stac, sorry - I don't know if that DVD's good for spd , I completely forgot about that even though you'd just put it in your post. (I blame Finlet)

Firerise · 19/02/2010 19:44

stac I go to an antenatal yoga class and there are a couple of people there with spd and they join in but are told never have their knees wider than their hips if that makes sense?

GlastonburyGoddess · 19/02/2010 19:49

Jojobil- 4 seems a lot of blankets but to be fair they?ll only be 4/5 months when the weather will probably turn chilly again and will need them and as someone else by the time ones in the wash, one in the buggy etc, you?ll probably find you?ll use them.
When ds1 was a baby I used to buy a magazine called Juneir pregnancy and baby- a fantastic magazine when was a cut above the rest, not sure that they still sell it. Anyhow each issue they had a knitting pattern in and they did a blanket one and my old foster mum knitted it-wow its gorgeous and we reserved in for christenings/special occasions only. Maybe you could ask one of them to do something like that?

Gillybean-welcome to the board and congratulations on your little boy!

stac14- well Ive been using normal ones as the other is inadequate for my needs! Sounds like a good idea if you?ve got someone with sewing skills.
You could try over the counter codeine first, that?s the 8mg codeine+500mg paracetamol. I had been using it for a few weeks before asking the dr for something else as it was ineffective. The next step up from what Im on now is 60mg, I think that?s the strongest dose, then its something like morphine, which considering how much this codeine is knocking me out, Id be zombified. Ive taken morphine before and I was completely out of it. Think Im going to have to seriously think about my work situation over the next few weeks, I desperately wanted to work till the end of june, but Im pretty sure Im only going to be able to cope with it for another month or two

To the people whove had problems with others saying stuff- people seems to home towards you when your pregnant and say stuff like this, although its hard to do the key is to try and let it go in one ear and out the other, people can be so bloody insensitive. If they continue to make comments, try and avoid them as much as possible whist your feeling vunerable.

orangefizz · 19/02/2010 19:57

Evening all, a lot to catch up on!

Stac I have got the mothercare pillow from last time (the long tubular one?) and i reckon it was pretty good.I had mild SPD (and do again this time) which is mainly bad when turning at night and walking a long way. Seems to be starting earlier this time, so may have to see someone about it. Do you get referral from GP or MW for physio?

I got some black combats yesterday from H & M, whoever was talking about them, they are great. I seem to be buying something everytime i go in there, i hate only having a few things to wear! Need to rein back a bit though as know they are only really for a few months.

I am def having a glass of red wine tonight, have had stressful week, and i reckon if it helps relax thats got to be positive for the baby right?

Becky my scan is at 2pm on Monday, so just after you!! Are you finding out sex? We are going to wait for surprise.

Chulita · 19/02/2010 20:16

I'm not drinking wine but I am having a glass of Baileys been wanting one for weeks! Just telling Finlet s/he'll have to not intake anything through the placenta in about 30 mins!

flexab23 · 19/02/2010 20:53

Hurrah for the weekend!
Had this afternoon off and spent ages lookng for baby bargains - Tesco and Sainsbury's both doing third/half price offers so got some muslins and tommee tippee bottles plus some cheapie new born basic white sleepsuits. Bidding on an travel system on ebay which ends on Sunday too, fingers crossed. Gosh I can't stop seeking out bargains at the mo!
Midwife on Monday and scan a week today - come onnnnnn! Also hoping to get our offer on new house accepted by end of next week so counting down although relieved it is the weekend as knackered...
Jojobil and MLIC how do I find out about the chinese gender predictor? Think it is a boy (based on v little!) and wedding ring thing said boy - only a week to wait - eek so excited.

About to head off to bed as I have an early start tomorrow, but just to nudge anyone looking for a Dream Genii pillow towards TKMaxx. I picked up mine from there for £35 and I've seen the same offer in their other stores in different towns. Might be worth looking as the pillows can be around £50 in some places!

