Hi all, just caught up with the last 3 days threads - took ages!
Whoever was asking about the kari-me carrier? I have a mobywrap which I think is similar (mine is an unstructured stretchy wrap) and I love it so much! I got it when dd was about 4mo and carried her until she was about 14mo - I could carry her for an hour before she got too heavy when she was one (and she was on the 75 centile for weight) Do not whatever you do buy a mothercare own brand carrier - really rubbish will give you backache - mine went on to ebay after a couple of outings. Have friends who loved the babybjorn carrier but I am sure that a stretchy wrap must be better for weight distribution.
kk piles and thrush sounds horrid - good that the doctor is being cautious - hope it is nothing serious.
For all with snotty noses, doctor friend of mine said that nasal sprays are normally safe and recommended Beconase. She said the pharmacy will tell you to check with GP but she is convinced it is fine.
People were talking about mixed feeding - I think that it is really different for different people - and on how you mix iykwim, also on how important to you it is that lo takes a bottle. I have a couple of friends who fed exclusivly ebm for months (one for 4 and the other for 6, one hated the idea of bfing and the other couldn't get her lo to latch after a traumatic birth) so if you are able to express it is possible to keep enough supply to use bottles alot. Some people can't express at all and so obviously makes mixed feeding and maintaining supply trickier. In the early months I always expressed while dd was having a bottle, I did find though when I went back to work at 8 mo I was able to feed morning and night some days and frequently though the day on others without a problem - we fed until 2yo in the end. Obv by then she was having food aswell!
Had my scan on Tues - took bloomin ages - had a student who by the looks of things was in the first week of training who then handed over to an experienced sonographer - after poking about for about 20mins without managing to take any measurements! We found out we are having a boy - but we are telling everyone we know irl that we couldn't tell - anyone who knows me in real life take note!! Quite like it being our secret. I was pretty sure it would be a boy, this pregnancy feels so different to my last one. But now I know for sure (I know its not 100% but boy bits looked quite convincing I'd be amazed if it was wrong) I feel a bit aprehensive - seems like a big step into the unknown I guess. I'm happy, I didn't have a preference, but would be more relaxed about a girl, feel I would know what I'm doing, which I know is silly because girls can be very different.
As for names we are thinking Daniel - to be known as Danny or Griffith to be called Griff. Both are in honor of my late grandfather who was pretty amazing. Am a bit worried that giving a namesake is setting an expectation - don't know whether to go for something different that would be just the baby's name iykwim. Don't know and have told dh I don't want to decide until baby gets here - see what 'fits'.
