:58

Hi all, just caught up with the last 3 days threads - took ages!

Whoever was asking about the kari-me carrier? I have a mobywrap which I think is similar (mine is an unstructured stretchy wrap) and I love it so much! I got it when dd was about 4mo and carried her until she was about 14mo - I could carry her for an hour before she got too heavy when she was one (and she was on the 75 centile for weight) Do not whatever you do buy a mothercare own brand carrier - really rubbish will give you backache - mine went on to ebay after a couple of outings. Have friends who loved the babybjorn carrier but I am sure that a stretchy wrap must be better for weight distribution.

kk piles and thrush sounds horrid - good that the doctor is being cautious - hope it is nothing serious.

For all with snotty noses, doctor friend of mine said that nasal sprays are normally safe and recommended Beconase. She said the pharmacy will tell you to check with GP but she is convinced it is fine.

People were talking about mixed feeding - I think that it is really different for different people - and on how you mix iykwim, also on how important to you it is that lo takes a bottle. I have a couple of friends who fed exclusivly ebm for months (one for 4 and the other for 6, one hated the idea of bfing and the other couldn't get her lo to latch after a traumatic birth) so if you are able to express it is possible to keep enough supply to use bottles alot. Some people can't express at all and so obviously makes mixed feeding and maintaining supply trickier. In the early months I always expressed while dd was having a bottle, I did find though when I went back to work at 8 mo I was able to feed morning and night some days and frequently though the day on others without a problem - we fed until 2yo in the end. Obv by then she was having food aswell!

Had my scan on Tues - took bloomin ages - had a student who by the looks of things was in the first week of training who then handed over to an experienced sonographer - after poking about for about 20mins without managing to take any measurements! We found out we are having a boy - but we are telling everyone we know irl that we couldn't tell - anyone who knows me in real life take note!! Quite like it being our secret. I was pretty sure it would be a boy, this pregnancy feels so different to my last one. But now I know for sure (I know its not 100% but boy bits looked quite convincing I'd be amazed if it was wrong) I feel a bit aprehensive - seems like a big step into the unknown I guess. I'm happy, I didn't have a preference, but would be more relaxed about a girl, feel I would know what I'm doing, which I know is silly because girls can be very different.

As for names we are thinking Daniel - to be known as Danny or Griffith to be called Griff. Both are in honor of my late grandfather who was pretty amazing. Am a bit worried that giving a namesake is setting an expectation - don't know whether to go for something different that would be just the baby's name iykwim. Don't know and have told dh I don't want to decide until baby gets here - see what 'fits'.

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/03/2010 20:59

Oh yeah I completely forgot she did actually have her baby in the end lol.

Did anyone see last weeks right at the beginning like the first 5 mins that woman in the birthing pool who had her baby and she was silent til the head was out then she let out one scream and the whole baby was out and the mw said "take your baby" and she was wearing just a bra (the woman not the mw)
DP and I couldnt believe how well she was doing, I know they only showed the very end stage but I got the impression she was like that from the start, very controlled!

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/03/2010 21:08

Congrats wonderstuff on finding out your having a boy, there really is alot of boys being expected on this thread!

Wonderstuff · 03/03/2010 21:09

Viksam if you decide you need to leave work before the date you have given them you can - I was actually sent home at 37weeks and I had planned to work until 38. If you become ill after 36 weeks you would normally start you maternity leave from then, your employer can insist on this. This time I plan to work until 36 weeks, I'm so looking forward to a few days on my own when dd is at nursery. It is difficult because you just don't know how you will feel till you get there. I had energy, but was so big and was in pain if I sat for any lenght of time and in pain if I stood up for too long I got quite stressed and emotional, then worried I would have a difficult baby because I was so stressed - dd turned out to be the most laid back child ever!

