Can I also join the campry, poohy, wet brigade?! Keep aivng to remind myself that when I realy am in labour they'll no mistaking it!

Congratulaions Evitas - they'e soon goin gto be popping everywhere!

annamama · 14/02/2010 10:28

I was crying too the other day, no real reason, apart from being tired and a bit fed up... and hormones of course...

Pixie - last night I dreamt that I ran into your DD1 with your newborn twins in a pram! They were really small and had light blonde hair. I asked "is your mother on Mumsnet?" She said "yes". I said "I knew it!" That was about it... strange eh.

IWCAS - yeah better not call your ex today... it's just an american commercial thing anyway. Hope you feel better soon and things work out the way you want them to!

Having said that, my DH is american so I happily accepted flowers, card and chocolate this morning... bless.

TLC - hope you feel better! I don't know if it was reading about you but I felt awful all day yesterday, really uncomfortable and a bit crampy too. Today it's gone though so I'm thinking maybe baby had gotten into an awkward position or something.

My DH has a business idea to make a cheapish handheld ultrasound scanner that you could use yourself to check baby's position etc. I think it would sell a lot!

So think I'm now officially joining the crampy/damp ladies brigade...I had what I think is a bit of a bloody show this morning - (TMI!) pinkish tinged mucous. Have also had (yet more TMI!) increased discharge and loose bowels for a few days. But baby is active and seems happy (despite me saying reguarly things like "oh baby, I'm ready for you to come out whenever you like...it's nice out here" - am definitely ready to not be pregnant anymore...).

TLC I agree with IWCAS, if it is a tummy bug then better to get it out of the way now! Still, it could just be your body getting ready (practice for labour so to speak ).

Right, off to finish a wedge of cake I bought myself at the farmers' market this morning. Definitely makes the raspberry leaf tea go down easier!

Is it wrong to have chocolate buttons for breakfast??!!!!

siamesecatwoman · 14/02/2010 12:25

Pixie I was up thinking about all of us on this thread too! Esp ICWAS - I cried in Homebase yesterday - something to do with picture hooks - and I was thinking how strong you are given everything that has happened to you over the last 8 months or so - even if not pg!

BusyMissIzzy doesnt sound acceptable to me - can you play the pg card and demand it gets sorted out instantly? I did very well in the carpet shop yesterday with my bump and a hard stare

Thinking about life changes, its funny how many little things we do everyday that are related to pg now... I put a sachet of water in my orange juice daily, drink raspberry tea although I hate it, rub my belly with creams, bounce on a ball in my living room, sleep on 6 pillows, wear wrist splints to bed, cry at adverts on telly, massage my perineum , wear Tenalady minis (I have a bladder bouncing baby) and am addicted to the nursery section of ebay. I think my life is very different to 8 months ago...

No valentines nonsense here - just breakfast in bed

Hi there I'm new to Mumsnet, can I join you all?

My name's Gemma and I'm 21. My partner and I are expecting our first bundle of joy on the 2nd of March - not long now! We don't know if bump is a boy or a girl yet, will be a surprise! xx

Congratulations Evitas!! Great news.

I made the mistake of making a large tray of chocolate brownies. Now I have to eat them all. It's very hard to discipline myself not to eat them all now.

Bloody shows - most exciting! Never too TMI.

DrSkidaddle · 14/02/2010 15:38

evitas massive congratulations - I remember you had a show about 10 days ago and I thought it couldn't be too far away (take note caitni!!) - fantastic news - our very first baby and he is beautiful!

caitni/IWCAS - oh yes those emotional outbursts are also quite common in the skidaddle household (more so when pg with DC1 as they could come out any time - with DC3 they have to be restricted to when the DC are in bed!). I remember calling my DH a 'fcking bastard' and bursting into tears because he wouldn't take half an hour off work and walk me home oh the shame . To his credit he thought it was hilarious!

BPM - gosh that sounds so awful being sent away, and so so far, when you were so young. Does sound like your mum feels quite bad about it though although I'm sure that was no consolation at the time. I always find it odd when parents put a 'good education' before everything else but I know a lot do, and with the best intentions I'm sure.

caitni - a bloody show sounds VERY exciting. I know it doesn't mean labour is just round the corner but I think it is quite rare to have a bloody show more than 2 weeks before it starts - let us know

TLC - any more cramping? Agree that it's better to get a tummy bug out of the way first if poss, but could be your body getting ready for labour

mummyelk - thanks for the info re spinach - think I had vaguely heard that too but like you I just love spinach and any excuse to eat it I will go with! Am veggie so can't have the usual red meat, hmmm anyone know of other non-meat high iron foods? Am on spatone but it is not agreeing with me...

Have been having awful pelvic pain these last few days - does anyone else have this? Don't think it is SPD as it doesn't hurt when I turn over, go upstairs, have legs open - just when I'm standing/walking and feels like the pressure of the baby is trapping a nerve or grinding down onto my pelvic bone. Also been having vague cramping which hasn't come to anything. MW on Fri said my uterus felt very 'tight' and she thought the baby would be early - I just KNOW he'll be two bl**dy weeks late now she's said that!

