Sorry just realised that I addressed the real nappy info to the wrong person and x posted as well - d'oh.

stac14 · 21/02/2010 21:03

kkfairy the baby will just have moved towards your back hun, you wont have done it any damage as its protected in there. Sure alls fine, mine goes soft from time to time then lo kicks so know its fine

viksam I think sharings caring lol but great to be able to find out what everyone else is going through. Think kk and wonder's advice are good though so will try the weetabix and speak to the doc

dh21 it is quite hard to fill the days isnt it, even worse when you feel tired. Im going for lunch with friends this week too but not till the end of the week. Are you signing up for antenatal classes?

wonder sounds like your weekend wasnt too bad, but you must be shattered. Was there anyone else you knew there?

Hey ladies,
Hope you've all had lovely weekend.
I've been reading posts about how tired a lot of you have been which has made me feel better. I thought we were supposed to be full of energy this trimester but I feel utterly worn out! I went for a nap at 3pm yesterday and then woke up at 6pm. Had dinner got all dressed up and ready for friend's birtday party but felt so exhausted my husband and decided to stay in on sofa instead. Felt exhausted all day today too. Anyway, glad it is not just me.
glaston You're wearing the maternity belt aren't you? Is it making any difference? Mine seems to be making it worse and I feel more conscious of my hip pain with it on. I just got a jolt of pain and burst into tears..i'm just afraid of it getting worse. I was so being good and doing loads of yoga etc. tryng to keep my fitness but now I feel like I can't do much at all which is a bit depressing. I have my next physio in a couple of weeks.
viksam I had a similar type pain for few days which came and went. I am eating tons of fruit and veg every day and porridge for breakfast which really helps with constipation!

Wonderstuff · 21/02/2010 21:26

Oh brown bread seems to make a massive difference to my bowels - if I eat white bread I just don't have enough fibre.
stac I knew the hen and her sister, so there were 9 women there I didn't know at all. But will be good to have people I have met at the wedding because I only know the brides immidiate family. I think it is only 3 weeks away now, am getting quite excited about dd getting all dressed up as flower girl.

kapers sounds horrid, sorry you are feeling so rubbish.

kk I am sure that stac is right - there is room in your back, I read about a woman in a magazine who had a totally concealed pregnancy, she was a model and they published a photo of her a couple of weeks before she gave birth and her tummy was totally flat! She discovered stretch marks in her back after birth.

nixster28 · 21/02/2010 22:25

Hello everyone, i am pregnant with my first and due on 16th July. Very unexpected pregnancy as i have polycystic ovaries and only had 2 periods in the whole of 2009. After spending 6 months in St Lucia i came home and only found out i was pregnant at 9 weeks. I am gonna be doing the single mum on benefits deal tho and i am absolutely petrified. Father of baby is happy but lives in St Lucia. I had a miscarriage 10 years ago and have not felt any movements from baby yet. Sorry for massive first post but wanted to get on here before my 20 weeks scan on thursday xx

flexab23 · 21/02/2010 23:30

Hi Nixster welcome to the July thread! Congratulations on your pregnancy, everyone on here has diff circumstances just good to be able to vent your feelings and get some good advice from some sensible ladies who aren't sick of talking about babies and pregnancy symptoms!! Good luck with your scan.

PS all I just won my icandy travel system on ebay, finally!! Now I just need to persuade my DH to drive to Norwich from London and back - my driving brain is a bit dodge these days...can't wait to see it and hope it is in decent condition as described. Saved about £400 - woo hoo! Today i love ebay. Night all, here comes Monday...

kkfairybrains · 22/02/2010 01:23

beckyg123 · 22/02/2010 08:06

Thanks for all the advice on nappies- will get looking later today!!! Yes chulita have a feeling the research could be very draining but worth it to get a good deal!

I was 20 weeks yesterday!!!

Scan this afternoon so just going into work for the morning- had some lovely calls from family last night wishing me luck for scan- it made me nervous!

My cousin gave birth to a lovely baby girl last night too! Can't wait to see photos- she is in southampton so a long drive from glasgow to see baby!

Welcom nixter what a wonderful surprise for you!

Re. bowel probs- not sure how it works in other parts of UK but in scotland we can get free over the counter meds if you register with chemist in minor injuries clinic. will save a trip to GP and pharmacist will know what you can and can't use. Already saved a fortune in gaviscon!

wonder glad to hear you survived the hen night! welldone

stac14 · 22/02/2010 08:19

Just taking a quick break from work to wish everyone good luck for their scans today. Let us know how you get on!

Welcome to nixter - what a lovely surprise!

beckyg123 - I had no idea about the minor injuries clinic thing - must investigate!

stac14 · 22/02/2010 14:53

Hi ladies, hows things going? I went for a check up. Lo was moving about mad so midwife was struggling to find the heartbeat, started to get scared but she went and got another doppler and it came through loud and clear. Everything else well, midwife says i have a healthy active baby by the way it was kickin at the doppler.

How are you all? Welcome nixster hows pregnancy been treating you? mlic take it you have an energy burst today lol. Its nice and sunny here but still cold, was nice to be out and about.

