Mornin'
I need opinions please....I have been a bit constipated for a few days now and since about 6ish last night i have had a bit of a pain in my lower left side almost in my groin but defo in the soft tissue rather than the groin. Its not a 'pain'but its not an ache either, am i making sence? I stayed in bed this morning and had a bit of extra kip and i think it has done me some good but still feel lethargic and tired, any ideas anyone??

stac14 · 21/02/2010 11:51

its normal to get pains at this stage as lo is growing quickly, maybe you should go to the pharmacist for a laxative as it could be causing pain too. As for tiredness i totally feel the same today, putting it down to having been busy for the past few days why not just have a nice relaxing day hun, hope you feel better xx

Thanks stac I think ur right, it is subsiding a bit but do think a laxative might help. I stayed in bed like i said and came down a bit ago to a house covered in mud. One of the cats has a problem and cant seen to go to the loo (sounds familiar!) so is digging up the garden three or four times an hour and of course bringing all the mud in on her feet, we have taken her to the vet but it seems we need to go back. Its ok if you keep on top of it but my DH had done NOTHING so just had to clean the kitchen floor and get the dustbuster out and dettol the surfaces Rahhhhhh, he jumped into action when I said but its not good enough he should have done it off his own back, god knows what he will be like with LO, i expect he will take great care of the baby but nothing else in the process. Now i have given myself a stress headache as we had a few words. I probably feel shit coz of having to go back to work tomorrow too, I really dont want to.......i know it will be fine when i get there but i have enjoyed my week and proved to myself that i can easily fill up the hours and then some without working!

flexab23 · 21/02/2010 12:31

Afternoon ladies (morning for me as had lie in although awake at 4am again for several hours - arghhh - too much thinking it's driving me crazy and I'm knackered! Going to try my dream geni tonight to see if it helps, got it 2nd hand off ebay for about £30.

Did that gender predictor Viksam gave link to - thanks. 40% boy/59% girl (what about that other 1%?!?) but all the actual signs and feelings pointed to a boy. We'll see on Friday. How do you post pictures on here?

Oh so don't want weekend to end but need to get myself sorted, friends coming tonight for horror film, I love scary movies! Also someone picking up my bike I offered on freecycle and getting some reusable nappies off her in exchange. I NEVER thought I would be excited about 2nd hand nappies - who knew?!

Enjoy the rest of sunday all.

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 12:55

Thank you so much to everyone who posted re. the tired and emotional feelings- deep down i knew it was normal but it is so reassuring to hear so many of you are feeling/have felt the same way! THANKS!

I (along with some encouragement from DH, my mum and everyone else who i spoke to on friday!) have forced myself to properly rest this weekend. Spend most of the day yesterday reading in my comfy chair in sunny window in what is soon to be LOs room! I plan on keeping the chair their for feeding so was able to relax knowing in a few months my little bundle will be in my arms in that same spot! LO must have known as was wriggling about more than ever before!!!

I have had 2 excellent nights sleeps with my new pillow! stac got mine for same price in mothercare. It feels amazing this morning to wake up so refreshed! I've been back reading my book this morning and plan a similar afternoon although might have to put some washing on at some point!!!

whoever was talking about healthy eating- i really need to join in! I hadn't been too bad but am starting to slip into bad habbits which won't be helping the low mood. I have made a sugarfree jelly and put frozen berries and mango in the mix! i'm really looking forward to it. Also had some homemade veg soup in the freezer so taken that out for dinner. wow- fruit and veg all in one meal! its been a while

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 12:59

stac yeh at royal tomorrow for scan. Appt not til 1.30pm! Its going to be a long morning! You just in for MW appt?

orangefizz we've just over 24 hours to wait now! lol

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 13:02

flexab i think i might put a "wanted" post on my freecycle site! good idea! i would love to use reuseable nappies but they are so expensive!!! got a few things to clear out too so i might use next weekend to get organised- went though a phase of using freecycle a lot but not used it for ages! Thanks!