kkfairybrains · 04/03/2010 00:55

dh i get a real bad pain in ribs aswell.and feel like i'm moaning by saying anything to dp cause it sounds like nothhing but its really sore!
thanks for the concern everyone.my mum was saying she heard of a girl who had this bleeding out of back passage the whole way through her pregnancy and it turned out to be nothing just the piles so that has put my mind at ease. was just weird to hear the doc really voicing their concern and ringing the hospital and everything and that just scared me cause normally they just pass everything off as nothing iykwim.
wonder congrats on your boy! everyone is having boys! i have such a feeling i'm having a boy too but i dont know why cos i haven't any other preg to compare it to or anything! both names sound lovely!
was wathching obem last night and got so emotional when joy was had her baby! i just loved her and thought she was hilarious! was lovely aswell when she was telling the husband how well he had done and all!

stac14 · 04/03/2010 08:20

morning all, just a quick post, how are you all? Not caught up yet, was at the stereophonics concert last night. It was amazing but today i am totally shattered. kkfairy i have been bleeding from my back passage the mw says you either bleed openly or it fills wee pockets and becomes piles. Did the gp examine you? X

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2010 08:29

Morning

stac did you get your hair done for the concert? Hope it wasnt too crowded and no one bumped into you, I always imagine ill go to something like that and get crushed!

I didnt get to sleep til half 1 last night as DP and I were having a bit of a tiff about sex I think my hormones were making me much more worked up then I would normally get so I wouldnt let it go! I must stress me and DP never ever argue he really isnt the type to shout but then on the other hand hes not really the type to show any emotion at all, even empathy. So anyway I couldnt sleep at I was silently seething and we finally resolved the issue at half 1, then I had to be up at 8 cos the plumber came round.

Chulita · 04/03/2010 08:43

Sorry viks, not ignoring you - we had a bit of a scary day yesterday. Email me - rosie michell at googlemail dot com

I took DD to the GP in the morning because she's got permanent squits and about an hour after we got back she got this huge fever. My thermometer was reading 36 but she felt roasting...after a bit she went blue and started shaking so I took her back to the doc's and her temp was over 39 degrees! Her O2 sat was at 82% too so he wasn't too happy about that. Anyway, once we'd managed to fill her with nurofen etc and get her off to sleep my Grandad phoned to say my aunt was in hospital after a massive brain haemorrhage. (They live very close to us so we see them a lot) So yesterday was a mess and I'm hoping it's all good news for us today.
DD woke up at 5 with another 39degree fever but at the mo she's running around again so we're hoping she's over it [fingers crossed]

I liked the last OBEM, none of the dads pissed me off for one thing, and I thought Joy was so funny and her husband was really sweet!

Chulita what an awful couple of days, hope things get better for you really soon.

I was up at 5.30 with dd who was convinced it was morning! I'm shattered and feel a bit queasy. Have to go to town really later which is a bit of a mission. Might wait until after lunch. We are on a bit of a cbeebies mission at the moment - what did people do with toddlers before kids TV. Have promised myself that in the summer the TV will be not be on anywhere near as much.

Spirael · 04/03/2010 11:11

Morning all! Gosh this chat moves fast. I've not had chance to keep up lately, sorry about that. Currently at work (shh) so don't have an opportunity to read through everything right now, but will try and get up to speed again later. Been busy of late wallowing in self-pity lately after being struck down with another common cold, exactly a month after the previous one. Bah!

I'm posting mostly to indulge my overwhelming excitement that I've got my 20 week scan this afteroon at 2pm, less than three hours now! I'm a little nervous in case there's a problem, but more than anything I'm looking forward to it.

Hopefully we'll get some nice pics, I'll post them up later with the gender information - if they can tell us! However we're going to be keeping the gender a secret IRL (aside from for the future grandparents, who can be trusted not to tell) so I might not post it to the list in case someone comes snooping around and identifies my username.

Jojobil · 04/03/2010 12:41

I hope you get better all with piles, back and bleeding problems! It's awful!