Mine came with a pillowcase that has pictures of cherries on. Quite bright and cheerful, though I live in mild fear that I might start trying to munch on it during the middle of the night-!

It is very comfortable though, and I thought it was quite useful that afterwards it can also be use as a nursing cushion.

Jojobil · 19/02/2010 22:29

flexab try this Although again it did not work for my friend or me (www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html)

Wonderstuff · 19/02/2010 22:53

Firerise where are you going to yoga?

I am now dreading my weekend away - DH says I need to get a better attitude, he's right of course but I don't know why I agreed to go in the first place, i hate highly organised activities, cost a fortune and you never end up doing what you want, could have brought a pushchair for the money I'm going to end up spending this weekend. Chief organiser has enclosed a bill for all the money she has spent on outfits in her latest email - bloomin' cheek spending money without asking people first doncha think? [sulks]

Oh well should go to bed maybe I will wake up in a sunnier mood. Have been getting really grumpy over the last week, I seem OK in the morning but after lunch I get all grumpy, think I need an after lunch nap - shame dd doesn't feel the same way..

violetbubbles · 20/02/2010 07:38

Morning everyone!

Welcome to Gillybean2010 - congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thank for the yoga dvd advice Chulita and
Jojobil - I'll check out those titles on Amazon

I think I'm going shopping today for combats kkfairybrains - so excited! Think I'll get a pair of black ones as with the right tops & shoes they can be worn 'casual' or 'dressy'. I'm trying to make sure that anything I purchase is an investment, because like you say they'll only fit for a short time!

Emster - tonight is my takeaway night - we are getting an Indian takeaway from the Ashoka - yum!

Beckyg123 - Sounds like you're going through exactly what I went through earlier in the week. I was even up in the middle of the night, sitting at my kitchen window, crying about goodness knows what. I was just so upset for a few days and felt exhausted and sick. Looking back I think I might have been feeling anxious about my 20 week scan because after that I started to feel better. I'm so excited for you because you'll get to watch your LO dancing about for 30 mins on Monday! Aquanatal was brilliant today. Really good atmosphere and the regular coach was back. I stayed for relaxation afterwards and I would totally recommend that too. I won't be there this Friday because I'm at an overnight conference in Edinburgh (work stuff) but I'll definitely be there the following week!

Stac - I got my pregnancy pillow in the Mothercare sale. It's one of the long ones rather than one that wraps around you. I LOVE it. I can't get to sleep without it and sometimes I lie on the couch with it too!

Right, I'm off to read my book. This LO loves it when I read. I have totally gone off TV and am firing through at least one book a week.

Firerise · 20/02/2010 08:01

Morning,

I think I am going to have to find a good pillow thing as I woke up and rearranged all of dh's pillows to wedge around me in various positions last night as I just couldn't get comfortable. Luckily he's away for the weekend so whole bed and all the pillows to myself!

I have my hen party today too, but only going to the day bit. I have to drive 2 hours to get there without a navigator and have no idea where I'm going so could be fun!

wonderstuff, I'm doing yoga in hook every Tuesday evening, I'll send you the link. It's starting again on the 2nd march if u fancy joining me? Good luck with your weekend, makes me realise mine isn't as bad as it could have been after all. The cheif organizer sounds like a right pain in the arse!

Going to the baby show with my mum tomorrow! V excited!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/02/2010 08:31

Morning everyone!
I have so much to fit in today, need to wash my hair, go food shopping, go to town so DP can trade in some games, go on from there to his niece's birthday party (shit also need to wrap her pressie), then this eve we've got friends coming over for dinner but luckily we'll have kfc so I wont be cooking!