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 13:05

viksam might just be stretching pains- i spoke to my GP about mine when i was worried as was really painful. GP was right as after having pain for a few days my bump popped out further!!! I have been using fibogel a bit lately as not been terribly "regular"! it seems to do the trick for me. Hope you get some relief soon!

stac14 · 21/02/2010 13:26

viksam think i also need a laxative, it doesnt do any harm and will defo get rid of the blockage so to speak. Hope your cats of hun, I have the vet with the dog tomorrow too

becky glad your feeling better, sometimes you just have to accept you need to slow down. Yeah its just a mw appointment my scan iis next monday cant wait. I love this pillow my bump seemed to be getting squashed now its all cosy lol

flexi I to have just arisen again woke early with the kids and bump wriggling but felt shattered so sneaked in a half hor snooze. Is there a freecycle for each area? as I have an exerise i could give away its taking up much needed space lol

hope everyones having a good day, dp is now away to golf so a bit of peace and quiet lol

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 14:49

stac freecycle is on yahoo groups- you register with your local group (e.g.glasgow). Its amazing what things people will use- someone picked up all our old garden rubble to use to fill foundations! it was great when we were moving house last time, really helped us to clear out!

orangefizz · 21/02/2010 15:43

afternoon all, hope you're enjoying your sunday

beckyg I know, so exciting! (but also a little nervous now in case all is not well...)

viksam last week i had a pain in my side like you described for a day and i was getting worried about it, but it came and went at the same time i could feel gas moving about (!) and eventually disappeared after a good trip to the toilet so i think it was trapped wind, i guess everything is a bit squished up in there at the mo. Hope yours is better soon.

stac14 thanks i will try and find out about a physio referral this week.

viksam · 21/02/2010 15:52

Hi Guys,
I have been to the supermarket and brought fruit, raisins(cant do prunes!)and some ginger ale!and had veg soup for lunch. I also got a laxative which I'll have if the above doesnt work. The pain has gone a bit but still feel uncomfortable. Thanks everyone for the advice, heres hoping theres some developments soon!

stac14 · 21/02/2010 16:07

viksam I got some movement after increasing my fruit intake but I have to say (sorry for tmi) its sore on the way out so I think I need to get something to soften in up (sorry again)

so excited for all you getting scans this week, wish it was me. still lo is quite active so taking it as a good sign xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/02/2010 17:28

stac I just stayed on the sofa most of the day and then went to see my parents and now doing dinner but I feel SO tired, like my eyelids are heavy and its such an effort to do anything. Should prob get used to it lol.

Chulita · 21/02/2010 18:45

becky we use reusables with DD and we got them new, 15 of them for £200ish. Ok so it sounds like a lot but that's all the nappies she'll need til she's potty trained and we can use them for this one too so it's a big hit and then that's it. (She's got the squits at the mo so in 'spozzie cos I hate rinsing out cloth filled with runs!)
Lovin' the constipation talk, lol! It's like that Senokot advert on tv

beckyg123 · 21/02/2010 19:09

Cheers chulita can you recommend a brand? or a good website i can reearch them?
there just seems to be so much to learn!!! Was in mothercare having a look- wow they have changed a lot since i used to help fold the big squares for my wee brother! I take it you use the outside pants with the folded thick cloth in the middle? are there liners like the one my mum used to use (looked like tumble dryer sheets!)? How many of each size did you get? or can you buy a pack with everything you need?

Wow sorry, thats a big lot of questions!

Chulita · 21/02/2010 19:19

We use Bumgenius Version 3 which is a birth-to-potty nappy and it works very well for us. Researching them will do your head in (did mine!) but it's worth it. I get most of mine from here but there are absolutely shedloads of sites. If you want a few more I can link them in. Have a look at this to start with perhaps.
We use the BG during the day which are so easy, you stuff the liner they come with into the pocket and then use it like a disposable. For nighttime we use a hemp nappy and a plastic outer because DD wears it for about 14 hours and the BG just can't hack! You only need the one size of BG so we got 15 of those (we actually only need about 10 now she's older) and 4 of the night nappies (we use Ella's House Bumhuggers) and 2 night outers (Motherease Airflow).
I tried a lot of types and these are the ones that worked for us, but every baby's a different shape. Gloucestershire did this nappy trial which was good, your council might do similar? Ooh yes, and Minki Huggle are a huge but brilliant night nappy too.
Sorry for the huge post!

stac14 · 21/02/2010 19:25

dh21 I know exactly how you feel, I have loads on tomorrow and ds isnt feeling great so hoping he will be well enough for school.

becky did you join mothercares mother and baby group? the booklet they gave me at the time had information about reusable nappies and the bounty book that came in your pack from the midwife did too.