There must be something in the air Wonder as my DD got up at 5.30 am too! She also came to our bed in the middle of the night and kept kicking us. My DH finally could not take it and went to her bed instead (she has a double) as she was refusing to go back... Anyway I feel exhausted today!

kkfairybrains · 04/03/2010 12:54

ooh good luck spirael! thanks for that info stac yeah she had a look and she could see a couple of piles! no bleeding yet so fingers crossed they'l get better! oh dh had that same argument a few weeks ago but the chances of it now are slim! haven't felt like it in about 2 months! and my hormones were raging before that! i'd nearly need an instruction manual at this stage!lol!
chulita hope today is a better day for u xx

bluemonkey123 · 04/03/2010 13:41

Thank you all for making me feel welcome here.
Chulita, hope today is going better for you.
And hope everyone starts to feel better from their ailments.
I feel Ok today, just paranoid that I smell or that my top does. I had a shower this morning (as usual) but keep smelling something near me and am so paranoid that it's me and something to do with hormones!!

Good luck with your scan Spirael, there must be some way you can let us know what you are having???

For those whose DD's got up at 5,30 this morning have you tried the "disney princess go glow clock" - teaches children not to get up before whichever time you set it to...

Jojobil · 04/03/2010 14:03

Hello bluemonkey I get the smell thing too and have a shower in the morning and in the evening But I think it's because our smell sense is much more sensitive whilst pregnant!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2010 14:44

kk I think im one of those people that will want it all the way through pregnancy!

spirael really want to know how the scan went, did you find out the sex?

kkfairybrains · 04/03/2010 15:38

maybe its a boy thing dh???!!!!!!

Havent had time to catch up yet, just popping on quickly. Saw physio earlier now have a pair of crutches...blimey how sexy do i feel...not!

Also for the bargain hunters out there tescos are doing two plain white baby hooded bath towels on special offer for £2.99. I bought one pack and opened them and they feel pretty decent quality, quite pleased so have bought 2 more! will catch up later after littleuns in bed x

Spirael · 04/03/2010 17:31

Hi all, I'm back from my scan now at LGI! Everything went fine, LO seems absolutely perfect. No causes for concern at all. All the measurements were spot on average, except for the leg length...which was a touch longer than average. Given that DH is 6 foot... I think I can tell who baby is taking after!

For those asking about the gender, yes we did manage to find out in the end. Though it took a second scan, as LO decided to squat in my pelvis where nothing could been seen for ages! The sonographer was pretty much sure that LO is a girl though, in the end. However, shh! We're keeping that a secret IRL from most people! If anyone updates the list, put me down as a MYSTERY or something.

My placenta is apparently anterior, right in the middle at the front, which explains why I haven't been feeling as many movements as some, and why the movements I have been feeling always seem to be low down. Given how much LO was racing around my abdomen and kicking the wand however, I get the feeling I'm in for a pounding once those muscles get stronger!

Anyway, off to celebrate now with some Appletizer and nice chocolates! Pics from the scan are in my profile.

viksam · 04/03/2010 18:57

Im so annoyed, i just poped upstairs for a minuite and the dog ate some grapes and a small piece of left over double decker that I was saving to have with a cupa. The problem is both are poisonous to dogs. I have phoned the vets and they said he should be fine and just to watch him. Im usually really carefull with things like this, just takes one slip. He seems fine but its just another thing we really dont need.
Chulita Thanks for the info I'll be in touch. Cant believe the day you had yesterday, hows everyone now, hope they are both improving.
spireal So glad ur scan was good, great pics, face is so clear, its so hard to believe that its totally formed and nearly viable.
GG that sucks that u have crutches but if it helps thats gota be a good thing. I need to go to tesco and asda but im working all weekend which is very annoying, im really starting to resent work because there are so many other things to do!

Chulita · 04/03/2010 19:02

Good news on the scan spirael Your pics are really clear!

DD has had a fever on and off all day, I'm hoping she sleeps tonight. I just feel drained.

My best friend is ttc and I wanted to get her a gift - anyone know anything that would be nice?

I went off sex completely with DD, off it again this time but my friend was a sex addict for her pg and she had a girl...who knows!

But yea, gift ideas over here please ladies!