Grizzer · 14/02/2010 15:51

Ooh what's happened?? I've fallen off the list! Due 5th March and it's a surprise.
I finished work on Friday (officially next Friday but it's half term so school is OUT!) Very excited about doing nothing for a couple of weeks. I feel completely fine, not too huge, not too achy, a bit tired but surviving. Am I normal?

Evitas, your DS is just gorgeous !! So very well done by clever you! Can I have one just like him, please?

Hope you all had a nice Hallmarks Valentine's Day - waiting to eat chocolates from DH when DSs are in bed

mumbot · 14/02/2010 18:08

Congrats Evitas - brilliant news

ps anyone got any good advice on winding down / relaxing before childbirth?

What works for you?

hecklephone · 14/02/2010 18:30

Grizzer you are normal - and lucky to be feeling so fine!

Time for a mini-rant - DH is annoying me today. I want to slightly re-arrange the furniture in the nursery to make it a little bit different from how it was when DD was a baby but he won't do it because it's "too much hassle". What's too much hassle I hear you ask? Moving one shelf. I'm doing my best not to have a hormonal outburst but he just won't listen to me. I just want the room the way I want it! It would look nice and make me happy - isn't that reason alone to do it???

Plus his idea of 'helping' today seems to be dragging all sorts of things down from the loft (albeit things we'll need for the baby) and leaving them lying strewn in the hallway and apparently ignoring my requests to take some of them, which we don't need yet, back up again

I'm really feeling a growing sense of urgency about getting things ready for the new baby and he just seems unenthusiastic and like it's a big drag to help me out with this stuff. I know it's not how he really feels and he has been otherwise SO helpful while I've been ill (I'm such a cow for moaning) but I'm just feeling a bit grrrrr with him just now.

Oh, and no Valentines ANYTHING for me. It's ok cos we don't normally do valentines but I suppose there's a little bit of me that's disappointed that he didn't feel the need to cheer up his ill, very pregnant wife with at least a box of choccies!

Enough ranting. I'll probably regret typing all this tomorrow but better to vent to you guys than go off on one with him.

Have a nice relaxing Sunday evening all.

Still thinking of p&p and EmLou...hope all is well with you guys.

mad4mainecoons · 14/02/2010 19:42

Dalrymps · 14/02/2010 20:25

Evening

Evitas - Your ds is soooooo adorable, absolutely gorgeous!

Mumbot - I've started listening to my natal hypnotherapy cd, 'birth preparation' to try to make myself relax coming up to the birth. I used it last time, I still had a painful labour but I found trying to do the 'techniques' throughout labor gave me something to focus on and also, even though ds was back to back (which is meant to mean a longer labour) I had a surprisingly short labour for a first timer... was induced at about 8am, pains started around 10am, strong pain from about 12 noon and baby born at 4.44pm!

Hoping the labour this time will be just as short although it would be nice if baby wasn't back to back this time, ouch!

Have started drinking my raspberry leaf tea in preparation too. I am considering starting my perinium massaging but I didn't like doing it last time, just felt weird so i'm kind of putting it off!

Am feeling ever so slightly crampy tonight but it's hardly noticable tbh.. Can't wait to go in to labour cause I just wanna get it out the way and start enjoying the new baby... Having said that, we're not quite ready yet as we're still halfway through painting the hallway!

PacificDogwood · 14/02/2010 21:07

Evening, all!

Hecklephone, sounds like nesting is getting the better of you ... But seriously, I get frustrated all the time pregnant or not by DHs wrong different priorities from mine; must be a Venus/Mars thing ... Hope you get the nursery you want - ours is still a box room (as in: a room full of boxes and the Christmas tree stand ).

Re relaxation: well, apart from good old denial (it is still a looooooong time until I am going to have a baby) I just try to be kind to myself: so will take it easy once mat leave starts (only 1 more week to go, will be 38 weeks, seemed like a good idea at the time to keep going this long ) and DSs will still go to CM 2 days a week - otherwise this poor baby will never get a shot at being BF: DS3 still v v demanding, gah!

Centerparcs is fun (although I read the current CP thread and do actually agree that it is overrated/overpriced but DSs and DH like it and if they are happy they leave me in peace ), my hair is a frizzy mess, but what's the point in washing/styling it if we just go back to the pool 2x/day?? Feel major hairwashing/conditioning session coming on when back home again tomorrow...

Reminder to self: must start Raspberry Leaf tincture before it's too late - don't want any of the stuff left over!

How cute is Evita's son?!!

EmLouT · 15/02/2010 09:03

Sorry I have been a bit off radar over the past few weeks - been really hectic with hospital appointments three or four times a week to see how baby is doing - Pleased to report that he is growing well and has probably made it to five pounds. I am being induced on Thursday (18th)so will have a baby in a few days time.

Evitas - huge congratulations - very excited for you!

Hope everyone else is well!