Wish me luck!

viksam · 20/02/2010 08:53

Hi Everyone,
KK Just wanted to sympathise about ur brother. I totally know what you mean about them saying stupid things, what gives tham the right. My brother is a nightmare, he will phone up whilst he is on his way home and just talk about himself and his issues and problems i will have about 5 mins of the conversation then its all about him. Me and my sister have a bit of a laugh about it. A few years ago i really could have fallen out with him but then i realized he is never going to change and i either accept him the way he is or take drastic action. I knew if i did anything horrible my parents would be so upset so i chose to take a deep breath, a tolerance pill and accept him for their sake, and i must say things are a lot easier, i just dont take on board anything that comes out of his mouth, easy! I have the friend stopping at the weekend who said the nasty thing about the pram we orderd, again I lover her as a friend and i need her as a friend but i dont suppose everyone is going to agree with all ur decisions, i really hope she doesnt say anything like that to my face, although i can take the moral high ground with my brother, it will be a lot more difficult with her.
I really need to look up how much that stokke high chair is then. Please dont misunderstand me, i am very gratefull, just got nowhere for baby to sleep yet so its kinda wierd, but good wierd!
flex i really hope the house goes through ok, its such a mine field buying and selling, good luck!
chulita MMmmmmmmmm baileys, i have some in the fridge from ages ago, wonder it its ok??Says it only lasts 3 months i think, really??
I have a filthy cold now on the last two days of my holiday not fair! hope everyone who is going away has a good time and all others have a nice relax. x

Chulita · 20/02/2010 11:43

Yea right! Baileys lasts aaaaages! Ours sits in the cupboard for months and months.
And viks, I just offered my brother our spare buggy and they're not even pregnant just didn't want to sell it if they were going to need it in a year or so. Did feel a bit odd asking though!

kkfairybrains · 20/02/2010 15:28

aw vik poor you.its horrible having a cold and not being able to take anything for it.
agree with it being harder to deal with the friend!would love to be able to just ignore him but im stil really upset and mad everytime i think of him. dont mean to sound like a madwoman but he got to me that much that i was shaking and crying and would have been liable to do anything! maybe in time il be able to ignore what he says but right now no can do!
enjoy the hen parties and every1 else who is going away!and happy shopping violet!xx

viksam · 20/02/2010 16:45

kk i totally understand about how mad ur brother made u and its only been with a lot of time and practice that i can rise above it. I still sometimes cant thought, he was choosing what secondary school his son was going to go to and they went to visit my ond school, my brother didnt like it and said, in front of his sons, that everyone at that school is a chav!! I mean, what a stupid thing to say, let alone to say it in front of an impressionable 11 year old. On the same day he bragged about driving at over 90 miles an hour down the motorway with his car full of his family, he said this in front my mom, i thought it was a disgracefull lack of respect not expecting her to say anything, what an idiot, if he wasnt my brother i wouldnt want to know him, hence forced into the trap of in one ear and out of the other and staying away from him as much as possible!
DH you sound well busy today, hope your not to tired tomorrow....KFC you lucky thing, the closest one to us is an hour away, i love KFC!!!!! Its take away for us tonight.
I have been a bit constipated for the last few days and today have had some relief(TMI sorry) but have a very uncomfortable stomach with some dull pains in my lower abdomen, not sure what thats all about. Scan 1 day closer though, Wednesdays not too far away is it....4 sleeps, cant wait!!

I was at the Baby Show today, Firerise. It was a lot of fun. The retail therapy was good too! I ordered my Britax B-Smart 4, with the car seat, carry cot and a few nice extras. My parents are footing the bill, which is really sweet of them.

Got a cot ordered too from Tutti Bambini direct, for a really good price and a mattress thrown in! PIL are getting us that one. I feel really lucky to have such well-off nice relatives.

I wasn't very impressed with the Philips stand at the show however. They seemed to have sold out of the decent things already so were trying to push whatever they had left. I'll just order the stuff I want from Amazon I guess.

I'm feeling quite organised now with a lot of the big purchases done and ordered for mid-April. Lots of little things left to order though...