Hey ladies, thanks for your warm welcome. Woke up to snow today so having a quiet day at home.

stac i dont think that pregnancy suits me very much as i've serious acne from day 1 and terrible bloating and indigestion. I've never been a very lady-like woman but some of the belching would make big burly blokes proud!!
Glad to hear your check up went well and that baby is very active.
How soon did you all start feeling movements? I'm not sure if i've felt any yet but then not entirely sure how certain i would be and not just mistake it for gas.
Off to make a cuppa (decaf of course!) xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/02/2010 16:39

Well Ive actually been quite busy today after I thought I didnt have anything to do, went to visit my friend, then went to Tesco, then changed the bed, then sat down with a cuppa cos I started to feel a bit like Id overdone things, then emptied the washing machine and dishwasher, then washed a few bits up and cleaned kitchen and Ive suddenly realised its 4:40! Have to start dinner in an hour!

stac I havent really looked into the antenatal classes, my mw hasnt said anything about them I cant afford to pay for them and I dont know what my local hospital does. Im going to join the aquanatal classes in the next couple of months when it gets a bit warmer.

stac14 · 22/02/2010 16:40

nixster I'm 19wks at the moment with my 2nd and have been feeling movement for a couple of weeks. This pregnancy for me is very different than my last, seem to pick up everything lol. Have you had your 20wk scan? Mine is next monday. Want to know what we're having, what bout you? Any names picked? X

OP posts:
stac14 · 22/02/2010 16:46

dh21 our hospital runs them, but i read if you have a low household income like me the nct offer free classes, may be worth looking at. (hope you dont think i'm being cheeky). Typical when you think your getting a quiet day and it ends up busy lol. X

Jojobil · 22/02/2010 17:18

Hi girls! Glad about the check ups and scans going well I've been really hormonal today but in a "good" way. Watching this over and over again and bursting out laughing like a mad person!
I know it's silly but if it make you feel 10% as silly and funny as me then it's worth watching

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/02/2010 17:24

Thanks stac no I dont think your being cheeky at all! your being really helpful, more than my mw lol.

Has anyone else noticed the skin on your belly feeling cold even when the rest of u is warm?? Is this a normal thing to have?

beckyg123 · 22/02/2010 18:04

Evening!
Had my scan this afternoon and it was without a doubt one of the best experiences ever! I was totally surprised by how big the baby was and how much detail we could see! The radiographer described baby as "sickeningly perfect!" she did loads of measurements and looked over every part of baby- described everything in detail to us and let us just sit and have a look at it moving for a while!
Oh! we have a perfect little baby! DH and i went out for a while after and chose some lovely little babygrows, vests and hats from next! white with cute little rabbits!
Keeping the sex a surprise!

Baby was moving so much it was really difficut to get a still photo so she gave us about 10 photos- none are particularly clear but will choose the best to upload later on.

beckyg123 · 22/02/2010 18:12

stac glad to see all went well with MW today. Is that the first time you've heard this LOs heartbeat?

orangefizz hope all went well for you too

violet the pharmacist in boots told me about the clinic. Its for anyone entitled to free prescriptions. I had a cold at the time so got menthol crystals, paracetmol and gaviscon for nothing! They like you to register with one pharmacy so they keep a record of what your getting.

nixster this is my first- i'm 20 weeks and started feeling very slight fluttery movements from about 14 weeks (although i don't think my GP beleives me!) at first it was only occasionally at night when i lay flat on my back and was really relaxed.

DH21 hope you get a chance to relax tonight!

stac14 · 22/02/2010 19:28

becky thats fab news bout lo hun, do you know the sex or did you choose not to know? that is the first time i have heard lo's heartbeat but he/she has been active for a while so wasnt too concerned until mw couldnt find the heartbeat lol

has anyone heard that if the heart rate is faster than 140 its a girl but below 140 its a boy? xxx

OP posts:
orangefizz · 22/02/2010 19:48

well had my scan today as well. Was amazing, got to see everything in detail and all is well, baby kept hiding its face with its hands! Am pleased the placenta is high as well, as last time i had a low-lying one which carried risk of needing c-section of it did not move up (which it did). Will try and post a picture later...

becky congrats on your scan, so good to see the lo's isn't it?

Baby has been really active ever since scan, think it got annoyed at being poked at!!! Oh and no we didn't ask the sex, DH reckons he saw boy bits, but i don't think the sonographer lingered long enough on that bit to tell!

stac14 glad you heard the HB, so reassuring isn't it?

stac14 · 22/02/2010 19:53

Great news orangefizz I am so looking forward to mine next week. It is really reassuring to hear lo, cant wait to see your pic xx

OP posts:
viksam · 22/02/2010 20:18

Nixter Hi, Welcome, Dont be scared to ask anything on here, we dont have all the answers but we certainly have opinions......especially on the issue of constipation, which im sure you will all be relieved to know, its been relieved!! Im very happy about that, it made me feel rubbish!
Becky Fab news on ur scan, sounds wonderfull, i so hope im telling the same story on Wednesday!
Im a bit peed off today, i went back to work today and had 3 comments that my baby must be tiny as i wasnt showing very much, made me feel a bit rubbish. One woman was incredulous that i will be 20 wks on thursday. Is it wrong to take it to heart, im not a very big person and neither is my husband but i still just look like i ate all the pies!