DS has a cold, wee luv is feeling quite sorry for himself. This may sound selfish but I hope I dont catch it, I have had loads of them since I found out I was preggers lol

xxxx

viksam · 21/02/2010 19:26

Chulita Whats the deal with reusables then, do u have a liner in there? Do u think its kinder on the baby than disposables? I quite like the idea but not sure how it works in practice.
Stac isnt it funny the things we get to talk about on here, thanks for the info though it does make u feel better knowing that ur not alone in the bunged up stakes!
DH I have done nothing for the last three days and still feel tired, absolutly dreading work tomorrow, I'm sure I'll be shattered by the end of the day! Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend. x

viksam · 21/02/2010 19:32

Chulita sorry x posted, ur big post told me what i needed thanks.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/02/2010 19:52

Im hoping my friend can see me tomorrow otherwise Ill have nothing to do all day! I would go out but its hard to think of places to go without needing to spend money. Plus going out depends on the weather too.

Only 8 days til the scan though!

kkfairybrains · 21/02/2010 20:19

ooh so excited for everyones scans! seems like no length ago we were all on tenterhooks waiting on our first scans!
vik them pains you are describing definately sounds like round ligament pain.just stretching really.i get them too and was worried but my mind was put at ease when i found out they were normal. on the constipation thing i had the problem before i ever got preggers that i might not go for a few days or even a week sometimes but since i've got preg i eat weetabix every morn and things are very regular! might be just a little tip to save it happening again.but would def get a laxative like stac said to get things moving quick.
have a bit of a question but dont know if it sounds a bit ugghh! maybe tmi i dont know. but when dp and i done the deed today he was on top (sorry!) and forgot to like hold himself away from my belly and i didnt really think of it til after but anyway after we were finished my belly was completely soft and even he noticed it and it just felt like there was absolutely nothing in there.took a while to come back to normal and am a bit freaked out now at where did the baby go and why and have we done any damage?! may sound like a really silly question but was just wondering if the same had happened to anyone else?
am in complete awe of you all with the talk of the reusable nappies! not something i intend doing as seems like extra work and messy work at that! have absolutely no experience of anyone i know using them so dont know how it works and thinking about them seems like a mammoth task! would love to have your patience!

Wonderstuff · 21/02/2010 20:35

Got back from hen night this afternoon, I am glad that I never ran away to join the circus because they would have sent me back. After a 3 hour workshop I still can't juggle and have managed to pull the muscles in the front and back of my thighs so walking is painful - I tried to be super sensible, but i think it was picking up numerous dropped juggling balls that did it. Dinner was actually nice, (just a bit stressful making conversation with so many people I dont't know, I'm good at giving the impression of being confident, but am actually quite shy) I went to bed at 10, and the hotel was lovely, haven't stayed in a 4* for many years. Poor dh had a bit of a nightmare with dd who is now v. unsettled and still not in bed! Back to school tomorrow - I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm sure it will all be fine

firerise would be fab, Hook is a bit of a way and Tues are a bit hectic but maybe I'd love to join you if I can, what are the times? Hope you had fun at the baby show - what pram are you getting?

For all of you having bowel movement issues my GP prescribed lactulose syrup during my last pregnancy, it is safe in pg and softens as well as getting everything moving, because it is a syrup you can alter the dose quite easily depending how blocked you are. You can get it over the counter, but if your GP prescribes then obv. its free! It was fab in my last trimester and essential for after birth as well when I got a bit scared to go!

I need to do more pelvic floor exercises and invest in some tena I think - just had a sneeze that resulted in a change of pants nightmare.

Chulita www.goreal.org.uk is the real nappy information service, they have a search engine you can use to find local shops, nappy laundry services or nappy agents that can visit, so may be a place to start - I have modern baby popins which I wouldn't recommend they are really easy to wash, because you take off the wrapper and inside together like a disposable, but some of the liners have gone manky, they are supposed to be birth to toddler but they are too small for my 2yo and I suspect will be too big for a newborn! A friend got a load of tots bots when her baby was small and was really pleased with them. She brought 2nd hand and got a really good deal.