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/02/2010 18:19

Im back from the party Ive just been asleep for half hour I am so so tired and now feel a little sick. Friends should be here with KFC but tbh Im not really in the mood for people coming over now, thought Id be ok but it's just been a bit much today.
Feel a bit lame cos I dont have any other children to look after but I didnt realise how tired Id be.
Hope everyone has a good evening, maybe Ill perk up a bit soon.

kkfairybrains · 20/02/2010 18:33

dh hope they're the type of friends that u dont feel you have to make alot of effort with! maybe after some food you'll feel better!
vik that sounds unbearable! know what you mean now about in one ear out the other!
very of you all with the take aways! im off them for lent! along with sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks! except for milkshakes cos they're my craving! was starting to go too heavy on the crap food and not enough healthy food so its the perfect excuse! not finding it too bad today although we'l see how long it lasts!home alone tonight as dp working and was supposed to be going to visit my dad who lives about an hours drive but he rang a while ago to say dont drive down cos its snowing thick down there! ahhhhhhhhhh! not this again!

viksam · 20/02/2010 19:01

DH Im sure U'll be ok when they come, Im supposed to be choosing from Chineese, Pizza or Curry and all i can think about is ur KFC.
kk Im starting a healthy eating kick next week, really need to get more fruit and veg into my diet so this may be the last take away for a while! I may even indulge in a glass of wine with it, how bad am i!! Sorry to here u got snow close by, its such a pain in the ass, hope u enjoy ur evening, Ferris Bulers day off is on film 4 at 9 if u like that sort of film, one of my favourits. xx

kkfairybrains · 20/02/2010 23:06

vik only just seen ur message there and thats one of my faves 2!so mad i missed it.thats what i get for being stuck on laptop!

Irishfairy · 20/02/2010 23:28

Hi ladies!

I haven't posted on here in ages due to broken laptop (and no internet access in work) but now have lovely shiny new laptop and I've been catching up on as many posts as I can get through

I had my 20 week scan yesterday, everything looked good and we found out it's a girl!!! Wouldn't have minded either way or anything but feeling very excited now that I know. I'm also a very girly girl so DH already anxious about the house being over taken by pink!

Just had a Chinese takeaway, have been trying to eat healthy but have cravings for their hot and sour soup so have had to have it at least once every 2 weeks. Also craving salt and vinegar snackajacks and lychees which I've never eaten before and are quite random!

Have been having lots of movement and kicking since 17 weeks which is earlier than the books say with first baby but it's been definite kicks and DH can feel the stronger ones now too.

How's everyone else feeling? I've been reading the posts about the pregnancy pillows, think I might get one soon. Are the more expensive ones worth it or are they all more or less the same?

Jojobil · 21/02/2010 08:05

I got my Dreamgenii pillow from Ebay for £ 42.50 including postage.. It's very good and helps me get a good night sleep

Desperate I hope you had a nice evening after all! I just don't meet up during the evening anymore, but arrange lunch dates instead! I find it much more manageable and pleasant. Also usually after an hour or two I just become tired. Sometimes if the company is right I can last longer! But again I think it's normal when you are pregnant. I remember when I was pregnant and after when I had Lula people in the new mum circle knew not to come for more then an hour or two to each visit... I think as long as we are honest and make them aware. After all our bodies are working at 50% more capacity, we loose oure balance and our hormone levels hit the roof to list just a few things!

I went to Brent Cross yesterday and got myself new much needed bras and a nighty and M&S and then went to Baby Gap and Next and got some clothes for our baby boy It just felt like a little retail therapy and I just can't wait to prepare his things!

We are off to lunch with our friends today, who have two little daughters and then to a 4 year olds birthday party, which should be fun

Hope you all gorgeous ladies have a lovely sunday

stac14 · 21/02/2010 09:43

morning all, i got the dream genie from mothercare. Got it for £42 as i got a £3 discount for joining thier mum and baby club.
