BettyButterknife congrats on your scan. Know how you feel as I felt the same after my scan on Friday altho expecting first lo and its a girl. But now my head is already filled with thoughts of a baby girl and trawling websites for cute clothes that are NOT pink! You will be stoked again soon.

On the subject of inappropriate touching the thing that has been driving me mad is when people know your pregnant and meet you in the street but stare at your bump rather than you. My neighbour was looking right at my stomach so I eventually said, I dont have a bump yet, give it a chance to grow, she was quite embarressed but it was very rude. Only had a couple of tummy pats but they were friends so wasnt too muchof a problem. Also a whopper I was told was if the heartbeat is over 140 bpm it is a girl or under is a boy. What crap have you all been told?

Thanks everyone about the scan, I am very lucky to be getting another look. The sonographer asked it was a problem for me to go and I said not at all I love seeing lo lol, I was just a bit disappointed as I wanted to go get some gender specific clothes but obviously I was just very happy that lo is healthy. Absolutely shattered today xxx

Morning all, so I cant sleep cos Im just too excited! I usually sleep til about 8 when DP gets up for work and comes in to say bye to me. Less than 3 hours til I see my lovely bubba!

stac I got told as my baby kicks so hard and so much ive been told it couldnt be a boy as boys are too lazy to kick muck so it must be a girl, WRONG!!! Also another think i was shocked about was when i went to tell doctor i was pregnant she looked all sad and said is that a good thing? I understand that some girls go in wanting an abortion but it really burst my excitment bubble like i was wrong to be pregnant!

memphis thats terrible, surely your gp should wait to see how you feel about it. My mw on monday said it could be a boy because of how active it is, they have no clue x

HEYYYY!! Back from the scan everything is all ok and im having a lovely healthy boy!
SO SO SO pleased , we're calling him Dylan.

Thanks stac I feel great Im so pleased hes healthy, of course I would have loved a girl and think I got it in my head that it was, but there were very clear boy bits when she showed us. I know that I will love this baby so much, gender doesnt matter at the end of the day, and we're not stopping at one!

Also I forgot to say, Im having another scan at 36 weeks as the placenta is a bit low, its not covering the cervix but the edge of the placenta is almost touching it so will need to be checked to see if it moves up, I really hope it does.

didnt get back on last night to wish u luck dh but it seems u done alright without it! yay for the bouncing baby boy!!!! oooh its so exciting! well sone stac on your scan too and ya lucky thing getting to see him or her again! hopefully next week they'l show their bits!! anyone thats had their scans is it obvious what sex it is when you look or would u ever be able to tell if you weren't told? we'r not finding out but i'm getting very excited about evryone else finding out and now i want to know! and i know i'm gonna be searching the screen for little bits next week!

I think it was really obv at my scan, but I suppose boy bits are more obv, I could clearly see it though as could DP, cant say about girl bits as Ive never seen them on a scan before.

We couldnt see anything at all until she put the probe right between his legs so they are well trained in hiding the sex if you dont want to find out!

kkfairy it's basically all shadow and light. If you look at pictures of boys and girls from 20 week scan you should be able to spot the difference. On a girls there will be nothing, whereas for a boy the will be like a light "line" between the legs... It's difficult to see if you don't see an example....

It's a lighter line between the thighs ;) That's what I mean when I say you need to know what you are looking for;) The doc was like "what do you think" and I was like "it's a boy" and my husband said "I can not see anything". The doctor said "yes your wife is right. I'm not allowed to say 100% but it is a 100% boy."
I just looked at a couple of scans before and it becomes apparent....

I havent really got any clear pics of between the thighs but she showed us clearly his boy bits, the more I think about it the more excited I am to buy boy things, I always thought I wouldnt find it exciting as I always pictured having a girl first. Cant wait to go shopping and start getting the spare room set up as a nursery!

i only found out on friday were having a boy and the dining room table is already full of boy clothes, think i need to go outside leicester to buy more, bought everything i like here already!!! kkfairy the boy bits were obvious, ive obviously never seen girl bits on a scan but my friend said her midwife called her girls bit a classic burger shot! and once pointed out she said it did look like a burger!

Congrats on your baby boy memphis Im going to go shopping soon, maybe on Fri with my mum. She said shes going to buy us a few bits and bobs.

thats my cousins wee boys name dh he is a great boy so defo a fab name lol. Hopefully it the placenta will move up hun, good to see lo so far on too. DS was scanned right up to due date it is fascinating

jojo lovely pic hun, not sure I can see the boy bits, I thought it was the white bit at the bottom end. The Sonographer said there were no obvious signs of lo being a boy but she wouldnt confirm it was a girl either, do you think she is just being cautious?

Who's all having girls? Maybe 2010 is the year for boys lol

memphis I did a bit of clothes shopping at the weekend, but dp wont let me go mad till we know what it is, his dad said we should wait till the lo is here let it be a surprise, I would prefer to know lol

stac she probably could not see for sure... Sometime you just can not see. My baby had crossed legs for most of the scan and then spread them at the end But most of the time if there is no boy bits then it's a girl... Makes sense! Hihihi. You will know soon enough.
